Riu Palace Aquarelle - All Inclusive

The property was well taken care of, the staff was very kind and helpful, the food was delicious, the bars were always a fun time, the activities were fun and well planned out, and they always had options for kids of any age. The only thing I would change.... Add more elevators or make them larger.

Certain guest didn’t wash off after coming from the beach and went straight into the pool. Which very disgusting because sand at bottom of the pool and bugs swimming around . I really didn’t care for any of the pools because of the setup to swim up bars which nice for adults but no room to swim just to seat and relax . Another pool with volley ball net just to play so you couldn’t swim. The pools need treatment to make it a bit cleaner and clear. The beach was my favorite part of the resort it was the most beautiful beach blue clear shallow waters and warm. There was a company called scuba caribe offering water activities such as snorkeling , paddling board , kayaking , and boat party’s . I enjoyed the paddling board super fun and a nice workout. The views on the beach were incredible and super relaxing. Also my top favorite was the water park which had like 5 different slides and it was such a thrill. The water park had the cleanest pool . This resort is a family friend , there are so many smoking designated areas which I loved the most because if you know then you know . The best part of the activities was the foam party it was super lit , live DJ , open bar , and a host on the mic who had so much energy interacting with the crowd . It had rain that day but the hotel staff still wanted all the guests to have a good time and enjoy their selfs. I like how the hotel had activities every night parties , live shows , and open bars all around. Staff at the buffet 10/10

Our room was clean and it had a beautiful ocean view. I didn’t like the fact the property didn’t have a coffee shop that opened early in the morning.

The hotel is just 1 year old so it’s in great shape, the design overall is great except they could have designed more passenger elevator banks. There was also no ATM at the hotel but apart from these couple of negatives, the positives outweigh them and I consider our stay a very pleasant experience!!!

Getting reservations to the other restaurants, not the buffet, is close to impossible. Also, pools close at 6 which then leaves nothing for guests to do. Should be extended.

The pools were accommodating for all ages, which includes, games and drinks for all ages.

The staff, property and food were really good. The only thing that needs to improve is the beach area. Need to be more clean and need new beach umbrellas. They were all damaged. But overall I am satisfied.

This is NOT a 5 star hotel for many reasons. There were cockroaches in my room. I know it’s Jamaica, but I travel to Jamaica at least twice a year every year and I’ve never seen cockroaches in my room at a resort or at any Airbnb I’ve stayed in. My shower didn’t drain. My sister had a tone of maintenance issues in her room including the lock for the patio door was missing. The food is meh. Not much available after the buffet closes and what’s available isn’t that great. Many buffet staff members were just straight up rude or apathetic and not very friendly or engaging. The entertainment team was amazing though and put on excellent shows and the women working at Capuchino were very lovely. The property itself is just ok, definitely not giving palace vibes as the name suggests. No night club so once entertainment is done there’s not much going on. It it’s extremely windy in that part of Trelawny so the sea is always really choppy. It’s also kind of remote, nothing much in the surrounding area and Mobay is 30-40 minutes away. I was there for a wedding so I didn’t choose this property but now that I’ve stayed I know it’s not something I would book again.

Not in the best neighborhood. Flood waters gather outside the property, no drainage, and it created a lot of mosquitoes. The room had a lot of hair on the floor. Night life could be better. No night club. Adult pool could be cleaner. Other than those things, I enjoyed my stay. Beach was nice and food was good. Staff was friendly.

The couch in the room was dirty and the towel hooks in the bathroom were not screwed in but glued in. One of the towel hooks came off the bathroom wall. Entertainment, spa, food and staff were very, very good.

Clean room, quality food, staff is professional

Rooms were pretty clean for the most part, but didn't understand why kept taking our wash cloths not replacing them until night time, not emptying our garage piles daily also not replacing empty box of tissues

The property was very clean. They cleaned constantly. It felt safe and the ocean view was spectacular.

