Ella's Cottages - Key West Historic Inns

We chose this historic inn based on central location to everything we wanted in less than 15 min. Front desk staff (Dwight and others) are fantastic and always willing to listen and provide assistance. Fort Zachary Taylor Beach Park is walkable - 25 min (beach water shoes recommended due to rocks). We didn't need to rent any transportation as it was easier for us to walk it out, so I can't comment on parking since I didn't use it (it is limited at most places). We felt very safe walking around, even at night. We used a taxi to and from Key West airport (both drivers familiar with this inn). Room is clean. Both night stands have power and USB charging outlets. Excellent daily room service and Sunshine Breakfast basket hand delivered to your room. Duval Loop bus stop 14 (free) in front of inn (bus route loop is an hour long and two buses running to ensure next bus in 30 min), so this is another convenient option if walking isn't your thing.

Staff was super friendly.. pool is small but very clean and grounds are well maintained. Rooms were small (we had a city view king) and no closet (in room handing rack and under bed storage drawers). Continental breakfast and afternoon tea/snacks by the pool were good. Great walking location in key west . Super close to Duval. We walked everywhere.

My husband & I really liked this property. The staff was friendly & very accommodating. The location was perfect for us as we enjoy walking. We were delivered breakfast baskets to our room in the morning with lots of goodies. We were also offered iced tea & cookie treats the night before. Such a pleasant place to stay. I do wish we picked a bigger room. It was very small. I thought we wouldn’t mind the smaller room. Something to think about when booking your room. The room was clean & we had plenty of towels. There was a good size shower, with soaps provided. The property itself is well taken care of. The pool was very clean with a nice relaxing atmosphere.

Ella's is a lovely, centrally-located property. It's far enough from Duval to be quiet and tranquil but still easy to walk to restaurants, bars, shopping, and the docks. The picnic breakfast each day was absolutely wonderful, and the pool and kitchen areas were great for me to have space to work and relax while there. Dewight and Michael took excellent care of me, and I will absolutely book here again and recommend to others.

Staying at Ella‘s was such a wonderful pleasure! Being only one block away from all of the action, yet it felt like your own tropical paradise. Dwight was awesome and his recommendations for dining and activities helped make my stay one of the best! What really made this great for me was how clean everything was and how safe the environment felt. Having a private pool with a beautiful sitting area was just icing on top.

Check in was easy, they even give you a complimentary drink specifically made for the hotel. It was pretty good, I think it was a shandy but I don't remember the name. The salt water pool was great to relax in during the hot summer days of the Keys.

The rooms were very cozy and clean. The property is very well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Morning Breakfast service was very enjoyable. The pool is small and to warm for my taste but clean and well kept. We will definitely stay again.

This was a very quiet place to stay. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and the breakfast basket was a delight! Everything was within walking distance. (5-20 minutes). Staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was small but just enough to dip in when hot too hot!! Would stay here again.

I wanted to steal their pillows but I didn’t, so don’t worry. Every morning they bring you a breakfast basket to your room at your desired time. It has bagels, cheese and other lovely breakfast items in there. It’s such a cute and great way to wake up. Last but not least, Dwight in the reception is the highlight at Ella’s cottage and it wouldn’t be the same without him, may they protect him at all cost. Overall, we loved the property and its surroundings. The breakfast was delicious, and the food was of excellent quality. However, the room was not adequately cleaned. The bathroom was not clean, and the floor was also dirty. That is something to take into account to improve the guest's experience.

All of the staff are amazing! Nice rooms. Not fancy but comfortable. Very nice breakfast basket! The floors need mopped for bugs and hair, especially bathroom. Very convenient location.

In the case of this property historic means tired. At least in the cottage we stayed. The floor had cheap vinyl flooring with noticeable broken boards. The patio I paid extra for was covered in leaves and not a pleasant place to sit and have breakfast. The upside is this place is about a 15-minute walk from everywhere we wanted to go.

