Hythe Imperial Hotel, Spa & Golf

Very well-maintained older-era hotel in very quiet seafront location away from noisy attractions. Only stayed in one of smaller rooms, but it was very comfortable, nicely furnished and very well presented/cleaned. Slept superbly well! Excellent pool in-house and 9h golf course next door.

First class hotel and service, fabulous price for mid week overnight stopover. Bed, bedding and pillows were the best I've had in nearly all of my business stopovers in the past year. Only downside was the size of the gym in such a large hotel, good new equipment but given how many rooms this hotel has it was busy on a quiet Tuesday evening so would probably be no room on a busy weekend.

The hotel is lovely, our room was fantastic and clean, the amenaties were great with SPA, Pool, steam room & jacuzzi, didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening as we went out but breakfast ( buffet style ) was nice with good variety. Staff were fantastic and the area is quite quiet without being lifeless and we had a superb view over the beach. Also easy walk into Hythe or short drive to Sandgate and Folkstone. Will certainly come back as this place is a real gem

Great hotel straight next to the beach, great promenade for walking and good dining options around. Really nice pool and spa area to relax.

Lovely Hotel right on the sea front, I was given a lovely corner room great views. very friendly, Nice Pool and SPA facilities all working some a bit tired but nice

Beautiful one night stay. Our room was incredible. We ordered room service and had the breakfast. Food was okay. Spa is great to have, but could use some tlc to help it match the rest of the hotel. Good value for money though and would definitely recommend it/be back again.

Room very clean but bed a bit too firm. Champagne bar lovely but drinks a bit on the expensive side. The main bar on ground floor is tired and a bit smelly and the coffee was awful. Pool and jaccuzi/sauna/steam room are fabulous. Very helpful friendly staff.

Two nights stay. We were able to check in early which was nice and our request for a room on a lower floor was granted. I played the golf course twice - it was very well maintained when considering comparable priced courses. Greens a bit patchy. We ordered food from the martello bar twice which was good and ate at the Coast restaurant which was fantastic. My wife thought the bed was a bit too firm but i think she's overly sensitive to bed comfort at the moment as she's 6 months pregnant! She had a pregnancy massage in the spa which she said was amazing - also a good price.

We were impressed straight away with how picturesque the hotel and area was, plus everywhere seemed so peaceful. This was then further enhanced thanks to the fabulous staff. The staff made us feel very welcome and they were really enthusiastic about making our experience a positive one. Ted, in the Moet and Chandon Bar, along with his Manageress, were stand out staff for us. Ted loved to make us cocktails and we certainly enjoyed drinking them! The room was comfortable and very clean, the spa facilities were ideal and the restaurant food was excellent. Definitely a hotel that we would like to return to.

Cannot fault the room which was modern, well equipped and tidy. However the hotel thinks it is a 5 star and it is far from that. Checking in, the member of staff seemed bored and not friendly. The bar area was filthy. Cobwebs on the lights, dust across pictures and lights hanging on walls. The carpet was disgusting and the seats had marks all over them. There was even old scuffed cupboards next to the bar which just gave the place an unkempt, tired appearance. Likewise, choices in the bar were poor. After spending £14 on a Guiness and a coke, we decided to walk into the town and get a meal and more drinks in a very nice pub.

Breakfast was awful for the money, awful machine coffee ? How difficult is it to brew fresh ground coffee and serve it to a table in a pot. I haven’t seen smaller croissants at a children’s party . A this stems from poor management and penny pinching although at £16 for breakfast I was the one ripped off. Due to stay in Hythe again but I’ll be looking elsewhere. Shame because staff are nice and it’s a beautiful hotel in a lovley place.

We had bed bugs!!!

Room was very dirty even though we had 2 x deluxe suites which was a very appreciated upgrade. However our room had a very dirty carpet and the showersink taps were extremely dirty. And near the toilet wall was a very unsightly nose picking on the wall. Also in regards to the size of the room the TV was extremely small to the extent that you couldn’t even read the text in the screen from the bed. When mentioned to the staff they just kept repeating the fact that we should just appreciate that we were upgraded.

Would have been 5 stars had we not found pubic hairs on the bed! Other than that, a very enjoyable stay

Nice hotel with spacious rooms. Mostly clean but my carpet had some stains and there was a spider in my room which I understand cant be helped but made my stay a little less enjoyable.

Room was extremely cold and smelt of must when entering. Once we got heating on was better. Sofa was very tired and bathroom was very dated and stained. The bathroom was clean but due to age sink was brown, bath was brown stains and down toilet. They put blue cleaner in to hide it but once flushed you could see. We have stayed many times before and this was the most tired condition room yet.

The disco operating 8pm - 12pm stopped us from sleeping. We wont be going there again.

Our room was on the ground floor next to the car park. A car alarm went off in the early hours of the morning directly outside the window and woke us up. The car then proceeded to continously rev its engine and race around the car park for about 15 minutes. The ground floor rooms need soundproofing.

A pleasure to stay at this hotel, staff were friendly & helpful, very comfortable room, excellent position with great views of the seafront.

We were up graded to a suite and it was fabulous, thank you so much to the hotel staff for this wonderful gesture we loved it. The suite was amazing and the view from the rooms was truly wonderful.

Nice stay, room upgraded at no extra cost

Great hotel i have stated before a number of times but this time air conditioning was broken and despite the hotel providing a fan the room temperature was very very warm.

Comfortable hotel in a good location. The room was spacious and the bed was huge! We stayed one night to be close to the Eurotunnel. We would definitely stay again if travelling by Eurotunnel.

air con not effective at all and windows didn't open so was a bit of a torture chamber to sleep in.

