MacArthur Place Inn & Spa

A wonderful place to celebrate a special occassion. The spa experience was one of the best I have had and the dining and bar excellent! Our room was perfect with all the amentities we needed. Plus, close to great wine tasting and dining options. The staff really made us feel special too!

I would highly recommend staying here. We were here for my daughter’s 30th birthday. The property is gorgeous, it’s filled with flowers and flowering trees, not only does it look good it smells good too. From check-in to check-out every staff member we interacted with made us feel welcome and were super accommodating with even the smallest request. The location is great, it’s a few blocks from Sonoma Square. The pool came in handy for one of the heatwave days. Over all between the bar, the restaurant and just the vibe we had an amazing time!

Unfortunately the pool and spa were closed during our stay with no advance notice when we booked the room. Beyond that, beware the beds -- we have never strayed in a luxury resort with such soft mattresses, which rendered me with a back in spasms for the next 4 days after we left. It's unconscionable that a "new" mattress that is softer than a sponge cake could be put into a room (#57). If you cherish your back -- enquire about the mattress and check before you unpack. We also hosted a luncheon for 10 people on the Sunday at Layla and was disappointed with the lackluster service -- all this will amount to us staying in other luxury resorts next time we are in wine country.

This property is really nice and quiet but the rooms are showing their age with scratched floors and a housekeeping staff that does not check fluid levels in the soap and shampoo dispensers. One night there was no shampoo and the other night there was no soap. At checkin you are forced to leave your car in the driveway and unload baggage to the bellmen who then take it to your room. While ample parking appears to exist on the property the valet staff will not let you self park and while there is no valet fee, there is an air and expectation of a gratuity with each delivery of your vehicle. Breakfast pastries were less than exciting and the lack of fresh OJ and grapefruit juice was surprising for a place that claims to be 4+ stars. Beware of the $55 per night resort fee and other taxes and fees which are added onto your bill.

Gorgeous property! Great room. The pool area is under construction till this summer but overall great. Just thought the easter brunch was overpriced given the options

Absolutely loved our stay here. It’s a beautiful property with groups of buildings amoung art work and greenery, very peaceful. The rooms were modern and clean with great appliances, Dyson hairdryer and a steamer for keeping your clothes wrinkle free. Pool area was also very nice with attentive staff. The gym was small and could maybe squeeze in one more treadmill but they had a couple of peleton bikes and a great TRX suspension training setup. On the weekends they have yoga classes. The restaurant on site is Layla and the service and presentation was wonderful! We are already planning our next stay!

Our arrival was very welcoming, the staff was great, property, the room size & layout and pool were all nice. The first ding for me was when my girlfriend asked me to turn on music when we first arrived, I then pick up the remote, find music & I’m prompted to pay for a subscription. For me, that isn’t the way to set the mood. A few other things to mention is we were in an ADA room and the bathroom “barn” door took a little elbow grease to close/open. Fortunately the ADA features aren’t necessary for us but I did imagine this could be a challenge for a others.Additionally, The thermostat near the bed was fine but there was air blowing near the bathroom managed by a secondary control and in trying to turn it off part of the electric tripped. To leave on a positive note, the e-bikes were fun and zippy.

Good service in terms of communication when you want something. Sometimes you need to remind them to do certain things. I had to remind them to clean the fireplace and get a new duraflame for the room (yes I know first world problems but expected when you pay that much). Also be aware that the services are not included in the day price. You pay an extra $55 a day when you check out for basic hotel services.

Overall lovely. Nice setting. Conveniently located to great wineries and the Plaza. Staff very friendly. Room did have ants in an area. Restaurant is so so.

This place is dated, walls need repair, bath floor tiles where cracked, wall art behind the bed was falling in pieces, the light switches are difficult to operate. There is little noise insulation, we could hear the family staying next to our room. The cafeteria service was very slow, the menu has only 1 or 2 items for breakfast.

