We paid £40 and were quite happy for 1 night. We didn’t have breakfast booked. But the restaurant/bar was closed and there isn’t anything close by without a car. But shop/pubs minutes away by car. Room was freezing, lots of people complaining or being given heaters. We were moved and then perfectly warm. Carpets on stairs need a hoover. Nice decor in rooms. They felt clean. Reception were friendly and helpful.

Poor condition, very rundown. Restaurant not operating as council have closed kitchen down, receptionist had no idea when it might reopen. The bar is ‘open’ but they have no stock, only water, ice and wine. Breakfast was packets of cereals. Room had very few amenities. Nice views though. Avoid this hotel. Although weirdly it looked to be full capacity with foreign visitors.

A good hotel for a good price. The hotel staff were friendly and solved our problems quickly and easily. Rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable! Would have liked the restaurant to be open or room service, but this was not available so we had to get a food delivery. Breakfast, however, was well priced and had a good selection. Gym was also closed. Location was beautiful - our room over looked the lake and was lovely to sit and have a coffee on the balcony. Would consider booking again when I am next in the area.

The room itself was pleasant and clean. The staff were helpful. The hotel itself is getting dated and in need of a bit of refurbishment. One major issue, no restaurant. No food available at all, no evening meal, no breakfast, even though breakfast was available when I booked. It could be so much more, set in lovely grounds, quite a nice building, but suffering from a lack of attention to decoration.

The hotel is very tired and has been neglected during the last year. Our twin room was clean and everything was okay. They do not provide meals, just a continental breakfast at £6-50. Alright for one night at the price, but probably wouldn't stay again.

I have stayed at this hotel twice before you then could get food delivered to your room. This time there was no food available and had to go to a pub to find a meal, no breakfast available again had to go out to find some and no bar. Definitely the worst stay I've had there and will not be going again. Hugely disappointed.

Reasonably Cheap, nice location, friendly staff, no issues however the hotel is a little worn out and smells quite musty. No kitchen at all means no dinner or breakfasts are available which isn’t ideal. Apparently it says this on their website but doesn't mention it on booking.cm

Hotel was adequate for what we paid. for their cheapest room. A bit old and tired but bed comfy, sheets and towels clean tea coffee milk snd mugs. Only continental breakfat and no other meals. Seemed very few staff and lift is still not working.

This property should not be open until it is ready and bought up to standards shown in the pictures or the pictures changed. A lot of the rooms are locked off due to their condition, so feels empty and unsafe. The room was dirty, and not cleaned properly, dirty socks found, the phone didn’t work, the furniture is falling apart, the beds are dirty and heavily soiled, the doors don’t lock properly, the lift is out of order to all 3 floors, and the staff don’t care, they even try to debit your payment card before you check in despite picking the pay at property option. I checked out immediately.

My partner & I booked a last minute, overnight stay here. We were informed during Check-In that the heating wasn't working - but the hot water was... and were asked if we were happy with that as a refund cannot be given once we have Check-In. We asked to see the room, to gauge the temperature in the room, before deciding. My partner is fine with the cold. I am not and wouldn't be able to sleep if it is cold. We were taken to the room to gauge the temperature. Enroute through the corridors, we were greeted with the smell of tobacco and weed. Not very pleasant, appealing, nor inviting. Our room was an end room. It was cold. I wouldn't of been able to sleep in that temperature. We were offered a 4-poster bed room instead. I am not sure why the 4-poster bed was mentioned, when it was the room temperature and no heating, that was the issue. We viewed the "4-poster bed" room. It was a middle room and as soon as we walked into the room, we could feel that it was slightly warmer in there. We accepted this double room. The bed was clean and the mattress was nice and firm.There were only 2, fairly flat, pillows. Clean shower towels provided. In the bathroom - the ceiling was moldy, as was the bottom of the shower curtain. There was a tiny, single-use complementary bottle of shampoo and conditioner. Only 1, for 2 people. No hand soap. Slept fine but wouldn't go back there in a hurry. Much room for improvement.

Would not recommend - Very dirty shower curtain disgusting . Towels we only had one large and a hand towel . Pillows were very thin . room really odd the wallpaper was horrid each panel had strips of glue showing so the overall room looked unkept . We were not brave enough to stay for breakfast the low price does reflect the standards . could easily be so much better The staff were friendly

In spite of several requests, we had no glasses for water or tooth cleaning and only one hand towel between us. Needs complete overhaul as everything looks tired(carpets stained, bedside lampshades and lamps non matching, bath stained etc). Breakfast ok but water for tea luke warm.. Bedroom cramped.

The hotel was in a quiet location, the room was clean, tidy of a little dated in its decor. If/ when the owners start to update I’d suggest putting power sockets with USB charging points each side of the bed, the bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep during my stay.

The photos used on all booking websites are lies... Gone are the pristine manicured lawns, relaxed with a foot high wild meadow. The flower beds now filled with dead plants, weeds, and discarded beer bottles and cans. The lake that looks so tranquil and ornate is overgrown and untended. Balcony furniture covered in bird muck and unusable. The building itself is rundown and in need of some serious maintenance. The lift hasn't worked for months for a start. We were lucky and got a relatively clean room, but others we spoke to told of black mould in the bathroom, broken light fittings, damp beds, peeling wallpaper and broken furniture. There was even a report of bed bugs being seen. Needless to say both we and another couple checked in and out again within hours of arrival. This place is so bad we renamed it the Bucket of Fleas!

