Dubuque Inn and Suites

The place will do to lay your head down, but the pool was ice. Cold kids would not even get in it and the breakfast was just mediocre. Food was cold.

The pool and gym area were closed due to renovation. The free wifi was for 60 minutes. None of this was announced before booking. Price paid was for a much higher level experience. Very disappointed child.

Elevator wasn’t working, tub drain was plugged, overall not very clean.

Elevator was not working. WiFi not working! Hallway walls were peeling. The people were nice. I think this motel was transferring to a different chain so maybe that is why it was the way it was. The room was clean.

The pool was closed for renovation. This was disappointing since it was advertised as having a pool and we were expecting it.

Decent hotel for the price. Could use some updating, 2nd floor hallway walls are tore up on the bottom. Pool was freezing & a lot of chlorine. Breakfast was good, not a lot of selection though. What they had was good.

The pool was VERY cold!

The staff at the hotel was very helpful. Breakfast was on the skimpy side...but we had lots of traveling baseball families in the hotel...so lots of guests to feed. The hotel is older and the staff is continually working on it to keep it maintained. I use the exercise room and was happy to have a treadmill with free weights as well. The pool was older but still very nice.

Gym and pool were closed without notice and for a family trip that was very disappointing

Dirty and smelly

Horrible hotel! Booked 3 rooms. Horrible mold in all bathrooms. Hotel is run down and showing its wear. I booked because of the good reviews, but this is not the case. I addressed the mold situation as soon as I saw it, and front desk just told me hotel is full there is nothing they could do. Stay away!

Staff was very friendly. Our rooms bath was recently painted and the bathroom was not cleaned, tape and covers still in the tub. Alerted the front desk. She said she would let her manager know. Otherwise everything was fine.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent stay was honestly disappointing. The room was not up to standard in terms of cleanliness or upkeep. The ironing board had a large, noticeable stain that was both unsightly and unhygienic- definitely not something you’d expect in a hotel that’s supposed to be professionally cleaned between guests and “newly” remodeled. Even worse, the bathroom had visible wall damage next to the toilet with tiles falling off the wall. The trim was cracked and peeling, which gave the entire space a neglected feel. In the shower, the tub and soap dispensers had body hair all other- it was very gross. The shower head was covered in pink scum, it honestly appeared as if the shower had never been cleaned. It’s small details like these that make a big difference, especially when you’re paying to stay somewhere that should provide comfort and cleanliness. It’s clear that maintenance and quality checks are being overlooked. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and invests more effort into basic standards of hygiene and room care. Until then, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Older gotel but was very clean.

The staff were very nice and wonderful! The hotel was clean and very nice.

The bathroom tub had mold all around the tub. The paint was peeling in various spots. There was a musty smell when we entered the room. The room was significantly smaller than the picture. The staff was very nice.

Both members of the staff that we interacted with were very friendly and thoughtful. The front of the building was under construction. All the hallways smelled terribly like weed, but the smell didn't get into our room.The room was clean and bed was comfy but the A/C had visible mold or mildew all over the slits and I definitely did not have the best breathing experience. Room was very quiet and did not hear much from stairs or hallway. We didn't have breakfast but it smelled good. Did not go in the pool but it looked clean and taken care of.

Air conditioner didn’t work so the room was hot when I got there manager, fix the air conditioner cause it popped. The breaker bathroom stunk like mildew. It was not pleasant.

The room was clean but seemed crowded with furniture. The room itself looked unfinished. The corner area where the fridge, microwave, ironing board, iron and hair dryer were stacked looked like an afterthought and unfinished. The entry to the room was very narrow and long. The access area around the bed was tight. If a person was sitting at the end of the bed the other person could not easily pass. I would not want to stay in this room next time I visit Dubuque.

They seemed to be in the process of trying to update the property so I am not sure if the unit we had was completed yet or not. I will start with the positives. The bed was comfortable, the hot water and the water pressure was good. The air-conditioning worked well and the room seemed clean. I liked that they did have a full length mirror. It was odd because there was NO closet area and no hooks to hang clothes or coats. There was no overhead light and only two lamps, one on each nightstand, so the room was dark. The television made us laugh because it was so small you could barely see the picture. Televisions are not expensive nowadays. Wouldn't you put, at minimum, a 48 inch in the room? The room was very sparse but if you just need a place to sleep, it works

This hotel is in transition from a Fairfield by Marriott to. Choice Inn and Suites. There are some rough edges to be smoothed out due to the renovation, but the hotel is clean, quiet, and comfortable. Included breakfast is fair to good for this level of hotel. Bed was extremely comfortable and room was spotlessly clean!

Room was updated and nice. Hotel did not have a sign and seemed to go under multiple names.

Overall we had a good stay. Walls are very thin and you can hear everything from the halls. No enforcement of quiet hours even though the times are posted at the desk.

