MainStay Suites Raleigh - Cary

Nice, quiet. Hot water problem couple of days. No coordination between front desk staff and property renovators.

There was no breakfast, even though it says “breakfast included “. Gym facility was closed.

Bathroom sink plunger was broke and sink did not drain well . Overall the place was dirty and undergoing construction . No amenities at all in the hotel .

This property is under construction, so some of the state of the hotel is understandable. The room was in serious need of a renovation, though the bed was clean and comfy. However, if there was a problem, there was no staff. There was no one at the front desk, and even when we rang the bell, no one would appear. We had no hot water the first day and had no way of getting in touch with any staff until about 9pm that night. We did have hot water the following day, so they did fix the issue.

Not particularly clean, doors groan due to door frames not square, refrigerator not working, musty stale smelling room, vague, persistant odor of sewage in the parking lot, staff indifferent, construction debris inside and out, no breakfast, fitness room closed, shower waterflow almost too low to be of use, no dishes or glassware

As other reviews will mention the facility is under renovation so the entire first floor is not a good impression. Also the advertised breakfast area is being used as storage. Now the room its self was clean and comfortable. Only issue is that what was advertised as a queen bed was very much a full sized.

The only bad thing was there was no ice machine there which I have never heard of a motel not having a ice machine

They're currently under construction & the weight room is closed. A few other places really show the construction progress, but overall, it's quiet, clean & safe.

The hotel was affordable for how quickly I needed to book. However the bathtub and the sink in our bathroom clogged up really bad. The sink was a bit faster to drain, but the bathtub drained so slowly it was still full by the time we had to check out. We had also seen a few roaches, and I ended up killing one that was in the bathroom. I did tell the front desk, and they said that they’d report it to the GM, but have not heard anything back yet on that. The staff was nice, just a lil dismissive when I brought up the issues, which I know they’re probably tired of hearing the same complaints over and over, and from reading the other reviews, I know now I am not the only one to face these issues. Luckily I did not stay much longer, we ended up checking out way earlier than planned because the roach problem really turned us off.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! there are roaches. not only when we got there was the room gross. like dirty gross. the floor in the kitchen area was coming up, sticky, and the carpet had not been vacuumed in a while. the bathroom tube had gross stains and the floor was yellow. (was supposed to be white) the walls in the all had disgusting stains on them. the second night we were there we were walking back into the hotel and there were giant bugs outside. i thought maybe water bugs. but then we got into the hotel and there welder tiny light brown roaches in the hall way. we then got into our room and there was a roach ON THE WALL! there was no one at the front desk so we killed it. went through our stuff and took it to the car. the next morning when we told the staff they said sorry and then checked us out. i am fully disgusted and uncomfortable. please don’t stay here if you enjoy being clean.

The room was very very dirty and even when I mentioned to the front staff of toe nail clippings and cockroach that I killed because it scurried out from the bed - I was told that they just had an exterminator come … The bed was not clean underneath and the walls were dirty as well . I used my key points for the first night and extended stay and the second night is when I noticed everything .

There were crumbs and dirt on counter spaces and stains on the bed sheets. I could hear people walking around above me all night

The building smelled like rotten fish, the sink was stomped up and wouldn’t drain, the shower head was covered in rust or filth, there were stains on the bed covers and sheets

Bathroom faucets, toilet and tub were not clean. I cleaned myself and so much dirt came off. The kitchen area was also dirty. The room had a terrible smell and the ac worked on and off. We had to sleep with the window open to cool the room down. The beds were super uncomfortable. The staff were rude as I had to argue with them for a room change. After arguing, they allowed the room change but we decided to stay in the room after finding the other room was even dirtier.

The hotel was extremely loud and my room was dirty and had roaches climbing on the walls. The shower nozzle hadn’t been clean with mold. Also had an old wash rag that was hanging on the shower rod . I need to fully reimbursed for my stay at this hotel! Total inexcusable

Upon arrival we could not enter the hotel because the door was locked with no one at the front desk. After finally getting in to our room, there was a gaping hole in the ceiling. I called the front desk and they told me they were already aware of it but still booked that room for us. We also found multiple bugs in the bed, bathroom, and counter-space.

