This is the second stay. Was placed in far rooms past courtyard. The bed was hard and pillows so flat. There was no shampoo or conditioner, bottles empty and asked about refilling -bought new from Boots. They had taken out mini fridge, as it showed they was one! no A/C!! It was so hot. No USB plugs, had to borrow, then buy one. 2019 we were above restaurant, so nice and had mini fridge, A/C and a fan and bed was nice. So thought going back would be nice with sister staying there too, and they were above restaurant. Just bad luck this time.

One of the lifts closest to my room was out of order. The bath in my room had a large distant between bath and floor, making it very unsafe. No room safe. No room key acess to front door of hotel. I have stayed in many hotel and this is average. Very basic hotel for a high price. Small breakfast very expensive .

Would have been a higher rating but for a couple on niggly things. Firstly if you want sweeteners with tea and coffee take your own. They don't have them. The breakfast is sparse, half a mushroom is a bit mean and the continental is cereal, bread, a few pastries and some yoghurt and some chpped fruit. No croissants, pain au chocolate, meat, cheese or even an apple, an irange or a banana. The most bizzare thing is that despite the bar and restaurant being immediately adjacent to each other you cannot get anything off the restaurant in the bar. The bar menu has no desserts thereon, so eat in the bar and you are not allowed a dessert. Strange in the extreme. Otherwise this is a really nice hotel with a lot of character with pleasant, welcoming staff. Despite my moans I would stay again without hesitation.

Great price for one night (near Stowe). Reception staff welcoming and warned me about tight parking in courtyard ( you drive through an archway which is a tight turn but if take it slow is no issue. We stayed in room 102 which was a large double. Very clean, had 2 hairdryers, iron board, tea/coffee etc. need to remember this is a 500 year old building so lots of character and some creaky floors. If you are type of guest who wants no noise when walking around go elsewhere! Loads of storage in room. Bathroom has shower over bath ( my only desire would be to have had a shower cubicle rather than bath but that’s personal choice). Food offerings plentiful and very reasonable prices. Cooked to order. Very attentive and cheerful staff in bar/ restaurant. Good location in Buckingham with a small fruit/veg market and separate flea market in the Saturday. Would stay again if in the area

Got to my suite late. Bath panel off and propped to the side blocking bathroom door. Just went to bed. Next morning no hot water. Obviously a plumbing repair had not been completed but they let the room to me anyway. Obviously if I’d been there earlier in the afternoon/evening I’d have noticed and demanded a room change, but they really should not have allowed the room to be used.

This hotel has deteriorated in the last 12 months. Poor experience checking in. Both rooms provided were doubles but twins had been booked. Alternative rooms were then provided quite quickly but what would have been the case if the hotel had been full. One room then had a shower leak so we needed to move again. The waste bin on one room had not been emptied from a previous guest and the shelves in the bathroom were full of dust. No intructions were provided reagaring access after 11pm.

Great check in- staff at hotel and pub area super! Room is fine - clean and lots of hot water and water pressure. On a road and so a bit of noise so ask for a back room. Ask to not be in room 1 , friends I. Other rooms found it all delightful.

Had to wait 45 minutes for tea bags, 30 minutes for ice, hair dryer broke, only 2 plug sockets in the room that we could use, 1 by the window and one too far away from the bed to charge at night, hairs in the bath, the shower gel was filled with water, conditioner was empty, had to wait 20 minutes and multiple calls to get it refilled, pillows were thin and seemed underfilled, all staff seemed like they didnt want to be there and whenever we asked for anything, it was made complicated and like we were putting them out by asking for help, supposed to be a high end hotel, would have had better service at a ibis budget. Best parts were the window nook and the size of the room

The 3 course meal in the restaurant was very tasty, well-balanced and great value for money. Hotel staff were all courteous and helpful. Only downside was the traffic noise as our room was at front of hotel, otherwise, a great weekend stay.

The hotel staff were super friendly, the hotel itself was well located and only 2 mins walk from Buckingham centre. We arrived late but still found it easy to park. My only suggestion for improvement was the bed - we both had a very uncomfortable nights sleep and woke full of aches as the mattress was so unforgiving. I’d put sleep quality above everything else so this would probably deter me from returning which is a shame as everything else was great

Was meant to be a relaxing staycation. It was fairly relaxing and we checked out at reception straight after breakfast and confirmed we’d enjoyed our stay but when we got home I had a couple of missed calls from hotel. (I actually assumed I’d left something behind.) When I rang back the receptionist told me 2 coffees had been ordered at breakfast and charged to my room. I explained it wasn’t us and that we’d prepaid for full breakfast and had our coffee with our breakfast so definitely didn’t order those coffees. Apparently nobody signed for the coffee and it was noted as our room number. Was meant to be a relaxing staycation. It was fairly relaxing and we checked out at reception straight after breakfast and confirmed we’d enjoyed our stay but when we got home I had a couple of missed calls from hotel. (I actually assumed I’d left something behind.) When I rang back the receptionist told me 2 coffees had been ordered at breakfast and charged to my room. Very nice 2 night stay for a wedding in Adstock . Staff were all super helpful and friendly . Had breakfast and dinner in Dukes which was fabulous . The duplex room was superb . Highly recommended hotel .

After we had changed rooms, we were pleased with the new one but it was it irritating not to be warned that the overhead shower was not working in our original room. Dinners were excellent and service very good indeed. The breakfasts need attention: the bread machine only toasted on one side or, if sent through again to do the other side, came out as a burnt offering. The procedure for breakfasts seems to favour staff rather than guests. It would be pleasant to have milk, jams etc on the tables and for coffee or tea delivered to the table. I must add that we did not have cooked breakfasts but they looked very good. I make these remarks in, hopefully, a useful manner rather than outright criticism.

The 3 course meal in the restaurant was very tasty, well-balanced and great value for money. Hotel staff were all courteous and helpful. Only downside was the traffic noise as our room was at front of hotel, otherwise, a great weekend stay.

Would have been a higher rating but for a couple on niggly things. Firstly if you want sweeteners with tea and coffee take your own. They don't have them. The breakfast is sparse, half a mushroom is a bit mean and the continental is cereal, bread, a few pastries and some yoghurt and some chpped fruit. No croissants, pain au chocolate, meat, cheese or even an apple, an irange or a banana. The most bizzare thing is that despite the bar and restaurant being immediately adjacent to each other you cannot get anything off the restaurant in the bar. The bar menu has no desserts thereon, so eat in the bar and you are not allowed a dessert. Strange in the extreme. Otherwise this is a really nice hotel with a lot of character with pleasant, welcoming staff. Despite my moans I would stay again without hesitation.

Dog friendly rooms are on ground floor. These aren't comparable to other standard rooms, but charged at same rate plus an additional £20 cleaning charge. Our room was basically furnished with painted plain MDF wardrobe in corner. Window was open in all these rooms presumably to help with smell. Carpets we're stained and smell was very noticeable when windows closed. Despite these comments to reception, we were still charged the additional cleaning fee.

It was ok but as I booked online wasn’t expecting a £50 hit to cover damage as soon as we went to book in also we mentioned we might have breakfast but got charged at around 3 in the morning We did get our money back but think it’s a bit harsh that they just take it overnight
