Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Gulf Shores

Overall our stay was average. We stayed two nights. We got in late on the first night and the hotel was a bit difficult to navigate to. Reception wasn't rude, but wasn't the friendliest either. The hotel has two buildings & the first building (where our room was) did not have an elevator. There were electrical difficulties on our first morning, so breakfast was lacking; the attendant was very apologetic, though. It was still a bit disappointing. The second morning, everthing appeared to be working fine. The breakfast area is small & was crowded, though. Pancakes were a hit, but only one pancake machine. The pool was very small. No pool hours were posted anywhere that I could see; I had to ask the front desk. The second floor hallway (where our room was) was very hot, but the AC unit in our room worked fine & our room stayed cool. The room and bathroom was small in my opinion, but we didn't stay in there for long periods except to sleep. This would not be my first choice to stay at again; however, it would not be opposed to stay here again.

Swimming pool needs greater care. It is a very small pool for soo many people. It should probably get shocked daily when thier is high use. The drains should be cleaned of debris daily! Regardless the grounds and rooms are vey good in our buikding(#3)

Even though the building we stayed in only had two floors, I found it very odd there was no elevator. Room was clean but didn’t have a clean scent.Breakfast options were good, had to walk to the other building though.Very convenient location, about a 4-5 minute drive to the beach.

The property has two separate buildings, but only serves breakfast in one of them leaving you to walk across the parking lot to get your breakfast.

Breakfast was in another building, the pool was never cleaned and no one put chemicals in it the 5 nights & 6 days we stayed. Grateful I was on the ground floor, but near the exit so I could hear people entering and exiting, you can hear the people in the rooms on either side of you. Over all could’ve been cleaner upon arrival. Staff were kind people tho.

1st we were told that the elevator was not working only to find out the next morning that there is not one in that building.

Hotel was nice enough. Not much of a breakfast offered. No frig in our room. Outside pool was nice.

Dated and the pool was tiny & cloudy. Service was good, housekeeping was very nice. Breakfast was eggs, biscuits & gravy, plus fruit, a pancake maker, cereals, & muffins. Short drive to fun stuff. Room was very small.

Close to the beaches, and lots of things to do around the area. About 12 minutes away from the Foley Event Center where we had volleyball tournaments for the weekend. One thing my girls did not like was there is no elevator, but then again there is only 2 floors. Breakfast is in another building so you’d have to walk over there with roomcard to access the doors.

Was clean and tidy. Pool was small but nice. its off the beaten path so you had to drive to beach area and all the shops.

Very clean rooms. The property was clean and well lite. I felt safe there traveling alone.

The room was dirty and several things broken. Light bulbs out. The room was real muggy and not fresh. Fire alarm hanging from the ceiling. Dingy towels. Had to walk to a different building to have free breakfast. One of the workers dropped the bottom of the coffee pot beside me and splashed it all over my leg, no apology or acknowledgement, just stared at me.

Filthy floors, ceiling tiles loose , I would venture to say there is mold. It was plain dirty everywhere. Needs repairs from the front door through the whole building even the elevator. Water standing on the floor in front of elevator, coffee pods still in the coffee pot. Spilled a little water in our room wiped with towel is was black dirt, lots of filth

Outside grounds have ants all over. Can’t put your bag down to unload car. Walked in and the front desk staff continued their conversation in broken English and barely spoke to me. Lobby was dim and unkept. Was told no elevator in our building. Walked up to 2nd floor with tons of bags and two kids. Heard dogs barking in hallway. Got to room and upon entering, the smell of mildew was overpowering. The rooms air and carpets moist. Speaking of carpet, it turned our white socks BLACK on the bottom. Visible stains on curtain upholstery. Walked to the air conditioner to turn it down and killed a two-inch sized roach on the ledge by the window. Bathroom has large cracks around tub black and brown with gunk. The light switches and door handles were wiped down by myself with a Clorox wipe and I removed brown and black grime from them. Picked up the phone to call front desk-no surprise-no answer. Since it was after 11pm, there was no other option for our family. We promptly left in the morning, notifying a different front desk person of concerns. Was offered no consolation or apology. $250 room was more like a $75 a night or “by the hour” type of establishment.

The shower and sheets had excrement in and on them. Didn't even want to sleep on the uncleaned sheets. Had to literally wash the shower before you could get in it. Disgusting!

The room was very clean, staff very nice

Ice machines did not work on either floor of the 1st building, not enough tables for breakfast, room smelled musty and moldy, the floor was icky, had to wear shoes the whole time. Overall, pure nastiness

The place was filthy. A sewage smell came from the bathroom. The bathroom faucet was disconnected from the sink. The hall carpet was dirty. The trash cans in the stairwell were overflowing. God almighty, how is the Wyndham name associated with this place?

Enjoyed my stay very much property was clean rooms were clean The staff was excellent a very nice place to stay as far as I'm concerned nothing fancy but a very clean safe environment I would recommend this place to anyone I will be staying there again I have stayed there in the past and this recent visit did not disappoint very satisfied highly recommend

Mold on sheets

The room was small but nice. It was definitely good for two beach bums that only intended to shower and sleep there. The continental breakfast was suprisingly good. They had southern bisquits and sausage gravy there for me every morning. Probably, the surprise for me was a nearby road that was significantly less traveled that made Orange beach a lot easier of a drive without all of the gulfside traffic on the main drag. We took a lot of advantage of this getting to restaurants, FloraBama and Cotton Bayou beach in Orange Beach which was less crowded than most others.

The staff was very helpful. The room was very clean. It was very quiet and the carded access made it feel safe. My only complaint was the TV was too small for the room and the reception was questionable. The remote did not work half of the time.

