Hotel Carmel

This was our first time staying in Carmel. The location was quiet and convenient to town. We were very pleased with the hotel on all accounts, the rooms, courtyard, Jacuzzi and grounds. Beautiful and charming! The staff could not of been more accommodating and most of all friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast with healthy and lovely! I look forward to stay again at the Hotel Carmel!

3 short blocks from Ocean Ave. Nice outside seating area with a fireplace and fire pit. Also nice jacuzzi.

What a charming little hotel! Our room was spacious. The beds were comfortable. We had a private balcony where we could leave the door open for fresh air. Property has an area with fire pit and hot tub. There is a Tavern attached to the hotel with great food, beer and service which we especially appreciated after a long day of travel. I would definitely stay here again when visiting the area.

Parking is a nightmare. First come, first served. And good luck finding street parking overnight in Carmel near the hotel.

We booked our stay here at the last minute and we were wonderfully surprised. The staff was so helpful and kind. The premises was charming and quaint and clean. The Libby was beautiful with a true cottage core feel. Loved the cookie and sangria on arrival. The color scheme. Outside was lovely cream and black trim with lush greenery hanging down . Inside was bright clean and so comfortable. We booked the king size bed and loved that the room had a fireplace. Nice tv coffe and bottled water with lovely wicker seating. Also love the seating infront of our room. The outdoor fireplace and seating was also lovely. This immediately became a traditional place for us for our next trip. Thank you so so much for making our stay lovely. Also we god a solid night sleep with the bed and loved that the windows and shutters opened. :-)

The hotel amenities, location, design and staff were all great. Our room was small but functional (other room types were larger). Great proximity to Ocean Ave shops and restaurants. Excellent breakfast provided and the hot tub was a great addition.

Our new go to place in carmel. Clean rooms fireplace is nice dont expect much heat though. Parking is first come first serve. Fills up fast and not alot of room.

Hotel Carmel has a fabulous outdoor fireplace, fire pit, mimosas & chocolate chip cookies in the lobby each night, a fantastic breakfast, and a wonderful staff! Our room was very clean and the property was extremely well kept. The Restaurants and shops are only a block or more away. If you are not a walker Carmel is not the place for you. It’s hilly and most of the side walks are not flat. This hotel does not have an elevator, and there are three floors. None of this bothered us, as we love to hike. We look forward to staying at Hotel Carmel on our next trip!

Our stay overall was safe and clean, but the property does not have guaranteed parking as stated on Expedia. There are a total of 13 parking spots available, some are hard to get into/out of and everything else is street parking which on main streets is limited to two hour parking from 8am-7pm daily. There’s a $40 amenity fee per day for breakfast and high speed internet that isn’t factored into the pricing given on Expedia, the overall charges were $300 more than anticipated. The room we were in as right next to the stairs; not only could we hear everyone coming up and down the stairs, people were also talking loud enough that it was hard to sleep. The room was clean, the service was great, but I would not pay as much to stay for 3 nights again knowing what I do now of the property. If you are social, they do offer mimosas with breakfast and cozy areas to chat with guests in their lobby, as well as cheese plates and wine from 4-6 pm which was nice. All social areas of the property close at 10- including the jacuzzi and the fireplace. The employees are all very kind and helpful, you can tell they love the area they live in. Brophy’s tavern was cute, but limited options if you have any dietary restrictions. There’s a $150 hold that you have to place on your card for the tavern/any amenities you use as well no matter what.

Clean room, comfortable bed and easy walk to town. The bathroom could use an upgrade, but they were clean. A few stains on the rug, but not terrible. Housekeeping supplied new towels and made the beds each day. Breakfast served was very simple.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. It is such a cute spot and very close to restaurants, shopping, and drinks! It is so quiet and serene. The room was very clean and tidy. The surrounding common areas were also very clean and inviting. I will definitely book again.

The property was quaint and sweet but due to the fog the rooms were damp inside and smelled funny. the bath tub had mold around the bottom and there was no air conditioning. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms need some renovating.

Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff bent over backwards to help with questions and requests. Fire pit area was wonderful to socialize at. Hot tub was great. Would definitely stay here again!

The patio and spa are perfect. All staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. Brophy’s is worth a visit or two. The grounds and rooms are very clean.

Cute hotel with good service, but rooms need serious upgrades The hotel itself has a charming vibe and the service was friendly and attentive throughout our stay. However, the rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade. The carpets were old and lifting in several places, and the bathroom fixtures—showers, tubs, and toilets—looked outdated and frankly a bit gross. A big downside: our friends found a large spider on their bed, which was really unsettling. If the hotel invests in some renovations and deep cleaning, it could be a much better experience. Until then, I’d be cautious about booking unless you’re prioritizing location and service over comfort.

Overall, the hotel appeared to be clean. However, it was extremely dated, from the bathrooms to the beds. It felt more like a motel 6 than a "Hotel". Also, there were very few dining options that were close to the hotel. Luckily we were only there for 1 night. The staff were nice although they needed help as there was only 1 person working at registration. Bottom line, if you\'re just looking for a quick stopover to rest, this will do fine.

The property itself was very nice and the staff was incredible. The hotel was in a good location, walking distance to downtown. However, the walls are paper thin and we could hear everything from our neighbors… including them having sex. We were constantly getting woken up throughout the night and early morning. So if you want a relaxing place to sleep, this is probably not the place to stay.

