Isla Grand Beach Resort

Had a great staycation here the last week of July! If you’re looking for a chill beach getaway, this is your place. Pros: beach access very convenient Chair and umbrella rentals available with attendant present, Junior, very nice and super helpful Pasta buffet dinner was great - pasta dish made to order Live entertainment each night at bar/grill and at restaurant Cons: rooms are a bit dated Parking near building was limited but plenty far away Online stated only one vehicle allowed yet front desk isn’t worried about which vehicle is yours. We made accommodations and went out of our way to only bring one vehicle, so this was a pain. Pools, although nice, were crowded and can’t accommodate when at full capacity Line to rent actual chairs took about 30 mins due to only one person so go early

The property is quite nice with various activities within the property grounds. Having 2 pools was especially nice since the younger kids were in one and adults in another. There is a convenient on site store, restaurants, clubs, game room, tennis courts and of course the beach.

Nice pool area with hot tubs. Easy access to beach. Too windy for pickleball when we were there, but nice courts.

Only problem there are no elevators

The property was great loved the access to the beach and the swimming pools. This resort had a live band at night. There were also poolside games with music and waiter's walking around ready to take food and drink orders. The only downside is there was an awful smell at the resort the food was average nothing special and one of the front desk clerks was not as friendly as the others.

We enjoyed our stay at the Isla Grand. It was a beautiful location. We loved the pools, tennis courts, and volleyball courts. They had all the beach amenities (boogie boards & umbrella/chair, etc) rentals. They had a little hut where they made burgers, chicken strips, hot dogs, etc for convenient meals. They have a restaurant that overlooks the pools and also the ocean (from a distance). We were able to see Fireworks from the restaurant one evening. They have bands nightly. They have a comedian on Thursday nights. Overall, we loved it there. The only downside was that they had vending machines and ice machines that Didn’t work, So we had to go to a convenience store to get waters/gatorades/snacks. Otherwise, I would recommend the Isla Grand for a beautiful beach experience.

Property needs a bit of remodeling or updating a few things. for example the Ice machines had mold. The air filter in the room needed to be replaced. It had dust like it hasn’t been replaced in a long time.

Loved it definitely a romantic getaway loved that everything was there from a amazing relaxing poolside n bar to wine n dine restaurant then hit a night live club all at the hotel we are definitely gonna make this our spot

The ONLY thing that there might be to complain about, is that they need someone to come in and do a little TLC. Everything else was great though. Ended up eating at Windjammers 3 nights in a row because the food was so good! Beach is incredible, I think it’s bs that you have to pay so much for chairs and umbrella at the beach. $50 nearly? Why? Am I not spending enough already? That’s my only complaint.

We did enjoy the hotel. We felt that the dining options were overpriced and the actual food was not up to standards. We did enjoy the pool and the access to the beach. Also with required report fee required it seems that the chairs and umbrellas on the beach should be included and not an additional charge. We would go back there again.

The first thing was that the room smells weird, the carpets are so old and look dirty and we find a cockroach. Then the neighbors were playing loud music all night and they were very loud . We ask the receptionist to move us to another room the following day but the hotel was full. That night we went to the hotel restaurant and the hostess had no client service at all, they didn’t pay attention to us and we decided to leave and go to an outside restaurant. The hotel has potential I don’t know why they don’t invest in remodeling the place having a beautiful beach and great views.

The outside areas like the pools, Bars and restaurant were really nice, clean. However the room was not worth what we paid at all, The carpet was extremely dirty and had a horrible smell when you walk in as well as the couch. We also had to kill a few roaches which of course is unpleasant

I did not like the room. Beds very uncomfortable, dirty carpet.

Woke up in the morning to a dead cockroach in the room. Understand maybe be common bc of the area, but still unpleasant

Soon as got into room and used the bathroom I saw a roach walking on bathroom floor. Then laid down on bed and then saw a darkish red/maroon colored stain on comforter which looked like dried blood. Carpet was nasty and dirty looking...other than that...view of ocean was nice, pools, bar/club and dock leading to beach. I8

The room was clean but the smell of desinfectant was a bit too much.

We took our one year old . Room was infested of cockroaches started coming out after the first night .

The room was very clean and didn’t have a humid smell. The property was well maintained and their beach access was great for a day at the beach. Our bed was so comfortable. Honestly one of the best nights I’ve ever had staying at the island.

The pool area was awesome, we enjoyed the hot tubs. The room was clean, but we had roaches coming out. Our room was a king bed garden/pool view, we had neither pool or garden view. I expected to get a better room since we got there early about 4:30 pm. Check in was 4pm.

We stayed in the cabanas where there was no elevator access and entry/steps/ walking area was dirty . Room had a funny smell and balcony was dirty. The pictures online are very misleading. Pool was dirty Saturday and we were there starting at 10am. Hot tubs were filthy and Luke warm. Also no lifeguard on duty for a very busy pool ! Front staff was very nice at check in and check out . The girl who worked at the coffee shop was not nice. She didn’t smile and just seemed like she didn’t want to make coffee orders. Over priced !

