We didn't realise we needed to pre-book parking and the lot was full, so we parked on the large car park next door but had to pay via the Easypark app. The hotel location and views are fabulous. Breakfast was good, good selection and very comfortable experience. The hotel has a bar and some snack available from reception too.

Property is in a great location. Very good breakfast buffet. Rooms needs updating. Half the staff could have been friendlier. Crazy that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evening in the busiest week of the year.

Unser Familienzimmer war sauber und es gab ein sehr gutes Frühstücksbuffet. Die Aussicht ging direkt auf die Tromsöbrua. Der Preis von 175 Euro pro Nacht ist etwas überhöht auch wenn man die norwegischen Verhältnisse zu Grunde legt. Außerdem gibt es nur wenige hoteleigene Parkplätze und der städtische Parkplatz vor dem Hotel ist sehr teuer. Ich hatte eine Knieverletzung und habe daher zähneknirschend für die eine Nacht 32 Euro bezahlt, weil ich die Koffer nicht durch die Stadt fahren wollte. Beim nächsten Mal würde ich nach dem Flug direkt abends noch von Tromsö nach Sommaroy fahren und dort gleich die erste Nacht verbringen. Die Fahrzeit ist nur eine Stunde.

I visit Tromsø regularly but this was my first time at the Ishavshotel. Although I enjoyed my stay there'll not be a repeat. On arrival there were about 15 people waiting to check-in with just one receptionist. Check-in took around 25 minutes. The same evening I was told the restaurant was closed. So no dinner.The following evening the restaurant was open but "fully booked" with lots of empty tables and no discernable sense of urgency. Dinner was a pre-packed sandwich from the shop in reception. A novel experience at breakfast was queueing for the coffee machine, of which there was just the one. A slow one. So there was a line of around 6 people, some making 2 cups. Patience is a virtue, at the Ishavshotel it is a pre-requisite. On the plus side, the views are breathtaking, the staff are delightful, the rooms are reasonably comfortable, the showers are powerful and breakfast is OK and plentiful. The hotel is in the same price class as the 5 star Grand in Oslo. Enough said.

Great hotel. Great location. Awesome breakfast buffet. Friendly and professional staff. You just reserve parking as hotel spots are limited. But there is plenty of public parking around, though you must keep paying in the app. and not forget to renew time.

Location is good. If you can get a room with a view that is nice. After that things start to go down hill. Parking is limited and expensive if you get a spot. Service is OK at best for front desk. Service at the restaurant is awful and dinner there was terrible. There are much better hotels close by for same price range but better quality and service.

Great location as by the water with views of the bridge. Lovely breakfast buffet. Dinner buffet also nice but quite expensive. Bar not very atmospheric. No Rooftop bar or outside area to watch for the Northern Lights.

They didnt clean the room properly or at all (we stayed for 2 days). The conditioner bottle was fixed to the wall with some kind of glue - fell off the wall immediately. On top of this, the reception staff didnt greet us whenever we returned to the hotel. They didnt even look up (happened every time). I think in the hospitality industry that is basic level of courtesy.

Udsigten fra værelset og hotellets beliggenhed var intet mindre end fantastisk – helt klart opholdets største styrke og noget, der i sig selv er anbefalelsesværdigt. Desværre blev helhedsoplevelsen trukket markant ned af flere forhold. Ved check-in oplevede vi et personale, der var alt andet end imødekommende. Vi ankom lidt før tid og fik at vide, at vi kunne betale for at checke ind tidligere – hvilket i sig selv er fair nok – men måden det blev formidlet på, kunne have været venligere. Også i restauranten blev vi mødt af et surt personale. Vi ville bestille noget at spise, mens vi ventede på indcheckning, men blev bedt om at gå, da en virksomhed tilsyneladende havde højere prioritet end almindelige gæster. Super. Værelset var lidt beskidt, og sengen var alt for blød. Alt i alt vil jeg dog gerne anbefale hotellet for den helt suveræne udsigt og beliggenheden. Men kom ikke før officiel indtjekning starter, og vær forberedt på, at både seng og rengøring kan skuffe - og at du prioriteres lavere end virksomheder.

Værelset havde en fantastisk udsigt, men levede ikke op til billederne, var slidt og beskidt. Man skulle bestille rengøring - to gange kom de ikke og en tredje gang tømte de kun affaldet. Morgenmaden var dejlig - lokalet kunne godt trænge til en god rengøring. Personalet var venlige og hjælpsomme. Hotellet ligger rigtig godt placeret for en hygge tur til Tromsø - mange lækre restauranter i nærheden.

Vi hadde et fint opphold i Tromsø. Rommene var bra, men det var dårlig renhold. D3t var mye støv langs gulvlistene, og søpla på badet var ikke tømt. Hyggelig personell og god servise. Som plaster på såret for dårlig renhold fikk vi refundert 1 frokost.

