I cannot say enough GREAT things about the Sonesta ES Suites! We stayed for 2 nights since our Mom had outpatient surgery at the UVA Medical Center. The entire staff was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a lot of downtime so we hung out by the pool area, enjoyed the morning breakfast (good coffee and lots of great food choices) and really liked the close proximity to restaurants, stores and the athletic field with a jogging/walking track behind the hotel. We stayed in the Superior 2 Bedroom Suite and it was perfect. The kitchen and living room area had everything you needed including an oven, microwave, full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a Keurig machine with utensils and dishes and even a gas fireplace. Really thoughtful amenities. There is one elevator centrally located and stairs are right there and well lit with easy access. We didn't have time but there were cornhole boards, basketballs, and other items you could borrow to use in the court by the pool as well as plenty of tables and chairs around the pool, some with umbrellas. Again, the staff was the BEST - the front desk, the breakfast attendant, employees we passed in the hall, etc. They really made our stay! This is definitely our GO TO place in Charlottesville. Thank you again for a great stay!

Spacious, comfortable room. Clean and well chlorinated outdoor pool with towels. Had badminton and basketball court on site (and cornhole equipment). Unique and quality items on breakfast bar. Friendly and customer service oriented staff. Small workout room however had free weights, treadmills and filtered water. Certainly will stay here again.

Quiet area with convenient access to downtown Charlottesville and surrounding areas. Excellent location for those travelling with a dog (clean pet area in back of hotel and walking areas in adjacent UVA campus). Disappointed that the gym was not available. Also, some staff was friendly, but others weren't as pleasant as I would expect of those in the hospitality industry. For example, the employee at check in was involved in a conversation with a co worker about personal matters while checking me in. Not the most welcoming check in I've experienced.

Overall a good stay, perfect location for seeing a show at UVA. Elevator was out of order, would have been nice to know before check-in. TV in our room wouldn’t connect to channels or turn off. Would press power, it would go dark, then cut back on in 2 minutes.

I was disappointed by our stay. The walls were very thin--we could hear the person next door snoring and every toilet flush from the people above us. The staff was nice, but when I called to say there were no sheets for the pull-out bed they told me I could come down and get some if I wanted--it was late and we were ready for bed, so I got dressed to go down--to find sheets and pillows left there, no people around. The halls were dark and not clean--other patrons were throwing trash in the hallway and it stayed there. We walked over the same apple core 3 times. I would not stay here again

I was pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite. Unfortunately, the bathroom was dirty. There was hair on bathtub and on vanity . Worse part was that there was dried urine on the bottom of the toilet. I was there only one night. Breakfast was nice . Would not stay there again.

I really loved that the bedding and linens were so white and clean. The only reasons I didn’t give it an excellent rating is there was mold or dirt in the corner of the outside of the tub. Some deep cleaning is needed.

Clean and comfortable room. Soap and shampoo containers were filled properly. Climate control was a little tricky at first, but I figured it out. Wish the shower was a little cleaner. Breakfast was meh, but it was free and the coffee was good. Great friendly staff.

The bathroom had hair on the floor in some very obvious places as if the cleaning was not complete. The shower didn't appear to be be well-cleaned either. The unit didnt have trashcans in every room, and the furniture had not been dusted in quite some time. In addition, the furniture could have used some vacuuming as well. There was lint and hair in obvious places which tells me that no attention was given to the sofas.

I enjoyed my stay the staff were very friendly and check in/check out was quick and easy. It is very close to UVA so I'd recommend staying here if you want to visit the school. It was fairly close to downtown and there are a couple of shopping centers nearby. The wifi was not good and those who had trash but did not want their rooms clean would put the trash outside the door however housekeeping would never take the trash so it would be sitting for days.

The manager on Sunday was amazing, but the woman at the desk when we checked in was rude and had an attitude. The grounds were well kept and breakfast was good. The room was not clean, the bed skirt had stains and was ripped. There was trash still in the trash can in the room and crumbs on the floor. Luckily the bed itself was clean. When we discussed with the manager the next day she apologized for the associates behavior the evening before and room, then offered to make it right. Later in the week a random $5.27 charge shows on our credit card. Calling to inquire once again it was the rude associate that said it’s a parking fee that was never disclosed to us. I said thanks for mentioning that when we checked in because you were never so helpful and she indicated it was on a check in sheet that i don’t remember seeing at all, but of course didn’t keep a copy of. Also, our reservation didn’t indicate paid parking.

Our room was awesome. It was one of the 2 bedroom suites. The room included everything we needed and the beds were super comfortable. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was better than we expected. Will look for this chain on future overnights!

We had no hot water in the room, and the pull-out couch mattress was disgusting. It had many crumbs and had not been cleaned in months. It was also basically one big stain. I showed the manager on duty and they told me they would take care of my room and I have not been able to get in touch with them since. Would never return

Nice place generally to stay. Walls are thin I was next to a loud family in a different room. They simply wouldn’t quiet down so the nice staff moved my room to another room on the property which was quiet.