We stayed on the first floor. The rooms are very small, the air conditioning unit is really loud, and you can hear everything going on in the hallway. I am a light sleeper, so the noise level was not the best because I kept waking up in the middle of the night. It was also very overpriced for such a small room.

No easy access, very little counter space in bathroom, no where to sit in room

The room was tiny, cramped, and overwhelmingly humid. It was actually less humid outside than it was in my room. The AC is ancient and needs to be replaced as it seemed to make this issue worse.

The room was clean. The walls are too thin. You can listen to conversations next door. The doors are too loud and sound like if you are slamming it.

Room size was smaller than the typical double queen room in other hotels.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. I know that this a humid area, but The building smelled moldy to me. Also the lighting in the room was terrible. I believe a staff member said that they are in the process of renovating, so maybe the extras had not be added. The rooms are not well insulated and could hear the guest next door. The beds were comfortable.

First the staff was amazing. They were so friendly and ready to answer any question you had. We stay often at Microtel but this was so much smaller than any we had stayed at. No place to hang your clothes and no drawers. That should be a part of the description of the hotel. This is not very convenient for more than a couple of days.

Staff was extremely rude. Told us different check in times. Every time we tried to check in, they told us another more hour that the maids were “slammed”. Ended up getting another hotel bc we were tired of sitting on the car. Do not recommend.

I am single mother of 2 my kids and I checked into this place on a Friday night. Our room was located in the second building. The second building doesn’t have a front desk and that’s where breakfast is located. I locked the bolt lock and the pad lock that night before going to bed, around 12am or 1am someone unlocked my door. I yelled get out of my room. The pad lock was the only thing that stopped the person from coming in. I reported it to the front desk and the lady told me my locks malfunctioned. I travel a lot and I’m familiar with Key cards. If or when a bolt lock is locked at a hotel the light will flash red you will not be able to unlock the door with a key card. Someone used a master key to open my door. She changed my room and apologized. My new room had no blankets. I asked the front desk for blankets, the lady told me they didn’t have any because the other guest had been asking for blankets all day.

The staff was friendly and very helpful.

We always stay here every year, our first room, the ac wasn’t working. I went to the lobby and the 2 young ladies working on June 1-2 were phenomenal. Couldn’t remember their names, but got us to a different room with no issues. Will definitely book again. Great staff

The receptionist gave me a room that other people were already occupying. We were given a room on the first floor in the back building, luckily there was nobody in the room that I walked in to but there was a dress up and several bags so I was very confused and I had immediately went back to the front desk to ask for another room. It was very uncomfortable walking in to a room that already had things in it and it was very awkward to have to go back and explain to the receptionist that I needed a different room as she played it off like “that should never happen.” We were then given a room on the second floor rather than the first floor. The bathtub was quite dirty and it was quite difficult to sleep with the provided pillows as they were small but other than that it was an average room considering the price. Breakfast was okay, however the pancake machine did not have mix and was not ready to use when we went down for breakfast.

It wasn't the experience we had the first time we stayed. The customer service at the front desk was horrible

The rudest staff for no reason

The front desk staff was very rude. I had to change rooms because my air didn’t work in first room. But for most part it was ok for what I needed for the weekend.. I wouldn't stay again

The property was very nice, good hot breakfast. A few miles from the beach. Close to lots of restaurants. Nice pool, not real big, but nice. I would definitely stay there again.

This location is close to the beach without have “on the beach” prices. It was clean and updated, and everyone was friendly.

Very quiet and clean. Hard to get to, entrance was hidden we wouldnt have found it if not for GPS.

The hotel is centrally located between Gulf Shores and Foley , great beaches in one direction and great shopping in the other.

For one person, the room I reserved was plenty of space. It was conveniently located near good restaurants and close enough to the beach if you were to go. The only thing I will say is that the entrance to the hotel was dark and it is the only entrance to the parking lot, so it could be easily missed. Overall, I had somewhere to sleep and I enjoyed it.

This was a nice facility with friendly staff. The location was great for the different attractions in the area. You can't really walk safely to any attractions but the drive was short and easy.

I like the location laid back

Access was an issue first day figuring out how reach building from highway. After that, all was good. Family really enjoyed the breakfast options each day. And we felt hotel was centrally located for our time in and around Gulf Shores. We may very well return next year.

Nice hotel for the price. Restroom in room needs updating, old fixtures. Hotel site is hard to get in and out of.

The lady that checked us in was not very helpful. But I do have to say when we went for breakfast the lady was “The Best” and VERY helpful, She was keeping everything clean and stocked.

We were big fans of the breakfast but other than that everything was amazing

Every morning a full breakfast was served and the staff there were so nice and cheery. Makes for a good start to day. Really nice staff there. Very busy

Pancakes not cooked all the way.

Couldn’t find the staff half the time for clean towels and to get other things, the front desk was in a separate building, the rooms are nothing like the pictures, the fire alarm kept going off the first night we were there in the hallway, the last day we were there, they were out of most of their breakfast items

Wonderful hotel! Would have liked a work out room and ESPN. Great breakfast and exceptionally clean.

The place was very nice and met my needs but I would suggest a sidewalk to the pool from the second building. You have to walk in the grass to get to the gate. The breakfast offered many options but it didn't change day after day. If you stay for a while you get tired of the same yogurt and muffin flavor every day and it had sausage everyday, what about bacon?

Everything was good, people were a little loud in the hallways. The makeshift closet was in a bad spot, you could run your head into it if not paying attention. Sticks out in the hallway, it's just a small shelf right about your head. Breakfast wasn't great, everything picked over. Still a good place to stay for the price.
