The building is very outdated. We were put in a room in the basement. There was no elevator. There was peeling paint and it wasn’t overly clean. The indoor pool area was a mess, and dirty. The beach area is small but lovely

The rooms were fine, some age and wear. It was the pool area and the grounds that need work. The pools were cloudy and the area around the pool really needs work. The paths around the grounds were not accessible and the wood stairs need replacing and were completely lopsided. The pizza wasn't that great.

Beautiful scenery, short drive to town, friendly staff, lots of fun activities for the family to enjoy including 2 pools, hot tub and private beach with the option of using water crafts or swimming. We really enjoyed having a few fire pits already lit up at night. Overall it was an excellent experience for my family and we can’t wait to come back next summer.

We were very disappointed in the condition of the resort. It definitely needs a major refurbishment. The hallway ceiling tiles are a mess, the bathrooms had things on the wall that had been removed, and the old holes were never covered up. There were huge stains on the ceiling in our room. That being said, the staff were great. The restaurant was severely unstaffed, but the staff they had were very pleasant and accommodating. The pool and hot tub were warm and clean. The property is showing its age outside as well, but it is a beautiful location.

The staff, Charlene & Richard, were excellent with customer service. Both answered all my questions politely. The pool and hot tub were disappointing. It was clear the facilities need upgrading and the hot tub had green algae (?) on the outer side of the tub. The wall paper/paint was bubbled. The room was clean, but again there was signs of neglect and/or need of painting/wallpapering.

This property needs a facelift. Lobby, rooms, and the restaurant looks really outdated. The outdoor pool area has uneven walkways and the pool by itself was not clean at all. The whole property needs a total renovation. Tennis and basketball courts need to be resurfaced and fences around them needed to be repaired. Parking lots were very narrow and spots were limited. If this is how it looks in summer time with the lack of maintenance, I would question the safety of the ski lifts for winter activities.

It was a great weekend stay! Wish we could have stayed longer! Enjoyed the beach, the lake, the pool and the ability to use the resort’s equipment to play tennis, basketball and kayak/canoe. Loved the pulled pork sandwiches!!

I have never written a review before but I felt this time I had to. The hotel was extremely loud until 3am. Mould all over the room, dirty bedsheets and towels. I’ve stayed in some hostiles cleaner than this. It’s extremely expensive for what you get. I can’t believe we paid as much as I did for what we got. I will never stay here again and hope people don’t make the same mistake I did and not read the reviews first.

The hotel was barely occupied and I got a dirty room facing the parking lot. Dusty floors, pieces of food and liquid stains on the nightstand and TV cabinet, paint chipped on the door, and an absolutely disgusting bathroom. I was too scared to shower in there. When complained to the front desk clerk, she apologized but didn't do absolutely anything. She pointed to the sign with an email address and told me to send my concerns to that address. Which I did. They tried to call me, but I wasn't able to answer at the time, and I emailed back asking for a written response instead. Heard nothing back. Absolutely unacceptable customer service. Not to mention, their breakfast wasn't included in the price, and I honestly was too disgusted to eat on premises. There were signs of neglect everywhere - from non functioning water fountain, to peeling paint, to musky odour in hallways, filthy fake grass by the main entrance etc I will never ever return there again and will discourage everyone I know from staying there. Oh, and the tennis and basketball courts looked disintegrated, abandoned and dirty. Nothing like in the online pictures.

This building looks like no maintenance has been put into it since 2002. I do not think a single door opens or closes nicely. Either they slam shut in the halls or slamming on the door frame. Despite me telling the front staff that the bathroom door does not close they did not fix it. Another door was wedged so hard it was peeling the outer layer. They offer $16 breakfast buffet but 10 minutes into town is the better option. With all the fees and extra charges it was not really "resort" worthy The bar was infested with black flies in September which is never a good sign as most are dead outside. Additionally the tv could not change channel as "this is the only working station ". I am not sure what the $30 service charge included and it still has me wondering.

