Great location near plenty of restaurants/bars and stores. Room overlooked the Boston Marathon finish line. There is only one parking spot available for check in and parking is down a few blocks at a parking garage for $35 per day. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Good little hotel in a great location; at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Friendly and helpful staff, cute coffee shop and restaurant are adjacent. Carpets have seen better days and the parking ($30/night) is a 15 minute walk away and then another 15' drive back due to Boston's famous 'you can't get theyah from heyah' one way streets. Still a nice spot from which to explore this classic city. Price point 30% higher that it should be.

Good location and nice staff. Rooms are pretty small but clean. Parking is far away and the hotel has basically no amenities onsite. Even the attached restaurant doesn’t open until 8. If you are just using this the sleep and spend the rest of your time off site then this works well for a quick trip.

Seeing as I am sleeping in my car outside of the hotel tonight, I am really unhappy with my stay. Much of my belongings are upstairs in the room and I can’t access them. I was given a code to get into the hotel, but clearly the door was jammed. They do not have anybody on site for any kind of emergency. I will not be paying for my room tonight.

The Charlesmark could not be better located. It's right in the heart of the swankiest shopping and residential district in Boston, a short and beautiful walk from the magnificent Boston Common, all of the top restaurants in town at your fingertips. It's also 50 yds from a T stop that can get you anywhere you can't walk. In terms of the property itself... One can't help but get the impression that this used to be a college dorm. The rooms are small and spartan, albeit pristinely clean. The bathrooms are tiny. The artwork on the walls screams dorm art. Since I was in town, partly, to visit my alma mater, this aesthetic seemed somewhat appropriate. But the term 'boutique hotel' clearly means something different at the Charlesmark than it does in a place like New York or Paris. Amenities are all a la carte, there's no on-site gym or spa. I'm not at all upset that I stayed there, but I think for the money I would probably make another choice next time.

Loved the location and condition of room. Although we knew it before we arrived, the no on-site parking is huge inconvenience. The first time we stayed at a place that did not offer parking, and it'll certainly be the last. Nothing to do with the facility itself, but hugely inconvenient.

I recently checked into this hotel today for one night. The bathroom tub is unsanitary and dirty. I went to the front desk and asked for bleach, scrubber and gloves to clean the tub myself. The front desk person was lovely and she offered to change my room, unfortunately I was unable to because my 11 year old son is currently sleeping and suffers from epilepsy and waking him up from his sleep is a trigger for seizures. She advised that she would have the bathtub cleaned within 15 minutes. We traveled from New York City as my son is going to be admitted to Boston Children’s Hospital tomorrow for the next few days. I prepaid $325.72 for one night to be placed in a room that reeks of mold, moisture, mildew and the bathtub is not suitable for use. This is completely unacceptable. We traveled 4 hours via Amtrak to check in to a boutique hotel that is not sanitary. I have attached a photo for reference.

We spent good money to stay at a hotel within walking distance of the venue we were going to. The first thing is that they put us on different floors. Not a big deal, but inconvenient. Then we saw a mouse run into one of the rooms we booked. When we complained, they did nothing. We also found blood all over the bathroom and stains on the bedding. When we brought this up to the front desk, they assured us we would be contacted for a refund of some kind. They have not called, and when we call to speak to them, they send us to voicemail. Not worth the money.

The hotel is extremely well located and despite the restaurant downstairs, it was quiet. But, the room was extremely small, the furniture was dated, the mattress was too soft and caved-in in the center, and the place was not worth the price at all. Also smells from the restaurant came in through the air shaft in the middle of the building. At 1/2 the price, it would have been absolutely worth it.

This is a quirky place. Cute. Great staff. Some surprises: our room didnt have a window, interior basement level. That level had an unpleasant smell in the hall, like old bathroom. I couldn't get the TV to work. No valet. All in all, a good value. But quirky.

The rooms were not as pictured, it’s a boutique hotel so expect small. There is no window, rather it’s just a window opening up to a brick wall so no natural light at all despite the images online. The water pressure for the shower was non existent, the sink water comes out full blast almost hitting the floor it’s so strong, the shower water basically falls from the shower head, by the time it hits your body it’s basically a mist. Just felt like we got duped from what we were expecting. The “breakfast” and coffee is also a joke. Location is great but not worth the money at all.

BEWARE! Under no circumstances would i stay at this hotel again. We checked in, went to dinner, and upon our return there were personal items missing from the room. Some of which were my wifes medications. We reported it to the front desk. No help. Filing a police report but this property is NOT SAFE.

I paid the extra fee for a refundable room. Due to a death in the family earlier in the week, we were unable to make the stay. It is my fault for not calling the hotel on time, but I did call them the day of the reservation to try to work something out and they would not make any concession whatsoever. I offered to send a copy of the death certificate, but they wouldn't budge. I wrote a separate email to management explaining the situation, but they never even responded.

If being in the heart of Boston is what you want, the CharlesMark Hotel delivers! We were so pleased to arrive Friday for the Farmer's Market just in front of the historical Public Library. See the world class murals in the library was a real treat and literally across the street. The Green Line T, which takes you to the north end, was at the end of the block. The Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum were a pleasant 20 minute walk away. The hotel check in was smooth. The staff gave us great restaurant recommendations for nearby and in the north end. We were pleased with the comfort and cleanliness of our room. Breakfast was fresh fruit (bananas, oranges, apples) and superb croissants, and good coffee. Parking was maybe a five minute walk away, but you can drop off your luggage first if needed and then move your car. Be sure to follow the directions for keeping your ticket, getting it stamped, and payment. I would stay here again!

The hotel’s location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping, and using public transportation. There’s a T stop for the green line a minute away. The hotel is in an old building with narrow, sloping hallways. Although my room was small by today’s standards, it had nice furnishings and bedding. The room was very clean and very well arranged. The breakfast is self-serve coffee or tea and a very small croissant. However, it’s served in a lovely coffee bar and there’s a good restaurant attached to the lobby. There’s also outdoor seating.

(NO breakfast) The breakfast was very minimal — just a small croissant and coffee. No juice, fruit, or variety. There was also no tea or coffee in the room, and nothing available in a common area, which was disappointing. That said, the location is excellent — right in Back Bay, across from the Boston Public Library and steps from Copley Station. The staff at reception were warm and helpful, and check-in was smooth and pleasant.
