Lovely hotel, slightly let down by the fact that their hot tub is offered from 8am and was not actually open in the morning (at 8am or by 10am when checking out) The breakfast was great and stands out above the other continental style breakfasts we have had in our trip. There was a wake up call for northern lights which was a welcome addition. Rooms clean, bed comfortable. Plenty of parking.

Of all my Stays this place was my favorite! Beautiful golf course views, not tubs, sauna, fantastic breakfast with so many options. Great friendly staff. I highly recommend this place. Price not bad for what you get!

Lovely quiet place to stay. We wre there for 4 nights, and were upgraded to a cabin, which was nice. The sauna wasn't working, but laying in the hot spa out in the middle of the golf course in the dark of night, looking up at the northern lights, was most enjoyable.

The room was clean and has everything you need, the shower is the typical European style that has a small piece of glass to prevent the water from splashing outside but it doesn’t work (worst design ever). The staff wasn’t very friendly and seemed a little cold. They didn’t provide much info about the stay/breakfast schedule/hot tub/etc until you asked them. The hot tub wasn’t on at the time of my visit for whatever reason and there was no sign (it was during running schedule). The steam room was off too. The gym room barely has any equipments. The good: - clean - good buffet that was included - near a golf driving range (not very well maintained but it’s not part of the hotel) - near a golf course - has a large parking space The bad: - hot tub and steam room weren’t working - parking lot is very dark at night that makes you feel unsafe - shower is a little weak and a bit dated - front desk staff not very friendly Rating: 3.5/5

Beautiful hotel. We stayed in one of the cabins. Modern, clean, comfortable. The breakfast was the best we had all trip and the staff were friendly and nice. I would definitely stay here again. They also have a sauna and hot tub and offer to wake you up if they see the northern lights.

The property was easy to locate, staff was friendly, rooms were clean and neat. Dinner and breakfast the following morning were adequate. The only downside would be the expense. It was quite expensive for the simple room but I would stay there again.

Wir haben eine der neuen Deluxe Cabine für 3 Personen gebucht. Positiv: -das Zimmer ist groß und es sieht gut aus -das Frühstück war hervorragend -das Abendessen war gut. -die Umgebung ist sehr grün Negativ: -das Doppelbett war sehr hart/unbequem, das Kissen schlecht und die Decke viel zu warm für den Sommer. Das Sofabett war noch härter. -vor dem Sofabett gab es Haare und Staub als wir ins Zimmer kamen -die Duschgel/Shampoo hat geklemmt, wir konnten den Inhalt kaum rauszubekommen -es gibt ein Badventilator, der nicht mit dem Licht angeht sonst es läuft pausenlos und ist laut, entweder schließt man die Badzimmertür oder man schaltet es oben links beim Gerät aus(haben wir in der Rezeption gefragt) -der Hotpot in der Nähe der Deluxe Kabinen war schmutzig und viel zu heiß. Wir haben die anderen Hotpots etwas weiter weg kontrolliert und sie waren genau so nur diese waren sauber. Wir waren schon in mehreren Hotpots in Island und ja das muss warm sein aber nicht extrem unmöglich heiß, dass keiner aushält. Wir haben zwei anderen Pärchen gefragt und sie waren genau unserer Meinung. -beim Deluxe Kabinen kann man davor direkt parken, erstmal ein Vorteil aber man hört jedes Auto das da fährt Ich würde das Hotel nicht wieder buchen.

Shower broken, fan in bathroom not good, bathroom was really wet after each shower, even with leaving the door open. Dangerous as the floor was soaked. Door to patio was flimsy and difficult to lock. Most expensive room of our trip at over $200 per night, and the smallest.

A very classy and upscale hotel with a view of ice capped mountains from the room. To top that we had a cabin which was very modern with a decent breakfast spread. The hotel shares the property with a golf course and is about 8 mins away from Borgarnes. Highly recommended.