I paid in advance so to get the refund and find another spot would have been even more of an inconvenience due to how long refunds take . There were toe nail clippings by sofa , I chased a roach from out from under the bed , and there was balls of dust and left over legos from previous guest from who knows how long ago . I showed the front desk and they said the exterminator just came - I was advised that someone would come by and clean the room and bring more towels but that never happened and I sent my son to the front desk at a late hour he rang bell and no one came so we just made due with what we had . Very disappointed at our stay -and we’ve stayed here before

I have stayed in Cary a number of times and this was the worst place I have ever stayed. Hotels.com should be embarrassed to even have this place as a listing. We arrived late Thursday night and the went out for the day and came back to a roach in the room. I tried to call the front desk and the phone didn’t work. I called from my cell phone and was hung up three times. I went down and was met with indifference. I I didn’t ask for a refund just asked to be able to leave without penalty and nothing. The room was filthy. Stained bathroom floors that had hair everywhere. Dusty and dirty surfaces, stained bedding Hotels.com staff was also not able to resolve anything! We left the next morning a day early.

Our kitchen floor was sticky with who knows what. It has a large breakfast area with only coffee and hot water and a tiny "No Breakfast" sign. I have no idea how this location retains the MainStay Suites branding.

The room was comfortable and clean, the fridge and air conditioner were very noisy but tolerable. Front desk staff very friendly and attentive.

Great location, just a bit noisy - someone was running up & down the halls for hours on end.

The hotel.com photos are not even close to reality! First, I was coming in on business at the last minute and was looking at the photos - I purposely picked this place due to the breakfast photo. None offered! The bathroom was so run down. The tub was dirty - I didn’t even shower. The bedding had stains. The fridge was 100 years old & loud. This place 100% cat fished me! I’ll never be back & so disappointed I wasted over $100 here! The location is also random! By a school. I love the trailer parked in a handicap spot too! Ridiculous.

The beds are hard and uncomfortable has such a bad back ache could not enjoy my stay

Great room for the price

Room very clean and spacious. Bathroom was big. Had a kitchenette. Mattress, sheets, pillows amazing comfort. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not overcrowded. Would definitely stay again.

The heater sounds like a transfer truck running, the refrigerator sounded like it was going to take off running any moment. When the heater turns off it goes boom. The top of the fridge was dirty and it was bugs in the carpet not sure what kind and the sink look like it was going to fall off the wall at any moment.

The room was well-designed for a business traveler (desk was roomy and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The WiFi was not good - I was in a room at the very edge of reach (only had one "bar" at any time). Was dropped consistently - I finally had to hotspot on my phone to work without interruption, which used a significant amount of my monthly data. I strongly suggest WiFi boosters. I could not stay again (on business) without better connectivity.

The room standard i choose suite when i booked the hotel, the bathroom had no hot water and the toilet wasnmessed up, had too be pluge every single time if u wanted to not have an bigger problem, just bc it flowed upwards and not down, the room smelled horrible but so did the elevator, otherwise the 12 channels on tv offered no good shows, something bit me on my arm during my sleep. Checked the bed saw nothing but was enough to check out extra early when we had another engagement to go to , i was ready 🙃 period. We had to get ready for the day and ended up driving 2 hrs back home to get ready and then another 2 to get back in the area of cary .

