Stayed 1 night

The young lady on reception was very helpful, and gave us all the information before I even asked the questions, then when I complimented her she said “thank you, I’ve only been here a few weeks”! Well keep her on……… Sadly we thought breakfast was until 11 am, but it finished at 10 am, that’s our fault for not paying attention. That’s our first stay but it won’t be our last. It’s not budget price hotel, but your getting g more than excellent in all fields for a few pounds more.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was spacious. My only issues were, the lighting in the en-suite was very dull, especially for making sure that you had taken all your makeup off, never mind trying to put it on. Both push buttons for the toilet were exceedingly stiff. I had to use both hands to try and push the button enough for it to flush. My only other quibble and the staff could do nothing about that, was the inconsiderate guests, going into their rooms at half two and half three in the morning. Banging the doors and talking loudly.

Stayed 2 nights

We travelled up this last week for another family funeral. The building and grounds itself are still lovely but we feel that attention to detail has diminished somewhat . After a 6 and a half hour drive I wanted to have a shower before meeting up with other family members. On getting into the shower I realised that one of the 2 lights in the bathroom did not work making it quite difficult to see what I was doing . My husband reported this the early the following morning and in fairness it was fixed quickly a couple of hours later while we were at the funeral. However on returning to our room around 4pm post the wake held in the function suite we found that despite having hung the “ please make up the room” sign on the door at 7.30am that morning our room had not been touched. On reporting this to reception a manager was dispatched to our room, he asked what we wanted him to do. We aren’t precious about making our own bed or having the bin emptied etc but we did need our towels replacing which he did do. This doesn’t excuse the fact that our room was initially ignored though and on an emotionally difficult day we could have done without it. I also mentioned to said manager that I had tried to use the ironing board that morning only to find that the cover did not fit the board lengthways and was not attached properly making it difficult to iron the items needed without the cover rucking up. I could go on but there aren’t enough characters left to do so. We won’t be returning
