Arrival staff were great. Depature staff seemed to not care too much about the issues with the room except to say we could have changed rooms if we had said (we arrived late and didnt realise a few issues until we had showered; These were which were * pubic hair found near bathroom sink * bath plug was stuck down * covering on shower fixings was missing *oscillating fan did not oscillate, it just made a clunky noise * the bottom of all the units and skirtings behind bed were dusty * carpet under the edge of bed was thick with dust. In addition, the buffet breakfast, for the price charged was distinctly average. Fried eggs were very over cooked, sausages were cheap and had a 'pappy' texture and the black pudding was hard on the outside. Oh, and the beds only had 1 pillow each with no spares Inside, the reception is quite nice, the rooms, including layout, resemble a standard travel lodge which is disappointing when you pay more than you would in a travel lodge. There is a maintanaince form to complete in the rooms, but make sure you bring your own pen!

I can see why this hotel gets 7/10.. lovely setting and nice layout BUT the jacuzzi was not working for the full 3 nights we were there (which was one of the reasons I booked this hotel for myself and 2 teenage daughters!) and no reduction in fees to use the facilities for this reason. We were kept awake at midnight on the first night due to resident travellers screaming and shouting out the front of the hotel, after about 30 mins the staff managed to calm the situation and they were asked to leave. There was a planned power outage on our 2nd day which was not made clear when I booked (only the day before) and not made clear on check in! I happened to read it on a notice board. Power planned to go off at 9am and actually went off at 8.08am whilst I was in the shower! Power also came back on an hour late at 5pm. Tried to order food but was told no more food orders for 5-10 mins because the kitchen was overwhelmed! Really not many people in the bar! Gave up and drove to Wetherspoons! When I did order food on the last night.. kitchen again overwhelmed and food took a long time to come out! It’s a shame as I feel this hotel has a lot of potential.. clean, comfortable beds and amazing water pressure in the shower! I will be contacting customer services with regard to the power outage etc.

I am still waiting for my refund after I had to find another hotel due to their power cut which I wasn’t informed of until I arrived even the power had been off all day.

First time staying here, and unfortunately it will be my last. The hotel itself is in need of improvement, but what really let it down was the overall experience. The food was well below the standard I would expect from a hotel of this type. The staff, although it was busy, didn’t seem particularly interested in helping guests. At the bar, the bartenders appeared more focused on fixing a stapler than serving customers, resulting in unnecessary delays. Breakfast the following morning was equally disappointing. I ended up helping an elderly lady carry her breakfast to her table because two members of staff were walking around the restaurant without offering any assistance. To make matters worse, the power went off at around 8:10am. I decided to check out early, only to find a sign at reception stating that the power would be off from 9:00am until 4:00pm due to planned works. It would have been courteous to inform guests of this at check-in, rather than leaving them to discover it themselves. Even small details reflected the lack of care—the TV remote in my room was literally held together with electrical tape. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay. Unless you’re visiting specifically for the golf course, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
