AP Maria Nova Lounge - Adults Friendly

Adults only. Room was nice and had everything we needed. Rooftop bar permitted children whiich is odd for a adults only hotel, explanation was rooftop bar is opened to public. Could have more staff in bar and in the restaurant at breakfast, some days tables not cleared. There is construction work right opposite rear of hotel where pool area is situated, which resulted in some very loud noise and dust. We were not made aware of this. We will ho back but when the construction work has finished. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Nice modern facilities. Pool and Turkish bath great. Historical area within walking distance. Construction outside our window was loud. Room could use a luggage rack and desk. Staff was friendly and spoke English well.

Highlight of the trip!! Amazing pool, beautiful rooftop bar, stunning lobby, extremely clean. Thank you so much for the hospitality and for such a wonderful stay.

Quiet child free hotel. Very modern with spa, pool, gym and roof top bar, restaurant, lounge. Lost a necklace somewhere in the hotel which was found by a cleaner and returned. Overall excellent.

Nesta altura do ano privilegiamos bastante o Spa e a piscina interior. Ambos estavam com temperaturas muito desagradáveis. É suposto termos conforto e bem estar no spa. As piscinas exteriores estavam completamente sujas sem hipótese de utilização. O pequeno almoço muito bom. Não volto a repetir.

There's a welcome drink at check in, which is a nice touch. Decent size room with a good size south facing balcony (worth the extra cost). Spacious and clean bathroom. Pool clean but totally very warm in October, despite the sunny weather. Plenty of sun loungers available. Pool access is through the gym though which is rather strange, or via reception on the floor above. The indoor pool is very small, short and narrow, ok to lounge about in, but you can't really swim. There is a sauna and steam room too, but these are also quite small. One annoying feature is that pool towels are only available at reception for a €10 deposit, annoying if you arrive at the spa and then have to go back up to reception on the floor above to get a towel. I don't know why this couldn't be done in the spa itself. Good choice at breakfast, especially the hot food selection, but the pastries are a poor, and not very well displayed, just thrown onto a plate. The dining room is also quite noisy being a hard floor, with chairs being moved etc. Piano player during breakfast is a nice touch, as is the sparkling wine. The roof bar is a great place in the evening, often with live music, food and snacks available too. During our stay one of the lifts was out of service for 5 days, meaning there was always a long wait. All in all, a good hotel with great facilities and also only 5 minutes walk to the town centre.

Overall a reasonably good hotel. Rooms are a little tired and the pool area could do with some TLC. The pool wasnt cleaned very well and was constantly full of dead flies so not very inviting. On 3 occasions the water went off in the hotel, this was invariably early evening when people wanted to shower. One time I was in the shower, covered in shampoo and soap, very inconvenient. Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was very good and the pianist playing at breakfast was a lovely touch.

Lovely well appointed Hotel and whilst we didn’t use the pool facilities both looked nice. Breakfast the next morning had a good selection of hot and cold food. We had access to the underground garage to securely store our bikes

This was a lovely hotel in a great central location for visiting Tavira. Although we did not take advantage of many facilities, the pool was excellent. Much larger and deeper than most city hotels and great for swimming. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the piano player every morning playing a great variety of easy listening music.

The staff were lovely, polite and very friendly. The hotel was spotless.

Rooms and hallways dirty

Property was exceptionally clean, however, to get to the pool was awkward and no iron or ironing board provided on request. Staff were friendly

Grundsätzlich ein sehr schönes Hotel. Das Frühstück war super mit einer tollen Auswahl. Auch das Zimmer war sauber. Allerdings sind es Kleinigkeiten, die es dann doch abwerten. Die Gardinen hang nicht in allen Ösen fest, die Elektrik kam aus der Wand, das Holz an den Türen war abgesplittert. Dingen die schnell zu beheben sind und nicht direkt auffallen.

The hotel overall amenities are great! Everything looks new. Staff is great and very courteous. Only thing is that they could be more careful with cleaning - lobby and room bathrooms. Towels were clean, but ripped at the bottom, which is unnecessary in a 4-star hotel…

Lovely roof top bar & pleasant staff, breakfast decent. Hotel rooms where dated, mold in shower, dirt on floors & strange odour in room. Also construction outside room ment balcony was unusable. This hotel has seen better days.

The room we were first assigned had a terrible smell of mold. My wife is allergic and it immediately triggered her allergy so she had a hard time breathing. The bathroom was dark with mold, and the room also looked very worn and in bad shape. After some discussion, we were offered another room, exactly the same size, but overlooking the pool, for a 20€ upgrade fee. This room did not have a mold issue, and the rest of the stay was ok. Service was friendly, but this is not what we expected...