The only thing we didn't like was that you could hear everyone around you through the walls. The walls are very thin

Room was smaller than expected and the beach view they promise you is not the greatest also we found a roach in our room and the restroom was quite small and you can hear everything the room next to you is saying and doing for the price of the room it was not worth it for me.

Bed was comfortable. We did not like that the door opened to the outside air hallway and there was not an elevator for the motel rooms. I prefer an enclosed hallway that is INSIDE the building. Only the condos have these which are over $600 a night. This is a motel not a hotel. We were put in an adjoining room. We could hear everything the neighbors talked about and using the restroom. Their light would shine under the adjoining door at night and in the morning which woke us up. They did not yell and they were not loud neighbors, it was just a poor setup and we felt like we didn’t have privacy since they could probably hear everything that was said in our room also. No elevator was an issue since it stormed and we had to checkout of our room before 11:00. My husband was soaked after loading everything into the car. The only covered area is by the lobby and we could not get to that area from our room without going Outland using the stairs. This place is false advertising to me. We were not happy but Expedia DID get us a refund that was more than half of our bill which was very nice. Next time that we are in south padre I will stay at the Marriott or margaritaville.

Everything was great we just had a leak in our roof but maintaince was fast and got it fixed . No microwave in our room 😔

my check in time was at 4 and they didn’t have a room available till after 6 😒 also the i reserved was with ocean view and the i got don’t have any ocean view THIS WAS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME AT THIS HOTEL AND DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND IT I HAD A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE

The property is nice. It is apparent it is an older building. We had a 2 bedroom condo and the wear can be seen.

We decided to stay here because they have the best bands on the weekends and we like to dance . Our room was clean and we had a partial view of the water. The bed was comfortable. We were in a room with 2 queen beds. There was a table with 1 chair. There was a desk but no chair. The room was big enough to have more chairs since the room could sleep 4 people. Disappointing since it was hard to use our laptops sitting on the edge of the bed. The bathroom was clean but you can tell the tub was old. There were small cracks around the drain and stains that are unable to be removed from the bottom of the tub no matter how much you clean. Those are small complaints but it doesn't mean we wouldn't stay there again. We did have to walk outside to get to the main part of the hotel.

Room was very nice and clean. My only problem was I heard my neighbor next door snoring. Those walls are pretty thin.

Right on the beach. Nice pool. All of the rooms are extremely outdated and in need of an update! “2 bedroom condo” isn’t really 2 bedrooms. Overall disappointed.

It was fun and the rooms were nice but a little run down.

Made us wait more than two hours for our room to be ready, when check in was supposed to be at 4. Was told I was going to get partial refund and refunded resort fees and hasn’t happened

I would recommend booking ANYWHERE else. We had too many issues with our stay. When we arrived well past the check-in time of 4pm, we were told our room wasn’t ready. We had to wait until 8PM before we could check into our room. When I complained to the staff, they just shrugged their shoulders. The lobby was full of other people that had to wait for their rooms too. How embarrassing. They gave us some breakfast vouchers to make up for it. But the breakfast buffet was trash so not worth it. Housekeeping only serviced our room 1 time during our 4 night stay. They only serviced it because we had to call and complain. On the morning of our check out day, our keys were automatically deactivated before the actual check out time of 11am. The customer service is horrible. Front desk and Windjammer employees especially. Most are young adults that couldn’t care less about their customers. The property is super outdated and in need of major upgrades. The Windjammer decor is straight out of the 1990s and the 2nd floor bar and deck are in terrible shape. The parking lot needs to be resurfaced and painted. The ice machine near our room was out of service too.

Due to delay in room..They made it up n was upgraded to better room. Beautiful view n experience. Manager n staff at hotel were very helpful n made my stay amazing. A definite A+ an will come back...Thank you! 😊

I love the location and the amenities at the hotel. Sadly, I’m really disappointed. some of the staff are bad apple and ruin the experience and $1,700 I spent for two days. The game room is advertised as open until 4 am at 10:30 pm the lady at the front desk told us, I’m not issuing any game room stuff (billiards balls and sticks, ping pong paddles, etc) because I don’t feel like it. The pool closes at 11 pm, while sitting in the hot tub with 8 other guests a security guard cone around and starts yelling at us, Get out of here now! While swinging his arms wildly. This was the first time he asked us and it just turned 11 pm. All of the guests in the hot tub agreed it was really rude and inappropriate of him. We all got up and left disappointed. If management reads this please work with your staff to treat guests with respect and ensure services we pay for are available during the times promised.

Property is nice. Only problem was check in. It was at 4pm we got there at 5:45pm and they said they didn’t have any rooms ready. 6/7 pass and nothing till my husband went to complain around 8pm for a room they finally gave us one. They Do Not compensate you any money back for the time you have to be waiting for a room! Def won’t ever stay here again!!

Check in was at 4. We arrived at 4:30 and they did not have the room available so we waited 2 hours and they still did not have it. They could never tell us at what time they were going to have it so we decided to get a refund and look for a different hotel.

