After a six night stay in Novotel Munich we had a five night stay here in Novotel Freiburg. The difference in hotels was remarkable. The hotel in Munich was 5/5 but Freiburg Novotel was 1/5. The location is great - right by the station (trains, trams, buses) and town but that is where it ended. The description says it has a pool but for all six days it was ‘closed for cleaning’. We had travelled with a child and planned on using the pool every day so that was disappointing. The spa area was also closed ‘for cleaning’ throughout our stay. There was meant to be a bar/ restaurant area but that was often closed. For example we went to dine there Sunday night - closed. We then tried Monday night - closed. Breakfast is buffet style and is in a nice room and could be good if replenished but was sketchy. The hot food was poor quality and poorly cooked, the croissants dry, fruit non existent etc etc. The rooms are very tired and need refurbishing. Our air conditioning didn’t work and our tv broke down twice during our stay. The mini bar fridge didn’t work. The area is very noisy late at night as it’s on the way back to the station and you hear the drunks going home - quite a few hang around on the steps of the building next door too with the associated debris/smell. From about 5.45am the garbage vehicles, laundry, drinks deliveries start so don’t expect to sleep as you get woken up with the loud bangs. The staff aren’t interested and in hindsight we should have moved hotels on day 1.

We had a nice stay at the hotel. Location is great. It’s right next to the train station and Flix Bus stop. Breakfast is very good. However, one elevator (total 2) wasn’t working for 2 days out of the 3 days during our stay. Guests had to walk up and down stairs. I did inform the front desk staff that our room phone is not working on the very first day we checked in but they didn’t really care and never bother to fix it. It will be nice if some front desk staff could be more patient and friendly to Asian guests .

The hotel feels a little tired, like a 90s decor, we ended up on the first floor at the front which meant you could hear the noise from the people and cars until late. Having the windows open on tilt wasn’t great but the ventilation and not a/conditioning that i though it had was non existent, so made the choice of having the windows open. The pool was a bonus though if not pretty cold and at least it had a sauna as well. Still it was a good base to venture out and not a bad place for finding somewhere to eat in the evening.

Very clean hotel, spacious rooms and excellent location when having to catch early transportation. The only negative I would say is I booked this hotel in particular for the location, but more so because it had a pool. The pool looks far bigger in the pictures. 3-4 kids in there is almost enough to fill it. Pool and all areas were also very clean.

This is an old hotel that has not been updated for many years and is not of the usual Novotel standard. Cleanliness was also poor - our room was not cleaned properly and we had to raise concerns about this. The location is convenient though and Freiburg was beautiful. Breakfast was fine.

Auf unserer Durchreise waren wir (zwei Erwachsene, zwei Kinder) in zwei Wochen zwei Mal für je eine Nacht dort. Das Hotel ist riesig und hat eine eigene Tiefgarage. Das Personal ist kompetent und sehr freundlich. Wir hatten unterschiedliche Zimmer, aber sie waren immer großzügig, geräumig und super sauber. Die bereitgestellten Kosmetikprodukte waren hautfreundlich und sehr angenehm im Geruch. Die Betten waren riesig und bequem. Das Frühstück am nächsten Morgen war so umfangreich. Die Auswahl war riesig und für jeden war etwas dabei. Selbst wenn man nicht dort übernachtet, lohnt sich ein Frühstücksbesuch auf jeden Fall!

Albergo con ottimi servizi, piscina accessibile e facilità di parcheggio (a pagamento) in un posizione ottima e vicina al centro città. Purtroppo entrando in camera l'odore era sgradevole e la camera, seppure dotata di tutti i confort, non era stata pulita con attenzione; il tavolo era pieno di briciole e sotto il letto c'era una confezione vuota di patatine che è rimasta per tutto il nostro soggiorno ( nonostante la camera venisse "ripulita" tutti i giorni). Nel complesso comunque gradito.