A lovely hotel in the most beautiful résort. Rooms were nice and clean, comfortable bed and pillows. Pool area spotlessly clean and plenty of Sun loungers. Breakfast was delicious All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We are planning to return to Tavira in the future and will stay again at the Maria Nova.

Hotel rooms seem tired and worn. Could really use a freshening up. Limited amenities in the bathrooms. Rooms were dirty with many scuff marks on the walls. No coffee machine or coffee in the room. Only instant coffee and kettle. Mini fridge in the closet kept over heating so we had to keep the closet door open. Safety deposit batteries not checked so staff had to repair same in our first day. The staff at check in were rude and stand offish. The welcome drink was nice but we felt very rushed and unwelcome. We went to the roof bar one night and three times we asked for drink and snack menu from staff. No one ever did return to take our order. After 20 mins waiting we left as there was no service from any of the staff who were too busy on their phones. Hardly any other patrons on the roof bar but the staff couldn’t be bothered to serve us? Main plus for this tired hotel was the pool. Well maintained and good service at pool bar. For the money you spend here we expected much better service and quality and it sadly lacked all of it. Parking underground is limited and will cost 5euros per day but worth it if you can get one. Breakfast buffet was lovely but the coffee (espresso) etc is HORRID! Get better coffee please. Upon check out today not even a thank you or hoped you enjoyed your stay from the two men on the desk. Also a note, that as of Sept 2024 there is a major construction project happening right next door to this hotel & there is a lot is dust from same.Overall poor!

Great location and views. Staff very friendly. Breakfast is just okay. Looks great, but overall food and flavors are fair. Stayed in a suite which we liked, but could use some TLC. Regular rooms are small, but nice. WiFi is the worst. I am happy to recommend a stay, but go somewhere else for breakfast and have a good international cellular plan.

Everything was great until we decided to sleep. There was constant furniture moving noises for 2 hours from 11pm that kept us awake from the restaurant above. A call to the front desk at 1am did remedy the problem. More attention to noise control would be appreciated in the future.

hotel reasonably nice/well located- easy walking distance of town but the promised room with a nice view was infact a view overlooking an active building site we discovered when we woke the night after arriving late...

This was a beautiful hotel that is fairly new. My husband and I stayed 3 nights and the service was good. The only complaint would be the beds. We found the beds to be sagging in the middle already and the quality of the pillows were not good at all. The rest of the hotel was fabulous.

Our room needed updated, fridge was useless as it didn't go below 14 deg C even with the cabinet door open where the fridge was housed. Balcony door was really hard to slide open and didn't lock when closed. F

The bed was not comfortable as it’s a very hard mattress.

We enjoyed our stay,unfortunately the bedroom was a bit warm and we found it hard to regulate. Breakfast was good and most staff were very friendly. The 4 th floor bar is very good

The hotel is a good standard and an easy walk to the town and amenities. The breakfast choice and quality of the food was excellent and staff service is friendly and efficient. The pool area was also excellent with plenty of loungers available. The pool bar needs more staff to make it run more efficiently so don't go there if you want a quick bite of lunch. The gym is well equipped but there is too much equipment and needs to be rearranged to make more space for floor work. The roof top bar is also very good and a good place for a night cap. All in a very good hotel.

This was our second stay at Maria Nova. All the staff are friendly, welcoming and hard working. Rooms are adequate and cleaned most days. Breakfast is very good considering it’s included in stay. Although hotel is beginning to look a little tired around edges. I think it is very well priced and should meet most people’s expectations.

It was very enjoyable free drink on arrival and a complimentary bottle of wine on both arrival and departure. Short walk to the centre of Tavira well be back

Disappointing Stay at AP Maria Nova Lounge" I'm writing to express my extreme disappointment with my recent stay at the AP Maria Nova Lounge in Tavira. The service I received fell far below expectations, especially considering the price point. Our experience began poorly when we were asked to carry our own snacks from the restaurant to the pool, despite requesting poolside service. The 8-course New Year's Eve dinner was a complete disaster. Not a single dish was served at the correct temperature, and the wine pairing was subpar. When we inquired about a digestif, we were initially told it would be an extra charge, only to be denied the option altogether. However, I was able to purchase a cognac at the snack bar. The hotel itself appears outdated, and the service reflects this. The minibar was empty upon arrival, and the welcome drink was handed to us at the check-out desk, forcing us to carry it and our luggage up to our room. Overall, my stay at the AP Maria Nova Lounge was a major letdown. The poor service, subpar food, and outdated facilities do not justify the high prices. I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel.

