A lovely hotel with a good menu and breakfast plus dog friendly.

Warm, comfortable and clean rooms with all the essentials provided, including a good shower/bath. We booked 2 twin-bedded rooms situated in a converted barn with their own entrance. Access was via steep staircase. Quiet village setting. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will stay again next time we are in that neck of the woods.

Popular pub in a nice old village with free parking and close to the motorway. The room was large, has new furniture, the bed a little too soft, but the bathroom is in need of a refurb: old with broken toilet seat, sink plug, and the jacuzzi was very old and tatty.

The rooms are in outbuildings to the main pub. The old brick buildings are clearly worn, with paint chipping, large cracks in the ceiling, large stains on the carpet and generally in need of a refurb. The furniture is in a good state of repair and the bed is super comfortable. No fans available despite it being August and in the mid 20’s. Have stayed in a Marston Inn previously and had an excellent experience, however this one was well off the mark.

The property is an old coaching Inn full of character, with easy parking close to your room, located in pleasant quiet village. The room was excellent clean, quiet and comfortable and located in an out building across the courtyard from the pub. I enjoyed an excellent evening meal in the pub from their extensive menu. Following a good night's sleep enjoyed a hearty breakfast also served in the pub. All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. I will certainly use this property again and highly recommend.

Excellent value for money. A nice room in a pretty village. Pub was also very good. Friendly helpful staff.

Shocking parking. Couldn’t park at the property or anywhere in the village. This was booked as a work stay fortunately the two days in Hull was cut down to 1 day so there was no need for the hotel. Gave up trying to get parked after 1.5 hours and drove the 4 hours home on the evening instead

Our second time here, first time amazing and a pleasant stay this time. Just a few gripes, the room was comfortable and the bed extra comfy. The window unfortunately was black with mold, the are the original windows but they would benefit from a thorough clean. The bathroom ceiling was peeling off in places and the glass shelf was missing in the bathroom. Unfortunately the opposite bedroom had their tv on all night otherwise there would be complete silence. The room we were in this time started to look tired but this didn’t spoil our stay.

Given that the pub itself was nice and reviews are generally good I found this a surprisingly poor stay. I did book late and wondered if I was maybe given the reserve duff room, especially since staff said there was an issue with the lighting and went to check it was working first. There were two showers in the room, one attached to the bath taps and an electric one. The electric one didn't work at all, wouldn't switch on, and the shower head on the other one was cracked, so it sprayed most of the water off to the side. Unfortunately due to having a bath in the evening, (which was fine), I didn't discover the shower issue until morning, by which time it was a bit late to get it remedied. The bathroom fan was loud and ran constantly, eventually had to stand on a chair and turn it off at the wall Bathroom window appeared to have warped in the damp and would neither open or close but was stuck slightly open Toilet not especially clean and black mould on bath and shower fittings. Overall a bit disappointed in Marstons and felt it was poor value at £68, for mid week in January for room only.

Very friendly staff, room was spotless and very warm. Food selection for dinner was good and well presented. Breakfast was excellent, the singing chef added an extra welcome!!!

The room was very good, all the sockets had usb access which is great, bathroom was clean and all worked well, large space too. I would stay again, quiet and comfortable.

I informed management of several room issues within 30 minutes of arrival. I was told maintenance would address this the next morning. Stayed for 5 nights and nothing was done. Bathroom was a mess with black mould in the ceilings and terrible level of cleanliness. Broken toilet flush, toilet roll holder, shelf, dirt on the pipes … avoid room 9

The room accommodation was very nice and comfortable but the bathroom was out dated with mold, paint peeling from the ceiling, the toilet roll holder was very lose and there were cracked tiles on the floor and wall. Waited almost 45 minutes for a steak. No starter was ordered.