The charming cottage room with covered porch was lovely and the room was very clean. The staff, specifically Nura was so welcoming and gave us personal attention with any of our needs. The breakfast basket delivered daily at your requested time between 8&10 was perfect! Offerings included overnight oats, yogurt with berries, bagels, croissants, hard boiled eggs and a variety of teas, coffee and oj. We’ve never received anything like this while traveling and it was a welcome start to our day. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and enjoyed relaxing under the covered chaises.

Stayed 4 nights in 2-bedroom suite (#22) with my daughter on a scuba trip. Love the location and cottage theme, but combination of several issues makes it hard to recommend. Pros: Excellent location. Quaint. Clean housekeeping. Close enough to attractions, yet far enough to avoid the noise at night. Cons: Invasion of tiny ants on day one that shook confidence for the whole trip (i.e. are there bugs in everything?). Front door barely latched (missing hardware) leaving big gap for insects/critters and not secure at all (easily break with a firm push). No parking available on last night - advised to park in attended/questionable lot with "YOU WILL BE TOWED" signs wondering if my car will be there next morning for early flight.

Overall, our three-night stay at Ella’s Cottages was a disappointing one. Great location and concept, but let down badly by failing infrastructure. After a long journey, we arrived on Friday evening to discover that the cottage we were allocated was not the same as the one photographed on the booking site - this had already been allocated. Then, we discovered that the cottage had a termite infestation. We called the night porter who responded immediately and moved us to another cottage, although this one did not have hot water in the shower, which the hotel staff hoped would be fixed on Saturday (it wasn’t, due to parts not being available). In the interim, we were given access to another cottage with a working shower. We were given the opportunity to move cottage again on Saturday, but given we had already moved once and were only staying for 3 nights, we decided to stay put and live with the cold shower. Unfortunately, the air conditioning then stopped working, with us having to call for maintenance on Saturday afternoon and, again, during the night. Even when working, it was intermittent and made a screeching sound. The cottage was so hot at points that it was noticeably cooler outdoors, no mean feat for KW in May! There is much to like about Ella’s Cottages - the location, traditional KW layout, the outdoor areas, breakfast and staff. Dwight on the front desk sought to resolve our issues, but was let down by the infrastructure and offered us a part refund.

We have stayed at this property several other times when it was Kimpton. There were noticeable declines in the overall condition. The room smelled extremely heavily of carpet deodorizer upon entry to room 12. Condition and cleanliness were average. I must say that the gentleman at the desk was very polite and helpful. No complaints there. Overnight we had a very sizeable cockroach in the bathroom and another in the morning. We talked with the front desk. Long and short of it they comp’ed our parking/resort fee. But needless to say we won’t be returning to our once favored hotel. Period. Very disappointing stay.

For the amount of money, I paid and off-season for four nights, I expected the room to be bigger with some sort of an area to lounge in. The room was a little beat up and could use some updating for $1800 for four nights. I spoke to other friends that stayed at other resorts in the area and paid about half of what I paid for larger rooms, better breakfast, and better amenities.

Pool area is beautiful. Especially love the swing chair. Breakfast basket is delightful. Room is small but clean. However didn’t like the air conditioner- it was too loud for me to sleep.

Comfortable stay. The really great thing was the location. Right off of Duval, and almost in the middle point of the island. Very peaceful and quiet. I will say that it was very hot at night. There is an AC but it only cooled the front room and not the sleeping area.

I would like to start by saying that staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. I liked the vibe of the property overall. The room was much smaller and less equipped than I expected for the price. The road traffic was incredibly loud to the point that I almost switched to a different location after the first night. The room did not have a traditional dresser and overall it was fairly cramped. I did not see the other rooms on property, but I would not recommend the city room to anyone.

This was our second stay at Ella’s and this stay was very different from our first stay. The room we had this time (#2) was terrible and the delivered “breakfast” was a joke and very wasteful. There was no stand, table or chair in our room to set our luggage so it went on the floor. The bathroom had ZERO counter space and the bathroom floor had a soft spot right in front of the toilet.

