Yellowing stains on the ceiling as you walk into the room, no drain plug in the bathroom sink, bath towels were sized so small looks like they were all made for children and very rough, rooms were all pretty dark (not enough lighting) and the TV was tiny. Pool area also could use some work, chairs were all broken and the lights didn’t work, only source of light at night was a mediocre spot light that makes it look like a construction site. This property has potential but the owner spent it all on the lobby and “cosmetics” of the property and not the guest experience. I’ve worked in hotels before and for almost $300 a night, you expect a little more than just “okay”, especially when staying in a place like Mystic.

Location was the only great thing about this hotel. Bathroom light didn't work, main light switch was connected to TV power so turn the light off, turns TV off, light fixture broken and hanging from the wall, air conditioner sounded like a freight train, dried out apple core sitting on the air conditioner unit, Bathroom jacuzzi tub didn't drain quickly enough while showering so water collected and standing in water while showering, ran out of creamer at coffee station, had to request pool door to be unlocked well after the time it was supposed to be open.

Our keys wouldn’t work on the entry doors , but worked for the room The room was musty asked for a air fresher and never got one so went out and bought one that’s all Dropping the key off seemed to be a nuisance to the man behind the desk , very non personable went I left

Doors to building or hallway were not secured allowing access to anyone walking by. (Signs posted that they would be locked between 11pm-6am) but still allows access to anyone before then. Moldy shower, wires coming out of walls, warped baseboards from shower leaking, you can feel the springs on the mattress. All around just dirty.

This place was a great price for a one night stay in Mystic. I know it’s not a 5 star hotel, but was pretty mortified with what we found. There was literally dry blood on one of our pillows and it wasn’t from us! The sink was clogged and where finding a big bug isn’t on the hotel itself, it just may the stay that much worse. The room from an overview was ok, but again to find someone else’s blood is disgusting!!! I did call the front and they came up, took the pillow and apologized. We did ask to speak to a manager and that never happened. Luckily there were 2 beds, so we definitely checked the other before utilizing it. The tv wasn’t working on and off either. Definitely not the best experience and to not have management check in on us, is not ok.

The property is filthy. The manager refused to meet with me to discuss any of the issues. The dumpsters aren't properly kept. They're not closed and theyre not fenced in. Bathrooms are dirty. The couch in room 140 is stained. Carpets are stained in multiple rooms. I could hear the mice in the walls.

Mold and Mildew. Filthy room. The place stunk and my daughter and I woke up with sinus issues. I went and purchased bleach at 10:30 pm, and over 10 miles away, to pour on the black mold in the bathtub and when that did not help I pulled the filters out of the AC unit and they were caked in dirt and dust. I booked for 2 nights, stayed for the 1 night and they are refusing to refund me.

This Howard Johnson is horrible dirty & smelly check in staff was friendly & nice as soon as we got to the entrance door they directed us to i gag & wanted to puke hotels.com should remove the property from its site & I also inform Wyndham that the property is tarnishing to their name

Good location for accessing downtown Mystic. The check in process was easy. The rooms were quiet and I had a good nights sleep. That being said, everything is pretty dirty. Not just dated. The carpet is dirty throughout place. The entrance is unkempt. The bathroom floor was sticky. The tub was dirty.

I stayed here with my family for the weekend. It was reasonably priced. It was very close to everything. The staff was very nice. There was adequate parking. There was a nearby diner on the property. The room we were given needed repairs. The lock on the door was broken. The lock on the bathroom door was broken. The tub looked like it was unsealed on the outside. The bathroom light kept going out after 10 seconds. The rugs in the hallways were stained. Anyone can come into the motel. It was not locked.

The property is very updated on the outside and in the lobby. The room itself was nice - that bathrooms showed caulking and age but was clean. The value was good and the front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Location was convenient on/off highway and to aquarium. BUT - the sliding glass doors from the room to the outside were not really very secure - I was on the first floor. The side entrance doors from the outside into the hotel had key slots but they were not working so the doors were open to anyone. When I pulled down the bedspread the blanket had two burn holes in it. So overall mixed feelings. It says HJ by Wyndham so I expected more.

