Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Montrose - Black Canyon Area

Chose places specifically with a pool, but when we got there (5 pm) the pool was dirty and locked up. Asked to have the pool unlocked and a guy came out to start cleaning it stating that there was a dust storm the night before. He never cleaned it, just began refilling it with cold water.There was no ice bucket, only two pillows and only two towels for the shower (we needed 4).Room was clean and the staff gave an awesome recommendation for a BBQ place down the street. I’d stay there again if I knew the pool was in swimming condition. Left property before breakfast was set up (7:15ish).

Ice machine broken. Outside garbage cans full when I arrived and still full when I left the next day. Electrical wall plugs loose. Room was clean the only good thing. I wouldn’t stay there again.

The pool was nice, and it was very nice for its price.

The worst experience with the hotel and expedia that I have ever had. I tried to chat with expedia online and your chat room is aweful. Kept getting cut off when agent "Van" was trying to connect me with another "agent". I finally gave up. I will appeal third night charges with my credit card company as we did not stay the last night due to conditions of the room. Tv never worked, wifi never worked, breakfast was a granola bar and coffee. Plugs would not stay in outlet causing my oxygen to stop running in night because plug would fall out of outlet. We tried duck taping plugs to outlet but didnt work. Very dangerous for my oxygen to stop running. Swimming pool is "out of order" and according to locals, it has been for a long long time. Years . False advertising. Rust and mold in bathroom where vent and door jam is. Front desk person was a joke. Very unfriendly and didnt care about room issues. I asked to be moved and they said that they couldnt move me. I asked to check out early and he said I had to contact Expedia to do that. I eent into chat with Expedia and couldnt get connected to a agent that would cancel third night stay. I will appeal that night charges with credit card company. This place needs to be torn down and new hotel built.... With better staffing.

It's a good value and clean, but it not as good as it was 2 years ago. The pool has no water in it. The rooms need paint. Needs more general maintenance.

Ok, for the pricing. Easy access. Not great breakfast options. Need to finish repairs, keep trash outside picked up.

I have stayed here before and the condition has deteriorated. My room was missing a coffee maker, bag for ice bucket, cups, Kleenex, and a rod to hang clothes. The A/C unit was near the ceiling so you couldn’t adjust the temperature. The bathroom had some wood that needed repair. The pool wasn’t open for the season because it needed to be painted. The breakfast needed to be restocked and staff had to be asked to restock. The bed was decent, I like a firmer mattress but that is a personal preference. It was a two bed room but there were only two thin bath towels, one hand towel and no washcloths.

Multiple bugs in the room. Sheets were dirty and stained. One set of towels and wash rags even though there multiple people listed to stay in the room. Pool was empty and unusable even though it was listed as being available.

No laundry as stated on line. Had to walk to laundromat.

Front desk was friendly. Pool was filthy. Room was in need of repair. Bathroom door wouldn't shut properly. Shower was dirty. These rooms are worth maybe $30/night, not what they're trying to charge.

Very dirty overall, stained or unclean sheets and towels and the floor made our feet black Beds at least were comfortable enough but I was very uncomfortable with the cleanliness

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It had stained sheets, the floor was filthy, and there was a big spider in the tub. I put a towel down on the floor and the bottom of it was black from the floor. We did not stay the second night and they would not refund our money. Do not stay there!!

Room was disguising. Dirty, spiders. No carpet. One roll of toilet paper. No tissue. Nothing on the walls. No trash can and the door didn’t lock. Refused to stay. They wouldn’t refund. Terrible service. Unsecured parking. No lighting. Disgusting

sheets were not clean went through 5 sets of sheets before we found a set that was ok fire alarm hanging Outside are door smelled like urine have pictures to send you if you want spent one night out of 4 and had to leave and get a different hotel for the rest of are stay we stayed at this motel 7 years earlier and had a great time not this time

The staff were very nice, but that can’t make up for the actual motel. There were bugs on the beds and walls. The tub didn’t drain. The door didn’t deadbolt. Beds were uncomfortable and springy.

The smell of stale cigarette smoke was overpowering. Sheets and blankets seemed clean but were stained. The pictures on Expedia certainly felt misleading. But, at the end of the day, there was hot water in the showers, we didn't spend a ton of money, and we were only there long enough to sleep. Could've been worse, but not much.

The room was dirty and towels left from previous guest were still in the room! My daughter and her family had to go to a different hotel! Their room had mouse poo on the pillow and nest from mattress bedding on the floor next to bed! Spider and web in room! We will never stay there again!

Filthy inside and out!

