Sydney RiseOn Hotel

It was our first time in Sydney and this accommodation did not disappoint. Just in the center of everything! It is really near the food shops, transport and even just a 10-15minute walk to Chinatown. The staff were so nice too. But how I wish there was like a microwave that guest can use to heat up the food. Would definitely recommend!

Stayed 3 nights for a family holiday, I was very happy with my room, very roomy, clean, great bathroom, balcony could have done with outdoor furniture, overall great stay. Other family members weren't happy with theirs, leaking showers, air conditioners etc. The hotel was within walking distance to transport, restaurants, around the corner from Spice Alley which has so many restaurants to choose from. I will definitely stay there again. Top spot.

Liked the area and proximity to everything. Disliked the fact that there was no microwave.

Great position for transport, central station and light rail in walking distance. I had stayed here many years ago when it had a different name. The rooms have been renovated and are much better, unfortunately the lift is still as bad as I remember it from all those years ago. Great dining option Spice Alley in Kensington Rd adjacent to hotel. Would use again for a budget price in Sydney

Really very convenient to the train, metro, Darling Harbour (4 blocks approximately). Price was very good. The accommodations were good for the two of us. Very clean and plenty of towels. Location was the highpoint for us.

Room was worn down and we had cockroaches running around.

I guess you get what you pay for. The stale smell was overwhelming. Cockroachs in the bathroom was unpleasant. The balcony was about to fall apart as were some of the floor and wall tiles. Staff were pleasant.

A great location, close to Central Station and Broadway shopping centre. Huge room! Easy check-in, and they gave us an upgrade with a balcony. Some mould on the bathroom ceiling, and also water was dripping from the bathroom light when it rained heavily. No big issues; maintenance can easily fix those. Overall, a great location and a great stay.

Großes, modernes Zimmer. Sehr sauber mit geräumiger Dusche. Als Upgrade habe ich sogar ein Zimmer mit (großem) Balkon bekommen. Durch die doppelt verglaste Balkontüre war es im Zimmer absolut ruhig, obwohl es Richtung der Hauptstraße gelegen ist. Das Hotel hat eine hervorragende Lage, sehr nahe bei der Central Station und kann alles in allem uneingeschränkt empfohlen werden. Gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

I saw 5 cockroaches in my room .

The budget price may be tempting but you will be staying in a place dirtier than most hostels. The location is amazing, right near Central station. Upon arrival a strong pungent stench of dampness and mould hits you. The smell of damp, a sour garbage smell, stale air and mould was more intense in the room. The furniture and amenities are dated, with little to no care to restore or fix things. The overall room is full of landlord specials- patched up walls, scuffs, non waterproofed shower without a recess, no fan in the bathroom ect. The dirtiness of the room took us aback. Mop/shoe marks on the floor, no scrub down, dust and stained sheets and probably not washed in hot water. The mattress was bedbug free, comfy and looked fresh and new, pillows were comfy. We glen 20 sprayed the room and purchased shower cleaner, however still felt uncomfortable walking around in the room barefoot. The windows are not able to be opened to get reprieve from smellraw was the emergence of German cockroaches at night. The reception is unmanned after 11pm, in the morning I alerted reception, once I had mentioned the cockroaches he immediately stated "no refunds" I explained I was not seeking a refund just a solution to feel more comfortable during my stay. He was so quick to say "no refund" even though I hadn't mentioned it. He's solution was to hand me a bottle of cockroach spray. I understand this is budget accommodation, however stained sheets, dirty floors and cockroaches are unacceptable.

Air conditioner did not work and front desk said they knew it was a problem but rented the room anyway. There were no other rooms available.

Hotel is literally 5-6 minutes walk (with luggage) from Central Station (train) so very conveniently located if intending to use public transport to get around Sydney. There's also a bus interchange about halfway to the station. As they say "location, location, location" and this certainly has that in spades. Front desk staff are courteous and quick. Check-in was very easy. Room 201 is excellent as it is well laid out. It appears far larger than it actually is (which is a good thing) This is the room we would prefer to have during any future visits to Sydney. Shower/toilet/wash basin all in same room. This may be a problem for some people but for us, it was the perfect set-up. Supermarket, restaurants and pubs are within a 3 minute walk in almost any direction so also very conveniently located. Would definitely stay again as it is inexpensive.