This is a good hotel, but the rooms are on the small size. The bathroom are also tiny. This is my third time staying here. The hotel is conveniently located close to town, but not walkable distance. One small nitpick is that the rooms do not have any built in USB charging ports. This is common in many hotels now and is very convenient for charging devices. The hotel should consider installing those in each room.

Schönes Hotel nicht weit von Borgarnes. An der Ringstraße, trotzdem sehr ruhig gelegen mit einem Golfplatz drumrum. Zimmer leider ziemlich hellhörig, Türen werden von anderen Gästen zugeschlagen, man hört die Schritte. Sehr nette kleine Terrasse vor jedem Zimmer. Frühstück sehr vielfältig, an einem Tag gab es sogar Waffeln.

We booked the separate cabin which gave us an extra seating area and large window overlooking the golf course. The room was simple and tasteful. Very comfortable! Love the heated floors in the bathroom and enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. Breakfast was good. Recommend this hotel.

The setting and location are fantastic at this property. The luxury cabins are really new and modern with beautiful bathrooms that feature rainfall shower heads as well as handheld shower sprayers. The water pressure is strong and the aesthetic is really nice in the whole cabin. My only complaint is the mattress quality; it was a little uncomfortable due to lack of support but the bedding itself was plentiful and of good quality and comfort. I would return to this property for sure!

We spent a night here on our way back to Reykjavík. The rooms were clean, stylish, and functional. We especially appreciated the outdoor hot tub and sauna, which were perfect after a long day of driving. Though it’s a bit outside the city, the breakfast was excellent and made the stay worthwhile.

We stayed two nights (Aug 26 & 27) and booked the Jr. Suite and two luxury cabins (3 rooms), and would suggest either of these two rooms in lieu of the standard smaller rooms. All three rooms were wonderful, very large and overlook the golf course and mountains. The sauna is directly outside the patio of the very private luxury cabins. Natasia & Ines at the front desk are both amazing and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. They called us in the middle of the nights to let us know the Northern Lights were out. The restaurant food and staff were excellent. Hotel has a great warm feel to it. Highly recommend the Hotel Hamar!

The staff was very welcoming and jumped right on a problem we had when the shower flooded. They even gave us a wake up call to catch a glimpse of the northern lights. The food was beyond our expectations. We don’t normally stay at hotels associated to golf courses so honestly didn’t expect much but this place is well worth the stop over for the view, food and nice, really nice people. We look forward to going back and trying out one of the cabins.

Unable to stay in our room due to canceled flight, which I fully acknowledge that this is not the hotels problem. However, the hotel was unwilling to reimburse any portion of our fees with 15 hours notice that we'd be unable to make this reservation. This is more of a awareness to those that book here, if plans are altered for whatever reason, the hotel will not offer any sort of refund. I understand that it is Iceland, and these are usually smaller family run hotels, so this is why I still gave it a 3-Star review, even though I had to pay for a night here that I never got to enjoy. I'm sure the accommodations are as nice as other places that we stayed in Iceland, after missing our first day/night.

Great stay at Hamar! The property is well appointed, breakfast was great, and the hot tub and sauna overlooking the golf course and mountains cant be beat. Wonderful place to see the northern lights as its away from the city and the gold course provides great views of the sky.

situated on a golf course, easy to locate, lots of parking on site, great breakfast spread and just 8 min drive to visit The Settlement Museum and dine there and 5 minute to turn onto Hwy 1 (ring road) to head to the capital. Very convenient. Rooms are basic and functional. Just right for one night on our ring road adventure around Iceland.

The restaurant was grossly overpriced for the value. I had the fish and chips and the tempura batter far outweighed the amount of fish. The hamburger was overcooked and mealy. I would not recommend eating here.

Fabulous place! Delicious restaurant and lovely room! Our only complaint was the shower, not hot enough and very low pressure. Loved that they had a night watch who called us at 1am, on request, to view the Aurora:) Definitely recommend.

Beautiful stand alone room on a well manicured property. Modern fit and finish! Offered to call when the Aurora was visible, but we looked into the lights being prominent even as the sun was still setting. Great breakfast.
