The external of the building could definitely do with some cleaning and sprucing with the bricks and the front sign having some lights not working. Overall the stay was nice, quiet and convenient although we weren’t able to have dinner in the dining or a drink at the lounge as they were both closed on a Saturday night. Staff were friendly and welcoming and available the whole time for assistance if needed.

I liked the convenience to being close to RPA, Chris O'Brien's Lifehouse and RPA Medical centre. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I hated the car parking under the building - no room to safely park a small SUV. Damage was caused to my car due to closeness of posts and limited parking. After the damage incurred to my car I was granted an outside parking spot.

The carpark is absolutely a nightmare if you have anything bigger than a kia picanto. There are poles everywhere- enter at your own risk. The pool photos look like there is a spa. There is not, it's a toddler pool. On the plus side the staff were really welcoming, the room was very comfortable and the location was ideal for what we needed.

Hotel is in a convenient location for the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Restaurants and cafes on King St, Newtown are a 10–15-minute walk away. There are also dining options and a mini supermarket just up the road. Our room was spacious, quiet, clean and reasonably well-appointed with a writing desk, chair and sofa. Bathroom had both standard and rain shower attachments. Bed was a tad soft. Parking is available for $35 per night, but it's a tight squeeze due to the spacing of pillars in the garage.

The day I arrived the carpet had food scraps on the floor, I had to advise the staff. The glasses in the bathroom had white powdery substance and so did the tapware; On the third day the tissue box was empty, house keeping cleaned the room but did not replace it. Conditioner in the bathroom ran out even on the first day, i had to pump and try hard to extract some for my use, I thought there would be sufficient for my second use but no. Since I was already checking out, I didnot advise reception. I told reception about these issues. I stayed between 17th to 20th November 2021,, checked out on 21/11/2025 Room 501. The experience has left me reconsidering staying at the Hotel again in March 2025. I travel to Sydney 4 times a year.

The reception staff were very helpful and concerned to try to address the problems with the room. However housekeeping had left for the day so they were limited in what they could do. The room was dirty with food crumbs on sofa and floor, bedside table surfaces were sticky with drink glass residue from the previous occupants. One of the towels had hair in it. The toilet flush did not work and the curtain rail was broken so light came in. A request was left on the door exterior after the first night, to clean the room the next day but upon return the room was untouched. However the card had been turned on the door exterior to request do not disturb. Reception staff were great - room condition was poor.

I had to be moved 3 times for basics not being available, including curtain on window???. Each room was disgusting and dusty. One has a coke bottle under the tv unit with cobwebs over it. Would never stay here again especially given the pricy rates. When complained about 3rd move was only offered $35 refund for parking. Not impressed

Great customer service. Delicious coffee and food at breakfast. Our neighbour had left half-eaten food outside their room when we checked in and it was still there when we left. Dated, dirty, chipped paint on walls. Parking situation is pretty limited, extremely small spots and expensive.

I liked the simple, functional design of the room. I did not like moldy grout on the bathroom wall around the shower. I did not take the plethora of unpublished rules, such as limited times for ordering dinner. I did not like the fact that I paid for THREE days of parking but had to remove my car after 2.5 days or pay over $19 an hour for the remainder. I did not like the arrogant desk clerk when I was checking out who, instead of responding to my feedback, decided to give me a lecture. I will not be returning even though I have subsequent business to do at that same hotel. I will stay elsewhere.

Our issue with this hotel is that for the whole duration of our stay (4 nights) the wifi and tv did not work. We told staff and they came up but couldn't fix it. So very disappointed to be in a room with neither of these facilities. The rooms are a good size and we were happy with the actual room, though the rest of the property is aged. But in this day and age, tv's and wifi should be working.

It is a nice hotel and the staff is nice, but they don’t have internet at this hotel. it is serviced off site somehow and it doesn’t work properly. We spent hours with the front desk trying to get it to work with no luck. I was there for 3 nights and no internet. I feel like a major hotel chain should have it on site as this is a very important amenity every hotel should have

The staff were very accommodating and the location was convenient for RPA. The room was huge and quiet. The bed however needs upgrading.... on one side i was constantly feeling like i was rolling off. I think the side wall of the bed was stuffed. The shower was the worst i have EVER used. It was like a watering can being poured over my head. No water pressure at all. Finally the blanket that was supplied had seen better days. Was frayed and thread bare. I thought Rydges was synonymous with quality. It was quite disappointing. I should finally mention the quality of the meals and the extent of the menu in the restaurant was no better than a local pub. I really expected more.

