I was very surprised by my experience at this hotel. I had booked an overnight stay as I was in Anglesey for business, but unfortunately found the hotel rather soulless and lacking in the warmth and hospitality I would expect. Firstly, the hotel was difficult to find. I tried calling for assistance but there was no answer other than voicemail. I arrived around 30 minutes before check-in. I appreciate I was early, but there was no attempt to see whether my room might already be available. I was shown to the restaurant, which was beautifully designed but extremely quiet and lacked atmosphere. The waiter greeted me with, “You won't be wanting a starter, will you?” which made me wonder whether they were closing. I also had to ask for a menu. The food itself was lovely, but the lack of atmosphere and staff engagement didn't encourage me to stay for another drink or dessert. The room also had issues. I couldn't initially open the door lock and needed assistance, there was no bath mat, and the room had a damp/musty smell. The layout also lacked practical space for things such as using a hairdryer or applying make-up. At checkout, my key was simply taken without anyone asking how my stay had been. A hotel with lovely surroundings and considerable potential, but sadly the overall experience lacked warmth, atmosphere and attention to the guest.

Our bedroom had 3 cracked tiles on the bathroom floor, not a huge bathroom, it made a fifth of the tiles cracked. The bedroom decor needs a lot of attention, it needs new wall paper/decor and a new carpet. The in room safe didn’t work so we got help but after we closed it again it stopped working again. The restaurant meals were excellent and all the staff are very helpful. The swimming pool area was lovely, I thoroughly enjoyed my swim.

Beautiful building let down by management who seem to want to turn it into a premier inn. What on earth is that nightclub style Italian restaurant doing shoehorned into a country house hotel?!!

Disappointing overall - photos make it look better than it is. No staff on duty on the hotel during the day. Rooms perfectly comfortable but not serviced. Breakfast ok but the real disappointment is the dining room - a monstrosity of modern tat tacked onto a Victorian country house with shockingly poor food both in range and quality. I wouldn't particularly recommend this place.