This hotel is literally a 5-10 minute walk from Central (train) Station so it has "location, location, location" as its big selling point if you are using public transport. Trains also arrive/depart for Sydney Airport from Central. The light rail is also close and takes you through the heart of the city (via George Street) all the way to Circular Quay. The room I had (room #301) was quite clean and spacious plus the bed had a firm mattress (which I like.) It had a double shower in one cubicle, toilet in another and the wash basin in the central lounge/bed area. I had stayed in the room directly below it (room #201) a couple of weeks prior and it had a different configuration (toilet, single shower and basin in the one cubicle.) Supermarket is a 2 minute walk away for essentials. There's also a side lane (Kensington Street) 1 minute walk away that contains a range of (mostly) asian restaurants. The location could be problematic for some in relation to noise levels. Broadway is a busy street coupled with the room not being very well sound-insulated so: a) It is adjacent to a pub (Bar Broadway) that has music playing until the early hours (6am) on the weekend. b) Broadway has many bus interchanges not far away. c) There seemed to be a lot of (ambulance) sirens during the night. It didn't bother me at all but, if you are a light sleeper or are disturbed by noise, this may not be the hotel that best suits your needs. I will certainly stay at Riseon again when next in Sydney.

Nice big room size and comfortable bed.

No door on bathroom. Broken fittings in the main room. A drawer wouldn't stay shut and needed to be taped shut. General shabby condition.

The room was very clean with a king sized bed. However, there is no bathroom or wash basin in the room: you have 3 bathrooms at the end of the corridor to shower or use the toilet

Spacious and clean room for Deluxe King room. The only problem was the room was not soundproof.

This hotel is very close to Central Station and very inexpensive.The rooms are well cleaned.However, the building is old, and the toilet and shower are outside the room and shared. I am satisfied with this hotel, but would not recommend it to everyone.

Good place to stay as it is very close to central train station. Room was nice as well but unfortunately things such as the shower head was broken.

When I called to see if it was possible for an early chick in the gentleman on the phone was extremely rude and hung up while still talking to him. And was extremely rude while checking into the hotel. The other staff member was reasonably nice and checked me in.

Friendly staff, very clean rooms and most convenient to the Sydney area being within walking distance to Central Station. Have stayed here before and will book again as rates are very reasonable.

Everything ok until the slow return of room deposit. Not happy about this.

I didn’t even stay. I got to the reception and was told I needed a physical credit card to check in. I had already paid online however this was a security deposit. I offered to tap however the concierge flat out refused to assist me in any way and became quite rude and aggressive when I asked how we could find a resolution. I was to go withdraw cash or leave! I had to travel 2 hours home and 2 hours back the next day as a result of this terrible customer service for which I am still waiting a refund!

The property is in an ideal location to Central Station, Staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well appointed and very quiet. We have stayed there many times when visiting Sydney as it is so convenient

I had $100 taken from me. This was the price of booking in, in addition to the fee from the room. I was told I would get in back. There is no chance I will. The young lady booking me in was incredibly rude and kept calling me 'dude' which I did not appreciate. I would never stay there again and I advise people to avoid the hotel.

Double glazed windows ensured totally silent inside the room and staff pleasant and helpful. Best to check in on Sundays as can get a space to park quick and check in and out. Decent pub across the road and McDonald’s for cheap apple pie and ice cream for desert. Lovely Spice Alley behind the hotel full of Asian street food.

This accommodation was clean and neat. We had all conveniences that we needed ie tissues, tea and coffee, hanging space, use of a hairdryer. The staff were extremely helpful, especially with arranging for a cab. The hotel looks old outside, but the rooms were spotless. The rate per room is great value, and the location is perfect for train or bus travel and proximity to a range of restaurants. I would certainly recommend Riseon for your visit to Sydney.

Wanted somewhere to stay that was central and affordable. Excellent location next to central station and plenty of great eating options close by, as well as walking distance to nearly everywhere. Had everything I needed for my 3 night stay. Only negatives were no hair dryer provided, no bed-side light and not that many power-points (specifically no powerpoint next to the bed). Having said that, I would happily stay here again for a short Sydney trip!
