This tired and tatty town hotel seems to prioritise day visitors over its residents. During a five night stay last week, I was unable to get a table for dinner on four nights as all were fully booked by visitors. Breakfast staff friendly and breakfast food good. Not enough parking for residents and live music from the bar kept residents awake until 11.30pm one evening. Not good after a long day supporting the NHS. Mould in my room smelt horrible and really spoiled the experience. You could do a lot better Greene King Inns.

Polite staff, good service and knowledgeable of the area. Property could do with some general attention, as it looks tired. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was also very good, with a good selection. Would definitely recommend to others

Check in quick and easy, hotel centrally placed with parking which is a bonus in Yeovil. Unfortunately the rooms really need an update very tired looking, wallpaper coming off the wall in one corner, bedside lampshades were stained and some black mould on the shower wall around the bath. Bed was comfortable and clean. We could here the guests next door coughing and the room doors would slam shut if you didn`t hold them as closing them which was annoying late at night and very early in the morning.The food was really good so no issues there, restaurant and bar area nicely decorated and clean decent outdoor area staff friendly and efficient but overall a little disappointed with room.

After I'd paid and checked in I was told there was a wedding on but told not to worry as it was probably not a noisy one. There was no warning of this prior to me booking or arriving. My room was so noisy, even the floor was vibrating from the loud music which was playing till around 11:15. Wouldn't normally mind but I was staying for business and had to be up at 4:30am for work. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep! Had I known about all of this beforehand I would've stayed somewhere else. A pleasant enough place to stay although 2 beds put together is not 1 bed! Very comfortable though. I would stay again but a heads up about any functions would be nice prior to confirming my booking.

Hotel needs a lot of updating. Room dusty and not clean and draft from window. Dirt in bath and water came out of the tap yellow! Receptionist was helpful though, and issued us with a refund. Could be ok if decor and cleanliness standards worked on, just wasn’t what we are used to.

Unfortunately not a place I’ll be returning to. Main issue was noise from other rooms through the very thin walls and ceiling. Had to resort to contacting receptionist near midnight on the evening of arrival to ask if they could do anything about the boisterous group in an adjoining room. Only after 2 visits did they disperse and could get some sleep. Woken both mornings to the sounds of the people in the room above and the man next door having a bath. Unfortunately the room cleanliness could be improved, with mould on the bathroom tiles, and on the window frames and net curtains, possibly a side effect of the central heating not working, and so having to use the supplied electric heater to warm the very cold room on arrival and throughout the stay. Whilst not the most expensive stay, would have hoped for more, for £86 a night.

Restaurant and Bar all ok but room was beyond awful. £137 for a tiny single bed in a room that would be outdated last century. Filthy windows, frames, carpets . Felt dirtier after staying here , than when I started. Please avoid at all costs. Greene King and Hotels.com have reached a new low. Time to find a new provider.

Rooms are very dated, but the building is old. Bathroom not the cleanest- shower head black with mould. Staff however were really friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was superb!

The room was very dated, large number of marks on the wallpaper potentially damp marks. Multiple items were broken in the room, including the door handle to the bathroom, toilet paper holder was snapped off the wall and also the hook on the back of the door was also broken off. The shower curtain with yellow on the bottom and the room smelt damp. The double glazing had also blown in the window and the window was locked closed with a piece of wood. Not great at all!! Thankfully it was only a quick visit and purely a bed to sleep in!

Dîner was great but the room was average with not a single straight angle which is not uncommon in old British pubs but the floor in my room was so slanted it was challenging not to hit a wall in the middle of the night. I think they have tried to redecorate the room at some point but the craftsmanship was poor to say the leat.

We had a superior room, it had 3 cracked window pains, was very hot, we could open 1 window very slightly as we had to jam something in it to keep it open, the general conduit of the room was bated and shabby, bed very uncomfortable. In check out was wasn’t asked about our stay or we would have spoken to someone. Not worth £155 per night

It was fine for 1 night .. our twin room was in the stables and had very small size singles .. we’re quite small so we’re ok for us.. but not full width single beds. Bathroom washbasin was cracked in 2 places, very old furniture in general it’s desperately in need of refurbishment. Linens were clean & mattresses comfortable & all amenities in the room like tea coffee hairdryer etc were good. Quiet at night & close to the centre of town. Best thing about the hotel was the friendly helpful staff who are clearly an asset .. would be lovely if they spent some money bringing the rooms up to standard

Average sized room with very small en-suite, decor and furniture were dark combined with high ceiling with a single light near window wall and table lamps gave an overall gloomy room. Wardrobe door hinge screws were loose and almost out of the wood. Bed was very comfortable. Single sash window was tight which prevented it being opened for adequate ventilation. Evening meal taken in the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was very good with sufficient choice and prompt service. Staff were helpful and any queries were dealt with. Overall our stay was good value for the amount charged.

Too noisy, we were told there was a function that would finish at midnight but the after effects carried on till 2 am. And we felt that the windows were damaged and dangerous but on a good point the bed was very comfortable

I stayed for one night, for convenience as the party I was going to was in the hotel. It all went very well, but it was so hot and there was no air conditioning other than a fan in the room. That is my only complaint though it was quiet, clean and breakfast was good and had great service

I'm not sure the property has been decorated in the last 30 years and the rooms are tired and in desperate need of investment. The restaurant and bar were also tired, damaged furniture, etc but the food, drink and staff were fine.

For a hotel that is over 300 years old it was excellent! The staff is brilliant and very lovely. We enjoyed our visit and Toni at the front desk was so caring and delightful! We would definitely stay there again. It was winter time on our vidit and would love to see the gardens in the spring.

Hotel side was OK. Restaurant was terrible. Dirty. Dirty glasses and greasy table. Told no space, then second one said tons of space. Bartender could not be bothered. Waitress was in a trance, did not offer drinks or condiments. Napkin stuck to table. Waitress gave up trying to remove it. No water. Glasses had milk rings. Food cold dried up and uneatable. No one to complain to. Waitress and deskstaff had disappeared. When we stood up to leave we had to go to bar to pay. Sorry I disturbed the bartender.

Very quiet and peacefil, especially for a town centre location. Staff polite and informative. Could do with a little attention to facilities, as shower over bath didn't work. But overall a very pleasant experience, will be booking again.

It was fine. It's not 5 star. It does not pretend to be, it's a very adequate, comfortable place to stay, with nice food and nice staff, plenty of parking well placed for the town centre, easy to get to the hotel, easy to walk round town

The weather was not the best which resulted in cold permeating the rooms. One room No 46 had cold air coming into the room which resulted in the room being very cold, the friendly staff moved me to another room which was better No 20. In both rooms the central heating went off early again resulting making the room cold which kept me awake throughout the night. The breakfast was awful, badly cooked eggs & sausages.

Rooms dirty. Damp coming through walls. Wallpaper coming off. No thermostats on radiator so couldn’t put heating on. Ripped curtains. Black mould on walls. Food in restaurant microwaved and not cooked fresh. The hotel is nothing like it is represented in photos

Room was comfortable but we could hear noise from the floor overhead. Food was excellent. We had a evening meal in the restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed. Waitress was lovely. A warm day but an open window was great and the hotel thoughtfully provided a fan. Overall a good stay.
