Staff were friendly and helpful, albeit the check in time was 2pm was allowed to use the leisure facilities from midday which was great. The room was clean and the bed comfortable - the shower water pressure was poor, handles missing from taps and sockets severely outdated, could also do with sockets next to the bed too. All in all, would definitely stay again.

I booked here for one night to attend a function at Stonyhurst on our way back from the Lakes. I thought it would be nice to have use of a pool. Although average, the pool wasn't as nice as either of our previous hotels, particularly because firstly, no robes are provided, and secondly, the (ladies ) change rooms were messy, no doors, water everywhere and a sign saying no outdoor shoes. Not really enjoyable as our room was far from reception and having to go there for a towel first was annoying. The screen in our large room was tiny so watching from bed was not really possible. Most importantly our bed was a hammock. Very soft and hard to get a good comfortable sleep. We didn't eat dinner or breakfast, and after seeing the prices on the menu, I'm glad. The artisan food is probably delicious but it's pricey! The room was large, shower over the bath was rather underpressure but hot, big dressing and tea area. The price for one night was £85, if there had been a hot tub I'd have said it was worth it but sadly not.

Very happy with the price. Free upgrade from club room to suite was appreciated. Lovely large fuffy towels. Very comfy bed and pillows. Staff were all welcoming. Small gym, pool, steam room and sauna on site. Minor draw back, bathroom door didnt shut properly and bath plug hole made gurgling noise even though we didnt use it.

First rate hotel. We had a small dog which was catered for very well along with a room on the ground floor with a sliding door exit to the gardens, ideal. facilities offered very good, and the meals we had were excellent.great value fpr money. We will definately rebook when in the area next. Very pleasant staff, very accomodating.

Had to wait 5 mins to check in. 2 other staff didnt know how to do it. Had to go back to reception to find out how to get to the leisure centre. Got given a code for the leisure centre but didnt need it to get in. Restaurant has a lovely upstairs balcony but it was closed to guests - only available for private functions. Restaurant staff okay but twice we could have done with being offered a tray to transport drinks. Wifi in room was very weak. TV aerial socket was faulty - had to wiggle wire to get a signal Bathroom .mixer tap was missing a lever to operate it. Wardrobe doors didnt slide very easily. Room very big, bed comfy. Bathroom very big, 2 sinks. A bit of attention to the above would have made a big difference.

Our first impresdion of the reception area was WOW. Beautiful venue with breathtaking grounds. Lovely sun terraces and fantastic restaurant with amazing food. Would recommend. We had an evening meal which was superb and Breakfast was great too. Spa area small but nice enough for a relaxing dip in the pool and steam room, sauna and very small gym but enough for me. My only disappointment was that our room was a club room and accessed via a path to an annexe which did not have the same WOW factor as the main building. The room was very big with large bathroom, large lounge with couch and separate dressing area which was a nice touch and although it had been decorated recently and clean i just had the feeling that it was a bit tired. The furniture was old and the bathroom was very tired and needs to be fully updated. Bed was very soft and bouncy but slept ok. Just loved the place and sad the room was not so first class as the rest of the hotel. Having said that it was acceptable for what we paid.

The room was disgusting, mould all over the shower ceiling. Bath was dirty black spots of dirt and grime. Food was terrible. Chicken/chorizo rigatoni bland and tasteless.

Stated 2pm check in. Tried to check in and couldn't till around 3pm. Room was quite dirty in places. Furniture as tacky, bits missing, carpet bubbled. Look like room had a cheap makeover. Bathroom and shower dirty, floor grout dirty and shower cubicle had mould all over. Lots of dust in areas where it should be cleaned

Our suite was amazing. Huge living area and then the double bedroom off of this was big as well. Bathroom was fab, bath, separate toilet and a walk in shower area, huge mirrors with great lighting to do make up. Lots of storage to put clothes away, 2 great areas to do hair and make up. Nice little outdoor table and chairs outside of the sliding doors where you can watch the chickens walk by. Great restaurant with amazing food. We had lunch and breakfast here and was not disappointed with either. Cheese and ham omelette for brekkie was best I’ve ever tasted. The rooms could do with updating a little but are still in really good condition and I don’t mind this at all as long as it’s clean and comfy, no nasty smells to rooms either. Overall a great hotel where I would defo go back to.

