Tropicana Suite Hotel

Parking was very limited for the size of the hotel.

The hotel is in a great location with free parking (bonus for a city break), the hotel is 15 mins walk from Canada Place and Stanley Park. It’s located near the shopping area of downtown. Our room was good, however some of the lighting required attention, the furniture is ok if a little tired in places,. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was hot with good pressure. The staff were excellent throughout our stay. A great breakfast is to be had at Cora’s directly opposite hotel. We had a great time in Vancouver

The place is old and run down but clean. Location is good being fairly central and the included parking was great for our rental car. The service was great, our travel there was delayed by a day and the hotel was happy to refund the day that we didn't stay without us even asking. We would definitely stay there again

Nothing! worst customer service ever. We waited over about 45mins for the receptionist to come down stairs to check us in. They charged me an extra $20 for my sister who was not even staying with us just visiting even tho onsite say 10 a extra person sleepin in room. She then was asking why we only needed to stay for one night and what wher are intentions as to why we where there one night. i told her its none of her business as to why we where staying. The receptionist was so rude to all customers my husband went to put are bags in the truck just before check out time. when my husband got down to the lobby the receptionist yelling at a family regarding there stay so as my husband was walking out with are bags she started yelling room 1204 1204 1204 and when my husband didnt realize she was trying to get his attention she scream at him 1204 you have less then 20 mins left of check out time and you need to leave the key here when you take out your bags my husband like why my wifes still in the room and were still packing stuff up there so hes like no ill bring it down when we check out the family that the receptionist was yelling at was talking to my husband saying how shes so nasty to everyone who comes in. Tropicana is so run down ill never stay there again. one of the elevator wasnt working and a person who we where talking to said the elevator been down for a couple mouths the one that was working was so slow and sketchy you didnt know if you where stuck or moving.

not what we expected for $397 for two nights! No extras, no amenities, no pool, no café.

Our expectations weren't high, based on the description of the property. We knew there was no AC, for example. It was pretty noisy with the windows open (Saturday night) until after midnight, then settled out a bit. The furniture appears to have been original with the building in the 60's, though the bed was okay. The couch is a spine-killer, and the TV only had a couple of channels. The place was clean, just old and a bit tired. But for our one-night stay, it did the job. There's lots of stuff to see, and places to eat within easy walking distance, and seemed safe. The free parking is appreciated, but the lot is very small. We lucked out and got a spot though. Overall a bit over-priced for what it is, but tolerable.

What a sad place this is. I’m sure it was an adequate apartment house in 1955, but it looks like it’s unrennovated since. Dirty, no air conditioning no lobby no amenities and a snarling unwelcoming desk staff. I’m sure the owners will make a fortune when the building is torn down which apparently will be pretty soon

Clean room, incredible view, kind and helpful staff

This room was disgusting. Room wasn’t clean, garbage was removed from previous renter, stained mattresses, broken patio door glass, no screen on window. Charging $350 for this room is insane.

Checked in, the hotel is VERY DATED! Room was disgusting. Found bed bugs on the sheets. Checked out & canceled reservation. Front desk was polite & canceled reservation without a hassel.

This property was in a relatively nice area. The rooms were absolutely disgusting. They were dirty. The windows were dirty. The bed had bugs. Damaged damaged walls that were drywall padded, but not re-painted. The lampshades were stained. We ended up not staying. Establishment.

It’s an older building but it was great for my needs. You get exactly what is advertised. The room was clean and quiet. It was a good price for the location.

Tropicana Suite Hotel is dated HOWEVER the rooms were immaculately clean and ALL the staff were outstanding. This is a great location walking distance to Stanley Park & Cruise Terminal. I highly recommend this for your stay. Our apartment had a full size fridge, oven and all cooking facilities. House keeping attended to the room daily.

The rooms are absolutely beat down. There were cockroaches in the bathroom. Some of the lights were not working. Bathroom was gross. Basically the place looked like it was a homeless den from east side Hustings. Had to sleep in my clothes because on top of the bed just in case.

The room smelt like mothballs, stained floors, love seat and lamp shades. There were cockroaches in the kitchen area. The bed was clean and comfortable. The staff were very nice.

Great staff and location. Building is older and no A/C, which is fine since there are windows. But mainly wish there were screens on the windows to prevent pigeons from entering the unit (which happened a couple times during my stay).

It’s an old building but located in a great area. Room is an apartment so separate rooms if someone snores. Windows do not keep road noise down but not to loud from 1 am till about 6am. No AC so if it is very hot out might want to stay elsewhere. Over all satisfactory.

The hotel unit was dated but clean. It is a large apartment style suite with full kitchen, bedroom and living room. It alsi includes a small balcony. I stayed in late October and the unit was cold as the windows were drafty. Overall, the hotel is a nice budget friendly place which is close to downtown and many attractions. The furniture was dated but the price was reasonable. I would stay there again.

