Quality Inn Gaylord

After we checked in, we found out the outside entrance near our room did not lock. After asking the front desk about it, we were told that they were “doing renovations” and they had no way to lock it. I asked how long it had been like that and was told around 6 to 12 months. After a conversation with the assistant manager, I was told we could leave if we did not like it. The room was ok, except for the sewer drain cap that was loose in the closet area so whenever someone flushed the toilet down the hall, you could hear it in our room. I’m all for hotels making improvements, however none of this was stated when booking. Overall, not a great experience.

Very basic, broken room doors, broken pool, limited gym and seedy area.

Breakfast had a good variety, room was clean yet outdated. Nice to have a microwave/frig in room. Pool/hot tub was clean, yet hot tub jets didn’t work but was good after a day of skiing. Had a light burn out in bathroom and they fixed immediately. Price was right!

Equipment isn’t even plugged in and it’s ridiculously old.

Toilet kept running, toilet seat broken, noisy employeee with no muffler kept starting car several times throughout night, back entry doors had no security, broken , shower in room wasn’t working right, back parking lot had no light. Check in guy was great. Breakfast okay.

It was convenient because it was close to the highway. The pool was open yet it had a few inches or more of algae growth in the deep end. Hot tub was open but the jets wouldn't work. Was expecting that there would be at least scrambled eggs on the breakfast buffet but no it was lame as well. Biscuits and gravy which was not good. Also, they claimed to have a strict no smoking policy yet right around the corner from the front desk was hit with the smell if pot smoke. That wasn't as bad as opening my room and smelling stall cigarette smoke. Not a good experience . I would not recommend.

This hotel is nothing like the pictures in the advertising. The entire hotel is under construction. The locks to enter the building were non-operational, anyone from the street could have walked right in. The pool and hot tub were empty. We booked a hotel with an indoor pool and could not use it. Upon entering the room, the door was extremely hard to open and close because of a broken door frame, as if the door had been kicked in. We were able to use force to shut the door. I immediately noticed the bed. The sheets that were being used as blankets were queen sized. The bed in fact was a king size. The box spring were not covered. The bed was comfortable, however we had to blast the heat because we had no actual blankets, just sheets. The bathroom was an absolute disgusting mess. A gross plastic liner was stuck to the tub floor, I peeled it back partially and about gagged. The overflow was caulked very poorly. The sprinkler system was hanging from the ceiling. We could not shower at all. The tub floor was absolutely disgusting. I have pictures of everything! These people should be ashamed of themselves for charging full rate for this place. The lobby smelled of cigarettes.It was a sham. Extremely disappointed, will absolutely never stay here again. People should be warned of amnesties that are not available. They should be warned the property is under construction. They should be warned of security risks. All before booking a non-refundable room. I have pictures!

Had to wait forever for the receptionist to come to the front desk. After I’m all checked in she said: by the way the pool and hot tub are down. Had I known, I would have went someplace else in town

Dirty sheets and towels stains all over shower drain was broken and clogged

Bathtub was filthy .. dirt ring around the whole tub.. bottom of tub was filthy and had rust spots.. Ceiling had mold.. whole hotel room smelled.

Hotel was adequate to needs and for the price, no complaints except for the filthiness of the floors in the room. Bad enough that when I tried to mop up some spilled water using a bath towel, the towel came up blackened. And, when I walked around barefoot in the room for 20 minutes after showering, I had to clean my blackened soles before putting socks and shoes on. Don't see how this gets so bad unless the hotel deliberately neglects cleaning the room floors for extended periods of time.

The giant ant and cockroach were the last straw for me. The beds looked like they should have been retired ages ago. There was rust all over the bathtub. The sink was being propped up by a piece of old wood. Anyone can walk in from the outside using the side doors - no key required. When we decided to leave at 11:10 pm because of the bugs they refunded us some of the cost of the room. We went to the Comfort Inn down the street and it was much, much better!

Breakfast cold couldn't even warm it up because the microwave was broken along with the 1st floor ice machine. Live and dead cockroaches in bathroom. Cockroach feces inside of wall mounted hair dryer in bathroom

Floors were stained. Shower was stained and dirty. Sauce on wall. Found blood on bed. Outside door did not always lock, next door was a hazard as it just slammed shut. Pool was out of order. Beds were hard. Decent breakfast and room AC worked good. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient.

The property was filthy, I had to change rooms 3 times after check out due to mold, dirt and mouse poop on beds, shower and couch. The staff then proceeded to make derogatory comments about me in front of me in a language they did not think I understood due to me making complaints about the mouse poop. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The only good side was the front desk worker when I first checked in. She was extremely helpful and sincere with her apologies due to the conditions of the room. She deserves to work somewhere much nicer and more appreciative of there staff.

Room chairs are stained, bathroom door doesn’t fit the door jam, hair dryer is falling off the wall and no night curtains in the window.

