Fabulous, beautifully designed property at the heart of the town. Their garage and transport option was great - and the staff was lovely. The rooms and the public rooms are thoughtfully designed by someone with great taste. I particularly loved my room with the cave details. It was charming and very comfortable. Absolutely wonderful hotel. Great location with a beautiful view. We stayed in the deluxe double room which was very spacious and although modern still maintained the authentic cave atmosphere. Breakfast was good. If driving, I would recommend the private secured parking deck option provided with the shuttle to the hotel. Well worth the 40 euros. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay here again!

Its a Small boutique hotel, right in the heart of the Caveoso Sasi from Matera. You fell like in a movie. They give us an a gourgeous room inside the cavern. Absolutly spectacular. The parking is 10 min car and there is a shuttle. The cost EU 40. Very good room Nice breakfast. You should go !

One of our favorite cities and hotels on our Italian vacation. The cave room is beautiful, clean and quiet with modern details. The shower is awesome and heated towel bars were a plus. Breakfast is very nice and they have a bar that opens in the evenings at 5. All is very convenient to walking the sasso. They will arrange for a cab upon arrival or departure if you're taking a bus or train, so reach out as the walk from the main city piazza is far with luggage. Great restaurants nearby.

The Pianelle Resort in heart of Sassi Caveoso was so convenient to so many sites and restaurants nearby. The view as well immediately at the doorstep was breathtaking. The room was spacious and luxurious with exposed stone walls and ceilings which provided an immersive experience if staying in the caves of Matera. The breakfast options too were delicious and highlighted the local produce and cuisine. We had an amazing 2 nights and would definitely return.

As everyone has said previously on this site, the staff really make this hotel. They are very helpful and friendly; nothing is too much bother for them. They helped to find us when we got lost in the town on arrival, they arranged a taxi to come and get us off the hill opposite (thankfully there is a car park at the top as there was no way I was making it back on foot!). Just lovely people. The room was also fab. It had everything. The bathroom mirror was heated, which was welcome in the October cold and rain. Breakfast was perfectly adequate. Location was great too. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay in PIANELLE Resort. The location was terrific and the hotel was beautifully designed with a great attention to detail and comfort. The staff were friendly and very professional. At one point we needed a prescription filled and one of the staff went personally to the pharmacy and returned with the medication.

Well, it started off on the wrong footing, a mix up on the room type and single bed vs double bed. But this was quickly resolved via a gentleman called Rocco. Once i got settled in my wonderful cave dwelling with wonderful waterfall shower, i was right at home. The staff at this resort were all smiles and extremely helpful and accommodating. I couldn't fault any of them. I will single out Domenico and Bea and the head of housekeeping Asia as highlights of my comfortable stay. Asia's work along with her team in keeping your room fresh and tidy made my stay an absolute pleasure. All staff have beautiful welcoming smiles and were always happy to help. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. The breakfast was top notch and very varied with beautiful fresh fruit and home baked cakes and eggs how you like them on request and freshly squeezed organge juice. I would love to stay again.

hotel 4etoile superbement décoré et aménagé. notre chambre se situait dans une ancienne grotte. en plein Matera ancien ( les sassi). excellent restaurant autour . premier accueil un peu désinvolte manquant de professionnalisme mais repris ensuite par une autre personne parfaite. bon petit déjeuner. un conseil: ne visitez pas de grottes reconstituées avant l'hotel: vous ferez des cauchemars en pensant aux conditions d'habitat autrefois dans ces grottes... appartement impressionnant de 60 m2.

Beautiful hotel! Loved the all the people that worked there. Very friendly and helpful with all of our questions. With our luck it was raining the nights we were there. But the hotel has an excellent restaurant. We enjoyed our meals. Everyone was so welcoming, it felt we were at some one’s home. It’s the best place to relax. Great location.
