Hotel was in a lovely setting and had some lovely views/walks around the grounds and surrounding fields. Breakfast was brilliant and the sauna and jacuzzi were empty so felt like real luxury having them to myself. For me it was let down by the restaurant and the service. Took 1 hour for a medium rare steak and chips on a quiet midweek stay. People that entered the restaurant after me were served their meals before me. The menu is pretty misleading with the veg options and I ended up being charged £10 two small dishes of greens and carrots and after £30 for a chewy steak and hard fries it was another £5 on top for a sauce… Could be a top hotel and due to its location in the middle of nowhere it could be a bit of a hidden gem but needs some attention to detail and some work in areas.

Lovely country house hotel with beautiful grounds and view, great food, and friendly staff. Even a pool to cool us down on a super hot May day (outdoor, unheated, small and perfect!) Thanks for helping with unique food intolerances too. We will be back

Our stay was truly wonderful from start to finish. The venue itself is absolutely stunning—rich in history and full of character—and the gardens are simply breathtaking. Being able to walk down to the River Usk and wander for miles through the open fields was such a special experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully appointed, making it easy to relax and feel at home. What really set this stay apart, however, was the staff. Every single person we encountered was warm, kind, and welcoming. The dining team were especially lovely and incredibly accommodating, making each meal feel personal and enjoyable. A particularly memorable moment was on the morning of our departure, when the gardener—while tending to the fire—took the time to stop and chat with us about the grounds. It’s those thoughtful, human touches that make a stay truly unforgettable. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. It was a genuinely special and memorable experience.
