La Quinta Inn and Suites by Wyndham at WaTiki Waterpark

The kids loved the waterpark and the staff were very friendly. The only thing we didnt realize is the waterpark doesn't open until 4pm on weekdays once summer is over so keep that in mind when coming for the waterpark once school is back in and have other plans to keep kids occupied.

It was a good family hotel. Staff was nice, rooms were clean. For our family the water oark was a bit crowded for our liking. However, if you want less crowds the morning seemed a very good time to go. We will go back and just adjust our timing for a morning waterpark adventure.

Parking was very limited.

This property does not have a pool. Yes there are a couple of them attached but it is about $30 per person to walk in the door. There is no alternative. Would have been nice to know before we arrived.

My elementary aged kids and I visited Black Hills, Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Keystone, and Hot Springs and loved having the WaTiki waterpark to enjoy in between all of our explorations. It's a great activity for an hour or two. Keep in mind provided towels are typically all gone by 8pm (closes at 9pm). It's nice and warm inside.

We really enjoyed staying here. Obviously, the water park is a great feature & must-do as a hotel guest. The in-house restaurant was also very convenient, as well as the free breakfast buffet during the mornings. Great experience & will stay here again on my next trip.

The ad said the property has a pool. It doesn't unless you pay for the waterpark. You will still be charged a resort fee even though the pool is not part of La Quinta and you have to pay a separate business to access it.

We stayed just for one night - but we were happy with the stay. I would love more luggage racks in rooms and exhaust fans in the bathrooms though. The water park was nice - not huge, but enough to keep busy for a few hours. With younger kids, you could spend much more time there.

The staff are nice, the breakfast was yummy. I didn't like that I had to buy two more waterpark bracelets when I thought you got in for free with your stay. They don't tell you, it is only 4 passes for free, the rest you pay for.

Pro's - convenient as a jump point for all black hills attractions. Has Bar & bar food, continental (bread, bread and more bread) breakfast, frig, mic & coffee maker. Bed was comfortable. Bath is good with hot water and pressure. Cons - be sure you are not placed on floor 1 or 2. Extremely loud people, jumping above you and down the hall, very loud kids above you, beside you, running up and down - nuts. Even the adults who were there not for the waterpark (saw a bunch of groups there for work details), were also super loud at very early hours. Parking lot full of green and tobacco smokers. Kids constantly left to get their own buffet breakfast who just wiped their snotty noses with their hands, dropped food and utensils on floor and then put them back, etc. It was surprising, and not. (And dont call me Karen, I have kids and had them with me, but what I saw over and over would make anyone comment). Water park - fun for kids. Not so much for adults. Extremely limited seating - or reserve a table for over $100 / day. Crazy. Large, hot tub was nice except for kids jumping and playing in it (not so great to relax). Would I stay again? Yes, but with better knowledge of what to expect I would make requests for high floor and know to expect total chaos for breakfast and water park time.

The rooms were clean, and the waterpark admission was an excellent addition!

However, come bed time and you could hear the kids and adults walking across the floor above us- which is annoying when you're trying to sleep. Unfortunately we also encountered bed bug bites the next morning. It was reported. Front desk staff was apologetic but offeredoffered nothing to assist the situation

We got bed bug bites all over us and front desk wasn't even interested in is telling them. Over charged on incidental charge. Had to contact them to get that back. It was awful

The Good: the staff were friendly and helpful when needed, the pool attraction was what brought us to this hotel for spring break and we had an absolute blast. A lot of good energy in there and very fun for a family vacation! The Bad: the rooms are not clean, we had to change several times as there were multiple stains on the bed sheets, upon taking a shower after getting back from the pool, there were black hairs (beard hair or worse..) all over the walls of the shower, pink mold in the corners of the shower and the shampoo sets they keep in the shower were dried with gross stuff coming down them and splattered to the wall. They have cards out stating who cleaned the room, who inspected them, and a QR code to leave a tip. We were really disappointed in the cleanliness of the bathroom and bedding.