I like that the room was clean. The balcony view was pleasant: the staff was courteous. Most of all, the INTERNET was reliable. I had 1 1/2 days of Zoom calls that conducted without a hitch. Thank you so much! The only issue that I had is that I had cold water to shower in for 3 of the 4 nights that I was there. It was addressed once I called the front desk. Cheap parts in the fixtures was the source of the problem. All in all, it was a good stay.

The water pressure in the 2 rooms that we booked was horrible. I informed the front desk and they stated they would address it but it was never addressed. Based on the rooms alone, i would not be returning or would recommend.

The one problem was there was no hot water to shower the entire week. I called numerous times to complain and I was ignored with the standard line were working g on it. I believe the hotel turned down the heat to conserve money and put up signs saying we’re working g on it. For the type of money paid for the stay this was unacceptable.

I am not happy with the way Expedia handle my situation. The hotel did not have hot water for a day and a half. There has been no compensation by the hotel themselves.

This is a nice resort however you do have to wake up early to save a flimsy umbrella on the beach around 8am. The service on the beach is top tier Edward’s and Nelson are amazing. The beds In the rooms are bigger than a twin but smaller than a full size bed. The food in the restaurants is subpar however the buffet is very good with great service. I will not be back due to no cabanas on the beach and the rooms.

The check-in process was horrible. Needs work on training staff on how to organize the herd of crowd. Also, the toilet was not made for heavy people not that we are fat people. The toilet was already coming out the wall prior to us no support the toilet design sucks. It just comes out the wall no ground support. I believe if the hotel staff were to be able to get tips from everyone, maybe they would treat the guest better training has to be done on Customer Service starting at the lobby to the receiving of food lots of room for improvement. The hotel staff and people are very nice. They just need help on how to run The hotel to me. It was out of order chaotic, not calming at all.

Requested early check-in but waited a really long time for a room. Spent 3 hours in the lobby

Staff was a amazing during my stay. Hurricane Melissa hit and the staff didnt miss a beat. They kept us fed and entertained in such a tragedy for the country. I have nothing but praises for the Riu Palace AQUARELLE in Jamaica what an amazing job they did for the people during the Hurricane and aftermath, enough cant be said I applaud them and recommend this Riu AQUARELLE once everything is back up amd running

The property it self is beautiful, however the servants are very poor badly poor they talk to you rude, and not pay attention to what you need ignore you . For example visited the Steakhouse restaurant the servant was the worst I have seen was pointing with a finger when talking to you. The property assigned wrong room charged extra to get the room we have ordered. The front dest people are poor as well. And another big thing about Jamaica the Gift shop super expensive for example 4$ chip are 14$ dollars not worth buying.

Overall, the experience at the hotel was satisfactory. However, the common areas used by the hotel guests is small compared to its capacity. For example, there were times when the dining room was over crowded and long lines for breakfast. Additionally, there are only four small elevators in the lobby, which also created lines for the elevator use. The customer service was not very efficient. I asked for an iron on three separate occassions and never received one. I met another guest in the elevator who had a similar experience and had yet to receive an iron.

I didnt like that my package included a transfer to the airport and I had to pay 70usd to get to get to the airport because they didn't have my name on the transfer list going back to the airport today. Very disappointed.

First time I’ve ever written a review but had too. Been to a lot of places but this place was the best. Beach, restaurants, drinks, cleanliness, shows, etc were all 10/10. And the people and staff were behind a 10/10. Every person genuinely cared and tripped over you to help. Jamahl our server on the beach was the greatest. Food was amazing as was the setup of the beach with chairs that can go in the shade under the palm trees or move them forward to get sun. The best!!

The entry to the resort was concerning though security was at the gate. The property sits behind a residential community with no appeal. It was disappointing.

The Rui was Amazing however when traveling to Jamaica walkability is important. Unfortunately the resort is in the middle of nowhere and no free or reasonable shuttle service to Montego Bay. After two day we spent a fortune trying to find places to visit. The excursions were Incredible and reasonably priced. I Love Jamaica but the Rui has to allow the Jamaicans to cook their foods the way they do. The food flavor was disappointing.

The property was nice, but make sure you have an ocean view. The other side of the property was not a beautiful scenery.

