Refborg Hotel

This was my third stay at the Refborg. In response to other reviews, I can confirm that this is an historic property maintained by a small, dedicated and very friendly staff who know the quirks of the property. Room layout and shower/bathroom size varies with each room. You will have plenty of hot water and great water pressure if you understand how to operate the knobs in the shower. Ask for help if it is confusing. You will have standard Danish beds which have separate bases that serve as the mattress, with a topper. This is the norm, and quite comfortable, but may not feel cushiony if you are not used to it. You can always request more pillows to use as body pillows if you wish. The windows all open in a variety of positions. Ask for assistance if you are not sure how to operate them. Air conditioning is not common in Denmark. In summer, open your windows at night, close the shades for the day to lessen heat. The Refborg provides fans to circulate air for comfort. One day may be warm/hot, with the next much cooler. If you are uncomfortable. know the weather will soon change. The rooms at the Refborg are ample for a single, cozy for a couple, a little more cozy for families. Utilize the community room and lounge area outside it for more play space. A fridge and microwave is there for your use too. If something just doesn't feel right, speak to the staff. I have gotten to know many of them well and know they will always do their best to help make your stay feel like home.

The hotel has no elevators for our second floor room access. The rooms are small with a double bed and a bunk bed that left no room to open up our suitcases. They booked a loud party below our room that went on until 3:00 AM. We were charged an extra fee at checkout for using our VISA card. Breakfast was very good. Location is good with an excellent supermarket across the street and walking distance to Leggo House.

Very nice small hotel which is very close to everything in town and convenient, lots of little shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk. It is a very short walk to Lego House and also easily walkable to Legoland. Has a cute store attached. The breakfast food was simple but nice. Coffee options could be a bit better.

Wonderful little inn with nice amenities. Little store is perfect for picking up a little snack. Breakfast was great. Only regret that we didn't try the restaurant. It smelled wonderful when we walked by.

Really friendly hotel conveniently located for Lego House and transport to other local attractions. The hotel is lovely, very friendly and with a nice (but small selection) of food for breakfast. The restaurant was amazing and portions very generous. The room was on the smaller side and quite minimalist but had everything needed for a short family trip and the hotel offers an indoor play space and other communal spaces to relax.

Great location. Room was very comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant (not part of our rate) was excellent. Breakfast (included) was good. Grocery store right next door. There’s a communal fridge and microwave.

There is a supermarket right next to the hotel, which makes food shopping very convenient. The hotel does not have an elevator so visitors beware. The breakfast selection is small but reasonable. Overall, a pleasant stay.

A smaller cosy hotel within walking distanse to Legoland (1,5km). Friendly staff both in house keeping, breakfast and reception. The soaps and body cream from Karameju are great! Great family room (DBL bed + pull out sofa) + large bathroom (room 25). Their "gift shop" is like a small boutique delicacy with lots of nice brands and products. Second time staying here, would come again.

I have stayed at the Refborg before, and have found it to be continually comfortable and convenient. Keep in mind that you must be able to use stairs to reach your room, though there is an easier flight of stairs at the back of the property if the curved stairway seems daunting. There is help available if you need assistance with your luggage. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, with radiator heat the is self adjustable, windows which open for fresh air, plenty of hot water and pressure in the shower, a cozy comforter for each bed, and plenty of pillows. Each room also has a small TV, an electric teapot with a selection of teas, and instant coffee. There is a community room with a refrigerator if you require a place for food items, or more room for relaxing. Room layouts vary depending on what you book. Some have two areas for bedroom and the other for a couch, table and desk area. All have well equipped bathrooms and roomy dresser drawers and an area for hanging coats, and other clothing. I for one appreciate that the rooms are not cluttered up with too much decor. The clean simplicity made my stay restful and easy. Thank you Refborg. I will return!

Hotel is central in Billund, has spacious rooms. Beds are hard and bathroom is old standard. This time I had a bathroom with a strong smell of sewer/ damp. Otherwise a clean and friendly hotel. Staff is very helpful and nice. Resturant has nice food.

Perfekt plassering i gåavstand til både Lego House og Legoland. Fint hotel med mye potensiale, men dessverre veldig slitt. Hadde virkelig trengt en oppussing.

We had a family room for 4 booked for 2 nights, as we were only visiting LEGO house but the room was too small for 4 people, and it felt very claustrophobic! There was a bit of mould and dust by the windows too. Breakfast was good enough, and the staff helped us book a taxi to Vejle train station. Overall, not a bad place to stay but only for a short visit.

