There are just things a spa/resort facility is expected to provide those who are paying. The first being a spa facility that is ready for clients at open time. The pool/jacuzzi area opened at 8 am yet we couldn’t get in the water because staff were working on water balance of chemicals. Why not do this when the pool is closed from 9 pm to 8 am? The second is that to access the spa facility you have to walk through the middle of the restaurant by people eating at tables. This is super uncomfortable and awkward for both those using the spa and those eating! Why would anyone want to parade in sweaty clothes or swimsuits through the middle of a restaurant and why would those dining appreciate that?

All in all this has been a good experience. Primarily we wanted to take the Grandchildren away for a night to somewhere with a pool and this didn’t disappoint. We also stayed in the hotel for dinner and the 4 year olds dinner was free and the meal was very nice. Portions were generous and in particular the kids meals were even a bit much for them even though they are very good eaters. At the time of writing the kids are fancying another session in the pool then a late breakfast. Yes a very enjoyable stay at the Westerwood.

Overall, our stay was good but we were very disappointed that on the 2 occasions we used the pool the jacuzzi wasn't in operation. We chose this hotel specifically for the amenities stated on the website as were there for rest and relaxation.

Was not sure when choosing this hotel, in Cumbernauld, but worked out great to be away from the busy hub-bub of a city like Glasgow, so the quiet location was right. Nice leisure factifies like an adjacent golf course, sauna, pool, good changing room, lockers. Drinking fountain by pool was off-on! Plenty of parking.

Staff were warm, welcoming and helpful on arrival and for my friend’s birthday dinner. However a male member of Spa staff was surly and unhelpful. There were no staff at breakfast. The room was large and comfortable. The spa, however, is shabby, unhygienic with broken tiles and the pool needs a major overhaul. While dinner was excellent, breakfast was poor - lack of choice for vegan and an ineffective coffee machine.

The room was a good size, the bed (mattress, bedding) and pillow were excellent - I dare say even better than at home! Generally clean, but we found some chocolate wrappers under our bed. Some of the linen is showing obvious wear and tear, and so are some of the curtains. But generally very comfortable room. Good selection for breakfast (including premium options) but standard 'hot' items were no more than lukewarm - would highly recommend a better way of keeping pre-cooked items hot. Leisure facilities fine, but unfortunately the hot tub was not at the right temperature during our two night stay. Leisure facility staff told us the hot tub had not been functioning properly for a number of days and that they too were frustrated with it (and in the process mentioned that other parts of the hotel had been upgraded while some of the leisure facilities were in need of it too). On our second day I asked reception staff if they could check with the leisure staff if hot tub was functioning properly again, and lady at the desk said she would call our room with an update. After waiting for an hour for her call she had not yet (don't make any promises you can't keep), so I went up to reception again and spoke to a manager. The very friendly manager appeared not to know about the ongoing issues with the hot tub (bad internal communication) and offered us some compensation for the inconvenience (discount on our dinner at the hotel restaurant). Generally very pleasant stay.

Average hotel bedroom, just compatible with a 3 to 4 stars hotel. My room was not cleaned after the first night even we placed a tag on the door. After talking to the hotel desk, they said only next day cleaning. The hotel is far from town / restaurants and their own restaurant, while reasonable good, does not serve food after 9pm even during peak summer holidays season. Breakfast is good and swimming pool facilities very good. Kids can stay on the swimming pool until 7pm. I wish the swimming pool could be extended until 8-9pm during peak summer.

Somewhat dated, but the beds and showers were nice. Cleanliness was questionable in the room. Careful with the twin bed rooms as some are for handicapped which give medical style bathroom setups.

Staff are the best thing about this hotel- they’re very friendly and go the extra mile to resolve problems. Hotel furnishings even in main lobby are worn and tired, bedrooms could do with a revamp. Plates, cups and cutlery were dirty and had to go through them to find clean ones for breakfast- it can’t be that difficult to have them clean. Don’t know if dogs being in rooms and all about is really a good idea- I walked through to lift and just through doors was a puddle on floor- I love dogs but I’d say in strange surroundings they could get nervous! We had stayed previously about 12 years ago but it definitely is not of the same standard as it was then. I have to say there is a wide variety at breakfast and porridge, pancakes etc ordered from menu are very quickly delivered.

Rooms in need of updating. Shower was needing a good scrub as the grout has black mould. Doors on the shower very old and needing replaced. Bed very comfortable and fresh bedding and towels provided. Never used the spa facilities but the area for these looks lovely.