You can tell this property has not been updated in more than 20 years. The bed was comfortable but the surroundings itself is ancient and tired and hasn’t been cared for properly in a long time. The only thing it has going for it is the fact that it’s close to the highway and close to the Mystic aquarium. We will not stay there again.

Overall, totally fine for 1 night. Staff were pleasant at check-in and check-out. The room/hotel were not the cleanliest, especially since they only wash the linens every 4 days to conserve water. Our room faced the parking lot and an abandoned building next door, and people decided to have a party in the parking lot the morning we were leaving. Again, totally fine for 1 night, close to Foxwoods and a surprisingly very comfy bed!

Rooms are very dark which conceals a lot.. When the drapes were opened in the morning you could see how bad the floors were.. Bed seemed clean enough though

The beds and pillows are comfortable. There is ample parking. The people working at the hotel are super friendly. Shahid went above and beyond to correct a few issues I had with the room like a drain stopper and iron. This hotel is in the same parking lot as the Mystic Diner that has a great atmosphere and great food. Across the street is the Old Mystic Village shops which you can walk over to. I was planning to visit other parts of CT, but added an extra day because it was such a nice area.

Price is cheap - but still not worth the discomfort, the gross conditions and the horrible service. Had to make adjustments to my booking and tried calling for two days straight before I arrived. Was convinced I had the wrong number. When I arrived to check in, I decided to call the number as I was walking in. Lo and behold, the phone is ringing RIGHT beside the front desk person as they're just sitting their playing on their phone. No apology as I asked why they didn't answer the phone. Just a rush to check me in. That was probably the best part of my stay because after that, it was even more disappointing. Dirty room that smelled faintly of cigarettes. Questionable cleaning. Moldy bathroom. Big regret staying here and the only positive is that I'll never book at this hotel or other Howard Johnsons.

Rooms very clean. Beds very comfortable. Hallways and stairwell could use a good cleaning. Our room was facing the garbage bin and there was a flock of seagulls feasting - noisy! The lobby was very clean and attractive, the desk attendant was very pleasant and helpful.

The bed was very comfortable and it was fine for our one night stay. The location is very convenient to Old Mystik Village and a few restaurants. The property is a bit dated, but served our purpose just fine. The gym was very small with only one treadmill, one bike, and one elliptical, and it was uncomfortably hot.

My family enjoyed our trip! Staff was friendly and the diner next door was excellent. This was a perfect location for our visit to the Aquarium and Mystic Village. From the outside it can look a little rough around the edges but our room was clean and comfortable.

This hotel was adequate for the two nights we stayed. We loved the location because it was near the Olde Mistick Village and the interstate for easy access to both. Downtown Mystic was only a 3-minute car ride away. There were positives and negatives to the room that future guests should note. Positives included spacious, good AC, comfortable beds, nice balcony access, very quiet and couldn’t hear neighbors. The negatives are the tired looking bathroom that didn’t seem clean, not enough coffee inserts provided, no breakfast even though it has been advertised (you get 10% off at the diner next door), freezer in fridge needed defrosted, and there was no elevator. The price is about right for what you get.

It was a quiet place for a night and you could not hear much of what was going on in the rooms which is nice compared to other hotels where you can hear everything going on. We wanted a place with a pool. The pool closed at 8pm. It was advertised as being open until 11pm. Also advertised was breakfast being included. There was no breakfast available, we were told we could show the room key at the diner next door for a percentage off. It was overpriced and not worth it for us to eat there. The rooms were decent, the could have been a deeper clean done, towels looked dingy. We had 2 rooms, one refrigerator did not work at all and one of the TV's did not allow us to change the channel. It was cold out so we were able to use the balcony to store beverages for the night. Overall, I might stay again but bring some cleaning supplies to clean high contact areas. I would also bring breakfast food with me, as paying for overpriced food when on a budget just is not worth it.