I didn't much enjoy the Christmas party with the dueling bands in the party rooms that I could hear on the 6th floor as well as having to push through the party crowd in the lobby to get to the elevators. That's the only complaint I have. View was excellent. Location was great.

I loved the large window and couch I had in my room, overlooking the mountains and the sea. I was on the top floor. Breakfast is amazing, so much choice for all tastes, and so many Norwegian foods to try. The bed was very good, but I found the storage area (wardrobe, cupboard, drawers) a bit minimal. I also found that the temperature in the room was a bit too hot for me, and I ended up sleeping with the window open. Some of the reception staff were very friendly, some not so much.

Everything is mediocre but no much choices in Tromso town center unfortunately. The building and interiors are quite out-dated different from the photos online by the hotel and even by the travellers. Nonetheless, the hotel got the best view of the town.

We got booked into a view with a gorgeous view of the harbour, could see the Artic Cathedral and the Tromso Bridge. The hotel is probably in the best location in town, our Northern Lights tour picked up from right outside, food, shopping, grocery stores all walkable. But the room itself was a bit odd, I've never been in a hotel where there was no phone to call the front desk! My shower soap dispenser was broken and I put in requests manually to the front desk and again the next morning to housekeeping who I bumped into in the hall in the morning, but it was never replaced. I had to unscrew the pump from the handsoap dispenser and use that.

Veldig bra frokost. Men det er alt for varmt på rommet uten mulighet for å kjøle ned rommet. Senga på ene siden var skjeiv, antagelig madrassen som var utslitt på kanten.

I loved the large window and couch I had in my room, overlooking the mountains and the sea. I was on the top floor. Fabulous location with excellent rooms and breakfast. Staff were always helpful even when stressed - see below. The only bugbears are the tiny reception area combined with only ever having one member of staff on duty - this often got unmanageable and meant a long wait to speak to the reception person while others were interrupting as things were slow.

It was underwhelming. Not enough front desk staff or space to handle groups, making the entrance crowded just to enter / leave the hotel and causing long lines if you needed to check in. Rooms not ready until well after 3p and more than 1 had an unpleasant smell. Front desk couldn't find our laundry days after we had dropped it off, causing us to wait for multiple hours before we could leave. Rooms (other than odor) and breakfast were fine.

Terrible service at reception. No smile, no hellos, no help rendered at all. As we reached the hotel early and asked if we could deposit our luggages first, the guy at the reception just grunted at the luggage room and indicated for us to help ourselves. To our horror, the luggage room was full to the brim and we had to find other corners in the hotel to leave our luggages. No help or additional info provided by the receptionist at all, even though he could see our struggles right next to the reception counter.

The hotel is very well located with a view of the harbor and easy access to the downtown area. It's a great place to spend the night before flying out since it's close to the airport (well, most of Tromso is close to the airport. it's very small).

So glad we chose this hotel. Great accommodations!!Everything was neat and clean. Incredible breakfast that came with the stay. The food accommodated so many people from so many countries. I have never seen a free breakfast spread like this before. Our tours met at the hotel or close by the hotel. Close to shops and dining. Easy to walk to and get to everything. I would highly recommend and I would stay there again!!

We had a great stay at the Scandic Ishavshotel. After a lot of debate about which hotel to pick we are really pleased with our choice. The location is brilliant - close access to every location and the bus routes. The view from the room is absolutely stunning and the breakfast is delicious any day. We dropped a point for the fact that it is phenomenally busy with a big turn over of guests so we struggled to get a seat at breakfast each morning. We did notice this big turnover also meant that although lovely and friendly the staff didn’t engage as much with guests as they would with a smaller hotel - this isn’t a fault though, more a preference. Can highly recommend for a trip to Tromso.

I visit Tromsø regularly but this was my first time at the Ishavshotel. Although I enjoyed my stay there'll not be a repeat. On arrival there were about 15 people waiting to check-in with just one receptionist. Check-in took around 25 minutes. The same evening I was told the restaurant was closed. So no dinner.The following evening the restaurant was open but "fully booked" with lots of empty tables and no discernable sense of urgency. Dinner was a pre-packed sandwich from the shop in reception. A novel experience at breakfast was queueing for the coffee machine, of which there was just the one. A slow one. So there was a line of around 6 people, some making 2 cups. Patience is a virtue, at the Ishavshotel it is a pre-requisite. On the plus side, the views are breathtaking, the staff are delightful, the rooms are reasonably comfortable, the showers are powerful and breakfast is OK and plentiful. The hotel is in the same price class as the 5 star Grand in Oslo. Enough said.
