Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Jacksonville-South by IHG

This stay was excellent, the staff on hand morning til night always friendly and helpful. Breakfast crew was also great. The handicapped parking was short but they mad better arrangement for me. I will stay here again. The pool guy really kept the pool so clean. This made my trip special because my visit was abot seeing ny sick son.

We booked through Expedia. Our original booked room wasn’t available and they called me to upgrade me to a King room. When checked in we were upgraded further to a King Suite. Travel to the Town Center was easy there and back and great walking distance to Dave and Buster’s. Check in here is a breeze. It was indicated the pool is being renovated online and free parking is available. No vending from what I saw, signs point to their shop in the lobby. Breakfast is until 10am which was appreciated since not everyone is an early riser.

Check in was super easy, friendly staff, full breakfast, clean room, and well-lit parking lot. Great for the price! Would stay again and only 15 minutes from the beach!

The room and premises were clean and had no bad odors. The room was setup nicely and the bathroom was spacious and there were plenty of soaps and other toiletry products available for use. It seemed to be in a nice safe area and close to a main roadway for convenience. The breakfast had many options and the food was higher quality than I had expected. I recently stayed elsewhere in Jacksonville and I can say this was a much better experience.

I chose this hotel due to its proximity to the USCIS office. The hotel is clean, quiet, with good parking. Staff were always friendly and available, they were awesome with our toddler smiling, chatting and playing with her. We also enjoyed the pool that was spotless.

The bathroom is old with dirty grout between the tiles. Saw a roach crawling around the bathroom when I got up at 5am. The carpet has some obvious stains.

Booked this as an overnight stay as we traveled to Port Canaveral. The carpet was stained, the windows had condensation, and the room smelled musty. We were There around 12 hours time and I’m thankful we didn’t have to stay longer. Check in employee was very nice though.

The mustiness and smell of old cigarettes in two of the three rooms was overwhelming. The staff was very accommodating and changed our room three times. It was late and we were exhausted so we settled on the third room, which was not very clean, very musty, and the AC and bedding smelled of old cigarette smoke. This hotel needs a deep clean. However, their customer service was very accommodating. our TV remote did not work, but they replaced the batteries. This certainly did not meet the standards of an IHG Hotel, that we have ever experienced.

The window frame had what appeared to be mold growing but may be because it doesn’t look as if it’s been cleaned in months. The refrigerator still had food from another guest which means it wasn’t cleaned and the sink in the bathroom and shower were dingy. We stayed at the hotel for multiple doctors appointments and spent most of our time away from the hotel, the mattress felt like it had rocks inside of it. It’s obvious that they need to replace the mattresses and do some renovations to update the rooms. We didn’t have our room cleaned, as we always tried to avoid people coming in and out of our room, we always bring our own cleaning products in order to ensure the cleanliness of our stay. We will not stay at this property again. Staff were very friendly!!!

I try to stay at a holiday inn express wherever I am staying when away from home. Almost always I have no complaints, but I was pretty grossed out that the floor did not seem to be vacuumed as I found about a dozen plastic pieces from price tags. The toilet, bathroom floor AND the shower had hair all over them which I would assume was from the last guest. Besides the cleanliness of the room everything else was as I expected it to be for my stay.

It was great. However, the microwave didn't heat up and I had to go to the office so they could heat up my dinner. Also, was looking forward to a hot bath after an arduous day of moving my kid into the dorm. I even requested a room with a tub. However, the plug didn't work and the water drained out. Bummer.

The satellite TV was bad.

The rooms were very dated and could stand to be updated. The rooms didn't smell fresh or clean. I definitely would not stay at this location again. I made my selection based on the reviews.

Conveniently priced and located but very dated. Poor air conditioning, smelled like dirty mop and extremely flat old pillows.

The service was great, the room needed some updating but it didn’t bother us. What drove me crazy was the sound of the air conditioner. It made the most awful sound the entire time. I didn’t want to complain, we were only there for two nights.

Pretty outdated. Was too pricy for being that old.

The room was clean, the breakfast was good, the front desk was very accommodating and friendly. There were 2 problems with the room. First, the a/c left the room cold and wet. Second, the tub drain was very slow. We were standing in 3 inches of water within 5 minutes.

Check in was easy and the staff was quick to respond.

First I was assisted in sending an email. Secondly Maria checked my garbage can while I was at Jax airport to retrieve baggage tag and texted me information after I checked out. This helped clear up traveling plans. Saved me from traveling back to hotel from Jax airport.

Lydia the front desk attendant on the night shift was amazing. She was very helpful and super friendly. Lydia truly made our experience memorable.

Amazing customer service

I was informed that we were past the cut off time for checking in, so there was no longer a room for us. I was asked if we had called ahead, which I said “no”. The attendant stated that if I had, they could have put a note in the file, and she could have overridden the check in policy. I asked what if I said “yes,” but there was no note in the file. She stated that it could have been overridden and corrected by management the next day. I asked the attendant if I could speak to the manager who would have been able to make that override, so that my family could have a room for the night…to which I was informed that they were at home sleeping. I told the attendant that I’ve never run into this before…what happens if someone’s flight is delayed? I was told “this is a Holliday Inn Express…things work a little differently here because it’s an Express.” I asked what if anything she could do to get a bed for my 2 and 4 year old kids to sleep in…to which she said she could check me in at 3pm tomorrow during check in time. Thankfully, Expedia was able to provide me a refund directly, and I was able to get a room at the Marriott across the street with a single call and no questions asked by their staff.

Cleaning lady came in my room and stoled from me! Cameras supposedly dont work! High crime area. Bed was terrible! Awful stay and thievery pleaae do not stay at this horrible hotel

We were originally in 425. We went out for the evening and returned to our room smelling like weed. We reported it to the front desk and was moved with ne hesitation to room 421. Room was great but the left side of the bed squeaked so bad. That was the only issue.

The rooms were exceptionally clean, and the food was excellent, with much variety. We've been to many hotels over the last 12 months, and found that this was the only one to offer a wide variety of breakfast options together such as scrambled eggs, omelets, bacon, pork sausage, turkey sausage, and more. We consider this top notch hotel for a very reasonable price!

We liked that we weren’t far from eating and shopping establishments, but the hotel was more private. Not in a busy area. Staff was helpful! Breakfast was good!

Close proximity to major expressways

Convenient location adjacent to I95but well insulated to so no traffic noise was evident. A few restaurants around.

This is probably my 3rd or 4th stay because I take my wife to Mayo Clinic for her appointments. It is a perfect place, great price and the hotel is clean, staff is very friendly and professional. Excellent complimentary breakfast.

Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our room was not as clean as I would expect. The floors and tables had not been entirely cleaned. The shower was not clean. A hole in one of the lamp shades. The breakfast was sufficient but the food could have been warmer. I expected a little better for what we paid.
