Super 8 by Wyndham Charlottesville

Room was good, AC/Heater combo worked great. Staff was nice. The only bad thing was that the vending machine was empty when I went to go get something to drink. (There was only 1 vending machine on the property and it was a drink one.) I asked the guy at the desk if there was another on the property and he offered to get me some tap water. I declined as I could get that in my room. The desk clerk int he morning was nice when my key stopped working as I was taking my belongings out to my car. It had to be rekeyed so I could get in my room to get the final belongings I had in there.

The heating was excellent. parking was excellent.

Easy access, plenty of parking.

1. People just hanging out in the parking late at night. 2. The desk attendant was more worried about his TV then checking me in. Also I could barely understand him, broken English. 3. Room was 85 degrees when I first entered the room, AC unit was off and the blinds were open. Took the AC unit 1 hour and half to get room down into the 70s. 4. Pest trap found on the entertainment stand. 5. Only one ice machine and vendor machine in the hotel. Vendor machine broken or empty. If it wouldn't have been so late we would have found a different place to stay the night

Rooms were nice enough and very clean; staff is nice; there is no lobby and the reception area would embarrass a homeless shelter; the parking lot is poorly maintained with hidden bolts and concrete that will absolutely damager your car’s bumpers or undercarriage.

We stayed for one night. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and nice. The parking lot was also very lit up at night for security and they had security cameras all over the building the actually seemed to monitor. All that though probably isn’t even necessary as the surrounding area isn’t sketchy looking. It was great for $100.

All was pretty good except very little continental breakfast. They had Poptarts with NO Toaster. The Biggest issue was the Ice Machine! It had Black Specs in the Ice We Suspect was Mold of some sort. Needs to be Cleaned.

Elevator made things easy coming in and packing up but no laundry on site was a little disappointing as we had things we needed to wash.

Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. The room was clean, odor-free, and very spacious. The staff was attentive and quickly provided me with a new key after I accidentally locked mine in the room. The parking lot was well lit, and I felt safe throughout my stay. Excellent value for the price!

Excellent hotel. Extraordinarily clean & quiet, friendly staff at check in. Comfortable bed and large room. Centrally located to city and entertainment. Would consider staying there again.

Lovely and clean

Roaches in room.

The room was humid and had a smell. Some hairs were found on towels, bedding and in the shower. Somewhat noisy due to other guests in the hallway and not very sound proof doors.

We arrived at the property and everything felt normal. The hotel was remodeled and looked nothing like the old Motel 8’s. We loved the price, that was the main reason we chose this location over others. However, as we were winding down for bed, I noticed a cockroach crawling on the wall. We live in Miami, so roaches here and there are common, although I’ve never encountered any in stays a hotels in Florida. So after the first incident, I figured we would be ok. However, as I was brushing my teeth and my son was passed out on one bed and my wife in our bed, 3 roaches ran around the sink. I wasn’t able to kill those. A couple minutes later, my wife saw 2 more roaches running up the wall and filmed them, along with two more roaches on the dresser. The final straw was the roach that climbed into my son’s bed as he was sleeping. I tried killing it, but it fell onto the floor. I spoke with the person on duty, and they said they would move us to another room. This is 2 in the morning btw. So we packed up everything, woke up our son, and went up to the 3rd floor. We didn’t sleep well at all. We were concerned that the ingestion downstairs was throughout the entire Hotel. We decided to book another hotel. We spoke with someone at Hotels.com and the best they could do was charge us for that night and not for the “cancellation fee”. Which, the only reason we were cancelling was due to the cockroach infestation. So we basically were charged for a night of roaches, and no sleep.

Starting from the hallway and the "back entrance" it smelled like insect repellent. Then, the room stank of humidity, lard and body odor. It was hard to sleep there without thinking of bedbugs and germs. The sheets were white, but everthing in general had a horrible dirty odor. I tried to stay calm, as I was going to my sister's funeral and didn't have the energy, but when my brother arrived he was also disgusted by the "RAID" and lard smell. I cannot believe that this hotel is still in business. Then I went to get coffee and that little "stand" was also dirty and out of cups. I usually don't write reviews, but when confronted with this filth, I have to. All in all, disgusting. We couldn't wait to get out of there. Just got home and put all my stuff (suitcase, clothes, chargers and anything that touched that room) in a bathroom with Lysol and the clothes in hot water. I still can't believe it! I've stayed in Super 8 before and never this bad. Oh, and not to mention that when I was checking in, the recepcionist or owner was video chatting on the phone the whole time. Horrible experience. Would NOT RECOMMEND at all. Not even for free! Dingy to say the least. I should get my money back for going through that nightmare. Gross and questionable area.

The hotel is so close to the theater where the Virginia Film Festival is taking place. Also, only 3 miles away from the Tapawingo movie pre-party. It was just the perfect place to stay. The man at the front desk was so so nice and accommodating. Very sweet and congenial. I was also pleasantly surprised at the photos of the room, actually look like the room. My room is spotless, the beds were tightly made and super clean, the bathroom is spotless, too. I am a germ Afobe, so I should know. I’ve been traveling a lot in the last 10 years, and I’m disappointed every single time. This is the first time in 10 years that I have not been disappointed or grossed-out by filth & mold or felt threatened by my surroundings . No kidding. It was very nice.

