Haven’t been here for a few years, room updates are very nicely done. We were given an ocean view room even though we reserved a non ocean view. Location is great, a quarter mile from a happening downtown, beach is right in front of the place (see title) and the Ventura Promenade is a great walk. Things to be aware of: the 101 is very close and Amtrak goes in front of the hotel so bring earplugs if noise bothers you. Also parking is on you so plan on either $18/day for valet or $10 for self (self is very close and convenient).

The hotel is great. Clean, comfortable, nice lobby and hangout areas. Nice fire pits overlooking the beach. Casey the valet was OUTSTANDING and went above and beyond for me and my mom! He deserves a raise and a huge promotion! He made everyone else shine more. Our room didn't have the best ocean view, but I guess that's what happens with a hotel that doesn't really face the ocean. The thing that was really annoying though was the noise from the train and the cars.

Great hotel experience...we had our two golden retrievers with us and the hotel staff was very accommodating. Very friendly and courteous staff, great bar and outdoor seating. Was a phenomenal experience for wrapping up our so cal vacation before driving back to central Oregon. Highly recommend.

Pro: on the beach. Restaurants on-site. Fridge & microwave in room. Friendly staff. Parking complex next door was a reasonable $10 with in & out privileges. Pool on-site. Con: beach needs to be maintained. Hotel doesn’t have beach towels. Told I had to purchase which as someone flying that isn’t reasonable. Used my room towels. Something to note: it’s beside the railroad tracks so you hear the train come through multiple times a day. This didn’t bother me but it might some.

Great stay overall. A few mistakes, but got them worked out. A huge negative was the "Battling Pianos"! I'm sure thats not a nightly occurrence, but a huge noise factor for a quiet stay that went on until 11pm! (and we were on the 4th floor!)

We have stayed here many times. Love the restaurant on site. Walking the pier and the walk along the beach is wonderful. The only problem we had was that one room #517,was directly above the restaurant and on both Friday and Saturday nights they have extremely loud music from 8 to 10:30 pm. Had to use earplugs.

Anniversary; we stayed over the weekend. Beautiful and fun location; loved being at the beach and a short walk to downtown. Staff very friendly - We stored our bikes with the valet which was great! Impressive 5 out of 5 stars on clean! Bedroom very comfortable and smelled clean. Bed felt new. Room feels remodeled. (Even the lobby bathroom was clean throughout stay.) Great bar and patio looking out to ocean! We will be staying there again!

Nice! However, the room carpet nearest the bathroom was wet upon check in and it remained wet for the duration of the stay. Had to put down towels and then the room smell became water smell. 😒 Sydney was great and she replied to messages sent.

Carpets were filthy in hallways ways & elevator floors.? Room key lock out right at 11:00 when elevators are at maximum occupancy and can’t get bell hop because of everybody checking outat the same time.

The best part about this hotel is the location! It’s the only hotel located directly on the beach which explains the high daily cost. However, it’s an old hotel with old rooms. Carpet is dated and smells even in the “nicer” rooms. We had to switch rooms when we arrived because the first one had an awful intolerable musty smell. Bed wasn’t the most comfortable. Overall I wouldn’t pay over $300 a night in this place again.

I was impressed by the hotel's beauty and cleanliness. The location on the water was also a significant advantage. Nevertheless, I was disappointed by the front desk staff's lack of customer service, which was similarly inadequate during my previous stay. To enhance their performance, I strongly recommend that they participate in training seminars.

The hotel itself was in very good repair, beds were comfortable. The pool however was in desperate need of repair. There was visible black mold, stairs were so filthy and slippery. The mold on the side of pool and in grout. I let the staff know but there little done about.

Beautiful ocean views and lots of walkable food options. Noise from karaoke bar lasted until almost 11 pm and Amtrak trains run right next to the hotel. Also, the bathrooms have sliding barn doors that are noisy if you open them while others in the room are sleeping. I would still stay here though because of the positives.

This was a little weekend get-a-way for my husband and I. Picked a good weather weekend. The only thing we did not like, we had an ocean view room and the sliding glass door was not clear. I don't know what the problem was, but you could not see to the outside and there was no screen, so we were not able to enjoy the view.

Beware if you pay more for higher floors! The top floor is an event center. The walls in our room shook and the noise was unbearable to the point that you couldn’t hear the TV. And the noise continued until 11:45 PM!

On the one hand, the location is great, overlooking the ocean. On the other hand, it's right next to the 101 Freeway and the Amtrak rail line, so it's NOISY. VERY NOISY. The freeway noise never stops and when the train comes through, blasting its air horn, its LOUD. If ever I thought about staying here again, I'd ask if there was a room available on the side furthest from the freeway and train. Even then, I'm not sure it would be quiet. Easy access to Old Town, perfectly serviceable gym, the bar area is a nice place to sit and feel the ocean breeze.

We were there for one night on a Saturday. Because it was Sat. it was expensive. The hotel was relatively new and therefore the room was modern. It was small and the bathroom was small. The bedding was nice. Our coffee maker did not work and they gave me a $12 credit. The cabinetry was worn and door did not close. For the price they should have supplied robes to use. A friend that stayed in another room blew out the electric circuit twice with the hair dryer. The cost of the room was over $400 and I did not feel it was good value. We did have a view to the side of the beach and the parking lot.

