Nice room, recently refurbished bathroom, all lovely. Breakfast was included and cooked to order. Couple of things : Finding the car park was testing. The workings of the shower were also testing. And the toilet top plunger button had disappeared (in an otherwise lovely room). Didn't check out the bar.

Upon arrival, check in was straight forward. We got the keys to a room in the rear annex. As we entered the building it became evident that some rooms were undergoing renovation. Unfortunately not ours. When we got into the room there was no electricity and the sockets were not working. This is something that they sorted within 15 minutes. The radiator in the room had rust marks, the bathroom had mould on the ceiling and the toilet seat was loose. Having had a long drive we decided to have a rest but the workmen were that noisy, and they were working until 18:30. When we used the shower the following day, the shower head would not stick up. The view from the window was an overgrown grassed area. Although it seemed that we were lucky compared to the couple in the room next door whose floor was very wet. They had stayed before and said it’s a shame as the hotel used to be very nice. On a plus, the carpark was included in the fee.

Went for 1 night after our daughters wedding, room was comfy enough, although a bit dated and tired. Staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, and breakfast in morning was freshly made and superbly cooked. Only issues were a shower that seemed uncontrollable ( my wife could not get temperature right), and a noise outside, maybe an extractor going on and off during the night. Also, no food other than a panini at the bar in the afternoon, which was a bit nondescript and slightly burnt on the bottom! (Although they gave me a discount for that). Overall, just ok for one night, but still a lovely old building.

The rooms floors creaked with every single step and a level which is unacceptable. The shower did not work. No ventilation in the room so have to keep window open which then let’s all the noise in from below. Overall not a pleasant stay and won’t stay here again.

Excellent location as it was very close to shops, but unfortunately the place needed a lot of care and attention as it wasn’t clean and well looked after