The motel has been renovated. Everything seemed new and easy to use -- everything except the internet. Checking email went slowly. Watching Netflix was impossible.

Lots of drag racing all night long, coupled with a very noisy a/c unit and thin walls made sleep very difficult

I have stayed at this hotel more than 20 nights in the past year and after a good bit of searching, I think it is the best budget hotel in the Charlottesville area. The rooms -- clean and well-maintained, quality bedding, nice TVs bigger than at many other hotels. Location -- one of the best in the city, near where Route 29 intersects Route 250. Amenities -- reliable Wifi that works equally well no matter where in the hotel you are located, grab and go breakfast of pop tarts, granola bars, and apples. I would stay in this hotel rather than the three star hotels even if the price were the same.

It was a very good value for what we paid. It is very close to the downtown core, as well as the university campus, which is where we saw a concert and was the reason behind staying at this hotel. The hotel itself was good for our one night stay. It didn’t have anything spectacular but was priced well and located on a great spot. The bed wasn’t super comfortable but was fine for one night. The wall unit AC was very loud but also did a fantastic job at cooling the room. The pillows were very small and thin, which may just be a preference thing for us. It served its purpose well.

Everything was fine we were on a lower level and the noise from the room above us was a little loud

We only needed a place to crash one night for a concert. This was perfect. Nice area, clean, front desk was very nice. Don’t be fooled by the outside, it is an holder building but rooms are updated. Room was small so more than 2 people would be tight. We will stay here again for concerts and games.

Strange room with barely any furniture. There was no place to put our luggage. No luggage rack, no dresser, no bench.

Newly renovated rooms with an old window AC unit that turns on every two minutes and stays on for 30 seconds. It made it very difficult to have a goodnight sleep. Furthermore our room only had Business Cox which didn't include the major networks like ABC, CBS, .... Very disappointed.

It would have been nice to have an ice machine on the floor instead of having to go down to the first floor. We were only there for one night, but had it been any longer the room would not have been comfortable. I realize the room is small and space is limited, but it would have been nice to have a chair besides the desk chair. I hate when there is nowhere to sit except the bed. On a positive note, I was impressed with the cleanliness. The bed was comfortable. What little interaction I had with the staff was good. They were very pleasant. I love the usb ports in all the light fixtures. That is very handy. Overall, I give them 5 stars.

As far as Super 8's go...this one is pretty good. Comfy beds, good size TV, hospitable staff...really have no complaints. Super gr8.

We had to cancel when we got there as they do not take service dogs.

Front desk clerk was racist and very rude upon myself returning the lobby as she was reluctant to to honor my reservation as I was only was asking her simple questions that she felt that she wasn’t entitled to answer. As I’m a military veteran that has been well traveled and have never experienced such as this.

The staff was extremely helpful and kind the rooms were spotless!

Staff at check in was curteous and professional. He smiled and seemed to enjoy talking to me. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. No noise heard from the hall or adjoining rooms. I had a wonderful stay

Breakfast was juice and a granola bar. I had the do not disturb sign up and at 8am someone came into my room and flipped the light on without knocking or apologizing. Then around 9am someone was banging on my door and check out was 11. Around 10am someone was vacuuming the hall and whistling.

They cancelled my reservation and then told me the rate had increased that day. I had to book cause my daughter was already staying there. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. The property itself was clean, but limited on trash receptacles outside and the smell of cigarette smoke entered our room through the a/c unit making our room stink!

The security lighting outside is phenomenal without being intrusive inside your room. This hotel is off the main road and would be in kind of a vulnerable location, but the lighting would make it difficult for anyone to lurk about outside.

Stayed here for 8 nights. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately the location isn't ideal as I was approached by multiple drug users. Wouldn't recommend going outside alone after dark.

Of all the mid-range hotel options in the area for one overnight stay, Super 8 was by far the best choice. I checked reviews of other chains and none of them compared regarding cleanliness which is my top priority. Super 8 has been updated recently and our room was very comfortable and clean. The central location was also a plus and the price was less than major chains in the area by far.

In town for UVA medical center. This place was close and convenient to the hospital. Clean modern room at an affordable price. Will stay again if needed.

Used by a lot of transient workers. Lobby shut off for protection of staff which was a red flag. Overall the room was clean, quiet inside but a lot of noise in the hallway and outside. Earplugs and added personal protection is recommended in my humble opinion.

Property was in overall good condition during my 3 night stay. Room finishes and furnishings were moderately updated, secure, and clean. The continental breakfast was pretty much limited to granola bars and coffee. They can definitely make some improvements there.

The experience was satisfactory for the price. Check-in was fine and staff were polite. The room was clean which is very important to me. I prefer the hotels with a seating area and full breakfast. This Super 8 provided orange juice, coffee, and granola bars and it is in the small check in office area.

The facilities were fine. The room was clean and fairly comfortable. The breakfast area and content were less than good compared to other places we have stayed.

The bathtub is slippery, but fortunately, there is a grab bar for support. The napkin box on the bathroom wall contains used napkins, so I decided not to use it. The breakfast was advertised as free, but there were only a few cookies available, and the juice dispenser was out of order.

The room had a few roaches the tv is the worse there is barely any Chanels and the tv is really old. Breakfast I’d grab and go pop stars and granola bars, the coffe is really watery.

It was quiet. No pool or real breakfast bar.
