Breakfast decent, lack of staff on the bar service on Saturday night

Poor service at lounge bar..1 evening waited 10 min for bar person.give up and went too room..2nd night waited 10 mins eventually some one turned up..not good

Me and my wife really enjoyed our stay at Little Haven, the location of the hotel suited me as I'm a ex seamen, so the views of ships departing and arriving were fantastic, you can also enjoy nice strolls along the promenade and easy reach of south shields. The room we were staying in(212) was a little foisty and cold when we checked in, I did mention this on the app, the hotel responded by freshening up the room for us which we were most grateful for. It was very quiet at the hotel, the breakfast on the morning was excellent and service at the restaurant was great ,as was the reception staff who answered all our queries. parking is free which is a bonus as most places now charge you. i would definately be returning to this hotel. thank you all for a great stay.

Lovely room with fantastic view. Very pleasant staff. Food was excellent. A little chaotic over staffing levels to cover bars. Sign would say a bar was closed and to use the other bar in the restaurant but when you went to that bar there were no staff working on it. They had to leave the restaurant to serve the drinks. Have stayed on a number of occasions and will definitely book again.

Reasonable hotel, the evening meal food was excellent & sensibly priced but the breakfast needs addressing. The bar area seating was fully reserved for the locals for the entertained, which when you're paying near to £100.00 a night to stay is not acceptable. The rooms are reasonably spacious, but need to be updated to bring the furnishings & decor into the 1970s.

Good location next to beach. Although there were wedding parties both nights of stay, these weren't noisy and didn't affect enjoyment of stay. Breakfast on Sunday was chaotic - restaurant kept running out of food/juice etc and no booking system in place - hotel must have known it would be busy and planned accordingly. Also, replace toasters - totally inefficient

Disappointing. Two nights stay. Room not serviced. Only bar in restaurant open. Charge made to have a bath mat! Redeeming feature is stunning location.

As a couple we stay here 2-3 times during the year. This is mainly due to its exceptional location. Our hotel room was spacious and clean. The bath towels were white and fresh smelling. Also the shower curtain was stain free and toiletries are provided. However, the shared public areas, in particular the lounge with the sofas were at times dirty and scruffy.There doesn't appear to be enough staff to clear tables and give surfaces a clean. We are aware that dogs are allowed in this area and we could really smell 'the wet doggy smell' Also some people let their dogs up onto the sofas so they have dog hairs on them. Food on the carpet was not hoovered up over the 2 days of our stay. Breakfast is okay but nothing special. It feels a bit like a canteen and it can be disorganised. For example they ran out of juice, milk, yoghurts, fruit and croissants. As staff were already stressed we didn't want to ask for items to be put out. Hotel guests shouldn't have to keep asking for breakfast items to be replenished. On a brighter note the coffee and cream scones are lovely and are not overly expensive. Most of the staff try to be helpful and friendly although they do seem to have responsibilities in different areas of the hotel. As a result they can appear to be a bit stretched and then apologise a lot for waiting times. A few tweaks and this could be such a fantastic hotel.

The bath had stains and I could hear the occupants of the near by 4rooms

Staff were lovely and very helpful, Had to change rooms because of faulty toilet, glad to because the toilet floor was covered in hair.., Had to return food to the restaurant because it came out cold, I have stayed at the little haven for many years and never had this problem before, Lovely hotel and lovely location. We had a lovely stay the suite we staying in was lovely and comfortable. The views were great and the bed was really comfortable.

Room was dated and needs refurbishing. Cracked floor tiles damaged bath panel rust on towel rail etc. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve slept in, you could feel the springs and it was hard. The wall sockets only worked when the lights were on, handy if you wanted to charge anything overnight. Really poor experience.

The room was freezing cold on arrival. Maintenance guy sorted it but the the second day someone turned off all our heating again and it was cold. No hairdryer in room.

My partner and I were in the Admiral Collingwood penthouse and like all penthouse accommodation this did not disappoint absolutely wonderfully positioned. Sit out on the balcony to the east to watch the sun come up and reset at the end of the day by watching the sun set in the west.

Location beautiful. Noise and thin curtains, woke up at 5am and wedding parties till 2am in the mornings, had a three day stay and not a goodnight sleep on any of them. Spoke to staff with no outcomes, could have moved us , I have stayed here on a few occasions and need to be thought of better. No hair dryer , iron or fridge. It was expensive and the hotel needs an updating make over, breakfast was out dated and requires a new menu to cater for all.