Unfortunately, on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, the kitchen staff started playing music at 8am, which woke us up. We complained the first time and nothing was done. The second time, we had to complain again before they finally turned it off. It definitely took away from the otherwise nice stay.

Staff very nice. Great location! The hotel is older and could use some updating, especially the bathrooms and mattress was not the most comfortable (sagging in the middle). Expensive hotel for the overall quality of the room.

We were severely disappointed by our stay at this hotel. The pictures definitely led us to believe this was a much more luxurious hotel than it actually is. Our room was on the first floor, which was facing the street where construction was happening daily at 8 AM. The walls are thin and we could hear everything the upstairs guests were doing. Severe lack of privacy as there is no private patio, simply a hallway for all guests on the first floor. There is no AC. Outdated bathroom with poor water pressure. Many of the TV channels didn’t have signal. Parking is extremely limited and cramped. We had to resort to street parking multiple times. We did like the social hour with sangria and fresh cookies. The continental breakfast was nice as well. However, this is a 3 star hotel AT BEST and definitely not worth 300 nightly. We won’t be staying here again.

Property has an excellent location and is very clean. It has a lovely outdoor lounging area with a beautiful fireplace. The continental breakfast is tasty and fresh. However, I was very surprised to see that the rooms are not air conditioned and they encourage you to open the windows. The only windows in the room open to the main walkway of the property and didn’t feel comfortable opening them due to privacy matters. What kept our room comfortable was a fan that’s stached in the closet. The plumbing fixtures in the bathtub are old and very noisy.

The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything in the rooms next to you.

Hotel was ok considering the price. I will not be staying here again, there are other hotels and inns that are better value. I can afford to spend for hotels and the whole time I was in my room, I could not stop thinking that I spent $800+ for one night here. Never again. The shower was run down, had black grout. The sink had a crack. The floor squeaked when I walked. The worst is that I could not keep my shades open to enjoy the “ocean” view because the windows faced the walkway/exterior corridor to other rooms.

Hotel cute and quaint. Limited parking spaces. Great pub restaurant below hotel good food. Room cozy. TV service did not work properly. Service quite bad with house keeping. Last day Xmas Called for late checkout regulars check out 12:00 They gave until 12:30. At 10:30 cleaning maid knocked on the door to do room. We said no need and placed a do not disturb written note on the door handle from there after every 15min cleaning maid came knocking until 12:00. We ended up checking out at 12 as required. Was a very unpleasant experience.

Housekeeping kept knocking on our door when it was not even time to check out yet. Our room doesnt even have a “Do not disturb” sign. And even if we dont have the “Do not disturb sign, they should not be bothering like that until check out time which is 12 noon. Heater is too old it makes loud sound.

We booked a ring bed with fireplace AND did not get that. No fire place. They out us above the lobby. It was loud until 1:30-2am in the morning. I couldn’t sleep. I told the front lady clerk that we booked a kind bed with fireplace and not this. She told me I didn’t. I tried to show her my Hotels reservation.

This was our first visit to Hotel Carmel and it was a wonderful experience. The lobby staff, especially Anne, were inviting and helpful. We enjoyed the homey feel and it felt more like a B&B rather than a hotel. We will definitely be back!

Incredible experience at Hotel Carmel. Super attentive staff, wonderful room with very comfortable beds. The staff was attentive and fantastic. Thier Irish pub Brophy's has amazing food and is a fun dining experience as well. Great location as you can easily walk to Carmel Beach or the downtown shopping areas. Highly recommended.

We love the charm of the place. Have to mention the friendliness & sweetness of the reception personnel, esp. Anne & Kathleen, also Don.

Truly a lovely little boutique hotel in the heart of Carmel.

Parking is difficult to find if you arrive late. We really recommend arriving early and finding a spot. The area is extremely walkable so not driving around is not an issue.

Great place to stay. Walkable to restaurants and shoppes. Clean rooms, safe area and a hot tub! Nice complimentary breakfast/sangria. Tavern below the office area is also very good

We loved how friendly the staff was and the breakfast was amazing. We enjoyed the fireplace in the courtyard and the easy walk into town. We’ll be back!

My husband and I went to Carmel to celebrate our 40th anniversary. After looking at many hotels in the area, we chose Hotel Carmel for several reasons. One was the charm of the rooms. We loved the fireplace and the sitting area by the windows with shutters. We also loved the sitting areas outside of each room. The common outdoor area with the fireplace, fire pit and jacuzzi were great. I also appreciated the simple but quality breakfast that was provided. They have complimentary chocolate chip cookies in the afternoons. Brophy's restaurant is at the hotel and it was fantastic! We arrived later in the evening so it was nice that something was open and we didn't have to go anywhere. House keeping was fantastic! There is limited parking in the hotel lot but we were able to find street parking.

Yummy breakfast with wine, cheese and fruit in the afternoon and cookies in the evening. My boys loved the hot tub.

I stay 2 nights and They charged $250 for pet fees 😡crazy!! They also charged $40.00 daily on amenities plus amenities tax 🤔 Carmel is a beautiful place to go too! But this hotel is crazy expensive. Oh! And breakfast is really poor.

Excellent boutique hotel with nice amenities, walking distance to downtown, shops and galleries. Their pub Brophy’s serves good food and marvelous cocktails