DO NOT STAY HERE - our room was filthy, shower had slime and mold, blow dryer was about to fall off the wall, body lotion dispenser had caked on lotion from previous guests, deadbolt chain was broken, patio door was left unlocked, carpet was stained and dirty, furniture very shabby. Outdoor pool was closed for maintenance and no one seemed to know why or when it would reopen. I could go on. It was disgusting!!

We were very grateful for the staff who moved us from a room that had a strong chlorine smell to a room that was far away from the pool. The rooms were clean but the facility needs to be updated with fresh paint, drywall patching and new wallpaper on the stairs.

The resort is older but needs updating . No elevator but worst thing was the walls are so thin you can hear everything. We changed rooms as the people next to us were super loud. Than we had again problem people next to us and had to call the front desk. After a warning it was better. Room is nice and clean and staff helpful but people do not seem to respect others. So we will not stay here again as it is not a cheap hotel and was super noisy and not a nice relaxing stay.

I’ve been going to HV for a few years now w my kids and I see they’ve made some improvements. Overall though, the service isn’t great at all. I tried to call the hotel for weeks before our stay and nobody ever answered the phone or returned my call. The front desk staff is sparse and they’re so so in terms of how they treat you. Very inconsistent. The restaurant food is average but ok, again short of staff. The beach gear needs to be replaced very badly. They should buy new loungers and gear for the activities, This all sounds negative but overall I still love HV and will continue the tradition with my kids!

The housekeeping for the rooms was great. The rest of the property was sad and in need of repairs. One person on the front desk in busy season made for a 55 minute check in. The staff was lovely but there weren’t enough of them. Had to move rooms because my window was broken and couldn’t be fixed. Expensive for subpar experience.

When we arrived our first room had no heat. The maintenance man offered us a space heater. We said we would prefer to move. The young lady at the front desk was very kind and accommodating and moved us to another room. In that room. The heater worked but it was very very noisy. We were very disappointed in the condition of the resort. It definitely needs a major refurbishment. The hallway ceiling tiles are a mess, the bathrooms had things on the wall that had been removed, and the old holes were never covered up. There were huge stains on the ceiling in our room. That being said, the staff were great. The restaurant was severely unstaffed, but the staff they had were very pleasant and accommodating. The pool and hot tub were warm and clean. The property is showing its age outside as well, but it is a beautiful location.

Nestled in the woods away from traffic. Spunds of birds and chipmunks in the nearby forested area. Easy access to fantastic Huntsville and to Dorset as well as Lake of Bays. So much to do and relax too.

The resort in older but well maintained and well kept, incredibly picturesque. The only negative might be the hill and stairs you need to navigate to get to the beach. Anyone with mobility issues would struggle. It didn't affect us but it might be a issue for some. All of that said, I realize that the resort can't really help it but maybe making it obvious to travelers would be helpful.

This hotel has a great location and would have great facilities if the pool and the hot tub were not so dirty. The rooms were nice and comfortable. The restaurant was not open because the hotel was not very busy. Not a big deal because it is only 5 min drive to the nearest town.

Pleasant but dated property in a nice location around Huntsville. The hotel probably looks a lot like it did in 1995. The staff is generally helpful, but the check-in and check-out were really, really slow, which is not what you want when you want to enjoy the property. Restaurant is good, but a limited menu, and all the dishes are fairly heavy.

A few small things: the breakfast does only start at 8am so for some travellers that are early risers or on the move you will have to get breakfast elsewhere. The hotel bar closes at 8pm so having a nightcap after a long day was not an option unless you brought your own from outside. This schedule might be different on a weekend as we were there on a Monday night.

The checkin staff were excellent. Then it went downhill from that point on. We got a very bad impression with the hall to our room. The carpets on the stairs and hall were extremely stained with rust marks and other stuff not sure I want to mention. Fortunately the room was spotless and decor very nice. The restaurant was a complete disappointment for dinner. The server gave us a lunch menu for dinner and after we questioned it was told us they had limited food items and they had ran out. Once we finished our pizza which was terrible we saw another patron eating steak. We questioned why we were not given that option and she apologized as she gave us the wrong menu. Totally unacceptable service. The beer served was warm and she brought us ice! Overall the food experience created a negative experience. The buffet breakfast was just ok. Coffee served was cold.