The best part of this hotel is the proximity to the university, shopping, and restaurants. Rooms were small, but clean. We had a problem with our key cards that was never fixed. It had to be inserted at least 3-5 times before it would work even for the desk clerk.

Room was nice and cool on a very hot day, bed not so comfortable, but was still able to get a decent sleep. Chemical's in the pool were little strong, irritated my skin a little.

The hotel was under renovation so some disruption was expected. However, the in room refrigerator didn't work so our take home from our first night of dining spoiled. Also, there was no closet or dresser so we lived out of suitcase on the couch. Overall, it was not a terribly unpleasant stay but definitely not worth the price we paid. As a final note, the banner outside read, "Dubque Inn & Suites."

We were happy to see our 'go-to' hotel when visiting our college daughter was reopened. Upon check-in, we were notified that the elevator was down. I am recovering from double-knee surgery, not ideal. Suggestion- reserve some rooms on the first floor for these situations???? When we go to our room on the second floor, it was SO dark and hot. We opened the curtains and turned on the air. The room cooled down after awhile.

Front desk staff was super accommodating.

It was very nice. When I arrived I was worried because the first name of the hotel was spelled wrong. When I checked the clerk said they knew they just hadn’t gotten around to changing it. But the room was nice, the people were very kind, the room was clean. I would stay again.

The hotel is under renovation, but I didn’t notice any of it. The desk clerk was amazing.

The staff bent over backwards to accommodate my mistakes in booking the wrong date, not once, but twice. All done with a smile and a friendly manner. The hotel was undergoing some renovations so there was some construction inconvenience (the pool wasn't open and there was a faint smell of paint). However, the room was clean and comfortable. Overall, a positive experience.

On a Friday night there really should be more than one person at the front desk. The only girl that was here is ill and had to leave. She checked us in ( at 8:20) but headed out after. She left a note saying someone is coming in at 11:00.

Renovation work in progress I’m sure made staff work more difficult. They did a good job making our short stay pleasant.

1st floor under construction, rude staff at check in (also very uninformed) The reviews on Expedia were 8/10. Couldn’t be further from reality! I was overcharged the quote I was given. Would NOT recommend to anyone!

The manager at the front was very nice. They need to get a proper sign for their building. The walls seemed very thin. Other customers walking down the hall, opening/slamming doors, bathroom vent in room next door, etc were all very loud.

Great property close to amenities.

This property seems to be changing brands and updating. It did not have much trafffic the Friday night of our stay. Every thing was clean and comfortable, lobby breakfast was skimpy, but worth the cost (included).

Definately needs updated. Room was clean but old. Breakfast as almost nothing. Only two muffins and only two slices of bread. There were eggs and a couple sausage patties.

Room was relatively clean as was the lobby. Internet service was not available in the room, was informed that they were working on it. The "breakfast" was less than the average hotel breakfast. Coffee was weak and biscuits and gravy were cold but the waffles were good. Overall the stay was a bit bellow average.

We were happy with our room. Bed was very comfortable and it was quiet. The only thing i didn't like was the breakfast. I had eggs, bacon, and sausages. Everything tasted bland.

This is our 'go to' when visiting Dubuque- which we do often. SUPER excited with the renovations being done. LOVE the carpetless flooring. Would appreciate a few more pillows on the bed. Breakfast was great- stocked and cleaned often. Thanks for the great stay! We will be back!

The breakfast was not kept stocked. Had to ask for plates and bowls..food was empty or not much left. In our room the body wash and shampoo was empty. The bathroom door was not adjusted correctly and was extremely hard to open and close to the point we almost thought it may break.

The bed was very comfortable & the whole place was very clean. Limited hot breakfast items of eggs, potatoes & sausage. 2 kinds of fruit. There was no sugar-free cereal or sugar-free syrup for the prepackaged waffles, only sugar-free hot chocolate. No microwave. I called before booking to ask about the breakfast selection but wasn't given much info. I booked this hotel to use the hot tub, but the whole swimming area was closed & apparently there are no plans to reopen it. I was unable to get an additional heavy blanket because there were none, I was told. The rm frig never got very cold & it didn't have a freezer. I asked for a very quiet room. I was given a room far away from the elevator & I had few neighbors. But, it was on the side of the building by the road where big trucks passed by, & it was noisy. The backside of the building was quieter. I liked the fact that the room wouldn't be cleaned until we left. There was a sign that said we could get fresh towels when we asked for them. The room was bright enough but could have been brighter. There were beds for 4 people but only 1 chair. Hot water was plentiful & the lg. shower head was nice. I didn't like the lg. shampoo & hair conditioner bottles that previous guests, could have opened & put something in. We were told we'd have to pay for incidentals, but we weren't told what that included (we asked), or that we could ask for a free toothbrush & paste, so we had to go shopping the 1st night. The staff was friendly enough.

Breakfast was pretty slim and coffee was pretty weak. Other than that no complaints. Staff very friendly.
