Schönes Hotel im Zentrum von Stresa. Richtet sich eher an ältere Herrschaften. Sehr viele Busreisen aus UK. Zimmer mit Seeblick haben einen schönen Balkon. Pool nett, sauber und warm, allerdings in den Hinterhof gequetscht. Bademöglichkeit im See direkt gegenüber. Frühstück ist nicht so toll, Aufbackbrötchen und vermutlich auch Brot. Auf Masse ausgerichtet, nicht auf Klasse. Personal sehr nett. Parkplatz am Haus oder eine Straße weiter. Wir wurden dort hinbegleitet

Positives - good location and spectacular views from the balcony. Negatives - dated, faded 'luxury' and very poor customer service - customers appeared to be viewed as an inconvenience. No iron in the room or available at all (against hotel policy apparently). Parking is a pain and involved asking to put the car in a lift to under the hotel and asking to get it out every time.

Utmärkt och prisvärt hotell, precis vid vattnet. Välj utsikt mot sjön, annars tråkig utsikt mot baksidan och poolen. Bra frukost ingick i priset. De tar hand om din bil och parkerar den i eget garage. Tipp topp. Återkommer gärna.

Die Lage des Hotels ist genial und versprüht den Charm des letzten Jahrtausends. Der Empfang ist äußerst freundlich und auch sonst ist der Service sehr gut. Auch das Frühstücksbuffet lässt keine Wünsche offen und auch die Kellner versprühen mit der Fliege und der "Uniform den Charm vergangener Tage. Die Zimmer sind sauber und sollte man überhaupt Kritik üben, so sind es die nicht mehr zeitgemäßen Bäder. Schwer einsteigbare Badewanne mit Duschkabinenaufsatz und Fliesen etc. aus den 70igern.

Wir haben gleich ein Upgrade bekommen da uns mit Hund das DZ mit direktem Seeblick zu eng und zu klein war Es war gar kein Problem und ohne Aufpreis bekamen wir in der 4. Etage ein neues Zimmer. Ausserdem ist das Hotel Astoria sehr hundefreundlich. Sauberkeit wird hier groß geschrieben. Einfach empfehlenswert.

The Hotel Astoria is in a great location facing the lake on Corso Umberto I and within a few minutes walking distance of Stresa's centre. We didn't have a lake view room but the room was spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, the shower cubicle was not watertight and it flooded the bathroom floor. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice and fresh fruit was available. Staff were pleasant and attentive.

Gute Unterkunft, für ein paar Tage. Sehr schöne Aussicht. Freundliches Personal, nur unser Zimmer War sehr klein, das Mobiliar sehr alt und das Badezimmer klein mit einer schmalen Badewanne. Sonst sehr sauber. Das Frühstück war okay.

We just returned from a 10 day stay at the Very Elegant Hotel Astoria and highly recommend it! It was a perfect base to visit all the islands, quaint towns along the lake, and the beautiful gardens. It is Very close to the town of Stresa and the ferries, which was very convenient. The area is totally walkable with no hills and a beautiful tiled pathway that runs along the lake to enjoy the stunning panoramic views.The rooms are beautiful and meticulously kept. The views from the private balcony are spectacular with panoramic breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore. There are always celebrations in the air and all along the lake. Tents set up with antiques, and food festivals as music fills the air. The staff are so accomodating and kind. Breakfasts are delicious, served in a gorgeous dining room with so many options to choose from. Everyone we encountered during our stay were extremely warm, welcoming, and polite and you feel safe anytime of day and night. Thank you for making our 40th Anniversary so special!!

the hotel was located in a great area/town with plenty of good restaurants and many boat trips in walking distance. The reception area, dining room, bar and pool area were in good condition with a 'grand feel' it. The pool was only completed last year and had adequate sunloungers and parasols. The staff were helpful and generally pleasant, although info on both the hotel and surrounding area was limited and you had to ask. There was no hot tub as the hotel web site suggested, and the gym was hidden away on the roof top along with a run down seating area. The biggest disappointment was the rooms, which were 'tired' and uninspiring, unlike the rest of the hotel. Worse of all the beds were rock hard, and whilst extra pillows were provided these were flat and very uncomfortable. In our bathroom (room 414) the toilet was squeezed into a recess behind the door, and the shower very difficult to control (easy to knock it and turn off, up or down). The aircon was adequate and the balcony had a reasonable partial sea view, although traffic noise was a bit annoying. Overal we enjoyed our stay, but i suggest the rooms need a makeover, and certainly replace the mattresses.

We arrived on a late rainy night at Stresa train station and were unable to get a taxi. I called the hotel who sent Leonardo to pick us up. The station is a 5 minute easy walk to the hotel and any other day we would have done it. We had a lovely room overlooking the lake and the staff were always helpful. Will return!

Beautiful hotel, helpful and friendly staff, easy walking into town and to the ferry lines near the hotel. Great breakfast with everything you could want. We had a deluxe room with a balcony and beautiful view of Lago Maggiore but the room was extremely small.