The public areas are beautiful. Function room excellent, lovely food. My room looked grubby stained carpet, damaged furniture, broken pull switch in the bathroom. Poorly layed out bathroom, no were to put the hand , had to leave it on the bath so you drip water on the floor after washing your hand, again no were to hang bath towels while in the shower, only on the wash basin or towel rail behind the bath opersit side of the bathroom, shower tray very slippy no hand rails.all light switches and plug sockets look grubby.

Great value suite, booked with hotel.com members' prices. Only stayed for one night but was a good base. Room was tired/dated but clean. Hotel has multiple functions on but rooms well located / sound proofed so we were not disturbed.

Pleasant hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy parking. Good menu and great food. Only let down was the room. It was comfortable but very tired and in need of modernising. Not many toiletries in bathroom. Some lamps and lights didn’t work. No menu in room. This was a suite and TV in lounge area was tiny.

The grounds, restaurant, and pool are great! The beds were the WORST ever! So old and uncomfortable. If you have a hotel, the beds should be a priority. We loved the grounds, and the restaurant is brilliant. Great food and drink. If the beds were replaced, we would go again, even though the rooms are dated. The beds and updating need seeing to asap.

The room was very big with large bathroom, large lounge with couch and separate dressing area which was a nice touch and although it had been decorated recently and clean i just had the feeling that it was a bit tired. The furniture was old and the bathroom was very tired and needs to be fully updated. Bed was very soft and bouncy but slept ok. Just loved the place and sad the room was not so first class as the rest of the hotel. Having said that it was acceptable for what we paid.

Ignored when checking in - receptionist was in the phone but a nod or smile to acknowledge you are there would have been nice, or a polite “sorry to keep you waiting” but nothing! But an abrupt “Are you wanting to check in ?” Room Spacious room but quite tired. Only enough milk for one cup of tea but otherwise adequate.

First rate hotel. We had a small dog which was catered for very well along with a room on the ground floor with a sliding door exit to the gardens, ideal. facilities offered very good, and the meals we had were excellent.great value fpr money. We will definately rebook when in the area next. Very pleasant staff, very accomodating.

Had to wait 5 mins to check in. 2 other staff didnt know how to do it. Had to go back to reception to find out how to get to the leisure centre. Got given a code for the leisure centre but didnt need it to get in. Restaurant has a lovely upstairs balcony but it was closed to guests - only available for private functions. Restaurant staff okay but twice we could have done with being offered a tray to transport drinks. Wifi in room was very weak. TV aerial socket was faulty - had to wiggle wire to get a signal Bathroom .mixer tap was missing a lever to operate it. Wardrobe doors didnt slide very easily. Room very big, bed comfy. Bathroom very big, 2 sinks. A bit of attention to the above would have made a big difference.

Had an amazing stay here, when we arrived we were informed we were upgraded to a superior suite which was a lovely surprise. The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. We wished we could have stayed a second night. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay 😀

Our suite was amazing. Huge living area and then the double bedroom off of this was big as well. Bathroom was fab, bath, separate toilet and a walk in shower area, huge mirrors with great lighting to do make up. Lots of storage to put clothes away, 2 great areas to do hair and make up. Nice little outdoor table and chairs outside of the sliding doors where you can watch the chickens walk by. Great restaurant with amazing food. We had lunch and breakfast here and was not disappointed with either. Cheese and ham omelette for brekkie was best I’ve ever tasted. The rooms could do with updating a little but are still in really good condition and I don’t mind this at all as long as it’s clean and comfy, no nasty smells to rooms either. Overall a great hotel where I would defo go back to.