Spacious room, wonderful sea view, quiet mostly except for inconsiderate guests making a noise after various returns to the adjacent room from the wedding at the hotel. Not the hotels fault. Breakfast was ok. Ran out of cooked items at 9 am despite finish at 9:30. A cafeteria experience. Didn’t eat dinner, very uninspiring budget coach party fayre.

quirky hotel with lovely views ( ours was over the Tyne we watched the DFDS ferry come in. Large windows. Large room ( junior suite 201) The room was a little dated but we didn't mind because it was clean and had a bath- a great addition for after cold water swimming. Electric heater- simple and efficient.

First time stay and was slightly disappointed to be honest. The staff were friendly but it felt like dining was in the reception area and the menu was a little sad. I decided to get a takeaway from Ocean Road which was lovely. The room was tired and cold, no bottle of water, no hairdryer. Breakfast was also disappointing and the coffee was literally undrinkable. The location is good and this hotel could be lovely but it’s dated and I’m sorry to say I won’t be staying again.

Great location. Great value for money. Great breakfast. Great staff. The only negative - we stayed 2 nights and both nights our room keys wouldn't work so both nights we spent 20 minutes going up and down to reception to access the room. William was brilliant.

Great overnight stay.Had our room changed because we requested a quiet area an ended up near reception. Thankyou Steven for resolving this. Breakfast one of the best we've had.

The location is the USP of this hotel but it is very dated and lacks attention to detail particularly in the staffing area. The Manager is not present nor obvious to customers. Staff need to trained not to spend time hanging over reception chatting when customers need attention, and when they do that they should not be greeted with a response that makes them feel like an interference to the conversation. They also need to be made clear that shouting at each other in and outside the restaurant is totally unacceptable. Some Individual staff are very good but a well managed customer Service team are constantly attentive rather than making Customers feel processed. Whilst the hotel is clean it’s very dated and some of the Ocean Road BnB’s surprisingly have a higher quality of accommodation and staff as well as amenities. Overall It’s just lack lustre.

Sadly my stay was spoil by the barman in the wedding swearing at my wife when she asked politely for some ice just after bar shut and told here to go and fetch it herself. Sad as the place is lovely and we would have come back

It was a very hot weekend. I phoned the hotel before we left home and requested a fan for the room. I asked 3 times on the first night but fan never arrived. The carpet to the left side of the bed was soaked and the room smelled of cleaning fluids. The hotel appeared to be short staffed and breakfast took a long time as staff disappeared from the counter frequently. Having said that the staff were friendly and when I mentioned about the lack of a fan and the wet carpet I found a bottle of wine with compliments in my room. Location was lovely. It wouldn’t stop me staying there again.

The Little Haven Hotel next to the beach in South Shields is clean and quiet. The High Street, Metro, and North Shields Ferry are within easy walking distance. The cost of our stay included breakfast. The variety of food options was good.

Lovely position next to beach with stunning views and lots of opportunities for walking and exploring the vicinity. Ample parking and very conveniently located for bars and restaurants. Will definitely visit again.

The Hotel is situated at the mouth of the River Tyne, which gives endless views of sea, sand and passing ships while the pathways round and near the Hotel give plenty of interesting walks to visit local parks and surroundings area.

Stayed at The Little Haven several times and previously enjoyed our stay. Service and food quality in the restaurant poor, some very overcooked, another dish unrecognisable. Breakfast was okay. Lounge area is more like a cafe area and bar often closed. Bedroom was comfortable but getting dated.

I have stayed here a few times now. The staff are friendly and the location, sea view, is lovely. Food choice was a little limited for dinners but what I had was good. Breakfast was very good. I will definitely return.

We have been staying at The Little Haven for over 20 years and love our trips down south. This year however the food was quite disappointing' We stayed Friday and Saturday and the menu - 'Steak Night'- was the same both nights. Soggy chips and poor steaks. Shame.

The property around the hotel is lovely. We enjoyed walking the beach. Walking paths are well lit and beach was pretty clean. Getting two key cards for the room to work was challenging. Restaurant service was lacking friendly service and food was average. Night porter was very nice.

Pros - It’s so close to a beautiful beach and piers and a beautiful parks are within walking distance Cons - the food was not good, tasteless, overcooked and very limited options for breakfast. The dishes were stained, cutlery not clean - we didn’t want to eat there after the first meal
