Best Western State Fair Inn

Paid for poolside room and wasn't given a pool side room and still charged the same rate. Sink in room was clogged, all wall outlets were so worn out you couldn't charge anything. They had one person working both the front desk and breakfast area and the food was complete out when we showed for breakfast. No pool towels at the pool. Main issue I saw was just lack of staff

John was amazing at check in answering all our questions. We were only in room after dinner time till before breakfast time but the time in room was enjoyable. Pool was nice, breakfast was best we’ve had in awhile and all staff we dealt with were nice. Only dislike was no elevator

I like to look at reviews so I’m trying to help. Staff is as really nice. Morning chef/cook was great. Place was clean. Common area with pool was a nice set up. This is more of a motel style doors opening to the outside or the interior. It could use a remodel and refresh but I would stay here again.

The room was clean, our door was hard to open. it wouldn't read the card right. Had to go to the front desk to get new one to open it. When I went up to the front desk around 11:00 the young man working was not very friendly. The pool was okay but the hot tub or little pool was cold.

You can tell they are updating the hotel. The room accessible from the outside are pet friendly. We had a room on the first floor inside near the pool. Smelt like chlorine. Inside the room was clean and tidy. Ceiling low in washrooms. Great hotel for children.

Very nice place with excellent breakfast offerings. Quiet, clean, comfortable. My only complaint was that what I expected to be a hot tub was a kiddie pool, and it was difficult pulling out into the busy highway from the parking lot.

My room was by exit and ice machine so a little noisy. My room could use a face lift. Parking lot needs paving. Overall a good place to stay. But they are getting top dollar for a moderate level room.

I love the indoor pool and the breakfast is really good. Several choices from hot & cold. Staff is very nice. There are inside & outside room entrances. “Face the pool” if you want a “hotel” experience & save a little and have outside door for motel like room. The rooms themselves are smaller, average but clean, cold ac & has sink & vanity outside shower/toilet area which I look for because it makes getting ready easier for the family. It’s SUPER close to the state fair grounds (like 2 minutes) sonic & Mexican food walking distance. It’s not new so if you’re looking for updates you won’t find it here. It’s clean, safe, bug free (a must!!), convenient, free WiFi & Free hot breakfast but the room is still a “outdated motel vibe” so don’t expect higher & then rate them lower because it’s not fancy or updated. It’s $50 a night cheaper for the things that really matter in this price point esp! My daughter & I really love staying here. We get an inside room so I can sit at the pool area (tons of seating, tables, comfy chairs, while she swims & if she’s gotta go to the bathroom or room for anything, I don’t have to pack up everything, I can see her walk to our room. Also, if you’re into walking, this hotel was prob a motel once where all the rooms squared around the pool. Now they added a roof but now you can walk the upstair inside balcony around the pool. Anyways, lots of space to walk and move around inside. Wish there was a hot tub but nope. It’s a 2’ kiddie pool now.

There are no natural light windows into the rooms, your main window looks to the common areas. Our sheets were dirty or stained so we had to ask for the bed to be remade while we went out to dinner. You can hear everything happening outside your room as the indoor pool is in the common space just outside the rooms as is the breakfast area.

Old property, the pictures in Expedia show as new, decent hotel. But hotel is very old, dirty. Inside room where the air blows - very dirty, carpet has old smell, bathtub does not drain well… you have to take a shower after next person and the dirty water was 1/3 if bathtub filled…

We stayed at the BW State Fair Inn in Sedalia after my first day on a through ride on the Katy Trail. The hotel was an old style "doors-on-the-outside" hotel circa the 1970s and no elevator to the second floor. However, the experience there was very good. The staff was very efficient and friendly upon check in. The rooms were spotless, the water hot and the beds very clean and comfortable. The breakfast the next day was excellent. Real, organic scrambled eggs rather than the powdered eggs you get from some of the other hotel chains. We ended up making breakfast tacos with the eggs and leftover fajitas in the microwave which were delicious. The hotel was only a couple of minutes from the Fairgrounds trailhead which was very convenient.

