Pet friendly, lovely setting

Overall was ok… room was in a questionable state it was relatively modern but furnished with broken/tired items and old TV. Good condiments provided. Corridors were very dated and could do with a big refurbishment as carpets are worn, ripped and peeled upwards. Car park is not clear when it comes with paying, I wasn’t aware parking was covered if staying in the hotel and signage didn’t indicate this. Staff, service and food were of a good quality and good portions. Location is lovely.

Lovely picturesque. Room spacious and clean. Property in whole could do with a bit TLC in areas. Free parking bonus.

Lovely setting right on The Thames and very dog friendly. I would suggest a bin for doggie poo would be very useful.

Splendid situation overlooking the river Thames. Ample car-parking. Buildings well maintained, a very comfortable room, well equipped, super bed. Good food especially the breakfast . Friendly hosts and attentive staff. Cleanliness impeccable.

Had stayed previously so knew what to expect in terms of its pretty riverside location and facilities. However I left disappointed and probably won't return. I booked the Snug, an identity I'm confused by as the room had less to commend it than the previous one I stayed in. It's poorly ventilated, the only window opens above a fire door and smoking area, a fact I discovered when I awoke to visible cigarette smoke in the room. The bathroom had no storage and no towel rail, and smelt unpleasant upon arrival. The carpets in my room and in some public areas were not clean and there seemed a general lack of maintenance around the place. The service is pleasant enough without being particularly attentive or warm. There's a reasonable amount of on-site parking, which is free to guests. Yes it's at the more affordable end of the spectrum, but even for what I paid I've had better elsewhere locally. Cleanliness seems an issue, t

Great food. Great sized room Good shower Dog friendly Still in throws of being refurbished- tatty carpets in corridor/ stairs. Restaurant lacks atmosphere. Great food though and very comfortable Superb setting- so much potential Staff very friendly and helpful.

3 nights and sunny during the day. I could quite happily not gone anywhere and just sat watching the river. Breakfast very good. No draught bitter in bar but rough it with bottle's of speckled hen.

The Hotel is in a lovely location, right next to the River Thames. The Staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The Room was lovely and clean with a great view of the River We stayed at the Hotel for two nights and had Dinner both nights. The Food was really nice and again, service was good. If I was being picky, it would’ve been nice to have had some complimentary Bottled Water in the Room on arrival. I would certainly stay here again and plan to do so in a few months time.

Mould in bathroom, fire alarm went off at 04:30am, lock for the door broken. Room was grubby

Position excellent Hotel grubby mould in the bathroom, flimsy walls so other guests could be heard, hot water not working one evening

Food was good. Staff all great. The building and rooms very shabby. Needed new carpets ten years ago!

The staff are very friendly and position of hotel excellent! VERY rundown! We booked a large twin standard room! I asked when we arrived for a refurbished room and was told it was! Small room, refurbished about 10 years previously! Stained walls, VERY tatty chipped furniture, one bedside table was a chair! Stains on the ceiling and a few cobwebs. Security bar on the door was missing the hook. No mirror in the room although there was a hairdryer. Had to fill the kettle with a glass as the kettle didn’t fit under the tap! The shower had mouldy grouting ect although had good water force. The flooring was cracked. No toilet roll holder and towel rail over the toilet was VERY small able to hold 2 towels at max. Plus side a small desk fan was supplied and there was an iron. Although a reasonably cheap price the standards should be better!! The public stairs were extremely shabby with threadbare carpets, taped joins. Such a shame to see what was once a lovely hotel fall into such disrepair!!

Food was very very good. Staff pleasant, friendly and helpful. Cleanliness good. Beautiful white tablecloths and napkins. View from hotel is fabulous as it’s right on river with barges. Building is unfortunately very tired and needs complete renovation and painting.

Hotel decor needs updating. Single bedroom very cramped, also bathroom. Food OK.

The hotel is a bit basic but comfortable, you can see they are slowly refurbing the hotel bit by bit. It’s a shame the swimming pool isn’t up and running. I’m it’s hay day it must of been lovely. A great location, the room was clean, the four poster bed was lovely, and the bathroom was fantastic. Needs a lick of paint in places and some new carpets. Both breakfast and dinner was good. The location is the best thing with fantastic walks which our dog loved!!!

Very tired dated and small room. Strange wiring to bedside lights (with no bulbs) heating not working, been given a small electric radiator in the corner of the room. Scruffy walls with chunks out of them. Certainly not a £135 room. More like £40-50. Not impressed

The room was good but the bed was very squeaky. The view of the river was great. The stair carpets were worn and general decor needed brightening up. The dining area was not isolated from the bar making it very noisy.