We stayed at Rydges Camperdown as it was 7 mins from The Carriageworks where we were attending The Affordable Art Fair. My hubby & I didn't want to BYO food, so we included breakfast at $35 each per day. The scrambled eggs were half cooked & wet slop. I had to speak to a staff member as people were complaining & avoiding them. Upon arrival I was informed that parking would also be $35 per day! We caught an Uber to the Art Fair. It ended up costing us over $1250 just for 2 nights stay, which was absurd, because it's not luxury accomodation (stay at the Venetian Hotel in Macau to see real luxury for less $$!!) Our room was on the 2nd floor. It was clean, but the hotel is a little old and tired. The large rain shower head leaked freezing cold water over you while you were having a warm shower under the hand-held one, & it leaked out the side of the pipe as well. Our room overlooked the main road & we had street traffic with noisy ambulances all day and night. But the bed was very comfortable, at least. This was what saved it. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant both nights, & the food was delicious. Nothing fancy... normal food choices like garlic bread, a chicken roast dinner, barramundy, caesar salad, or chicken schnitzel. This was great because we didn't have to leave the hotel after walking all day. Overall, it was everything we needed, just way too pricey. They need to reduce their room prices if you're going to charge so much money for parking & breakfast on top.

Overall our experiences at the hotel were great. The staff are amazing specially at the restaurant. Stewart was very helpful. Great service and work Ethic is tremendous. The location is good and lots of restaurants and dining close by. Foodstore or grocery is just beside the hotel. The only downside was the parking fee which is $35 a night. Should be $15 is fair I reckon. We had a good choice choosing the hotel for our 4 nights stay. Good value for money with buffet breakfast was GREAT!

Staff were exceptionally kind & understanding and offered easy solutions to booking amendments, Mr Saga at the front desk is clearly from the old school of hotels and was professional, charming and accommodating. Beds are super comfy and the room was spacious, clean and has excellent air conditioning. Excellent location with public transport only a few steps away.

I’ve stayed here a few times over the last couple of years and have found it to be consistently very good. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The location is excellent if you need proximity to the RPA hospital complex. I highly recommend.

My stay at Rydges Camperdown was extremely disappointing. When I checked in, an older Asian gentleman at the front desk politely informed me there was a breakfast discount if I paid at reception before heading to the restaurant. The next day, I did exactly that. This time, a young Asian man was there—he said his name was Rain. No name tag, no visible ID. I had to ask him directly. He spoke to me rudely, told me there’s no discount, and insisted it had to be paid before check-in. I explained what his colleague said, but he treated me like I was lying. Over $11. He said he’d “check if my story was true” and let me pay $24 instead of $35 for that day only. I’d already paid over $1100 for the stay. I’m a doctor staying for hospital work—why would I lie about breakfast? The food was dry and limited, not worth the drama. Then the heater in my room didn’t work. I reported it, and they ignored me for 4 nights. I slept in a freezing room until they responded one night before checkout. When I got sick, I ordered medication. The Uber driver arrived, but Rain refused to send it up or bring it to my room. I told him I was unwell and could barely move. He still said I had to come down myself. I only managed to pick it up the next day. Most staff were fine, but Rain was unprofessional, cold, and disrespectful. He shouldn’t be in hospitality. Do yourself a favour: skip this hotel. There are hostels with better service, warmer rooms, and more dignity. Rydges Camperdown was a complete let down

Being a returned guest, I expected better.... Firstly, the toilet in the room was not cleaned, and they had to gives a new room. The water pressure in the shower was poor at best. Restaurant was NOT open for lunch or dinner, Room service was NOT available not even for a coffee. Overall experience was POOR at best. Very disappointed with Rydges and Expedia for the recommendation. Will be looking elsewhere very disappointed.

The first room I was allocated had major leaks from the ceiling. I was then moved to another room that did not have an operational phone and was also unable to order room service at 9pm after a long day. Staff were lovely to deal with however there were just many maintenance issues that really affected my stay greatly.