Upon entry to the room, dead roaches behind the door. Dead flies on the ceiling. Killed a spider on the guest bed, then killed 2 more in the handwashing part of the room. Took a shower, grit backwashed from the shower drain, so you were standing in dirty water. Next day, beds were made, dead spider fluids remained on the bed linen. Spider crawled up from behind the bed, another in the bath area. There was one kleenex in the box uopn arrival, box never replaced, so none for the rest of our stay. Both the air vent and bathroom vents were filthy. Debris was on the carpet by the bed closet to the wall. The room needs fumigated and deep cleaned. I would not recommend anyone choose this hotel and definitely not room 155!

The hotel was clean. Our room was not around the pool so it was quiet. The bed and pillows were comfy.

This property was outdated and dirty. They slapped some modernized features in the room but my pillows and sheets had hair and stains on them. The front desk worker was nowhere to be found for about 15 mins and WREAKED of alcohol when coming around the desk. There was also left over food in my room fridge from the previous people. Further proving these rooms are not cleaned. The room he tried to give us before was worse.

I have stayed here many times, never had a bad stay. Breakfast is excellent, always clean, and a friendly staff.

Only full size beds so me and my husband had to sleep separately, rooms appeared to be nice but were mostly spray painted just to look better, over all musty smell in the hotel, pool wasn’t clean. Breakfast was good but not very many options

The coffee pot leaked all over the counter. the bed was comfortable. The room was cold although we turned up the heat somewhat. But that was probably due to the frigid temps outside. and also having a ground floor.

The stay was ok but we had two rooms next to each other and both rooms had problems woth the toilet the wholr time we were there. Alsp, when it says queen beds, theu are not. They are full size.

None of the plug ins would work. There were stains on both of the bed. The night time worker when checking in was extremely rude to us. The only good part was we felt protected because of the cops and was so close to the fair.

To start with the man at the front desk was less than friendly. He acted like he did not want to be bother with guest. Once in the room I found it to be poorly maintained and dirty. Once I made my way into the bathroom I pulled a “clean” folded towel that looked like someone used it as a grease rag. To top things off there were guys in the parking lot working on their truck slamming hoods and doors until about 3:30am. There are cameras that the front desk SHOULD be watching but when I checked out there were not aware anyone was out there. Being on the very back of the hotel you would expect them to keep a closer eye on things. There was also a guy that slept in the outside stairwell most of the night. The IS NOT a 3 star hotel. I would give it a 1 1/2 maybe a 2 at the very best. It is not a 120 dollar room by any means.

The stay was great! Front desk lady was very polite and had a smile on her face. The only down fall was getting woke up at 8am from housekeeping knocking on door, and AGAIN at 830Am. When check out was 11AM! So much for sleeping in..

A bit of an older place that can use a refurbishment. The breakfast was enjoyable with a good variety. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great follow up on any issues.

Room was clean and quiet. Beds were a little firmer than I like, but that is the only thing I would change! The staff was so nice, the whole place was so clean and the area was convenient. There's a gas station across the street and restaurants too. The BREAKFAST! Oh my goodness! It was the best hotel breakfast I have ever had.

Easy check in & out. Clean, we do a pretty good check before settling in. The bathroom was on the smaller end, husband is 6'4 so yeah the older establishments tend to be that way. One entry way in the back smells bad. Did not have that anywhere else. Plenty of places to eat or run to the store.

I enjoyed our stay at this property. It was clean and reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly. Close to fairgrounds and lots of places to eat. Will definitely stay there again if we're in the area.

The breakfast buffet was really good.

Safe, secure and clean are my priorities when traveling. BW gets a high 5 on all counts. I also found the staff to be friendly and helpful. And, I can't forget to mention the awesome breakfast buffet.

Was great for our quick over night prior to tournament. Breakfast was not as good as it could have been. Lack of fresh fruit. And eggs and pancakes weren’t great. Not a lot of light options

Bed was a little uncomfortable. But the breakfast for both mornings was awesome. Very good flavorful, hot, plenty of variety. Chef even came out both mornings making sure we were satisfied. Best motel breakfast.
