Golden Nugget Lake Tahoe

We got the the hotel the registration clerk gave us 2 keys and said keep one to park. My husband parked and said its $25 a night to park. That is crazy. We went to our room which was nice and had a lake,golf course,pool view. They had 2 bottled waters in the room and had a tag $2.00 each. They can't give their guests some bottles of water? We had two light snacks at bean & bread I asked for a cup of water with ice $1.61. While gambling you're told you must have atleast $20 in machine to get a free drink. Housecleaning does not clean your room and restock it daily, you must request it. Saltgrass steak house was good,service good. When leaving we paid more then $100 on the price originally quoted taxes,fees and more. i would stay at a vrbo or Airbnb it would save us a lot of the b s. charges. What happened to tahoe casino's?

Property is under construction and website does not inform you. Pool is always closed, reason we stayed here was because of pool. Yet you still get charged a resort fee. Will never stay here again. It’s always the same story with this hotel. They are always Working On It.

Terrible hotel. Rude staff. Pool closed. Construction mess everywhere.

Property is under a lot of construction. Most all amenities were unavailable. I think the price of the two rooms we booked should have reflected that. Pool was not useable, no valet, most of the restaurants/cafes were not open yet but yet we paid the resort fee. Good location but give the customer what is fair.

Resort fees on top and parking fees. Nice area close to Nevada Beach but got charged fees for casino when we didnt even use it.

It was very loud with construction,and the hot water took forever to get hot.The oyster bar wasn't there,the sports betting wasn't there,I wish I had stayed somewhere else to be completely honest.

They have a scam to get extra money from all incoming guests…they have your room ready and charge you to get it prior to 4pm check in. I got to the hotel at 3:15 and they charged an extra $25 to check in prior to 4pm. Most if not ALL hotels have an 3pm check in and are happy to get you in if they can early, this hotel clearly sees it as an opportunity to add to the bottom line. Hotel itself is nothing more than the previous run down Hard Rock hotel with a name change. If they want to charge extra they should offer Extra. Hotel was under construction and didn’t have many choices for food. Unfortunate since I was initially happy to see this Hotel was making a home in SLT after positive experiences at Vegas location. I won’t return to this location.

Front desk or bell service, no one picks up the phone. Had to go downstairs to front desk. Wink and bathroom tub would not drain. Dirty towels with hair on it.

This hotel has a bad stench to it as soon as you walk in. I’m not talking about the cigarettes either the carpet / mat they have by the door where you come in with your luggage hasn’t been washed in I don’t even know how long. The hotel room had a broken tv stand with no extra blankets in the room, microwave fridge etc we had to ask for extra blankets and were told we have a extra comforter we can give you but then when they brought it the comforter had a hole in it with stuffing coming out of it the tv stand was hanging on by a thread we had to request a fridge and were told theirs not a singular microwave in the whole hotel. The walls in the bathroom were also dirty and it was such a small space getting ready wasn’t even possible in it. Overall not a good experience if you just want to gamble drop your stuff off and don’t care about cleanliness or anything then it’s an ok spot otherwise do not waste your time or money

The hotel was not clean and under some sort of construction. We also got bed bugs and the staff has taken several weeks to get back to us. Terrible!

The ice machines were not working, the toilet was clogged, and nobody came. After calling countless times, the room was dirty. There was hair in the bathtub and fingerprints all over the furniture, the blinds were broke, the closet was hard to open and close, the water was cold and would not get hot, the elevators took forever to go up and down and we’re extremely hot and stinky inside. Every person in the elevator said the same thing about their rooms, the ice machine, and the cleanliness of the place.

Impossible to get ahold of anyone when things were needed, blow dryer, didn’t work, carpet was stained and dirty, elevators slow and lights didn’t work.

This was a great property, I understand they are in the middle of remodeling but we ended up with a room right behind the elevators. It sounded like metal shovels trying to shovel snow all night. We didnt ask to be moved etc. just be aware if you stay during the remodel stay away from a room by the elevators!