I’ve worked in hospitality for the last 20 yrs. I received a 2 hour early check in for booking with Expedia. When we walked in at 1:00 pm the lobby smelled like a dirty bathroom and there was no one at the front desk. There was a sign saying the desk attendant was away assisting other guests. It took 3 minutes for her to come out. Check in is not until 3 so this is understandable. She had an inconvenienced attitude when asking what we needed. I said, I have a reservation and gave my name. She said check in wasn’t until 3:00 and I said I get an early one as an added amenity and had my phone open to the reservation details. She said something to the effect of “let me see your phone”’ so I showed her. She said oh yeah or something like that. The rest of check in was okay. We were given a first floor room at the end of the hall. There was an outside entrance with a door that slammed loudly, very often. The location was convenient but the noise was unfortunate and disturbing. This could have been the only room ready at our check in or it could have been retaliatory. The room had a off putting smell, like stale deodorizer, dark and drab with stained carpet and very “run down”. The bathroom floor and tub were dirty with hair and debris. The toilet was stained and there was no trash can. The queen bed was small, more like a full size mattress and the pillows were very small. The guest wifi never came up when searching for available networks, nor was the address written anywhere.

This is a very basic hotel but in a safe location. it was perfect just to crash for the night because I didn't need any frills. Front desk staff never were at the front desk and I had to speak up for them to come check me in or tell them I was checking out. I didn't want to come across as rude by yelling hello, but I didn't know what else to do.

My stay was good although I was given a room that was already occupied and walk in on the guest that was staying there. After returning to the front desk, I was assigned to another room which had no remote for the TV and had to return to the front desk to ask for one which did not work so I just went to bed and called it a night. I would stay again.

I came to the property with little to no expectations given the reviews written about this place. I also understood for the price, it might not be the best but my experience was way worse than what I was expecting. Initially, everything was fine, the front desk was nice and I got checked in quickly. Once I got to my room through, I noticed a few stains on the side table and kitchen area. It was a small problem so I decided not to let it bother me. However later that night when I returned to my room, I was in the bathroom washing my hands when I picked up my towel off the counter and a cockroach came out from under it. It was so gross and I immediately felt disgusted and did not want to touch anything. I was too tired to complain so I slept the night since I was leaving the next day anyway. Well, one thing after another I guess and in the morning I heard someone trying to open my door. It scared me for a bit but eventually the person left. I get a phone call in the next ten minutes from the front desk. Apparently I was in the wrong room and that I didn't have a reservation. I did not like the tone this person had with me. They were very accusatory as if I was the one who made a mistake. Excuse me but I just went to the room written on my key card. I did not just walk to a random room of my choosing and decide to stay there. I literally doubled checked the number on my key card and the number of the room. I think that was very unprofessional and rude. Do not recommend!!!!

I liked I could cook my dinners, it was clean, . Doing laundry was affordable . There was a day a front desk clerk was very rude. Manager excused her by saying she had called in sick a few days before. I told him if she didn't feel well, she shouldn't be working specially when your job requires to treat guests with courtesy. Manager said he was going to speak with her. Didn't see her again the rest of my stay.

The door into the hotel, from the parking lot, didn’t latch or lock, so anyone could get in.

Convenient and priced right.

Out of the way of busy traffic and very close to excellent restaurants.

Hotel is in the cut which i liked. Only ppl there were the ppl who were supposed to be there.

I never checked in. The front desk clerk was extremely rude and gave awful customer service. The hotel was super nasty and homeless people were everywhere. Did not feel safe staying there so I never checked in. Choose to stay at La Quinta Inn much nicer and cleaner.

Really good room for the price so an awesome deal. Not a sketchy area either.

I choose Mainstay Suites to stay because they advertised "BREAKFAST." Upon my arrival I asked the Front Desk Clerk where BREAKFAST is served, I was told they do not serve BREAKFAST. Mainstay owes me! They need to pay up for their false advertisement.. Very disappointed!!!!

It's fine. Neither bad nor good. I was very disappointed that we were not warned that they were not serving breakfast due to remodeling. It is being remodeled so things in the hallways are a mess. (There was a toilet sitting in the hallway.) Our room was fine.

We were ok with the room, although the floor was dirty, both the carpet and the laminate. We also would have appreciated having an ice machine available since there are no ice trays and the ice maker is not hooked up in the room refrigerator/freezer. We did enjoy the coffee, although it was not available all the time, only in the morning.