Très bel hôtel mais très mal dormi. Il faisait dans la chambre une chaleur épouvantable (mai 2024), nous avons tenté de mettre la clim qui ne marchait pas, on a donc ouvert la fenêtre et le volet roulant pour aérer. La fraicheur de la nuit a donc aéré la chambre et au bout de 15 mn on a refermé pour dormir. Une heure plus tard on était de nouveau réveillé par la chaleur! On appelle la réception qui nous indique que la climatisation n’est pas activable car non mise à disposition à cette période de l’année et qu’il faut ouvrir la fenêtre! Ouvrir la fenêtre sans ouvrir le volet n’a aucun intérêt car le volet roulant est étanche, il faut donc ouvrir le volet avec comme conséquence d’être reveillé aux premières lueurs du soleil lorsque comme nous on est habitué au noir total, ce qui a été notre cas soit vers 05h30 du matin et avec de surcroit les énormes bruits des ventilateurs / clims des cuisines qui se sont mises en routes pour la préparation du petit déjeuner! Chambre 215 proche des extracteurs / ventilations

We had a wonderful stay in Stresa thanks to this beautiful hotel. The room had a lovely balcony overlooking the lake, was very roomy, and the breakfasts were great in the hotel’s beautifully appointed dining room. The hotel is conveniently located, making transportation options to the other lake towns easy. Hotel staff is very friendly and attentive. We loved our Lake Maggiore trip and would highly recommend this hotel.

All the staff was very good, friendly, helpful, cheerful, and welcoming. The location is also very good within short walking distances to the center and major sites. The breakfast was plentiful with something for everyone. However the decore needs some refreshment. The room size is adequate but storage good. Sound does carry from room to room in those that share a wall. Wehad some trouble with the lighting that had a life of its own. Apologies but no fix. We could get around the problems.
All the staff was very good, friendly, helpful, cheerful, and welcoming. The location is also very good within short walking distances to the center and major sites. Sound does carry from room to room in those that share a wall. Wehad some trouble with the lighting that had a life of its own. Apologies but no fix. We could get around the problems.

Lovely balcony and view BUT room was tiny and too much furniture in it. Also no tea/coffee making facilities in room. Bar staff made a comment about Brexit to us AND male Reception staff were not at all friendly - no “hello” as you approached them and one person actually ignored me! Breakfast buffet was good BUT again most of the staff (male) were not forthcoming with offering us tea/coffee - I had to ask someone each day to get us a drink as we couldn’t help ourselves! Beautiful town though.

Positives - good location and spectacular views from the balcony. Negatives - dated, faded 'luxury' and very poor customer service - customers appeared to be viewed as an inconvenience. No iron in the room or available at all (against hotel policy apparently). Parking is a pain and involved asking to put the car in a lift to under the hotel and asking to get it out every time.

We had a flood in our room, which leaked into the middle of the room through the frame on our llocked glass patio door during a heavy rain. The hotel provided multiple towels strewn throughout the room as a result. The next day the manager or owner was rude when we complained. Unhappy experience, rude management!

Friendly staff, but we did have two issues. On check in we provided passports etc, but then were expected to hand to a porter as the receptionist had not been able to complete info successfully the first time. Upon check out we were asked to pay for the booking as well as the city tax, when we had already paid the booking online. The hotel is clean but dated by British standards. It’s very pleasant but like stepping into an upper class 80s hotel with all the swags and tails of Laura Ashley!

We just returned from a 10 day stay at the Very Elegant Hotel Astoria and highly recommend it! It was a perfect base to visit all the islands, quaint towns along the lake, and the beautiful gardens. It is Very close to the town of Stresa and the ferries, which was very convenient. The area is totally walkable with no hills and a beautiful tiled pathway that runs along the lake to enjoy the stunning panoramic views.The rooms are beautiful and meticulously kept. The views from the private balcony are spectacular with panoramic breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore. There are always celebrations in the air and all along the lake. Tents set up with antiques, and food festivals as music fills the air. The staff are so accomodating and kind. Breakfasts are delicious, served in a gorgeous dining room with so many options to choose from. Everyone we encountered during our stay were extremely warm, welcoming, and polite and you feel safe anytime of day and night. Thank you for making our 40th Anniversary so special!!

All the staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was superb. A special thank you must go to ADI as he was so helpful and nothing was a problem for him, he made our time at Hotel Astoria extra special. I highly recommend this hotel!

Employees, especially waiters were very rude and unhelpful. They acted snooty and that the customers were an imposition. I will never come here again. We were not dressed fancy but I could buy the hotel if I wanted.

My wife and I made an impromptu detour to Lake Maggiore, and booked the Astoria sight unseen. It was the most amazing place, we chose the lake view room, and we were treated to amazing service and more amazing views! The walking from the hotel to the old downtown area with access to restaurants and bars is less than 10 minutes away.

The Hotel Astoria is in a great location facing the lake on Corso Umberto I and within a few minutes walking distance of Stresa's centre. We didn't have a lake view room but the room was spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, the shower cubicle was not watertight and it flooded the bathroom floor. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice and fresh fruit was available. Staff were pleasant and attentive.

Nice hotel in a good location, with easy access to ferries around the lake and local restaurants. We had a lake view room which had lovely views across the lake. There is a road that runs between the lake and hotel, which is busy a lot of the time. However, this was not a problem and didn't keep us awake. The window shutters blocked out any noise and light. There was plenty of choice of food at breakfast with beautiful views across the lake. We enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay and would rebook the hotel again

Pool nett, sauber und warm, allerdings in den Hinterhof gequetscht. Bademöglichkeit im See direkt gegenüber. Frühstück ist nicht so toll, Aufbackbrötchen und vermutlich auch Brot. We had a lovely room and a great bathroom. The breakfast was copious. We found the dinner a bit boring. The staff was great specially at the reception desk but also in the restaurant. Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori are tourist traps.

We stayed in a junior suite which had an amazing lake view. The room was much larger and beautifully decorated with a shower and bath. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed and pillows were super comfortable. Breakfast was okay - particularly if you like pastries, cakes and tarts. Good selection of cheese and cold meats. Not much in way of cooked foods and these often ran out and there was quite a wait for refills. That being said, the restaurant staff worked extremely hard and even bought bacon to us after we had to wait quite a while. Overall we would definitely recommend Astoria. It is in a great location too.
