1) Only 1/2 the light fixtures worked - 2) had to buy new batteries for tv remote- 3) shower over flowed and would not drain- we stayed at this hotel about 2 years ago and they said they were "Replumbing" the property as it had the same problem then ...LOL 2 years later the second floor is still have the backed up shower so you stand in the sewer water from the last person! 4) The "breakfast buffet" eggs sausage were cold - not even warm to the touch. 5) they claim to have a pool & Jacuzzi but you have to drive a different hotel down the street - 1/4 mile away!!! 6) they don't change sheets or bring fresh DRY towels each day- that's ok - BUT when we asked the maid for dry towels you would have thought we were asking for her pay-check! All in All the worst Hotel experience I have had in many years!

Great location with awesome harbor views from the west side of the building. We stayed on the third floor and it was very quiet (after we turned off the room wall HVAC unit). It goes on and off constantly but once we got under the covers we didn't need it. My only little gripes are 1) Parking is $12 extra and everybody has a car. I don't mind paying extra for parking in a big city where it is at a premium, but at a hotel like this with a big lot it's just an extra BS charge. 2) I don't like having $100 added to by credit card "for incidentals" even if its refunded later. There are no incidentals (no mini-bar, etc) to the money is just in case you steal something. I don't steal things so I'm not a fan of this refundable charge. I'll watch to make sure it's credited back to my card in a timely manner. But other than those two things, it was very nice indeed!

The property is nice, and it is right on the harbor. Less than a mile walk to the shops, restaurants, and a beautiful beach. The hotel doesn’t offer much, but there is a fitness center and the hotel next door shares their pool/spa.

This property was nice, quiet, and clean. The reason why we gave it a 3 star was due to misinformation, when we arrived we were told that the pool was at the other hotel next to us which was a walk but they did not tell us we needed an extra key from that property to enter the pool. Also check in was at 4:00 pm instead of 3:00 pm and they charge a nightly parking fee. Other than that everything was great!

I stay here every summer and this year I see a noticeable difference from last. The daily breakfast which is a big part of why we stay had numerous elements that were either not working (pancake machine) or not offered. Also I had booked a room with a view that I thought had a patio since all the rooms I had seen on either the view or no view side did have one. Room did not have a patio and I was told that was because I booked a room bay windows instead. Ok, that is my mistake but the problem was the room they gave me did not have bay windows. So no patio and no big windows for the water view. I switched to a room with no view to be able to have a patio. Rooms are large and comfy, but the carpet was stained in several places. For $300 a night I expect more.

The hotel was updated and very clean, and the beds were wonderful. We had a view of Ventura Harbor which was beautiful and it was a very quiet setting .The restaurants were very close, about a 10 minute walk along a sidewalk along the harbor directly from the hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The included breakfast was excellent. We would absolutely stay here again!

The hotel was dirty. The sheets were dirty, the restroom was dirty also. They didn’t mop. There was hair from the previous person who stayed there. The room smelled aweful like a weird smell like old furniture I don’t know how to explain it and the carpet was dirty. 3 big stains. You guys need to keep up on being more clean. The remote got the tv was low. It wasn’t working. Also you guys only had two big towels. You guys need to put extras.

Very clean. Microwave and refrigerator were great to have with a family. The included breakfast was convenient and had plenty of choices for our three young, and picky, boys. The only negative worth noting for a family is there was only a shower stall, no bathtub. A little harder setting sandy kids clean in a shower rather than soaking in a tub. Overall, a great experience.

The room we were given was dirty not properly cleaned at all. My partner got bit by something which later we were told by staff that it could have been fleas. The sliding door looked as if it had been broken into which causes us to worry for our safety. After bringing this to staffs attention they were able to move our room to a much nicer side of the hotel. The side they originally placed us seemed and looked like a drug motel.

The rooms overlooking the marina were larger than the rooms inside. (We stayed 2 different stays so experienced both). The marina room had a large balcony that, in better weather, would have been awesome to enjoy. The beds were very high so if you have mobility issues they may pose a problem. We liked them though. The separate shower/toilet room was a bonus! The coffee bar area, great idea! The inside room felt like a let down versus the marina room. Beds, while comfy, were just plain after the "elevated" experience in the previous room. Having a typical bathroom setup was also a let down. (I paid equal prices for both rooms so the diminished experience did make me feel let down.) The breakfast area facing the marina was nice. Typical hotel continental breakfast items but remained stocked which is not the case at other hotels. In better weather, enjoying breakfast on the patio, watching boats move, sea life entertainment, and the fresh air would probably have been a highlight for us. The only mishap of our stays was a new hostess who was unfamiliar with the booking/payment system. She was very nice and I am sure will be a good addition to their crew later.