It is quite an old hotel,but very good for the price. I really enjoyed the location, suite, staff friendliness etc. but there was one issue that detracted from my time there and that is the Wifi and its reliability. It wasn't something that I thought worth discussing while there as I accept it is what it is ... but it is something that other guests may wish to be aware of. The ongoing issue was that I would often be disconnected from Wifi / were being reconnected frequently / would get a message saying connected to Wifi without internet etc. I got around the issue by going to coffee shops etc. to connect, which was a bit inconvenient but didn't really affect my enjoyment of my time at the hotel.

Good view

It's older and needs a bunch of work but for the price -- it's good. Hotel prices in Vancouver are insane so finding anything under $300 a night was a bonus. I'm pretty sure that It said it had air conditioning - our room didn't have any (and I don't think other rooms did either. Wasn't a big issue as we were able to get cross breeze moving between the rooms. Lots of space in the room.

Great view and centrally located, only issue we had was the oven did not work in the room we were in. Only stayed one night so not a big issue for us.

The rooms were so spacious it was so great to just have a place to chill that was super large, and the view was really nice.

Our stay was for two nights after an Alaskan cruise and it was great. This is not 5 star but an older style apartment suite with full facilities and in a great area. Its on Robson and there is everything at your finger tips. Its 15 minutes walk from Stanley Park and a 40 minute walk to Canada Place. On our arrival Ansa was terrific and we had great service from everyone.

This was EXTREMELY disappointing, I will be contacting the hotel directly in order to get some sort of a refund as well. The staff was disinterested and could not answer the most basic of questions. They initially would not let me pay with a debit card, tried to make us pay credit saying it was hotel policy, then when we objected, finally let us pay with the card we chose. Next, the lady, who was quite rude, told us we were getting the "best room." If that was the best room, I don't want to know what the others looked like. There were red streaks on the wall in the bedroom and ceiling in the washroom. The place was untidy as a whole. Finally, the key, which was a physical key, got stuck in the door, meaning we had to latch the door at night or else someone could have walked right into our room. When we asked for help, none was provided.

Amazing front staff and amazing suites

Only booked this hotel because all other options were exhausted. Ridiculously overpriced. Rude and dismissive front staff on check in. Room was open/unlocked on arrival. Room very outdated and smelt of cigarettes. No towels in the bathroom. Toilet constantly running. Key got stuck in door - 5 people tried to get it out - hotel staff made it sound like it was my problem to resolve?! Hotel in need of major renos/TLC.

We were able receive an early check in. The room was ready, clean and spacious. The shower had good pressure and the water was hot The staff were super friendly in our coming and going. It is located within walking distance to many places to visit and eat. Cora’s across the street was a good breakfast option. So good! If you don’t mind no air conditionering and enjoy having the windows open for ventilation, I would highly recommend Tropicana.

All managers / front desk clerks we encountered went above and beyond for us.

We were checked in by Asna. She was great. She let us check in early and was very quick with the check in process. The room we stayed in had a great view and everything we needed. The hotel also has free parking! She also checked us out and let us keep our luggage in storage while we were out downtown.

Great location closecto cruise port, Seawall and Sranley Park. Lots of shops and restaurants closeby. Nice size suite apartment but the property is VERY dated and in disrepair. The staff was amazing! Super friendly, helpful and gave us lots of great recommendations.

Excellent location, large rooms, convenient access to downtown area.

Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Probably not the place you want to spend your honeymoon, but for travelers wanting to be centrally located on a budget this place was perfect. A 24 hr Tim Hortons, a handy convenience store open till 2am, and a great Cora breakfast restaurant all perfectly placed within 50 metres. Would easily stay here again.

Easy to get to. Access to transport and closeness to shops. Great place.

I had good experience with staff as well as Location of the hotel.

This is an old property which has been upgraded, but still a bit dated. According to evening watchman, will likely not be operating after this summer, as it, along with nextdoor property will be razed for new condo complex. Good value for money until then, large suites, used to be a one bedroom apt.

Good location on Robson Street, near lots of dining and entertainment options. Older hotel, but good size rooms with amenities that all worked, albeit a little slowly. Staff late at night and early morning not so friendly, in day and evening was better. No problem getting taxi, even on Canada Day. Good value for money.

Its an old place. Dont expect too much. For the price you get what you paid for. But its in a very convenient location and in central downtown. Its walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

One of the most affordable hotels in the DownTown area, beds were clean, room service was great. Hotel is right next to our favourite ramen place, and walking distance from so many shops and eateries, based on Robson street. Had to get a new plug for the bath, but staff were quick to provide a new plug. Hotel was quiet, clean and provided excellent views of DownTown Vancouver from the balcony. I do wish they would sort their curtains out though, you can never fully close them and, despite being high up from the ground floor, you never really felt like you were getting full privacy in the living area of the suite. Overall though, a wonderful experience, had a fantastic anniversary with my partner, and look forward to celebrating our next anniversary there too!

Best price in the downtown area. Many dining options. Best breakfast restaurant across the street at Coras. Very happy with the property.

Not a fancy hotel, but the area is really conveinent for Stanley Park and walking around Vancouver. Great food amd cafes near the hotel. There is no Air Conditioning which is mostly fine, slept with the windows open. A pigeon walked in for a bit. Super chill.
