Perfect location for golfers

Nice hotel, good value for money for our two night stay, decent evening meal not too expensive & a great breakfast but very expensive at the bar. The hotel could definitely do with a lick of paint to the rooms & it’s exterior as it looks a bit downtrodden on first appearance but overall nice stay with lots of lovely friendly staff.

Nice location. Close to West Midlands Shooting Grounds and a short drive to Shrewsbury. 2 nice golf courses. Also has a great breakfast. A small fridge in the room would have been nice

Overall trip was good for an all male golfing trip. We were surprised that the hotel did not have facilities for watching BT sport and must have lost a lot in bar takings. The lady on reception when we checked in could not find our reservation for a while and had to look in different places and didn’t seem to know we had checked in online. The rooms are very basic and small and not very sound proof and the water pressure is not great on the shower. The room service was very good and the selection of beer is better that last year. The breakfast is really good as was the dinner. The sandwiches in the clubhouse are very mixed the ham and cheese was very poor value being basically 2 bits of bread a cheese slice and piece of ham for about £8. In contrast the breakfast sandwiches and fish finger sandwiches looked to be much better value. The main point of the trip was the golf and the quality of the courses is amazing - well done to the Green keeping staff for that

We enjoyed a one night stay at this hotel. The hotel staff were lovely & friendly. Rooms were of high spec with comfortable beds. Breakfast was typical buffet style. Plenty of space to park. Closest town was Wem where there were a few pubs.

Can't put any drinks or food on the room so end up with multiple receipts. Glass of Red Wine is £9.95 !!

You would only stay here for a function at the manor or golf

I arrived after a rather heart-stopping journey through Storm Darragh. And as I was checking in the power went off. There were a few refugees from the storm and staff who couldn't get home after their shift. The kitchen was in darkness and powerless so no food available but the bar did stay open! The staff were cheerful and helpful finding a duvet to wrap up a chilly lady. True community spirit at it's best!

Great food, lovely staff, peaceful setting. Really enjoyed stay. Hotel within golfing grounds. If there is a footpath around grounds for walkers, that might be good for another time. Also would love to see the nearby follies, but it tends to be open on weekends.

We stayed here prior to a wedding locally. The staff were excellent and could not have been more helpful. The room was very clean with a huge bed although the bathroom was small. We had an excellent two course dinner and the full cooked breakfast was also very good. This hotel represents very good value for money. We would stay there again.

Nice stay, room nice and clean with good facilities. Mixed review within the family regarding how comfortable the beds are. Shower didnt stay facing up so it was awkward. Room was a good size abd breakfast was nice and we would stay again.

Check in was ok however when we got to the room there was an infestation of fly’s. We had to change rooms. Breakfast was good. We booked the room via Hotels.com I chose the pay at the hotel at a price of £125.00 for the night. I day before my arrival I was charged £149.00!! After several conversations and lots of lengthy online chats over 6 days they have agreed to give me the difference back however this is yet to be refunded!! Won’t be staying here again and won’t be using hotels.com again

Lovely spacious room. Sadly the zip on the joining beds was broken so the mattress kept coming apart. Pillows very hard too. Oh, also no phone in my room to call reception or room service. Bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied from previous guest… not a huge deal.

Room was dirty and dusty, towel Rails were gross, wobbly tap, access to the two pin plug charger on the mirro blocked by the soap dispenser, unfinished window repair, lamps in the hotel lounge were really dusty. Golf shop staff on both days pretty bloody miserable and unwelcoming. Reception staff were great on arrival as were the bar staff in the evening. Bunkers in the golf course were a disgrace!

Lovely clean hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and modern with lots of space and even had fans to help with the heat due to summer weather. Great value for money and will definitely return.

Clean and tidy room

Big comfortable bed. Very quiet.

Room was clean, modern and recently decorated and is great if you like wall-to-wall grey. Our room was located near the bar and stairs, so pretty noisy if you are a light-sleeper. Coffee was weak and breakfast was mediocre, firstly it ran out and then when it did arrive, it wasn't the best quality food. If you're staying on a B&B basis, you should at least get a good night's kip and a decent breakfast, but in all honesty I cannot say we had either! Overall it was reasonable value for money and the location is beautiful, very peaceful. If golf is your thing, you'll probably love it

Staff we encountered were excellent. Nice breakfast and comfortable room. The bedroom had single glazed windows, so lots of internal condensation in the morning. The bed was very large and comfortable, the room was warm during our November stay.

