Hotel Ivy Boston Common

pretty sure this was a hostel. not good and not worth $500 /night!

Love the location and property.

We booked a queen size room. I had called to assure that the bed had easy access on both sides, which was verified by the receptionist. Upon arrival, we were given a double bed with a bed that could only be accessed on one side. When speaking to the GM the next morning, she told me the bed WAS a queen, (it was not, I measured it) and they had no other availability and apparently no housekeeping staff to clean our room. No apology was given, nor a price reduction offered. I asked her to look up the notes on my reservation and she said that our room was changed. Without notifying us!! I requested a partial refund. I then was reluctantly offered a $50 discount per night. The room was ground floor, the window did not lock completely. The outlet by the sink did not work and came out of the wall when being unplugged, no internet, there was not enough floor space for 2 carry-on suitcases to be open AND be able to open the door, 1 wooden chair to sit on, the mattress smelled bad and was dilapidated, the carpet was disgusting, no amenities in the room whatsoever. The noise from the lobby was heard easily in the room. On our 2nd day I asked to see if there was a room available, the receptionist moved us immediately to the room we actually booked. This experience cast a shadow on our entire Boston visit. The general manager should have apologized and corrected the situation and told us upon check-in that the room was changed. I CAN NOT recommend this establishment.

Good, close to theaters. Would stay again

Room was very clean, but very tiny with virtually no amenities. There is no room to store anything that doesn't fit on the 6 or so hangers provided. It took more than a day for staff to open a safe that had been left locked by the previous occupant. I suspect there are much better values to be found for the price.