DO NOT STAY. Drug activity in the room next to us all night, smokers outside the entire night partying. Black mold in the bathroom, tub does not drain, room was not cleaned as there was hair, dust, toilet paper on floor, etc. Bed had one old stained sheet and one ratty blanket FILLED with cigarette burns. Blood splatters on the walls. I could go on, but just do not stay, the pictures are not accurate.

It looks like rooms don’t get cleaned or gets superficial cleaning. I paid $170 per night and it was not worth it.

Heating was very loud. TV did not work.

Quiet hotel, spacious room.

Not bad for a bed and a shower when you are just passing thru on the motorcycle

I would not stay here again. First, the card entry system is screwed up and I had to have the night manager let me in my room both nights. Second, the shutoff valve to the toilet was turned off, so no water until I figured out to turn on the water valve. Third, they take a photo copy of your driver's license. When I asked for the copy back at checkout, the manager couldn't find it. Made me nervous for identity theft. The manager said they take a copy in case they have to call the police. What the...? Fourth, this is an older motel and the walls are very thin. You can hear the street noise from Highway 50. Fifth, the breakfast was not much more than a cup of coffee. Sixth, the AC was so loud that I turned it off to be able to sleep. My best recommendation is to tear the whole place down and start over.

It’s very very dated. The tvs didn’t work and the mattress insides were, literally falling out.

It was a good location. Comfy room. Spacious. No frills. Clean. Shower rod was barely hangin on.

This was okay for a one night stay. But there were problems with a noisy AC, not enough lighting in dressing area and TV/remote problems.

Nice place, better than I expected after driving up to the property. It looks a little run down and could use some renovation work. The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, WiFi was good, and the staff were friendly. I’d stay again but would be a nice place if it were updated it has potential

The water in the shower was scalding. I couldn't make it cool enough to use.

No shampoo. No coffee maker in room. Bring your own water bottles as there's no cup in the room if you need to take meds. Bed is way too mushy-soft (needs replaced) Pillows are lumpy (cheap chopped foam). Thin blanket. Just the bare bones for the money.

I had a wonderful stay at Black Canyon Motel. All the staff, AM and PM, were very helpful and polite.

It’s not a special experience by any measure. Staff seems uncaring and inept. I asked to be changed to a different room. They refused.

This property is not even worth staying at for $50 let alone over $100! Check in staff was terrible. TV did not work in room. Waited in the office for approximately 10 minutes for someone to come so we could get help with TV. Rooms need fixed up. Fell coming into room due to drop off into room. Morning office staff stood right by the front door smoking a cigarette.

Busy time. Property had room. Great location. Amazing staff!!

This is the best value lodging that we found in the Montrose area. The breakfast was good enough and the room was very clean. We were impressed and amazed of the working staff at the front desk who dedicated themselves to ensure the customers' satisfactions.

It was located at the edge of town so very little street traffic . The room was clean and the beds were comfortable . Very close to two really nice golf courses . Two other courses just 20 miles away .

This property is close to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, so very convenient. It was affordable and clean. A little confusion at check in, but it was handled appropriately.

Basic older motel good if you just want a place to stay for the night. Staff were helpful. Rooms clean but grounds a bit less so. Breakfast is severely limited. WiFi was strong. If you just need a bed, shower, TV, internet at a budget motel, this place is great!

Nice hotel right on Highway 50. It's older, but adequate. Decent sized rooms. All the amenities of a basic hotel. Shower was nice. Pool was a bit questionable. Breakfast was sparse. Walking distance to several restaurants, ice cream shop, bowling alley. Good for an overnight stay.

It was comfortable, conveniently located, easy parking for my shuttle bus and trailer, and quiet. Staff was very relaxed as well.

Had to ask for a roll of toilet paper on first day; no cereal or milk, slimy hard-boiled eggs, & only pop tarts & granola bars first morning (Saturday). Second morning there was half a container of cereal but no spoons & milk was going sour (Sunday). Third morning (Monday) there was cereal, milk, bowls & spoons and what looked like the same slimy eggs. Couldn't find an ice machine. We stayed at 4 different motels in 4 different states for this week-long trip. This was the most expensive and next to the worst motel we stayed in.

Motel room was clean but shabby with old worn stained sheets. Room phone not connected and smoke detector was missing. Was told at check in that there was no water they were fixing it, and not to flush the toilet. They would inform us when it was fixed. About 3 hours later we went to front desk to ask and was then informed it was fixed. Also told at check-in that the continental breakfast was served 7am-9:30am. We got there at 8 and they had run out of food.