Check in is trouble. Their check in time is 4pm and dozens of people were lining up at 4 to check in. People and luggage everywhere. Their process is also really slow, so the line just wasn't moving. We also had a fire alarm go off at 6am. No other communication so wasn't sure if it was real or not. Took about 20 minutes before another alarm went off to tell us it was a false alarm. The only staff at the facility that was friendly and helpful was the parking staff.

We arrived early and asked about early check-in. The manager told my husband they would call us when our room was available, that never happened!!! I asked about our around 3-3:30 and was told is still wasn't ready..... Then at 4:00 there was a crazy long line of people checking in!!! And then we had to stand in line!!! There is no way that all the rooms become available at 4:00. Why couldn't we have just checked in prior to 4:00. Was not happy, i know early check in is only a request and can't be guaranteed.... But to have to stand in line when we were told by a manager we would be called!!!!!!

We called a week before to inquire about early check in and were notified it is first come first serve but if a room is available early then we could check in. They new a concert would be this weekend (they were even a sponsor) and they continued to tell people early check in was an option only to be told that no one would be able to check in prior to 4pm. By 3pm there was a line of very angry guests all waiting for a room. We were then told that there was still a possibility that by 4 a room may still not be available. Then, to top it off, there is no way their “queen” size bed was a queen. It looked and felt much more like a full bed for my husband I to sleep in. I would not recommend staying at this hotel even if it is walking distance to the fairgrounds!!

I stayed here during a work trip and unfortunately had plumbing issues in my room. When I called the front desk, no one apologized or offered to move me to another room — they simply asked when maintenance could come by. I explained I had to be at work and they could enter anytime, but no follow-up was provided. I ended up leaving and checking into another hotel. At check-out, I was told I couldn’t get a refund because it was after 11 AM and I “should have reported it earlier,” even though I had notified them when the issue happened. Later that afternoon, I received a text message asking for feedback about my stay. I shared the same concerns I had given the front desk, but never received any response. Overall, I was very disappointed with how this was handled. On top of that, the rooms, amenities, and elevators are all noticeably outdated. I wouldn’t recommend staying here until both the property and customer service are improved.

Great time over all. We got really lucky with the weather. Hotel was perfect for all of our needs. Room was comfy and accommodating. Staff was very friendly, valet had us feeling like VIP’s. Will highly recommend to friends and family.

We arrived about 3:20pm and knew we wouldn’t be able to do early check in but were very unhappy as our room ended up not being ready and we were unable to get into a room until after 5:00pm. In the end, it all worked out but I wish front desk would have been upfront about what was going on. Instead, my wife and I had to keep checking in with front desk if room was ready. Received attitude from front desk after a while and it was very frustrating. We asked for manager and eventually received a room upgrade, free drinks but not after showing how upset we were. Wish they could have taken care of us in the beginning and not wait until an hour later past check in with upset customers. Not sure we’ll be back

The property was in an amazing location and was walkable to the beach. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Parking and unloading luggage was easy as well. Plenty of dining options in the vicinity. The beds were very comfortable and the ocean view was wonderful. Would definitely stay here again.

The reception, valet, and housekeeping staff are fantastic! They were approachable, friendly, and did little things for my family that showed great customer service and hard to find friendliness in this quick and fast society we live in. You’ll always remember how people made you feel, and the staff really made the difference here. The valets were great! They’d ask how are day was going, made recommendations, and were just really, really friendly. They even shared some fresh pastries with us. The valets here take the hotel to another level… just great people that helped us throughout our entire stay.

Great location. Right on the beach and close to pier. Walking distance to downtown. Good restaurants close by. Room was clean. Small, but adequate, bathroom with full-size shower. Air conditioner works great. Parking was fine for us but could be a problem on summer weekends since the public has access. Elevators are relatively fast. Dog-friendly.

Wonderful location. Step out of the hotel and you are on your beach walk. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean and Surfer's Point. We left the patio door open all night and slept happily in the sea breeze. One caution, the hotel is close to the 101 freeway and the railroad tracks. It didn't bother us, but some people may be more sensitive.

I loved the hotel. Right next to the beach and view of the beach. Great amenities and pool. Also next to the 101 so that was the noise we heard at night. Not the hotel’s fault at all but we wanted one last night near the beach and listening to the ocean so I would have reconsidered that.

the hotel service was not good for Crowne Plaza (it is not a Days Inn or Super 8). we used the self parking which is a public parking garage. Since the garage payment system is not working, so the garage was charging the minimum $2/day for the parking. Since it is cheaper, we paid directly without using our room keys to pay for the parking. However, the hotel still charges us $10/day. The restaurant in the hotel is poor qulity and over priced.

This hotel with its proximity to the water and its beautiful views is my favorite place to stay. The rooms are great. The restaurant has good food. Daniel, the bartender is awesome! Makes a wonderful Dirty Martini and provides great service overall. You have so much to do within walking distance.

This is our go to hotel when we travel south. The location is amazing. Right out your window you see the number one surf spot in the area and the wharf. You can walk to downtown and there is a great selection of restaurants/bars and shops. Inside the hotel is a great bar with an amazing view, fire pits, and a pool! We haven't had dinner there, but we always have an excellent breakfast~
