Coylumbridge Resort Hotel

Stayed for two night with our two and four year olds, breakfast as part of the booking. Very well set up for kids and families, especially younger ones. Get what you pay for. Breakfast was super busy between 7am and 8am as hotel has coach trips staying over which stretches it to it's capacity, no coffee cups available and no bread etc. Went for breakfast laster second morning and was more manageable. Location very good and pool area great for the kids. Nice location down by river behind football pitch if you can scale the incline.

Limited time for play area. One of the beds did not had duvet. We had to order one and the cover as well late night when we noticed this.

Check in was initially set for 3pm, this was later pushed to 4pm. By the time we were checked in the children's facilities were closed and we were unable to access the pool because part of it was broken and what remained was busy due to the weather and then closed abruptly. Tried to get food a little before 9 to be told the kitchen shut at 8:30. It appeared to me that on the whole the place was understaffed. In relation to staff, I cannot recall the last time I've been treated so rudely, I was trying to sort out feeding my family and looking for cutlery, in the reception I saw the lady who checked us in and tried to ask her for help. Initially she tried to blank me to my face, I wasn't in a position to allow this so asked again and she barked 'bar' at me as she dismissively waved her hand towards the bar and flounced off...I was extremely offended. To be fair the saving grace of the was the bar staff who were very helpful but very busy as well, this person didn't appear to be doing anything anytime I saw her after taking so long with check in.

No complaints apart from a tardy check in.

We checked into a room that hadn’t been cleaned - hairs (from multiple different people in the bed) along with dirt, old food and yellow stains inside the bed, hairs in and around the toilet seat (guess which kind) and excrement on the toilet seat. The hotel staff were happy for us to leave at first after we stated we couldn’t stay with our young child. We eventually got moved to a clean room after speaking to the manager. The hotel is understaffed - the check in line was reaching out the main entrance door and there was 1 staff member behind the desk (this is at the start of August). The bar also only had 1 staff member causing enormous queues. Over 3 days we witnessed the exact same scenario. I first stayed in this hotel over 30 years ago. My father also had a room during this weekend and he stated it was identical to the times we visited as children (hint: no modernisation or refurbs in this period). My father and mother were left for 4hrs with no room on check in (OAPs that had travelled 3 hours to get there). There were no apologies and no sense of urgency. We paid £220 per night for our 3 night stay. If you can get this hotel for £50 or less per night then it’s worth it - no reason to complain - you get your ‘value’. For any price over you should look at the premier inn and use local leisure facilities or get self catering. Pay attention to all the negative reviews of this hotel - they will be largely accurate. Save yourself the disappointment.