Nice updated rooms, comfy bed and nice shower

We stayed in the Sunset tower which was recently renovated. It was very clean and comfortable. There's still quite a bit of construction going on throughout the hotel grounds.

We stayed in a renovated room & it was beautiful. Nice size, the bed & pillows were very comfortable & it had a big tv. The bathroom was gorgeous & spacious. They have beautiful & delicious restaurants but they do not have a restaurant that serves breakfast which we wished they had. I also wish the staff at the check-in/out counter had more knowledgeable & information about breakfast restaurants in the area that they could’ve referred us to. That would’ve been very helpful. That was the only negative. Other than that this was a great & very nice hotel/casino. We would definitely stay again.

Bed was not confortable, I could not even sit at the edge of the bed because it sinks. No fridge, no storage for clothing.

The staff were very nice and the only positive about this property. My room was very dated. It did have fresh paint, but was not done neatly and was on furniture, curtains, and all switch plates. There was a sliding glass door, which opened, but no patio - on the 15th floor. It was screwed to keep it from fully opening but I’d consider it dangerous for kids. The thermostat had a plaque underneath it which explained the hotel controlled whether to have the heat or air conditioning on and to use your window, or dangerous sliding glass door, to regulate the temp. The thermostat only turned on a fan, which blew out the temp the hotel deemed appropriate. My shower did not drain properly, and was ankle deep with water while using. The bed was also very lumpy and had wells on each side from use. To top it all off, the property is under construction on the entire first floor. I wouldn’t stay at this property again. Remodeling, cosmetic updates, and furniture are needed, but won’t help with big issues - heating, air conditioning, plumbing, windows.

This hotel was ok we stayed in a tower that had yet to be renovated so there was a heavy old stale smoke smell all throughout the elevator and hallway, but the room smelled ok. Our view from our room was beautiful as well. We were disappointed because we had booked a king room but when we got there we were told they did not have any available due to capacity so we were given a double queen. All in all it was an OK stay for one night, and the price was right. Walking distance to the concert venue is major plus.

Soundproofing between rooms was terrible, even in the renovated rooms. The property is apparently pet friendly but the downside is listening to dogs barking all the time because the owners don’t know how to control their pets. Everything passes through the walls.

Room was noisy due to central fan which was very loud. The bed was very uncomfortable.

The property was transitioned over to GN. You can tell they’re doing renovations. Our stay was good. Location proximity was near Stateline, allowing us to see both sides of the south of Lake Tahoe. Staff was easy to work with. We would’ve liked our room to be serviced more than once for our four night stay. We were able to get clean towels daily by requesting. Pay to park was not correctly explained to us, so the charges were a surprise. We would give SLT GN another chance in the future.

Not complete customer service poor need to train staff. When questions asked received no answer. I stayed for 8 days and housing service terrible and only came once when asked 3 days in a row. Left on hold for 15 minutes with front desk inquiring on housekeeping service

Nice place, do try and get in after 6pm as from 4 to 5pm there is a line out the door for check in. So take your time.

Karen at the front desk was excellent and so was her manager. We had to request cleanings multiple times and it wasn't even done the second day.

We did not encounter a single friendly or helpful employee during our stay. We will never stay at the Golden Nugget again.

Staff was very accommodating

90% of staff we interacted with was not friendly. Front desk doesn’t answer the phone. Called multiple times for toilet paper. Walked down to the front desk asked for toilet paper. Finally had to find a maids cart in the hallway to grab myself toilet paper. Oven was broke in the coffee store. Toilet and tub flooded. Extremely hot in the hotel and casino. Was not aware or renovation and pool was closed.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. My family booked two rooms for a quick 24-hour getaway, and instead of enjoying our trip, we spent it stressed and upset. Check-in took over an hour with three young children crying in the lobby. The front desk clerk actually left for a lunch break in the middle of our check-in, and the manager struggled to sort out their own booking system errors with no urgency or empathy. The worst part was an employee named Tommi Harris, who yelled at me in front of other guests when I asked how much longer it would take. His attitude was hostile, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable — instead of helping, he made everything worse and left me feeling harassed and embarrassed. Once we finally got into the rooms, things didn’t improve. The shower had no soap, and when I called the front desk for help, I was put on hold for 10+ minutes and never received assistance. I had no choice but to bathe my kids with just water. We stayed less than 24 hours, and our entire trip was ruined by poor service, unprofessional staff, and basic hospitality failures. Management never responded to my email either, which says a lot about how little they care. I strongly do not recommend this hotel. Save yourself the stress and stay anywhere else.