The room we had was clean, tidy and we had a sea room. The staff were excellent with a smile all the time. Great. The only problem for me was it was too hot at night even though the window was open to its capacity. I did use the aircon but then my husband got cold. Usually we come in January which is fine for both of us.

Lovely hotel only thing with the stay was the WiFi in our room was very intermittent and the spa changing rooms could do with a refurbishment

A good quality hotel. Only downside is if you book through a third party like Hotels.com, this hotel still puts a “holding payment” on your card which takes a long time to clear. Less of a problem if paying by credit card as it should clear before your statement date, but unfortunately I used a debit card and the “holding payment” took over a week to clear which restricted the use of my account.

We have stayed at the HI several times before and always enjoyednour stay, thus time we was placed in a room directly above the ballroom which was hosting a very loud christmas party with horrendously loud music, we didnt know this until after spending a lovely relaxing evening in the spa , went back to our room to have the whole room vibrating and unbearable noise, after contacting reception they moved us straight away, not ideal late in the evening but the issue was dealth with quickly and effectively, hotel is lovely, apart from the spa changing rooms which are always a bit of a mess , very very tired, rusty fittings in the shower and need a refurb

The hotel is in a lovely location next to the sea. You can enjoy long walks along the seafront. The staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, you cannot check in until 4pm..

We were given a free room upgrade and check in was earlier than expected.

The artificial grass near the parking area at the front of the hotel needs replacing because it’s a trip hazard. Some of the staff were very pleasant and helpful but unfortunately it was more common that they were so under pressure that they couldn’t perform their duties properly and this is I believe because they are understaffed (not paying attention to your requests and you having to repeat them because they are too busy to retain information It took a long while for my check in, apparently because I’d booked through Expedia and not direct, and the gentleman checking me in kept disappearing to ask questions causing a queue to form behind me, which I found slightly embarrassing. Unfortunately also because they didn’t ask me to sign for my drink with my evening meal, then when I checked out they just stated that there were no outstanding room charges, it wasn’t until I got home and checked my bank account that I saw I’d been charged for someone else’s drink and they couldn’t refund that to me I was told, unless that other person agreed to pay for their drink. As far as I was concerned though it was equal to their stealing money from my account that they were not entitled to. Obviously I would NEVER stay anywhere again without checking my bill before leaving, although I must say out of the hundreds of hotels I’ve stayed in this has never occurred before and I think they should introduce a system of signing for ‘extras’ so that you know exactly what you’ve signed for.

They want a credit card deposit at the check inn and another deposit for ordering dinner. At the checkout we paid the bill for everything and the told us that we get back the deposits automatically. But this never happened. Even after weeks and many emails we still not have everything back.. A real shame..

The lady who checked me in was excellent, however the night staff failed to facilitate my early morning call. I was booked on LeShuttle, they claimed that they were too busy and forgot!!!. Frank not acceptable for a hotel with this star rating

Hotel is consistent in it's quality. 5th time my wife and I have stayed here and visit has always been excellent. Only downside this time was queue checking in, we've never seen the hotel so busy - they must be doing something right!

Hotel and food was excellent. Only downfall is they don’t offer early check in. Its bad for overnight flyers who arrive early in morning very tired.

It was a lovely stay for a weekend away to unwind and reset, a very quiet area which me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed . The grounds are lovely and it’s situated on the beachfront with access to some lovely cafes either side of the hotel …

The hotel is lovely. Large clean rooms with massive bed and aircon. We could see the sea from ours without paying the extra for it: the price was fantastic. Not much to do in the are but we were visiting port lympne so the hotel was perfect for our needs.

Good, quality hotel. Staff very helpful with good service. Great location. My only issue is the delay in returning a deposit. I do not object to them taking a deposit at all even if the room is pre-paid. The apparent reason for the deposit was because I had booked & paid thru Expedia the hotel didn’t know me??! That’s more amusing than serious but my strong complaint is that even when I checked out & owed nothing more apparently it would take at least ‘3-5’ days for the deposit to be returned. There is no reason why the money could be returned instantly so this amounts to a free loan. I do not think this delay is acceptable

Room was modern and well decorated. Bed was comfy. Nice double rain shower in bathroom, although it had a small sink and was quite small overall. Breakfast was only average - things weren't restocked quickly enough and the coffee was mediocre.

Nice room, good size and clean. Staff very polite and helpful. Spa area good. Negatives the shower did not get hot,just luke warm, drinks and food expensive. The breakfast was disappointing, no fruit as starters just ceral, bacon was hard and only just warm. It was help yourself to everything, so very annoying to keep going constantly back n forth, with food going cold. Not worth what it cost. Very mixed feelings.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant on our second night. The food was quite good but the service was shambolic. We apparently became invisible for stretches of time. I realise there are problems with such an open space, but the cleaning up and relaying of tables for the next day were off putting while we ate.

Overall a pleasant stay ! Expected more from a 4 * hotel ie lack of toiletries no separate shampoo and conditioner , breakfast very basic . Good points staff very friendly and polite, had dinner in the bar wasn’t that good for the price we paid drinks were slow coming . Hotel was in a lovely surroundings

Great location, great room. Gym was good enough. Food was available in bar and restaurant . I ate in restaurant, quality was good, and tasted good but very pricy, beef wellington was £38 which was nice but it was just weekington and mash, not much gravy and no veg served. Greens were extra which I thinks a shame stick some greens on the plate for that price. Didn’t have breakfast as very expensive. Would stay again but food and drinks are pricey

Overall very good. Stayed at this hotel 4 times in past few years, it’s good value for money except for this time we paid for the breakfast. In my opinion it’s expensive for what it was. I’ll go back but no breakfast next time