The staff is really nice and dining accommodated my celiac needs. The room was nice with French doors that we kept open during the Lightning & Thunder storm that night. They do need to do more repairs in our room as the carpet needs to be replaced as a smell of mildew was in one corner. We would stay there again.

Trevligt hotell centralt i billund. En enkel frukost. Saknade grönsaker och pannkakor. Rummen var rymliga, dock så bodde det silverfisk i lampan i badrummet (flera stycken) det kändes inte helt fräscht.

Værelserne fremstår lidt slidte - specielt badeværelsesgulv og tæpperne på selve værelset. Det ER sikkert rent, men det virker lidt "nusset" fordi det er så slidt. Men det er ok til prisen. Hotellets personale får til gengæld alle mine stjerner, fra reception til restaurant - alle med kæmpe smil og meget højt serviceniveau. Morgenmaden var rigtig fin - aftensmaden i Spiseriet uovertruffen lækker. God gedigen dansk mad - lækkert tilberedt. Beliggenheden er perfekt - kort til byen, men helt uden larm fra trafik (boede dog også mod gården)

Der stod vand i brusekabinen fra den tidligere gæst. Ikke særlig lækkert med fodbad i en anden gæsts beskidte badevand. Værelset fremstår slidt ok jeg synes ikke at det matcher prisen.

5 star all the way! Our room was cozy and clean clean clean .The beds were extra comfy with nice down duvets. The staff were so nice and so friendly. Our waitress told us a little about the hotel which was very interesting . The Restaurant was our highlight of our stay .. from the homemade bread and the delicious butter ! I had the most amazing steak with homemade potatoes with glazed carrots and vegetables. I had the best steak I have ever eaten .We can’t wait to stay there again ! And so convenient to get to the airport. I might add there is a grocery store right next door. Thank you for a great experience! The hotel is very well located, few steps from Billund city centre and Lego House. The staff is amaizing. Very clean and nice atmosphere. The hotel needs some updates, but overall was a nice experience.

Staff on reception quite disinterested when we checked in, I even had to ask where we had to go to find our room and when breakfast was as none of this information was volunteered. Overall, In need of improvement, but location good.

Set in a quiet area of the city but close to lots restaurants and Legohouse! Friendly staff, nice plentiful selection of breakfast, beds comfortable only downside is blinds on windows not very blackout so light very early in the mori but otherwise a great stay thanks

The hotel is right across the street from Lego House which is extremely convenient. The hotel front desk was also so helpful in making dinner reservations for us and also arranging a taxi for 8 of us back to Billund airport. If you are looking to spend one night in Billund this is a good option. My only comment would be that we booked a room for 4 people and while it worked, it was extremely small. So be prepared.

De ligging is erg fijn. Vlakbij het centrum en de bushalte. Er ligt een supermarkt naast. Kleine kamer, maar voldoet verder. Wel erg warm op de kamer.

Well-equipped hotel that is extremely close to Lego House. A few restaurants nearby, and a supermarket. The good - Lovely friendly service Comfortable bed Spacious room Good breakfast options. The average - No fridge in the room, but there is a shared fridge in a communal area. A plastic shower curtain is something I haven't seen in a long time! The bad - If you're a light sleeper this might not be the place for you. The blinds let in light, and the sound of the airport might wake you up. But, there's no escaping the sound of planes in Billund so you might not find anywhere else to be better.

This hotel was OK but expensive. It cost the UK equivalent of around £450 for two nights in a family room which was very small for 4 people, with a slightly rickety metal bunk bed for the kids. The bathroom was a wet room design with a floor that flooded after having a fairly short shower. We would have been a bit more tolerant of the amenities if the price had been better. However, the breakfast was enjoyable, with Scandinavian options like rye bread, cheese and ham (and strawberry juice and sheets of chocolate, which the kids loved) but also the usual options of cereal, yoghurt and pastries. The hotel staff on the reception desk were also nice and helpful.

Room is good although basic and a bit small. There's a communal dining/living room with a fridge. Very convenient location. Breakfast is very nice.

Absolutely exceptional customer service, beautifully clean and fabulous breakfast. The staff were so lovely and helpful and we would highly recommend for convenience to Lego house and the best bakery (Billund Bakery) I have ever tried! For a family and anyone who wants to explore danish hospitality this is a perfect stay.

The Refborg has a fantastic location, easy walking to anything you might want to visit. Very fine restaurant. Very informed and helpful owner and staff.