This was a great place to stay as it was close to Duval Street but not too close from a noise perspective. The property was well maintained and the rooms large. A great bathroom with both a bath and separate shower. The breakfast was a hamper supplied to your room and offered a variety of food. The only negative I can say about Ella’s would be the price as it was very expensive!!

This was a family vacation so we reserved multiple rooms. I paid the premium prices for all of the rooms; however, only 1 of the 3 lived up to expectations. My suggestion to those reserving more than one room is to request the larger rooms if possible. Two of the three rooms were very small, particularly for the premium price. I actually felt bad for the other couples staying in the other (smaller) rooms because we had more space to move around, as well as a larger bathroom. The pros: - the location is excellent; you can get anywhere on the island relatively easily - the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating - the free on-site parking was very welcome - the wifi was good enough to watch streaming video The cons: - the lackluster breakfast was really disappointing, again, especially for the premium price tag. It’s very basic. For example, there were days were fruit was not provided or knifes were not available (so I would desribe that as inconsist) - There was no desk in the room - There was no comfortable seating inside the room - My fault for not reading the fine print but the "resort fee" was unexpected. And, if I\'m paying a resort fee then I want the service (i.e., towels were rarely available around the pool without asking, cups for water were sparse, room cleaning times were inconsistent) - I did not receive the welcome drink, whereas the customer before me was offered a drink - The fan outside room #16 (on porch) was defective

As I said the do not offer room service, but they brought a very nice continental breakfast every morning. All staff were fantastic! Special shoutout to Michael and Dwight. Fun, friendly and funny! Will definitely return!

Supposedly coffee was delivered to the room each morning for three days. A double room with three people staying there. Each morning, the thermos contained roughly 1 cup of coffee, not even close to full. The Keurig machine in the communal kitchen was also unstocked with coffee, and had no water in it. I had to search for a faucet wher I could fill the Keurig reservoir myself. The desk clerk on duty for two of the three days was less than helpful (first day guy was good). All in all, very mediocre service for a $700 per night room. I would not go back.

Great hotel.Great location.Dwight was super friendly and made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived.We will definitely be returning for a more extended stay next time.

Housekeeping did not clean room

We checked in 07/10/2024 we arrived very late around midnight. The checked in was really smooth and the lady checked us in was really nice. The next day early morning we grabbed a breakfast at the hotel since they have breakfast included in our stay. That's around 8:00am, we were gone for 45 mins, when we come back from the room, the bed was made, the housekeeping was already cleaned our room. Before I left for breakfast, I took $400 from the bank envelope that I put in my LV purse, inside my LV big purse I have my small YSL purse. When we come back from our room, I notice my YSL purse was outside from my LV bag and the envelope money was gone. I have total of $3600 was stolen from us. We did not expected that the housekeeping will be there 8:15am morning. We called the police and reported. We are hoping that whoever took our money eventually return it. Be careful when you stay here make sure all your important belongings is safe and secure.

Our recent two night stay overall experience was disappointing …Room and bathroom was smaller than expected. A/c in room was not cool enough. First day stay morning received breakfast for one person instead of two. Not enough towels even when requested. Very walkable location was a big plus and quiet property. But, Don’t think I will go back.

Ella’s Cottages in Key West was the perfect place to celebrate my 50th birthday! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and at home. Dwight and Mike, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was unforgettable—they even provided us with a complimentary upgrade to our room once they learned it was a milestone celebration! Dwight’s warm smile truly brightened our day every time we saw him, adding such a positive and personal touch to our experience. The accommodations were simply lovely, beautifully decorated, cozy, and comfortable, providing a true island feel that was both relaxing and charming. Each morning, we looked forward to the wonderful continental breakfast delivered right to our door in an adorable basket. The selection was delicious, with a variety of baked goods, egg bites, yogurt, and fresh fruit—perfect for starting the day. The atmosphere around the pool was laid-back and chill, making it an ideal spot for our group of friends to gather, unwind, and soak up the beautiful weather. Merlin’s Tea at 3pm each day was a nice treat, as well! I couldn’t imagine a better place to spend this special occasion. Ella’s Cottages truly made our trip to Key West memorable!