I saw this resort on Instagram, which I decided to go. The entire experience was just fabulous. I was welcomed with sparkling wine and upgrade to the suite with fireplace and back patio. The resort was breathtaking, everything was brand new and clean. Room was super clean and newly renovated with tons of upgrades. Love the option to have outdoor in the front porch or even back patio, also there was couple fire pits by the room which was just perfect. I had dinner and a drink at the bar, which was just an amazing experience with friendly staff. Unfortunately, I didn’t use the spa facilities because I had a short trip, but I plan to visit it again since it was a beautiful stay. I highly recommend this place, and I am looking forward to my next visit.

Staff were excellent, location convenient to walk into town, food was ok but little attention to details, water pressure in shower was low & the outside shower head wasn’t attached properly (the water didn’t flow through the head, but from the seal). Given the handicap accessible room (not requested) and although well appointed with low rods etc, there were no accommodations made for long hanging garments. No vineyard views!

We were very impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. The grounds and the room were immaculate.

The hotel was clean and has beautiful grounds. The rooms are very unique and they have several different types. The staff was friendly and always around if you needed anything, it definitely is well staffed. Food and drinks were incredible, they have great chef or chef’s on hand. My only suggestion to the people booking is book just straight through the hotel itself. I went thru a third party and will not do that again.

I loved the landscape of the property; it was tranquil and beautiful. Restaurant had great food and service. Convenient coffee shop for the mornings. Room was beautiful and clean. We will visit again

There was a lot of bugs in the room

Overall nice stay. Quiet area, valet parking was a breeze. We were checked into the wrong room unfortunately. We booked a suite with a tub, however was put into a room with an outdoor shower. There was a wedding going on at the exact same time so figured it was an oversight from front desk so we didn’t complain or mention it. Room service for dinner wasn’t great, but would recommend it for breakfast only. 7/10, would stay again if I could guarantee the correct room without the hassle.

This was my second time staying at McArthur Place and it did not disappoint. The grounds are beautiful-with so many special extra touches, like benches and outdoor seating with fire pits, water filling stations, sunscreen by the pool, and gliding benches. The rooms also include those thoughtful details that make your stay that much more luxurious-heated floors in the bathroom, Dyson dryers, snacks and beverages in your room at no charge, slippers you can take home with you, and an amazing shower. I brought my partner here to celebrate a milestone birthday and we enjoyed every second of it.

Very nice and comfortable stay! Has a lot of nice amenities, good food & drinks. Some noise from upstairs rooms (if you’re downstairs), but otherwise very quiet.

Amazing Stay at MacArthur Place Hotel! From the moment I arrived, the experience was outstanding. I was greeted by incredibly friendly staff who not only unpacked my car but also handled valet parking seamlessly. The team at the front desk was warm and welcoming, providing a helpful overview of the property, complete with maps, and they even treated me to a complimentary glass of champagne—such a nice touch! I was then escorted to my gorgeous room, which featured a stunning garden shower and an outdoor bathtub, offering a perfect blend of luxury and relaxation. The entire property was immaculate, with beautifully maintained grounds, and the staff went above and beyond to be accommodating. With wonderful dining options on-site and impeccable service, I can confidently say this is a 10/10 experience. I highly recommend MacArthur Place Hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious getaway in Sonoma. I can’t wait to return!

We only ended up staying at MacArthur Place for 30 minutes before immediately checking out and finding an alternate hotel to stay the weekend. Why the 5-star review, then? It's all in how they handled it, which to me is the mark of a great hotel. We're in peak wedding season in the Bay Area, and as such, many couples have chosen MacArthur Place for their ceremonies and receptions. Why wouldn't they -- a beautiful property right in the heart of Sonoma? The problem was with our room steps away from the grass lawn where they hold the ceremonies and dinners. And when I say steps, I literally mean I opened the front door to our room and was IN a wedding (with all the guests turning to look at me). And the bellman said there were 3 more weddings that weekend. I just couldn't shake the idea of being held captive in our room all weekend for fear we'd keep intruding on weddings. So I called the front desk and the manager immediately met me to show the ONE available room on the property. It was unfortunately a dramatic step down from the suite we booked. After making it back to our room, discussed with my partner and made the decision to leave. Without even asking for it, the manager (Kevin) said he'd refund the whole weekend. Mind you, this was a non-refundable booking. He also said he'd offer a free stay another weekend so we can get a chance to experience the resort after all. I'm still waiting for that, but the graciousness and understanding for the situation meant a lot.