Everything was just a little off. There was a very long wait to check in after a 7 hour drive with only one front desk person who was not moving quickly. The room did not match the photos which showed a separation between the king bed and the pull out couch. The pull out couch did not have enough linens nor did the bathroom (if you book a room for four people it would be reasonable to expect four towels). It took a long time to get these things. The door to the room rattled all night anytime a guest in the same hall opened their door necessitating a piece of luggage propped against the door. To top it all off when I went to the breakfast the coffee was all gone. None of this was terrible in and of itself, but do not expect attention to detail here.

Helpful staff, questions answered, accessible room not available. I they upgraded and put me a few doors down as close to the exit as possible noting they would notify me of emergency as I am deaf hard of hearing and other rooms don’t have notification systems. Everyone is always so helpful at HIE! Thank you for making my stay great!

Was extremely unhappy with your checkin process and the manager once requested to address our situation was hostile towards me and our request to have access to our room. Our booking itinerary stated that checkin was 3:00 I tried to show the counter associate we booked a room that would be available at 3:00 and was told that checkin was now 4:00 because the property was short staffed. Your operational issues are not my concern. If the property offers checkin at 3:00 it should be 3:00 that is the contract/agreement I accepted. After driving most of the day from Arizona we arrived about 30 minutes before checkin so we could get changed for our engagement. We were turned away and told the room should be ready by 4:00. Of course our event started at 4:00. So we had to breakdown our suitcases on the road and change to our formal ware basically in a public bathroom to be ready on time. Of course our event ended and we finally checked in after midnight and our perishables were destroyed by the heat of the day while our food items became un edible because we couldn’t use the refrigerator in the room before our event. This event will causes me to rethink my next stay in Ventura

Receptionist was overwhelemed and seemed disturbed that we, yet another customer, was complicating her night further. They didnt have key cards for us so she had to escort us to the room. This led to us having to stay inside. On New Years Eve. For fear that we wouldnt be able to get back in the room. Thermostat in the room did nor work, nor did the controls on the unit itself, making for a very warm night as the heater was stuck on. The refrigerator made a clicking noise that resembled someone trying to get into the room, so that became distracting.

Fabulous hotel right on the harbor. We walked to amazing restaurants and the Channel Island National Park visitor center! Plus met surfers coming right off the beach. Comfortable bed and the best shower we have had in a hotel! You’ll love this hotel!

While checking in at the posted check in time, I was told that I was an hour earlier than check in time. I said the information on the reservation said 3pm and she said they changed it to 4 because they couldn’t get all the rooms ready by 3. Then she started to charge me for parking, even though my receipt said the posted amount included everything. No extra charges. The ice machines didn’t work on the first and second floors. The body wash in the shower was just about empty and hard to get anything out. On the positive side, the beds were comfortable, the shower was good, and the breakfast was above average.

Clean property and room and friendly staff! Morning people were friendlier than the night staff for sure, but the night staff wasn’t rude by any means, just not as helpful and kind of short with my questions. The harbor view was beautiful! Our only complaint was that the breakfast staff was rude and even though breakfast was done at 10, the potato’s and meat were gone at 9:30 and they were upset when we asked if there would be more and then brought some potatoes out cold. Other than that, everything was as expected.

Not so good:skimpy on towels only 2 each. Breakfast a little boring with no variation from day to day. Carpet needed a good cleaning. Good: Very comfortable bed, shower and the large room. Room was clean except for carpet. Staff friendly and competent. Quiet room for the most part.

We really enjoyed our stay! love the fact that it was a full breakfast! Great selections of eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bagels and more! We'll be back! We also love that we could just walk right over to the harbor to see the beautiful boats. Everyone in the area was so nice and what can I say about the staff? Everybody was amazing so helpful. We also love the gift bag that we received when we checked in. Nice touch! Thank you so much for your warm hospitality. You really made us feel comfortable.