The property is fairly new and very clean. The food was great. Theres entertainment every day which is awesome. Loved the water slides. And really appreciate the free charter from the resort to the sister resort in ochos rios for the RIU parties. I had such a great time and already planning to return. Only con would be the rocks in the water at the beach. Be sure to wear swim shoes

Very nice hotel. The only inconvenience is the hotel is far from everything.

For a newer resort I was expecting a little more with RIU Aquarelle. The staff were definitely inviting, the entertainment was good, the food was decent. We had an ocean front room where the views were very nice. However, the beach needs some upkeep. Frequently seen garbage on the beach.. old diapers, and old reusable cups from the resort. The chairs on the beach are plentiful but, there are very few umbrellas. There isn’t much landscaping on the beach with palm trees so the sun is blazing down on you. The umbrella that we finally got from the lifeguard who hands them out was broken and was rigged up to stay up partially on one side. Most of the umbrellas were broken that were available and there wasn’t many that you seen out. That’s probably why the beach chairs were plentiful on the beach. Be careful going out in the water in the area of the hotel; there are so many rocks. My husband stubbed his toe on a couple of them before we realized this area wasn’t good to go out in the water. The locals walking the beach also warned us after we found out the hard way. There needs to be signs warning about the rocks.

The beach needed dredging as recent construction and landfills have left it rocky and uncomfortable to wade to the floating boarder lines swimming.

Over all everything was great- my only complaint is the shore on the property - it’s extremely rocky and shallow - and you are not able to swim. Staff were friendly- good food options- staff is accommodating to food restrictions- everyone is friendly. Every night there were entertainment options.

The staff was really great! The facilities was wonderful! The dining options were great but the only thing is that you need to make reservations for the restaurants and it was difficult to find availability. All in all great place to vacation!

The food was average compared to Royalton nextdoor more local variety to choose from. But overall love the vybz and energy will definately visit RIU again.

Honestly had a great time, depending on the day certain staff were better than others but over all good staff. Food was best in the buffet. Fine dining options were mid. Never finished any plate from the fine dining. Buffet was great! Drinks are very watered down but if you request more alcohol they are very accommodating. Rooms were pretty clean , tiny bit of mold in the shower but over all clean. Rooms are big! Pool bar was the best! Plenty of activities and entertainment.

The resort was very well maintained. Rooms were big. Food at the steakhouse and the Asian restaurant were good. The Italian food unfortunately not so good. The wait was an hour only to get cold food. We had to leave and go to the buffet. Most of the staff were friendly some not so much but that happens. Overall though had a great stay. Buffet selection was very good. Ocean was beautiful. Would recommend

The hotel is clean and staff are friendly. My one problem is the food it was always cold i don’t know why that is and it’s on heating plates but everything was always cold. Drinks are strong those so a win is a win I guess. The entertainment crew are lite I loved them.

Surprisingly, the food from the buffet was better than the restaurants that requires reservations. Buffet offers a wide variety of dishes from Jamaican, Chinese, American to Latin Cuisine, many fresh fruits. For the dinner reservations, they only allow a 10 mins grace period if you are running late for your reservation. 'Steakhouse' was our favorite, but we were seated in a section with no AC. Kyoto didn't offers any Japanese cuisine, I thought I would get some ramen or sushi. Napoli was okay, I honestly think Olive Garden taste way better. The host from Krystal had a bit of an attitude. Overall, the property felt smaller than others we've stayed at previously. Only three pools and kids waterpark and a teen waterpark. The Riu dancing crew, fitness instructor and bartenders were awesome. They had great enegery and provided excellent services. BTW, weather in Jamaica isn't humid at all, always have a nice breeze, we like it a lot.

I had a very disappointing experience at the steakhouse. The servers were rude and unprofessional, which made the visit uncomfortable. The food was also terrible. On the other hand, I’ve had great experiences at Kyoto and Napoli restaurants. Their food is delicious, and the servers always greet customers with a smile and are very polite. I highly recommend those places instead.