Stayed for 2 nights. Room 9. We waited ages for someone to check us in. There were staff just stood around, we had to ask someone to actually check us in after 5 minutes of being ignored. It looked run down and needs TLC. The state of the stairwell made me feel a bit sick. The bed was comfy, but it wasn't a double bed as advertised, it was 2 single beds put next to each other... at different heights. So the left-hand side of the bed was comfy! There were plenty of plug sockets & coat hangers. The room was nice & warm. The bathroom wasn't nice at all. The toilet seat was barely attached to the bowl, so it was a delicate balancing act whenever you sat on it. The shower screen had a gap of about an inch between the bottom of it & the edge of the bath, so water covered the floor whenever you showered. There was orange rust (or something) running down the wall from the handrail to the edge of the bath. The worst part, though, was the leftover hair from the previous occupant left in the bathtub - it hadn't been cleaned between guests. I had breakfast there & wished I hadn't. The 'smashed avocado on toast' looked like green baby food smeared onto anaemic bread with a spoon. The softest toast I've ever had. Horrifically overpriced. Inedible. I don't think you could pay me to stay there again. I wish I'd read other reviews (of both the hotel and restaurant aspects) before booking. I wish I'd asked for a refund, to be perfectly honest. Bed = good. Everything else = awful.

“Totally chaotic experience. Very little communication between staff and customers, tables left uncleared, and the rooms extremely noisy. Parking is also tricky on weekends. I had no hot water for three nights despite staff being made aware, and the food was inedible.”

Easy and friends check in. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The decor is looking a bit worn here and there.

When l booked, the only option was a single room, but shouldn't have worried as although it was a little small, it was a really nice, comfortable room with a small double bed. Very good quality linen and nice comfortable bed. Great place to stay

Great room (number 2). Big with comfortable bed and good shower. No mirror over dressing table (which I always want). Excellent evening meal and breakfast and staff are lovely.

When I arrived I was greeted by friendly and informative staff. My room was very dated and in need of decoration. My bed was excellent and I had a good nights sleep after a very early start and a long day. In the morning I was woken up by a loud dripping coming from my en suite. As i entered the en suite I found it was flooded and there was water running from the ceiling and my things in the room were soaked. I had a very busy day ahead of me and was in need of a shower and shave before my appointments. When I mentioned this to a member of the management team I was informed there was nothing they could do for me and I had to wait until a room became available for me to use. I asked if they had a process to cover these situations and was asked “ What do you expect us to do?” They did not care and my experience of their customer service in difficult situations was poor. They did not care about my situation and I had to leave with a soaked toiletries bag, no shave and shower. This was about the worst service I have received in my time at hotels. For the price I don’t expect to be treated this way.

Check in speedy but friendly..Food very good didnt have all the choices but it was early evening on Sunday so had been busy. Breakfast very good and great for the price. Staff friendly and welcoming. Would deffo stay here again!

There were plenty of plug sockets & coat hangers. The room was nice & warm. The bathroom wasn't nice at all. The toilet seat was barely attached to the bowl, so it was a delicate balancing act whenever you sat on it. The shower screen had a gap of about an inch between the bottom of it & the edge of the bath, so water covered the floor whenever you showered. There was orange rust (or something) running down the wall from the handrail to the edge of the bath. The worst part, though, was the leftover hair from the previous occupant left in the bathtub - it hadn't been cleaned between guests. I had breakfast there & wished I hadn't. The 'smashed avocado on toast' looked like green baby food smeared onto anaemic bread with a spoon. The softest toast I've ever had. Horrifically overpriced. Inedible. Lovely hotel and pub in a village. Good value as well. It was very good location because we needed to be close to the motorway and Humber Bridge. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast, although the noise from the other guests at breakfast spoilt it for us. This was not the fault of the hotel. I would stay again if in the area.

From arriving at the hotel and being a regular hotel user around the country, the experience was excellent. Checking in simple, the restaurant any food and local ale was superb. The bed was softer and more comfortable than Premier Inn beds which is saying something. Room 3 with a beamed roof and huge shower was also beyond expectation. Breakfast this morning was again second to none, all fresh and very hot. I would actually bring my family here next time we are in Yorkshire. The pub probably needs an update but as it is adds to the character so should be balanced. Thank you to all the team. Tim Crawshaw.
