They also own a building around the corner... thats where we lodged. Had to walk a couple blocks for breakfast. Quiet , convenient, and clean. Parking is orivided by the Pub but it's a 5 min walk uphill to the lidgings.

Cute little inn just inside the medieval wall of the city of Caernarfon. Great food and atmosphere. Fair warning, on-site parking is limited though there is off-site parking nearby. Highly recommend!

The wonderful Black Boy Inn was everything and more than I expected from a 500+ yr old. The bedroom and bathroom was spacious clean and modern, but with a feel of nostalgia in its furnishing. The food was generous and good honest home-style cooking. More than satisfactory I would recommend this Inn. The only issues was with the parking arrangement and the Wifi was not so reliable.

Ive been staying here on business for about 7 years now and i keep coming back, so it must be doing something right. My only criticisms would be that the quality and service at breakfast dont match that of the evening and the parking is a bit tight. These two things aside its spot on and I'd definitely recommend 👌

This place is a gem full of old world historic context, with gorgeous, lush hanging flower baskets adorning the front to greet you as you walk from the cobblestoned street. Eat at their festive outdoor seating or in a quaint interior. Staff helpful. Rooms available in a number of different buildings within the site. Very nice room but no elevator to upper floors in our building. Perfect place to stay to visit Caenarfon Wales, such a great walled town with one of the best castles in Wales nicely presented, several historic flag-lined streets with nice shops and eateries. Great base to visit nearby attractions such as Welsh Historic Railway, the quaint seaside village of Cricceith, and pleasant city plaza and boat tour of the Menai Strait and views of the castle.

We stayed for 2 nights and from check in to check out the staff were friendly and fantastic. The food was of good quality and quantity the selection of food was very good. The bedroom was lovely very big and very clean, there was a hostess tray which had a good selection of tea and coffee with biscuits too. The hotel is positioned in the an ideal location within the town and also to get to other attractions. I would definitely recommend The Black Boy Inn and will definitely be returning.

A beautiful traditional hotel . Our room -37was immaculately clean . The bed was very comfortable and bathroom newly done out by the looks of it . Food in the restaurant was really good , tasty and home made . Can definitely recommend the steak and ale pie . Breakfast was delicious. Staff and amenities all excellent.

no car park,very very small room,no furniture of any kind had to leave property on the floor.room right over reception so was very noisy,room dirty,staff useless and unfriendly,glad to leave the place after three nights stay!!!very very over priced for what you get !!

Inn is perfectly situated within the walls of Caernarfon Castle, convenient to shops, restaurants and bars. Staff are uniformly friendly and welcoming. My room (#34) was in an old building but had been completely modernized inside, including the bathroom. Room was immaculate and had plenty of well-located electrical outlets. Bed and linens were comfortable. Couldn't find a thermostat but HVAC seemed to be centrally controlled. It was nice and cozy by day and cooled down by bedtime; ditto for the heated towel rack. Breakfast was tasty and came quickly, accompanied by a big smile. Cold items were help-yourself and hot foods cooked to order. Dining room breathed history, as did the bar. Dinner was piping hot and tasty.

Stayed in Room 24 at the top and a fan was provided which was great and it’s a spacious room. The way the bed is positioned is a pain if you’re sleeping on the right but no head bangs! The tea and coffee was topped up every day. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

The inn is a beautiful building but we stayed room 30 - supposed to be best room! Got woke up approx 5am every morning to music and people/stuff moving ! We complained and got told to ring next time but no apology.

We stayed in the four poster room which was huge and a really stunning, comfortable room, it had everything we needed and the shower is amazing. The only downside was this room is located above the coach house, I had to call down the reception twice around 11:30pm as the music was booming through to the room I suspect due to it being an older building as it didn't seem overly loud inside the pub, but this was solved and turned off and they were very helpful on the phone. We also had a similar problem in the morning as everyone has their breakfast in the coach house so you can hear everything.

Hotel is is charming and very old with a lot of character and in a great location . All staff except 1 barman were helpful and friendly . Our room was very hot and dark and also very noisy as over the main bar and entrance door there was no way round this so we didn’t sleep well at all . Great weekend in Caernarfon. Accidentally booked to stay the weekend of the food festival but we got a call to give us advice on parking and arriving super early to beat the crowds which was very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. We were in the townhouse round the corner from the pub and the room was lovely, very clean and spacious! The staff were very helpful and welcoming too! Highly recommend!

The staff was so outstanding. Without exception everyone we dealt with went out of their way to make our stay more comfortable. After climbing Snowdon earlier in the day, and soaked to the skin, staff couldn't have been more helpful, after a bath and change got table straight away for our evening meal. Excellent service and menu.

Staff was extremely professional and wonderfully helpful; quickly reassigned me to another room when an issue arose and helped book me a taxi for my departure. I would certainly return for my ‘third’ visit as its great value for money with ‘first-rate’ customer-service!

One of the oldest Inn’s in Wales. Inside the Castle walls and totally unique. An awesome cute tiny pub and they say the Inn has a resident ghost! Only a 5 minute walk to Castle Caernarfon which is an amazingly well preserved castle from 1283.

My room (#34) was in an old building but had been completely modernized inside, including the bathroom. Room was immaculate and had plenty of well-located electrical outlets. Bed and linens were comfortable. Couldn't find a thermostat but HVAC seemed to be centrally controlled. It was nice and cozy by day and cooled down by bedtime; ditto for the heated towel rack. Breakfast was tasty and came quickly, accompanied by a big smile. Cold items were help-yourself and hot foods cooked to order. Dining room breathed history, as did the bar. Dinner was piping hot and tasty.

Lovely stay at The Black Boy. Nice comfortable room with a great shower. Fantastic evening meal and breakfast with attentive friendly staff. Convient for the bus to Llanberis/peny Pass Reccommend highly and would stay again.

If you’re looking for a historic experience while visiting the castle, you can’t get better than this Inn. It’s obviously been modernized, but eating downstairs has such a tavern feel to it. The portions are huge and the food is delicious especially the welsh pie and soups. Within the castle walls, you’ll have an array of local shops and pubs to frequent after touring the castle. Enjoy a walk along the water. As others have mentioned, there are stairs and it can be a bit of a maze to get to your room. I was worried but this actually did not bother me. As long as you can lift your suitcase up stairs, you’ll be fine.

Charming and historic property inside Castle walls. Food was well above expectations with an absolutely superb Lemon & white chocolate “parfait” with lemon ice cream and raspberry coulis. One of best desserts ever!

The wonderful Black Boy Inn was everything and more than I expected from a 500+ yr old. The bedroom and bathroom was spacious clean and modern, but with a feel of nostalgia in its furnishing. The food was generous and good honest home-style cooking. More than satisfactory I would recommend this Inn. The only issues was with the parking arrangement and the Wifi was not so reliable.

Ive been staying here on business for about 7 years now and i keep coming back, so it must be doing something right. My only criticisms would be that the quality and service at breakfast dont match that of the evening and the parking is a bit tight. These two things aside its spot on and I'd definitely recommend 👌

This is a lovely hotel but very overpriced for area. We were told by reception, when enquiring whether breakfast was included (i couldn't remember what was booked ). Her response was , 'it depends who you booked through'. She checked and when noting it was Hotels.com , asvised it wasn't! At £140 a night, out of season , you would expect breakfast. Also made a note of credit card number on booking stating 'becsuse you booked through 'expedia'' For £140 a night for an out of season stay in Caernarvon , would expect breakfast. Food was nice but again over priced and we told by various more frequent travellers there to go elsewhere.