We had a very pleasant stay here. The hotel was clean, tidy and well maintained, the service at reception was good, the food and service at the restaurant was excellent, we were HB, never had a bad meal. The service at the pool bar and restaurant was very good. Our room was big, comfortable, however we arrived at 9.30pm and the additional quilt we had requested and agreed by the hotel for a guest with very bad arthritis was not provided (in house management issue), this issue eventually sorted and bed made by guests. We used the terrace bar one evening but had to wait 30 minutes for 1 beer and 1 soft drink while cocktails took priority, we did not use that bar again (I note it was an issue previously raised - management should monitor and provide assistance and not merely make platitudes in reply to reviews). Local area, there is a landscaping protect being undertaken at the back of the hotel, at times it was both noisy and dusty by the poolside, however it was noted the project site were constantly damping the area throughout the day. All in all we had a nice stay at this hotel just a shame about the arrival and the bar. The external issue is clearly outside of the hotels control. Tavira, a lovely ancient town, is undergoing much renovation work " very slowly!" There are many restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk of the hotel but there is no noisy night life. Although I have mentioned a couple of negative areas we had a lovely stay and would happily return.

The hotel is well located in Tavira, far away enough from the town although it is but a 5 minute walk away. Check in was straightforward, staff were friendly and polite. The hotel room is clean and in decent condition although a bit dated. The beds were comfortable. The balcony was a plus in the evenings, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the breeze. The poolside environment is relaxed with plenty of deckchairs and a good poolside bar. In the evening the rooftop bar and restaurant has live music. We went for drinks and snacks and it was chilled out although service could be a little slow at times due to number of guests. It was great value for the location and with excellent access to Tavira town centre. We would recommend it for a holiday in Tavira.

We spent one night in Tavira and this hotel was perfect. We were greeted by amazing staff and a complimentary glass of wine. The hotel was a quick walk away from the things we wanted to see in town. The pool area was lovely and the room was perfect for our stay. Breakfast was incredible with a pianist and so much selection at the buffet. The bar/restaurant on the roof had the most amazing views and I would recommend for a sunset drink. Unfortunately the dinner was not great. Overall I think this hotel was amazing

This property was excellent but our balcony overlooked a building site which started work on 2 mornings at 8am. Not a major issue but would not have booked this hotel had I known.Would be happy to return once work complete.

Nice hotel on a hill overlooking the city. Beautiful view from the rooftop bar/restaurant. Nice pool and great breakfast. Walkable to attractions and restaurants if ok with lots of hills and stairs. Tavira is a beautiful quiet city - highly recommend and if you like the beach, Ilha Tavira is amazing.

This hotel is in a great location - there are some fantastic restaurants 5 minutes away. There is a building site next door which makes sitting by the outdoor pool not as enjoyable but I only stayed two nights and it didn’t bother me. The staff are really lovely and helpful.

Excellent location, five minutes walk from the centre of town. Immaculately clean, wonderful staff, beautiful pools. The east facing rooms over the pool get the most fantastic sunrises. Bathroom shower pressure is really powerful, a definite bonus. Top floor bar and tapas to die for. We'd return quite happily.

Perfect place to stay in Tavira. Walkable to anything, can’t beat the view. Lovely staff, wonderful amenities.

Smooth check in with a welcome glass of wine. Slick, modern property, welcoming staff and excellent location in Tavira. Easy walk everywhere. Didn't use the pool but looked wonderful.

Close to town.

Brilliant location. It is up a hill, but no problem for us. Tavira is a quiet village, away from all the the hustle bustle. Beach is a nice, short, boat ride away. You get the boat from across the river. Breakfast was lovely, pianist every morning. There is coach station across the river but we had a car. Parked on the street at the front for free. Nice restaurants and local shops all around, more across the river. Had lovely food everywhere. Good supermarket, 10 to 15 mins walk. Nice, inside, shopping mall about 20 mins walk. I went a few times as there was sales on, bought some nice clothes and shoes. It is our 2nd stay. We will be back.

The hotel was in a great location for walking into town. The staff were excellent. Our room provided all we required and was cleaned regularly and bedding and towels changed during our 8 night stay. However the fridge did not keep particularly cold and it would be helpful to have a freezer section for ice. The pool was a very good size but the sunbeds were dated. Overall we felt the hotel could do with updating. Although the breakfast provided many different options our feeling was that some could be better quality. The orange juice was watery (it did not help that nearly half the dispenser was ice so as that melted it became weaker!). We had seen several reviews before our stay mentioning this (especially when there are oranges growing locally!) and staff commented they’d look into this yet obviously nothing has been done. The bread and coffee were also poor. It does not appear you can book a room without breakfast which we would prefer in view of these aspects. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would book again.

Unfriendly staff, charge you for towels for a simple room change and the restaurant gave me food poisoning