Upon my arrival I checked in, the room had a terrible smell of pet urine, front desk person offered me a room spray to cover up the smell, then I was offered a different room, in a different room the shower surround was cracked by the bath fixture, I brought it to the attention of the front desk. The damp environment behind a cracked surround is an ideal breeding ground for mold and mildew, these fungi can produce spores that can cause health issues, particularly respiratory problems and allergic reactions. Another thing is the walls are “paper thin”, the hotel was very noisy.

Upon our arrival, the room looked nice and clean. However, as I was taking a deeper look the floor was covered in lots of straight whit and grey hair. Our bed had straight black hairs on the pillows. I feel so discussed. Thank goodness I travel with a little handheld vacuum. The next morning as I was doing my makeup at the bathroom sink there was a horrible smell coming out of the drain. I covered the drain with a washcloth to keep the smell from disturbing us. The shower water pressure was horrible the first night, I could barely rinse the soap off of my body. Maintenance did come to try to fix the water pressure. We were on the first floor so every morning at 6:30am we were awakened by people running through the hall and slamming doors. I have video of the horrible water pressure and the hair covered floors. It’s very safe to say that we will NOT be returning.

Everything was good. Except for the first day we stayed. Dirty rag in bathtub and long black hair. 2 nd stay no issues

Loved this hotel! We (my husband, kid and I)had so much fun at the water park, there is something for all ages here. Breakfast was great, and there was a ton of space for people to eat breakfast. They have 2 amazing people working the breakfast station, as one tends to keeping tables clean the other is making waffles. Rooms were so clean and smelled great. Everything was bright and welcoming! If and when we decide to go on vacation to SD again we will definitely remember La Quinta!

Room had an odor, left over toenail clippings on bathroom floor, dirty air vents, slow draining sink and tub. Very dated looking. Sheets and bed were clean. Did not abide by Expedia cancelation policy, said their policy overrides Expedia. I'll look elsewhere before I rent here again. If you have kids, it's probably an ok place to stay as the beds and sheets were clean.

Our room was not clean. There were pieces of dog food in a couple areas on the floor, the light switches have obviously never been cleaned they were disgusting. I killed about a dozen stink bug like bugs in during my stay, i think they were coming in thru the airconditioner but im not positive. Staff was friendly enough. Breakfast was good, the staff working Breakfast were great. They are the only ones I'd give 5 stars.

The ice machine was broke and sounded an alarm all night. Fixed in the AM but we could hear it. Nice

Pros- great hot breakfast, amazing water park, conveniently located very close to several fast food restaurants and a couple gas stations. Rooms are very spacious. Hotel restaurant is very reasonable for a food place attached to a water park hotel. Cons- parking can be difficult to find at night and we stayed during week days. Also the carpet must be very thin because it sounded like a herd of elephants above us. Every time they moved we could hear it like they were stomping. Very hard to sleep. Thankfully we only had to deal with those people one night.

We loved our stay and enjoyed the water park. The only problem we had was our couch in the suite was terrible flat and the cushions didn’t fit right. When pulling out the bed the springs in the mattress on the bottom were showing.

When I arrived at 10 PM was met with an 85 degree humid smelly room with a non working AC unit - the floor was wet and it smelled terrible. When I was finally moved to another room our toilet and sink would not drain and it was still just not a clean room. Would not recommend staying here. Not worth the money I spent.

Nice that it is connected to water park. Room was nice size. Shower was not great (low pressure) and no vent in bathroom so water steamed up the space (could see peeling of paint due to this). Overall good place for a few days with the family.

The room was large and comfortable. Unfortunately a little load due to some young adult neighbors. The worst part was the breakfast debacle- apparently staff didn’t show up so they sent all guest Nextdoor to the Fairfield. However they were not prepared for the extra people either and the employees working were very frustrated making it uncomfortable for everyone and there was not enough food. Then I ended up with an extra charge 24 hours after I checked out with no explanation yet(still working on that)

The room was good with a very nice large screen tv. The water park area is great. It is nice and clean with a friendly staff. The only downside that I had was the water pressure on the shower was very weak.

All staff were very friendly and efficient. Keith and Jane kept breakfast area stocked and cleaned (really impressed). Adjoining water park with admission during hotel stay was a big plus! Would definitely stay here again!