Well unfortunately this was the weirdest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. When I got there after a wedding it was late and the door wasn’t lined up so had to slam it shut which may have been heard by others. I noticed one of the things used to close the curtain was on the ledge so took a picture so they wouldn’t think I took it off. There was also a fake eyelash on the bathroom floor and one of the water cups wasn’t even in a plastic wrapping like the other one which was weird. The lotion bottle was empty and there was also just a few squares left of TP on the roll. Just overall weird with multiple things out of whack. When I checked out I told them about the door and other things and the lady asked the guy there if he knew about the door but someone should have known. You’d think the last person that stayed there would have said something. I told them all of this so they don’t try to charge me for something that was done before I got there and I didn’t tell them I took pictures just in case they try to charge me. I thought maybe they wouldn’t charge me for the room with all that I mentioned above. Just very weird.

The room was clean, the bathroom walls under the sink need to be repaired properly. The room door was sticking when you open or closed it because the top hinge needed to have the hinge pin replaced, wrong size or wore out. That caused the door to drop and that made it stick. Could not shut off the fan on the heater/ac unit. The electrical outlet by the bed had a big hole, the plate cover couldn't cover it.

The toilet was not fastened to do the floor properly and the bathroom door top hinge was severely loose.

Overall, it was okay. We were on motorcycles and showed up just before it started to storm. They let us keep our motorcycles at the front door, under the overhang until the storm was done (30-35 minutes). We had a king size bed and a pull out couch. There were 4 pillows in the room. We asked for 2 more, but were told they did not have enough pillows to give us extra. The hallways were not air conditioned. The bathroom ceiling was a drop ceiling and the metal grid was rusting. The vent fan was very loud and looked as if it was from the 1970s. The toilet tank had been glued together and porcelain inside the bowl at the pipe was worn off. It made the toilet look like was not clean.

Heard everything the people in the surrounding rooms were saying and doing.

The condition of the room was questionable, if not poor. The top hinge on the bathroom door was broken, causing the door to drag on the floor. The entrance door to the building was broken; you could enter the building without a key card. The room itself was outdated in its decor, which can be somewhat excused. However, the general condition of the building was poor. The other guests were also questionable, both ethically and morally. We will not stay there again.

Customer service was just ok, not too friendly. The hotel is old, doing some remodeling. Carpets dirty and run down. Stairs are steep- no elevator. The room was clean.

The price for the rooms were great. The rooms were clean. I did not like that. Our entrance door top hinge was broke off hard to close the door complained to the front desk twice, and it wasn’t fixed.

After a number of hours on the road, it was lovely to come into the hotel and be greeted by a wonderful staff.

Staff was friendly . Check in and out was easy. It was decent the only concerning thing was door to room was hard to shut. I didn’t do the breakfast but it served my purpose. I would stay again.

I ended up paying $50 more than expected. My reservation did not show up and the initial attendant was rude and not willing to help resolve the issue.

Rooms were booked everywhere so we looked for what ever had an opening and was reasonably priced. Hotel appeared clean at 1st glance, the young man at the front desk was not very informative… he gave us our keys and told us to drive around to the side for our room, no mention about internet, breakfast, or checkout the next day… nothing! Walked into our room and it was freezing cold, tried to adjust the air conditioning but couldn’t so we ended up shutting it off. The frame around the door was broken like someone had forced the door at some point and no one bothered to fix it properly. The drapes on one side were falling off the rod. 3 large pesty flies bugged the room our entire stay. Breakfast was bare basics.

The staff were very helpful finding an item I left and keeping it for to pick up when I was headed home. Great job!

About as good as you can find in the area.

The price was good for the area Right off of interstate 75!

The motel was quite nice, but there’s nothing to do in Gaylord. This is just a stop to get to the UP, Petoskey, Boyne, or Traverse City for day trips.

This Quality Inn was located close to the place I was working and right off the express way. The room was spacious with a desk and couch. The bathroom was a bit crowded and the carpeting smelled as it if need cleaning. I did hear at the desk that there was to be a complete renovation of the hotel soon. Typical hotel included breakfast, but with a good selection of options. The price was the draw for me.

Overall it was a good experience, the place was a bit dated with the outside doors not fully shutting or locked, the room door seemed to be stuck always had to force it open and shut, the bathroom was clean but very small, the bed wasn't the worst but also not the greatest, the head board made it hard to get comfortable, very nice pillows tho, the pool area and hall to get there was very run down and ghetto along with the hot tub that looked more like a ses pool of pee and Germs,and was not hot at all. the pool was nice and clean, but the whole pool room needed to be repaired and updated along with all the exterior doors, the staff was very friendly i give the staff a 10 out of 10 but the hotel maybe a 6 out of 10, it was nice that it was so close to all the snowmobile trails and easy to access from the hotel.

The pool was great, plenty warm and deeper than most. The spa was only mildly warmer than the pool. The hallway rug is very worn, with tape holding it in place. The breakfast was not breakfast. The room lighting was lacking by the entrance door. The staff was very courteous and helpful.

Breakfast offered the same items every day. Aftr a few days biscuits and gravy starts to get old. Beggels are good. The pool is heated.

Things where good. But the coffee was bad, the bed was bad, and the bathroom door scraped the floor

The continental breakfast was delicious, especially the biscuits and gravy! The bathroom was handicap friendly and that was a plus as well. The king sized bed was a little too soft for us but we made due.

Breakfast was sparse. Staff had difficulty keeping sausage gravy supplied. And only had one waffle maker. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful

The breakfast was still in the crock pot from yesterday. For a place with a lot of managers, I was very disappointed in this quality inn. And I only stay at quality inns. Check out Hannable, MO.