My party of 10 recently stayed at Ella's cottages in Key West FL celebrating my son's 40th birthday. A shout out to the concierge, Jenny, who was amazing. She worked tirelessly to arrange transportation, snorkeling charter, sunset sail, mojito making class and dinner reservations at her recommended restaurants. All were delicious. Along with this she worked with me to provide welcome bags in each room and included an area map and things to see and do. Another shout out to Dwight who worked the front desk and was very hospitable. Each morning a lovely breakfast basket was brought to our rooms with a variety of items to get our day started. We made use of the pool as a great gathering spot. Highly recommend Ella's Cottages and their friendly staff!

The hotel itself is a wonderful property. The pool is excellent, it is very close to Duval street, and the hospitality was wonderful. But, let me tell you - Their billing and customer service are by far the worst I have ever worked with. Working with Hotels.com, My stay was supposed to be in the ballpark of 300.00/day, after all of the applicable taxes and resort fees. Hotels.com billed me for a "deposit" of 300.00 about a month before my arrival. Upon arriving at the hotel, They immediately deducted me for 900.00 for the difference of 600.00 plus a "security deposit". A day or so later, I was immediately hit with an additional 900.00 charge that they will not release. I have spoken with the hotel, IHG corporate, a "manager" with the property, and hotels.com. At this point, it is like seeing a spider-man meme; everyone is pointing fingers at each other and sending me through beauocracy while I am stranded in Key West, hoping to get home and check my bags because I have 1600.00 outstanding on my card that No One is capable of explaining to me. This is an amazing property, but their lack of any ability to resolve a situation makes it impossible for me to ever want to associate myself with an IHG hotel ever again. If you want your vacation ruined, this is a great place to stay. If you are looking to have the amazing time you deserve in paradise, I would recommend going elsewhere

Location was near all the action but it was peaceful. The grounds were beautiful. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful. I loved the breakfast basket that was delivered to my door daily.

We loved our stay at Ella's! The location was perfect, our room was beautiful and clean, the breakfast basket was way better than we imagined it would be. Having parking on site was great, the property is vibey in an awesome secret garden sort of way. Will absolutely return when we come back to Key West!

A great place to stay! 2 blocks off Duval Street, so a lot of shopping and dining options are within walking distance. All staff members we dealt with were so polite and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

The property is in the perfect location to walk to Duval. It's clean and quiet and the Dwight who runs the property is wonderful. Each morning you receive and adorable and delicious breakfast basket that is so special. I will be staying again.

Great location just a block off of Duval. Bus stop for the Duval Loop (free bus service that loops around Key West) is just outside the front door. Bed was quite comfy, and breakfast was excellent. Note that if you're a light sleeper, you don't want to be in the City Rooms. They're just a few feet off the street and you'll hear trucks and motorcycles go by. Book the rooms off the street with the patios. Great splash pool and access to Winslow Cottages pool (larger with a bar) just a few blocks away.

I can’t say enough good things about our stay at Ella’s adorable cottage. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by the most lush, tropical landscaping—it felt like our own private paradise. The grounds are impeccably maintained and absolutely stunning, creating a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere that made it hard to leave. One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast basket delivered to our door each morning—truly a treat. Each one was filled with the most delightful assortment of pastries, yogurt, granolas, fresh bagels, Eggs, cheese and rich coffee. Everything was delicious, clearly curated with care, and such a special touch to start the day. The staff could not have been sweeter—genuinely kind, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay. Little details like conveniently placed water and ice machines, and a great pool area, made the experience even more comfortable. This place is a hidden gem, and I would absolutely stay here again. 10 out of 10 experience in every way.

We enjoyed Ella’s Cottages. The staff was awesome and the pool area was relaxing. The continental breakfast and afternoon tea were fab. We would go back.

Everything was wonderful here - location, rooms, pillows, robes, pool and lounging area, reception staff and the morning breakfast baskets were a delightful, delicious way to start the day.