Check in was not good unless I went online to pay for early check in and amazing how rooms were available to check in after a long flight- the room keys didn't work every other day- they didn't clean your room unless you asked and then had to chase down towels. Overall not super satisfied

There’s a waterpark attached to this facility. When I inquired about it, they told me it was $50 a ticket a day however in actuality, you are allowed for free tickets per day because you’re staying at the property. I only knew this because other guest had for me. So basically I was almost charged an additional $200.

Evening front desk staff said to me that breakfast is from 6a-9:30 but when I went to get the complimentary continental hot breakfast the following day and I arrived there before 9:30am, it is closed already due to breakfast hours is only from 6a-9a. So that evening staff gave me a wrong info. Good thing the manager in the morning gave me free food & drink from their mini lobby store shop to make it up.

Staff was not very friendly. We had trouble multiple times with our room key and water park bracelets working. We asked to have our room cleaned 1 time in a 4 night stay and a note was left that it couldn't be cleaned. We had to go to the lobby to get toilet paper. The water park is nice and connected to the hotel. Seating is limited with other hotels allowed to use the water park also. There was washers and dryers available for use, which became very handy. You do have to use a credit card to pay for them.

No hot water in the room and the staff was rude and deceptive

We were looking for a central place to stay while we toured the Black Hills, Custer Park, Deadwood, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Sturgis, etc. This worked out perfectly. Room was clean - easy check-in. Breakfast provided each morning with many options. The venue "turned into" a small restaurant after breakfast that had many snacky type items on the menu - also a bar available for adult drinks. The property is located adjacent to a water park - we didn't partake but there were many families enjoying the fun. The LaQuinta is located close to Perkins as well - a very short walk for dinner or an afterdinner dessert. Parking lot spacious and easy to access - seemed safe too. We'd stay again.

Great location in South Dakota. Easily accessible pool and water park. Arcade was great also! Close to Mount Rushmore and if you’re chasing all 50 states you can get to Wyoming and Montana from there within an hour! Overall amazing place!

Easy to book room online. Convenient location to both the interstate & shopping/restaurants. Parking lot is well lit at night; feel safe. Clean room & there is plenty of snacks/drinks available to buy in the lobby. Definitely would book again!!!

The waterpark was perfect for allowing the kids to roam while parents relaxed. Small enough to keep an eye on them, friendly for all ages. Great water slides. The hotel was CLEAN and welcoming. Close to the freeway. Central location approx 30 to 40 minutes from everything. We were ar Mt Rushmore one day, Custer State park the next, and Deadwood another.

Great location in Rapid City close to lots of shopping and restaurants. Loved the waterpark! Room was very clean and comfortable.

The location was convenient as it was close to the highway and shopping malls.

Very clean & conveniently located near I-90. Only downside is there aren’t many restaurant options within walking distance, but that’s okay!

The couple running the breakfast was amazing! So friendly and served everyone well. The water park was a highlight for the kids, but it’s only open 4-9pm daily. There is no other pool to use and the hotel only gives four entries per room. If you need more than that, it’s $60 per person.

Gentlemen doing waffles and ladie cleaning tables , restock meals at breakfast was extremely nice , polite and very helpful. Even with a lot of people they kept place so clean and easy to get all food with smile on the face. They worked 08/26 - 08/28.

The water pressure was very low and on the last day breakfast wasn’t available. You had to walk to a nearby hotel for the free breakfast.

Two people that made the breakfast were great. They even made waffles for you.

Location was great, bar and restaurant attached to the hotel were way overpriced for what you got.

The place is dated. AC was strong, beds were a little soft and the pull out bed looked like it was ready for the garbage. Breakfast was ok with waffle maker but the eggs were not good at all. Coffee is served all day which is nice. Lots of kids running around wet from the Watiki water park. The water park is GREAT lots of fun things to do there exciting rides with great staff there to make sure everyone is safe. Glad we could go anytime day or night also included in the price of the room.

It was good food! Just wish there was a little more of a meat variety! The service was great! We had someone making the waffles and it was nice to not have to wait on them! And they were so good about being on top of cleaning the tables off!