Hotel from the outside looks great and Is in a lovely setting. Inside it’s dated, it smelt bad and the rooms were terrible. Our towels were dirty, the bath was mouldy it was very poor. We had to go to the local supermarket to buy towels and cups as we didn’t want to use theirs. Wouldn’t stay there again if they paid me.

Avoid at All Costs – Absolutely Awful Experience Our stay at the Buckatree Hotel was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment we walked in, it felt like stepping into a time warp—straight back to the early 2000s, and not in a good way. The entire building is severely outdated, with damaged doors lining the corridors and wallpaper peeling from nearly every wall. It honestly felt like the place hadn’t seen a proper renovation in decades. We booked a family room, but the moment we stepped inside we were hit with a strong smell of damp. Water marks were clearly visible on the walls, and the room looked like it had been thrown together with whatever furniture was left in a clearance sale—nothing matched and everything looked tired and worn. Now for the beds... if you can call them that. We would’ve had a better night’s sleep on a park bench. Lumpy, uncomfortable, and clearly long past their use-by date. Worst of all, the room was freezing during the night. Both of our kids were shivering and miserable, and there was no way to heat the room. It was honestly heartbreaking watching them try to sleep through the cold. We were supposed to stay for two nights but checked out first thing the next morning. It was that bad. I wouldn’t let my worst enemy spend a night here. They advertise this place as a 3-star hotel, but in reality, it should be condemned. Absolutely avoid—this place needs a serious overhaul or shutting down completely.

The location room upgrade was excellent and it was very quiet with great facilities in the room. The only thing that let the stay down was the breakfast the next morning, it wasn't good with a lack of food available for £6.50 so that needs to be changed.

The room itself was pleasant and clean. The staff were helpful. The hotel itself is getting dated and in need of a bit of refurbishment. One major issue, no restaurant. No food available at all, no evening meal, no breakfast, even though breakfast was available when I booked. It could be so much more, set in lovely grounds, quite a nice building, but suffering from a lack of attention to decoration.

The hotel was in a quiet location, the room was clean, tidy of a little dated in its decor. If/ when the owners start to update I’d suggest putting power sockets with USB charging points each side of the bed, the bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep during my stay.

Room extremely cold asked for heating but dident have any hot water was warm. Mattress needs updating as was sagging in centre and asked for more milk and never came to room to deliver had to go to reception to remind them

For the price we paid I was absolutely amazed at the standard of this hotel. Lots of parking and very convenient for the conference in Telford. I had no complaints about my room at all. My colleague had to have a lock replaced but they offered us a free drink each at the bar to compensate for the inconvenience. The food was good in the restaurant (maybe a few more vegan options, please?). Best of all were the staff - every single person was most pleasant and helpful.

I loved it here. The staff were brilliant and very friendly. I will defo be booking again. Wanted to stay next week but they are fully booked. Will definitely be there again really soon. The location is perfect if you love scenery and the tranquil atmosphere is second to none. My 4 yr old also loved it here. Great leave if you have a pet too. The walks are fantastic. With breath taking views. You get what you pay for. It’s cheap and cheerful so no point in complain about the decor etc if you book here. Makes no sense in my opinion.

I did not like the Night Manager trying to enter my room with his pass key at 1:45am on Sunday morning!!! This spooked me and spoilt my trip, resulting in a nasty case of delayed shock, including migraine and vomiting. Fortunately before retiring I had taken the precaution of barricading the door with my musical instruments, overnight bags and a very noisy security device, which alerted me to the intruder. I phoned the police at that time, who are very interested in this individual.

Would not book this dated hotel ever again. We stayed 2 nights and had 3 rooms.. we did think about checking out on the first night. The place is so dated and unclean, the staff are very young and seem to lack experience in customer services

Stayed here a few times, shame the kitchen wasn’t open for a cooked breakfast, but the room only price was very reasonable. Nice area especially if you like country walks around the Wrekin.

Overal ok room. We were only sleeping for one night. Got there late & left early. Area outside needs a gardener. But for my needs it was ok. In middle of nowhere & could do with an update. Could see light through the frame of my room door Ok if you have pets & if like walking in woods its good.

A good hotel for a good price. The hotel staff were friendly and solved our problems quickly and easily. Rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable! Would have liked the restaurant to be open or room service, but this was not available so we had to get a food delivery. Breakfast, however, was well priced and had a good selection. Gym was also closed. Location was beautiful - our room over looked the lake and was lovely to sit and have a coffee on the balcony. Would consider booking again when I am next in the area.

The hotel is very tired and has been neglected during the last year. Our twin room was clean and everything was okay. They do not provide meals, just a continental breakfast at £6-50. Alright for one night at the price, but probably wouldn't stay again.

I have stayed at this hotel twice before you then could get food delivered to your room. This time there was no food available and had to go to a pub to find a meal, no breakfast available again had to go out to find some and no bar. Definitely the worst stay I've had there and will not be going again. Hugely disappointed.

Hotel is very quiet. Lovely location but rooms are dated. Some cosmetic issues such as broken light fitting, toilet roll holder. Biggest issue is there is no restaurant for Dinner.