The hotel was perfect for a short business trip to Billund. The location is great as it is gives reasonably quick access, even by foot, to all of the offices I cared about, but was away from the amusement park/kid heavy areas, which made working much easier. The food was excellent—both the breakfast buffet, but also the restaurant in the evening. Finally, the hotel staff were, without exception, outstanding. Friendly, helpful, and attentive at every turn. On future trips to Billund, this is where I will stay; no question.

Vi tilbragte 2 nætter på Hotel Refborg i familieværelse med 2 voksne og 2 børn. Værelset var ikke så stort men fungerede fint, med køjeseng og en dobbeltseng. Børnene var fint tilfredse med køjerne, dobbeltsengen var ok. Morgenmaden var rigtig fin og personalet var flinke og venlige. Vi havde fået et værelse uden køjer da vi ankom og receptionen er ikke døgnbemandet. det lykkedes dog at få fat i dem telefonisk omend der var temmelig lang ventetid, da vi endelig kom igennem var de rimelig hurtige til at komme og værelsessituationen blev løst tilfredsstillende. Alt i alt et fint ophold og beliggenheden var helt perfekt til vores besøg i LEGO House.

The communication between myself and the hotel was excellent as I was travelling with three children on my own for the first time. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was nice and clean. There was a wide choice for breakfast both hot and continental choices. One concern I had was arriving after reception had closed. The hotel said they would leave a key. They did exactly what they said they would do so reduced the stress of worrying we wouldn't be able to access our room. There were no problems from the beginning of the booking to the checking out process. The hotel are happy to keep valuables like passports if needed. There is shampoo and body wash in the room along with a hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. The shampoo/bodywash smells really nice. If you want breakfast teabags maybe bring some of your own. Breakfast tea is available at breakfast but in our room there were speciality teas although you can take some from breakfast time back to your room. I also heard someone at the airport mention they had bought their own teabags for their accommodation. Location is great for Billund itself and Legoland. Its a 20 minute walk to Legoland and 2 minutes to Lego House. The hotel is also a pick up point for the hourly shuttle bus around Billund and to the airport which is free during July and August. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

Clean and warm hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, excellent.

Super hospitality. I was going to be running late so I called to arrange a late check in. When I finally arrived I was welcomed in and even offered a bite of food despite the kitchen being closed already. Lovely place to stay if you’re in Billund.

Amazing staff! Went to pick up our lost suitcase from the airport. Very friendly and helpful. Five star customer service.

Spent 3 nights with two teens to visit Lego House and Legoland. It’s so conveniently located you can walk to both attractions or take the free shuttle bus. It’s also close to the Teddy Bear museum and local supermarket and cafes. We loved the breakfast, super fresh and delicious! It was an exceptional and unforgettable stay, away from the crowds, quiet, friendly and so danish. We will definitely come back!

It is a great place to stay, which is near to all the things one needs to see in Billund. The staff were friendly, and the hotel was great and very spacious.

Very convenient location, there is a stop for the Shuttle bus just out the front, a supermarket just over the road, and the Lego house and some restaurants only a little further. We had food at the hotel one of the nights and it was really good quality, a little more expensive than what we are used to in the UK, but in line with prices in the region, given the quality it was definitely worth it. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. If we come back to Billund (which is highly likely, we had such a great time) I'd definitely consider this hotel again.

This is a small lovely hotel in a very quiet area. Right next to the lego house which is very convenient. The staff is keen to help with our traveling issues. They are the best!

Rummen var små men rena och fyllde sin funktion väl. Synd att restaurangen var stängd på söndagar. Vi saknade umgängesyta utanför hotellrummet då vi var två familjer som reste ihop. Det fanns ett litet lekrum, men ingen plats för vuxna att sitta och umgås. Närheten till Legohouse och Legoland var toppen.

I very much enjoyed the hotel. The staff were so nice and helpful. The rooms were large enough for 4 people, comfortable and nice. We were also within walking distance from all the attractions and shopping. There was plenty of parking as well. The breakfast was included and excellent! Best breakfast I have had. We also ate at the hotel for dinner and it was delicious. I would go there just for the restaurant!

Refborg is well located on the edge of town within easy walking distance of all attractions. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the room and spaces available for guests were well appointed. Breakfast was a buffet style with cereals, yoghurt, fruit, pastries, breads, meats and cheeses, and hot scrambled eggs and bacon - all regularly restocked.

Great hotel, super helpful staff and the restaurant has stunning delicious food! Loved our stay!