The staff was all wonderful, the service was all top notch!

The Resort over all was a nice with good location services available. Staff was good especially cleaning staff, very professional and polite. There were two specific details that I was not impressed with. Main one was check in, I was not impressed with and did get much help. It was my first time there; I walk in the the lady checking me in, needs to take class in customer service. She didn’t not greet me with smile, continued to check me in and just have me a paper with a map of the facility and two lines of highlight to show me to my room. I asked for a cart for my luggage and all I got was there is non right now. I walked to my car still was not sure what location from the parking to go through. I went back inside to ask her; “was parking any where?” And I still wasn’t sure how to get to my room from the outside. Was it easier to go through the lobby or the outside. All she answered was the outside. Once we finally dragged all our luggage by hand we got to our room and found a theirs was to our room from the parking lot that was quicker and easier. The second was the one bes was worn out. The bed would dip down at the head of the bed. With me first time at this resort, my expectation for customers service front desk was not met as below average.

The water when showering smells really bad. The service was lousy doing check-in. I had to wait almost 2 hours before I was able to get into my room. Check in with the four I didn’t get in my room until 10 minutes until 10 minutes till 6 PM. I will never stay at that resort again, and I will tell others not to as well.

I liked the convenience of places inside the hotel to go to and not to mention the close proximity of the beach and the pool is really great. It held having a walkway to the beach so you can burn your feet. That was awesome.

Loved the location and the staff! Easy beach access, we didn’t leave the resort hardly at all!

This is my second time coming here I just love it. Beautiful pool and you can walk to the ocean. Plenty of things to do here there's a restaurant a bar with live music and shops. You can be lazy and not go anywhere else.

Parking was super easy

This stay was perfect. Convenient to the water, food, entertainment, etc. Definitely worth the stay.

Isla grand is so nice! I loved being on the first floor and walking out to the tennis court, pool or beach! I love using the game room and their pool bar. Theh have the best pina coladas! The staff is so friendly and accommodating! I love the resort feel as it makes it much more vacation vibe and relaxing

Great location, excellent beach access and amazing breakfast buffet

Excellent place to get away a couple of days. One thing that I commented at the front desk was about cleaning service since I found a loose fishing hook on the carpet. I have a 6 year old who’s all over the place and could have got injured. Besides that the rooms are good, pool great, the bar with live music, game room great.

We stayed for a week and thought the property was very nice and clean The pics online do represent what the hotel truly looks like. We stayed in room 216 which is part of the original property. The room was very nice and updated, the exterior could use some remodeling to represent the interior updates. We ate at the Windjammer restaurant onsite quite a few times and both felt the meals were delicious. The only meal I had to send back was the Shrimp Mac & Cheese. Not worth the charge and the mac was watery and the shrimp was overcooked. That being said everything else was delish. The bar drinks were also very good but highly overpriced. The exterior bar by the pools was also ridiculously expensive. 1 can of beer was $7.50...that kept us from sitting at the bar and enjoying drinks because wasteful spending depletes the joy for us. We did enjoy the close proximity to the beach but were disappointed that every beach chair or umbrella had to be rented instead of just being a part of the amenities of staying at the hotel. We travel yearly to Negril, Jamaica and I can say that dollar for dollar we can go spend 2 weeks in Negril for what we paid for 1 week in South Padre. We liked the stay as they were all very friendly and helpful. The inflated prices sadly kept us from being able to sit and enjoy the bars and therefore tip the staff for their services.

Hotel was great, restaurant was terrible! Terrible service even though there were only two groups of people in the entire restaurant. This was around 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 29th.

For the most part it was nice. Some of the staff was not very nice or friendly. We stayed 3 nights and our room was never cleaned and never got towels. When we asked for a later check out they insisted the room needed to be cleaned haha! Some of the staff was nice to us others were rude. I will say our bed was super comfortable. The pool and beach access was great. Jacuzzi jets news to be fixed. The seafood in the restaurant was the best out of all the places we ate on the island. Breakfast was a miss but we do suggest the mussels, peel and eat shrimp, and the oysters.

The Good: The outdoor amenities were fantastic—great pool, well-maintained tennis courts, and plenty of pet-friendly spaces, which made it a great spot for travelers with pets. The halfdeck bar bartender was extremely friendly and welcoming, making the experience much more enjoyable. The breakfast buffet had a good variety, and the food was fresh and well-prepared. The Not-So-Good: If you’re looking for a peaceful stay, avoid Room 201 at all costs! It's right next to the bar, which has live music blasting until 2 AM—definitely not ideal for rest. The room itself was disappointing—dim lighting and a carpet with noticeable stains, which made it feel less clean and inviting. The bartender at the Quarterdeck Lounge bar was quite rude, which was a sharp contrast to the great service at the halfdeck bar. At breakfast, be prepared for omelet station chaos—if you don’t tip the chef upfront, expect people to cut in front of you without consequence. Overall, the resort has great potential, but a few key service and maintenance issues impacted my stay. Would I return? Possibly, but definitely not in Room 201!
