Great location in an old country house built in 1772, with more modern extensions. Room was pretty large and the wetroom was huge. The bed looked like a double but had two mattresses, which was not really ideal. Heating was good and the room was comfortable throughout our stay. Disappointed that the gym was no more (and the website still listed it as present). The lovely grounds (55 acres!) make you think that you are miles from anywhere. The neighbouring church building was not open when we visited. Full English breakfast was good. The hotel seems to be doing well, with a reasonable trade in business conferences, with plenty of meeting rooms. Lovely reception inside the front door with a blazing log fire - very welcoming. Some strange design "features" in our room (304?): tall bedside lamps with switches on the top - why not on the base?; toilet roll holder behind you when sitting down - so we kept the roll next to the wash basin for easy access; then the light switches - the furthest on the wall outside the bathroom was for the bathroom. Great location, with easy access from the motorway.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Immaculate grounds. Wonderful, friendly staff. Good sized room with comfortable large bed. Nice breakfast generally but didn't like the sausage flavour and only one rasher of bacon.

Nice hotel - very much a wedding and meeting venue. Specifically booked for the gym, as not many places locally with that facility - so disappointed to find out on check in that the gym had been closed.

Lovely Hotel, Room was very comfortable and TV in room was decent, my only gripe is that it has advertised there was a Gym here but on arrival i was told i would have to travel to another Hotel to use a Gym there.

Property was beautiful, but rooms were not the best maintained, they were clean but there is definitely opportunities to fix small issues (heated towel rail not working etc). Much of the character has been removed from the house with just a couple of reception rooms feeling like you’re staying in an old manor house.

Bathroom had not been cleaned - sink covered in toothpaste and water marks. Requested clean. Mould around bath seal. Something hanging from bathroom light. Laundry delivery outside room at 7AM on a Saturday. Gave food order to waiter of no salad in burger - came with salad. No onions in salad - came with onions. Apart from that food was good. No atmosphere in restaurant or bar as so few people in. Had to wait in the bar for someone to notice us to get served.

Our room was quite expensive regarding the small size of the room and bathroom. The decor was rough with areas requiring repainting and the bathroom tap was in a poor state. Also there was a publc hair on the toilet seat, very undesirable to say the least!!!

Clean property. Friendly staff. Looks absolutely gorgeous but actually a little 'tired'. Room needed extra heating, TV was in an odd place, had to get staff to bring a remote control, very small toiletries. Bathroom mirror so high, I could only see my eyes. No shelf in shower to put anything. Just needs a few small touches to make it amazing.

Poor breakfast service, waited over 45minutes for cooked items and still did not arrive. In fairness to the Duty Manager, they apologised and refunded breakfast. Shower screen was not very clean. On the plus side, bed was comfy and bath was very good.

Room was spacious Bed mattress was one of the worst I have had in hotel. 2 people an you roll into the middle Shower in bad very poor I'm only 5.8" and I had to crouch down to get under the shower head. Staff really nice breakfast was excellent including service but having a good night sleep is paramount to my stay

I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, I was not impressed. On Saturday evening, there was a wedding party being held in a hall right next to my room. The noise was quite disruptive and made it hard to relax or sleep peacefully. To make matters worse, on Sunday morning at 8:30 AM,the gardener started mowing the lawn right outside. It was loud and totally inconsiderate, especially for a Sunday morning at a supposed 4* stars hotel. I expected a more peaceful and restful experience, but sadly, that wasn’t the case. The hotel may have potential, but the lack of attention to guest comfort during what should be quiet hours was very disappointing.

An absolute gem of a hotel. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. Our room - Trow - was absolutely amazing, huge, well equipped, clean and very comfortable. The bar service, restaurant service and food were all first class. We will definitely stay here again when next in the area.

Brilliant staff with the right attitude. Front of house reception was exemplary and so welcoming Fabulous room, the bed was amazing- cool white linen, and fluffy pillows. The full English was cooked to perfection.

Amazing Receptionist. We arrived bout 3pm nd checked in with no issues. When we arrived at our room it was beautifully clean but unfortunately smelt very highly of lillies and myself being allergic to lillies and asthmatic started wheezing and coughing. We found many small.air freshner balls on th floor and the smell was from them. I went down to reception and the lady came up immediately to investigate, the hotel was full due to 2 weddings but she managed to find us another room and moved our stuff into it. First class sevice from this receptionist..Would highly recommend and stay here again. Lovely hotel and grounds

The staff at this hotel were absolutely wonderful. I arrived after a long day and due to a failure of the Hotels.com app, my booking was not showing. The girl on reception found me a lovely room and helped me with the Hotels.com app cockup! I will be staying at this hotel every time I am near Sheffield from now on. The food in the restaurant was good and the service great. Big thumbs up from me, a regular traveler. Well done !

Only 1 bedside lamp no light switch near bed only near door where you come in. Breakfast not much choice could be better. My husband Ordered porridge and full English to follow they were both brought at the same time. Very slow service and restaurant was not busy and very small. I have stayed in a lot of best western hotels but this one is at the bottom of my list.

Very overpriced for room only. First encounter with the young girl on reception was not very welcoming at all but when i went back to reception there was a fifferent receptionist and she was really lovely and the overnight receptionist was lovely too. Didn't eat or drink there as we were there to go out for the night with friends who live in next village, we went to Sheffield city centre to see peter kay and didn't get back till very late.

Receptionist went above and beyond the call of duty to upgrade us to a beautiful annexe as there were too many stairs to our original room. She insisted on carrying my case and took us there, amazing lady!

Very nice hotel, welcoming reception, nice spacious room with super comfortable bedding. Coffee & tea making facility in room. had drinks and light bites in bar, excellent would recommend the platter. Breakfast great, served at table and cooked to order all very civilised. Very wide choice all freshly cooked, a nice surprise in hotels these days. We stayed only one night for a shopping trip to Medowhall. Loated just 300 yds from M1 South at Aston, just 8 mins on M1 to Medowhall. Could not fault this hotel in any way.

Nice hotel. I’d stayed earlier this year and the fish and chips I had here was the best I’d had for a long time. The fish was huge. I wanted to stay again to have the same meal but this time around it was about 1/2 the size with fewer chips and it might have actually cost a little more. That was disappointing and the reason for not awarding a 5th star. I had the poached eggs for breakfast and there appears to be an inability amongst hotel cooks to create a runny yolk. The hotel is nice though and I’d stay again but may choose different food or eat elsewhere.