We travelled 200 miles for a one‑night stay, collecting our key around 4pm before visiting family. Returning at 10pm, we bought drinks from the bar, paid immediately, and went to our room. At first the hotel seemed fairly quiet, but as the night progressed noise from the bar, outside, and downstairs grew worse, accompanied by piped Christmas music until 1am. Loud talking, shouting, and laughter continued until 2:30am, leaving us with barely three hours of broken sleep before a full day’s work and travel home. No warning was given of any events when we checked in, yet a large group of drunk guests from one company disrupted the night and treated it as a joke the next morning. The room itself was nicely presented but poorly located above the entrance and bar, next to a bridge, so traffic noise and headlights added to the disturbance. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, making rest even more difficult. This was our third stay, and while rooms at the back are quieter, this experience was unacceptable. Attempts to contact the hotel via Facebook Messenger went unread and unanswered. At checkout, staff did not ask about our stay, and we discovered an incorrect bar charge on our bill, though it was promptly removed. Overall, the lack of sleep, poor communication, and disregard for guest comfort mean we will very likely not be returning.

Not brilliant. The WiFi kept dropping out which made it impossible to do any work. The tv gave up the ghost and had no reception after an hour. Loads of plastic miniatures of nice toiletries but really not green! Nor was the fan heater plugged in in the room as there was no radiator. Clean and serviceable but pretty tired and don’t try and access the internet! Breakfast was great

Wonderful stay at the Shillingford Bridge Hotel. Fantastic view of the river, made even better by the early morning frost. We had a little confusion over the breakfast time but the lovely ladies working there made sure our stay wasn't blighted and accommodated us. Thank you very much. We wouldn't hesitate in returning.

Have stayed here a few times now when working in the area, rooms have been really clean and comfortable. Food in bar area has been fantastic. Friendly team of staff from reception to breakfast in the morning the cherry on top as a lovely team

The location and views were spectacular. The breakfast was very tasty but the service was average. The decor needed modernising

The brilliant staff offer a warm and friendly welcome and serve the most delicious breakfast menu. We were very impressed that they were able to cater for our child, who has a dairy allergy. The family accommodation was warm and had a lovely view of the river and scenic bridge. Beds were comfortable, but we were disappointed with the cleanliness of our accommodation upon arrival. Management dealt with our complaint speedily, and to their credit, offered a partial refund by way of an apology. Overall, this was a lovely place to stay due to the staff and menu.

I'm a regular visitor still never had a bad visit. Good food and service. Room are great.

Fantastic location right on the banks of the Thames River, ample fee parking and plenty of lovely country & riverside walks. Staff extremely friendly & helpful and food first class, breakfast freshly cooked and plentiful. River view room spacious with great views. Only downside is the hotel in general is looking a bit neglected and could do with a refurb. Enjoyed the stay and would book again.

Older facility but well maintained with lots of charm and picturesque location on the Thames River. Excellent dining on site.

Overall, we thought the Hotel was good and the location was great for Oxford and the surrounding area. Unfortunately it was a bit shabby in the corridors but the room was nice and clean. The food was excellent, we couldn’t fault it and the staff were really nice and friendly.

The Hotel building itself is dated however the service and rooms were top notch, the location is simply outstanding especially if you are a walker ( try the Thames Path )... As for the Staff they are awesome, simply awesome...

Dinner and breakfast food was delicious. Room was comfortable clean and quiet. Staff were friendly. Lovely spot by the river. Only issue I had was the shower had no cold water and was scalding hot but it didn’t ruin my stay in any way. Would highly recommend.

The hotel was very clean and it was a comfortable stay. I could see there was signs of renovations but the main areas and corridors are in desperate need of attention and brings the overall feel of this hotel down. It is somewhere I would book again with the hopes that this is part of a long term vision for the hotel, to be completely renovated. The food was amazing (one of our best meals at a hotel) and staff friendly. Overall the good out weighed the bad 😁

My room was clean, and the bathroom was pleasant. The weather was warm, and the room was equipped with a fan. I had a comfortable night's sleep in the bed. Breakfast was a highlight, featuring a good quality buffet with a variety of juices, cereals, and breads, along with a cooked selection and great-tasting coffee.However, the hotel is showing its age and could benefit from a refurbishment. The carpets are worn, and the doors lacked proper handles. While the location and staff were definite positives, a general update is needed to bring the hotel up to modern standards.

Perfect for our overnight stay! Food quality was an unexpected bonus! We had a lovely evening meal with helpful service. Breakfast was very good too. Hotel itself was in great position next to the river. Decor was very tired in accomodation areas, but our room was clean, well furnished & the bed very comfortable.

Bit of a dive. Once glorious, now very faded. Confusing internal signage, threadbare carpets in public spaces, dark corridors and hasn't seen a lick of paint this century. Breakfast was fine, but no accommodating food intolerances or allergies. Idyllic location which deserves better.

Lovely location next to the river, Excellent food and service, free breakfast. Was running a wedding reception too and easily coped with other guests