The room was very small and was situated near to the function room where there was party on until late. I feel I should have been told I would hear the music when given my room. I asked for another room but they said the hotel was full. Function finished around 1am so I had to listen to the very loud music until then. Won’t be staying there again

The reason I gave the 2 stars for check in is actually disappointment with Expedia because we were put in an accessibility room which was small and dingy. The hotel did find us an alternative room but it wasn't a nice experience having to complain as soon as we arrived.

Hotel was Very good, staff great and the breakfast was spot on , very clean and shower pressure excellent The only challenge was my room had a large slope in it from side to side which was very strange!

On checking in the member of staff on reception (I didn’t get her name!) was really friendly and helpful, we had a very pleasant over night stay, a full explanation was given regarding our dog (where we could walk/tables in hotel) meal on the evening and breakfast was very nice! the decor inside looked fairly new but the outside of the hotel looked tired and in need of a freshen up! When we came to check out the staff member on reception ignored us for about 5-10 mins until I said “do we just leave the room cards here?” She replied “yes” Not sure if she was reception staff but either way she should have asked us if we needed help or that someone would be with us soon! Would stay again

When I arrived I was not greeted politely when I asked to change somewhere I was met with check-in isn’t until 2. I was told to go to the golf club to change and the guy would take me over by the time I finished signing the paperwork given to me he was gone. Walking past anyone in the club or hotel I was met with a disapproving stare when I got to the room in the evening I went to the bar for a drink and again was met with disapproving stares from the other people there. In the morning I went into the bathroom when I saw the dark mark under the shower soap box which did not look like the vale that I paid for the room I didn’t get to shower cause it felt and looked dirty. When I went down for breakfast I was told it finished at 10:30 when I checked-in I got down just before 10:00 and it was being packed away I asked for bread to at least make a sandwich and one of the girls on breakfast was the only one that made feel welcome when I asked for a glass of orange juice and she delivered advice for anyone staying it’s a very uncomfortable and unwelcoming place to stay unless your in golf attire I guess cause I was constantly being judged by those that were dressed like that and certain staff to. I work in the industry of hospitality and I can see there was little to no care on how they made me feel all they wanted was my money

Stayed for a wedding function, staff exceeded expectations from the initial check in, attentive staff, excellent customer experience. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options.

The staff were all lovely at the hotel, especially Cheryl who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a good one. She even arranged for us to be picked up and taken to the follllies and brought back which was extremely helpful as we dont drive. All in all it was a great stay! Thank you to Cheryl and all the other staff.

The room was lovely. The breakfast was fantastic.

The hotel didn’t have the courtesy to tell us that they were having a private event which took over the entire ground floor rooms including the main dining room. Because of the fact that great numbers of the party guests were standing all over the dining area, plus the extremely loud disco and pop up casino. It was impossible for us to have dinner, so we had to go out about 12miles to find a restaurant on a Saturday night that wasn’t full. Terrible stay , never would go back. Breakfast was mediocre, and needed replenishing.

Reception staff and cleaners were excellent. The staff at breakfast seemed to have been taken by surprise that a lot of people wanted breakfast around 9am. Shortage of cups, plates, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, butter, bread etc. It all had to be asked for, staff were not proactive.

We stayed on a very quiet evening mid January for dinner, bed and breakfast. I imagine the hotel would be very different on a busy day in summer when it was full. We had a fantastic relaxing stay. Great shower, comfortable bed and spacious room. We enjoyed our cooked breakfast - other items were limited due to how quiet the hotel was I think.

The hotel is adequate. The staff are friendly and efficient. The exterior is badly in need of re-decoration and internally the hotel is dated. Evening menu is limited and basic and the food is like canteen food but, I guess, serves a purpose. The breakfast buffet is good and limitless. However, the sausages are awful. They must be the cheapest available, tasteless and with a horrible texture. This always annoys me, because even very good sausages are relatively inexpensive.

Room size excellent not really set up for family of four except sleeping, breakfast good apart from not set up properly and food one end drinks the other no cups or cutlery had to keep asking ,older staff miserable and stand there making comments when you go to get another orange juice very unprofessional and petty