Stayed with my best friend for our 20 year High School reunion Sept 25’! Growing up in Tahoe, we have had family members work here and we have seen this property change hands many times! You can still see that they are transitioning from Hard Rock to Golden Nugget, but our stay was great! We had a gorgeous view, comfortable amenities and close proximity to downtown and not far from so many beautiful beaches! Great location!

Golden Nugget is in a great location - it was an easy walk to the concert event we were in town to attend. Room was big, clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was responsive and helpful. Parking was easy. Our lunch at Saltgrass Steak House was delicious in a wonderful atmosphere. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back.

Great hotel, close to everything

Stayed the week last week of June 2025, so I'm hoping more has been done but they are still doing construction converting this property from Hard Rock to Golden Nugget. There are signs everywhere that say "renovated rooms" etc but that was only for 1 wing. Our wing and room still had rock n'roll memorabilia which wasn't a bad thing. But that also meant old outdated rooms. Our room was large and comfortable but A/C wouldn't go lower than 75. Our lights in the room didn't also didn't work. I went and spoke to front desk and gave them permission to enter room. When we came back room was still hot and light still didn't work. The pool had just "re-opened". 95 degrees and hot sun with only 1 umbrella (lifeguard chair) to be found. We opened up the umbrella and 15 of us huddle in whatever shade we could find, looking like damn vampires. I understand all their pool furniture was to around in a week or so. So if your reading this check. Gambling: like every other casino in South Lake, high minimum tables $25-$100 Blackjack, so I never played at GN. Food: + They have a Saltgrass Steakhouse. Food and drink were good and what you expect of a chain. Huge minus: The oyster bar. After 45 min wait we were seated. Flavor overall was good on ciopinno, roasts, bouillabaisse, and clam chowder. But the seafood is grotesquely over-cooked. Mussels with meat the size of my pinky nail, just dried out, all the shrimp as hard as rubber and shrunk down to size of a quarter.

Hotel room was amazing. Had a lake view. The restaurants were good for dinner, but could not find any restaurant or café for breakfast, but other than that everything was to our satisfaction.

It was okay. For the price, you would definitely expect more. There's no fridge in the room, and the ice machine was broken on our floor. Then we tried to order room service because there was a button for it on the phone. Guess what? No room service anymore, and the person who answered the phone just laughed it off that there was still a button on the phone. For $460 a night with fees and parking, it seems like there would have been mode amenities. Instead, it really felt like a basic hotel experience.

Food options were limited to Salt Grass, Bean and Bread and The Oyster Bar. Food was fair but service was slow. Bed was comfortable but the pillows were very large and fluffy. Pillows made your neck stay at an odd angle. Kind of painful.

Room was okay but communication about fees at check in was very poor and the front hotel staff were rude. Dining during construction is very limited, the steakhouse wouldn’t let you order to-go if you had a minor with you because the order could only be taken at the bar and their quick bites coffee shop only makes food for a limited time so once it’s gone, it’s gone and you can’t order anything else on the menu. There are no other options for food unless you walk to another hotel or down the street and they don’t have any kind of room service. Pool must have a life guard on duty in order to be open, there is no swimming at your own risk, which made for some pretty bummed kids when the pool wasn’t open because there was no lifeguard. Won’t stay here again due to the fact the staff was not accommodating and not very friendly.