I went with my family and we quite enjoy our stay. The staff are quite lovely and ready to help especially Joanne who helped my family to find lovely places to visit during our stay. I would have rated it a 5 star service aside the fact that the room there is no air condition making the room a bit sturfy overnight as a family of four.

Lovely room, spacious and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was great - clearly recently renovated, although the shower head was leaking from the join. Unfortunately the pillows were very soft and there was a lot of noise from the room upstairs and affected my sleep. The restaurant was very delicious, however it was fully booked for Saturday night and with the lack of other options around the venue i didn't get to eat that night at all

Pros, Hotel is dog friendly. There's a nice area to walk dogs to the side of the hotel. Staff are very nice. Good selection offered on breakfast. Cons, Think some areas of the hotel are in need of being updated/repaired. Bedroom was boiling hot and there was no way to regulate the heat.

Got woke at 6am by a fire alarm and evacuation that was caused by bad maintenance. Could not return to the hotel for over 2 hours. On checkout they had already charged for breakfast that was missed due to the fire alarm and I had to argue with them to get it refunded. Not good customer service here

The whole proccess of checking in was so easy and the staff were all absolutely lovely and helpful. The room was clean and bigger than expected. Dinner was delicious and again the staff were so polite and helpful. The whole experience was great.

Hotel had excellent guest service experience. Everyone was super! We had an issue with hotel com site and the desk supervisor sorted it. The dining staff especially Oliver was great but so was his evening wait staff supervisor, got some 🍴🍴 as the take way forgot to put them in the bag.

Nice hotel with good facilities. Room was very comfortable especially the bed. The overnight stay was spoiled by the dinner service. We sat at our table for over 20 minutes until I was required to stop a passing waitress and ask if it was possible to order our meal. A long wait for our starter then followed. Once again we had an unacceptable wait for our main course. We then asked for the cheese and biscuit selection only to be informed that they had ran out of some of the cheeses!! The hot choice for breakfast could only be described as luke-warm. The hotel really needs to review its policies on service and staff training as both meal times were far from enjoyable.

We loved our stay! This resort is a bit dated outside, but the interior was lovely, with a roomy bar and nice restaurant. Bedrooms were well equipped and very comfortable. We loved the pool and sauna. Convenient to Sterling and Glasgow.

Easy to find, located just off the M80. Friendly, helpful staff & very comfortable room. The reception upm, bar & restaurant areas are very attractive. The property decor is a little tired in places & the car park has a few big pot holes which could do with some attention.

Very good hotel clean and good quality rooms. However, the stay was ruined by the breakfast. The jug of milk had hairs in it. My daughter asked for the salmon and egg, which was unavailable, after the staff advised this, it really felt like they avoided our table. We had to wait for the kitchen to renew empty options, such as bacon and eggs. My wife also bit into croissant but it was too hard stale to eat.

Two night stay with dinner on the second night & breakfast. The selection for breakfast was terrific couldnt fault the choice.Loved the fact that the bread for toast white & brown was lovely bloomer bread.Had a two course meal in restaurant & my wife had three courses again first class.Spent some time in the pool , steam room & sauna great for relaxation. To top it all the staff & service was warm & freindly.Cant wait to go back.

Not so good: Hot breakfast selection was very limited and although the staff tried to keep on top of it, even when bringing out fresh sausages and bacon, they still were not hot or even warm. The plates were cold. Very cold. 2 mornings at breakfast the coffee/hot water machine caused problems at least twice within 15 minutes. This is an area that needs vast improvement. Good Points Staff/Service: The staff couldn't be more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and always polite. Really can't fault the front of house staff, who were let down either by systems/equipment or behind the scenes staff. Not sure which.

Average hotel, queen room was spacious, clean and with large bathroom with shower and bath. There was many light switches that did nothing, and only one lamp on one side. The staff were all lovely, I didn't like the free cookie but my partner enjoyed them. The spa was decent enough never went for any treatments as they seemed overpriced. Not as relaxing as I had hoped having to sort of shout to my partner on the lounger next to me. But not to bothered about that, families deserve a nice weekend too, plus the swimming lessons held must be great for local families! The food and the pricing was shocking. Absolutely ridiculous amount of money for the quality of food! I'm no chef but it tasted like the main was out the freezer with a microwaved dessert. I feel I could have got the same quality out of weather spoons for £25 for two people than the £70 I paid. Go elsewhere for food! It felt more like a small Butlins/Haven holiday park with a golf course than a 4-star golf/spa resort. I wouldn't return but I did enjoy the hot water, steam and sauna.