Original room had wet carpet from air conditioning leak or condensation, not sure how it was deemed ok to put someone in. Front desk found other room quickly and moved us once I called them about the condition. Next room didn’t have all necessary linens for pullout couch and That mattress had a fitted sheet on it already, perhaps from previous occupant?

I arrived at the hotel at 5:10pm with my family, an hour and ten minutes after check in and our room was still not ready. I was told by the manager the room would be ready in ten minutes but we had to wait 30 minutes. When I mentioned this to the lady at check in she said this was normal and I was like I only had to wait 30 minutes. I attempted to bring this experience to your customer service number and she woman who answered accused me of wanting something. I thought this was very rude. I told her I wanted to bring this to your attention so that you can improve your service, that if this was normal Thani would share my experience with other guests who had unrealistic expectations, that you should have a wait 30 minutes for a room after checking in an hour and ten minutes after check in. Also think you should have more empathetic employees too.

The manager graciously assisted in correcting errors in my reservation through Hotels.com. The room I landed with was a beautiful 2 bedroom full suite with a well appointed kitchen and 2 bedrooms. For the price, it was pure luxury when attending a conference and room sharing. The breakfasts offered in the morning were hot, fresh and delicious, not your usual stale reworked pastry and fruit offerings. I will absolutely refer friends and family to this hotel. The staff was accommodating and kind. Not everyone has forgotten the value of excellent customer service!

Front desk lady wouldn't open the door to check in for some time. Started questioning us to through the door. it was late and cold out. Did the absolute MOST unnecessary things during the long drawn out process. Not a very warm welcome. The room was fine. Enjoyed the breakfast. Wish there was multiple elevators. Overall Clean and Safe.

Front desk people were awesome! We need to take our son for urgent care and they were so helpful telling us where the closest one was what drugstore to use and even asked Adam how he was doing when we got back. The person who helps out with the Cook breakfast? He was great. Make sure we had everything. He was the most polite everyone was made our stay just perfect.

Without notice staff entered our suite. We knew because we heard staff in the hall mention our room. I asked them what was going on and they said they were replacing pullout mattresses. I went and told the desk that I didn’t want staff to go in. Our items were all over the suite. Her blunt response was “not an option”. I said it was intrusive and repeated no one should enter. She half laughed and said “Not a choice”. I repeated my issue to the manager at checkout. She said that she had been off but that we “should have got a notice” and there “should have been a sign on the desk”. She looked around the desk and could not find one. She offered a half apology and said she was going to be talking to her staff.

The manager on Sunday was amazing, but the woman at the desk when we checked in was rude and had an attitude. The grounds were well kept and breakfast was good. The room was not clean, the bed skirt had stains and was ripped. There was trash still in the trash can in the room and crumbs on the floor. Luckily the bed itself was clean. When we discussed with the manager the next day she apologized for the associates behavior the evening before and room, then offered to make it right. Later in the week a random $5.27 charge shows on our credit card. Calling to inquire once again it was the rude associate that said it’s a parking fee that was never disclosed to us. I said thanks for mentioning that when we checked in because you were never so helpful and she indicated it was on a check in sheet that i don’t remember seeing at all, but of course didn’t keep a copy of. Also, our reservation didn’t indicate paid parking.

Had an amazing time staying at the property. The room was incredibly spacious and had everything you could possibly need. The location is amazing since it is right behind the barracks shopping center and the walk was very easy. Would absolutely stay here again!

I cannot say enough GREAT things about the Sonesta ES Suites! We stayed for 2 nights since our Mom had outpatient surgery at the UVA Medical Center. The entire staff was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a lot of downtime so we hung out by the pool area, enjoyed the morning breakfast (good coffee and lots of great food choices) and really liked the close proximity to restaurants, stores and the athletic field with a jogging/walking track behind the hotel. We stayed in the Superior 2 Bedroom Suite and it was perfect. The kitchen and living room area had everything you needed including an oven, microwave, full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a Keurig machine with utensils and dishes and even a gas fireplace. Really thoughtful amenities. There is one elevator centrally located and stairs are right there and well lit with easy access. We didn't have time but there were cornhole boards, basketballs, and other items you could borrow to use in the court by the pool as well as plenty of tables and chairs around the pool, some with umbrellas. Again, the staff was the BEST - the front desk, the breakfast attendant, employees we passed in the hall, etc. They really made our stay! This is definitely our GO TO place in Charlottesville. Thank you again for a great stay!

The hotel facilities were acceptable. But 2 gripes: 1. No breakfast was offered on 1 of 2 mornings “due to staffing issues”. I am sympathetic, but believe a partial refund of, say, $10.00 per guest when breakfast is not provided as promised. 2. The hotel charges a $5.00 fee for parking. This is not a city hotel; it is a typical motel. Chincy…just charge $5 more as a room fee!

My suite was clean, the kitchen area was stocked with all the things you may need to cook a meal in the suite. Their breakfast had a good variety of food (I wish that it was open until 10:30, they close at 9:00 am). The staff were amazing! Everyone was super friendly, polite, and very efficient.