WC war nicht sauber, Seifenspender war leer und wurde auch nach Information an der Reception nicht aufgefüllt, Kosmetiktücher wurden nicht nachgefüllt (es wurden nur 1 oder 2 Tücher in die Box gesteckt), was in zwei Zimmern der Fall war. Parkin war unterschiedlich teuer, je nach Auskunft der Reception.

O hotel é muito bem localizado para quem chega na cidade com carro, tendo um estacionamento compartilhado muito próximo e com o acesso direto por elevador. O quarto é espaçoso, estávamos em dois adultos, uma criança de 3 anos e um bebê de 7 meses. A cama é relativamente confortável, banheiro espaçoso, enfim, saldo extremamente positivo. O único ponto negativo é que no carpete havia um pedaço de pizza em um canto do quarto, talvez uma falha na limpeza.
O hotel é muito bem localizado para quem chega na cidade com carro, tendo um estacionamento compartilhado muito próximo e com o acesso direto por elevador. O quarto é espaçoso, estávamos em dois adultos, uma criança de 3 anos e um bebê de 7 meses. A cama é relativamente confortável, banheiro espaçoso, enfim, saldo extremamente positivo. O único ponto negativo é que no carpete havia um pedaço de pizza em um canto do quarto, talvez uma falha na limpeza.

We stayed one night after a long day at Europa-Park, and this hotel was exactly what we needed. It’s a large, business-style property with a spacious lobby and plenty of seating. Even in heavy rain, arrival was easy thanks to the wide white-curb area in front of the lobby—you can pull your rental car right up without hunting for parking, which is rare in Europe. Check-in was quick and friendly. Staff spoke English and German, and we were in our room within minutes. We had a family room with a queen bed and a sofa bed for the kids (9 and 12). The room was surprisingly spacious, with a table and chairs, lots of storage, and a complimentary minibar stocked with beer, soda, water, and juice. A nice standout: the bathroom had shampoo, body wash and conditioner, which we rarely saw at other German hotels. The shower was fully enclosed and easy to use, and the overall room was clean and comfortable—nothing overly memorable or “boutique,” but very good quality. We slept well and would stay again. The location is excellent if you're using the train. The station is directly across the street with two pedestrian bridges. From the front door, turn right, go up the ramp, cross the bridge, and take stairs or the elevator to your platform. Even with luggage, it was an easy walk. A convenient, comfortable stay—great for families and perfect for train travel.

Also mal ehrlich, die Zimmer sind abgewohnt und heruntergekommen, Bad völlig veraltet. Das muss alles dringend renoviert werden. Im Vergleich zu anderen neuen Hotels … Teppichboden völlig inakzeptabel und dreckig. Keine Regendusche, alter Waschtisch, alter Schrank aus den 80ern. TV auch nicht gerade aktuell. Und das Frühstück … keine Bio Eier, Rühreier aus einer Eimasse… brrh … kein Lax, kein Roastbeef, keine hochwertigen Körnerbrötchen, wie sonst in Freiburg.., Einziger Pluspunkt: Schwimmbad & Sauna.

Das Hotel liegt nicht schlecht. Wir hatten ein ruhiges Zimmer angefragt…leider scheint es in diesem hotel nicht ruhig zu sein, es rumpelt generell…ob Nachmitag oder 7h morgens…und Kinder im zimmer über uns….tja ausschlafen wieder zu Hause. Aber es ist sauber! Was eine echte Frechheit ist, sind die Parkgebühren. 55 eur für nicht mal 48h…keine spezialtarife, ich empfehle selbst woanders zu parkieren!

Wir hatten ein ruhiges Zimmer angefragt…leider scheint es in diesem hotel nicht ruhig zu sein, es rumpelt generell…ob Nachmitag oder 7h morgens…und Kinder im zimmer über uns….tja ausschlafen wieder zu Hause. Aber es ist sauber! Was eine echte Frechheit ist, sind die Parkgebühren. 55 eur für nicht mal 48h…keine spezialtarife, ich empfehle selbst woanders zu parkieren!

The hotel feels a little tired, like a 90s decor, we ended up on the first floor at the front which meant you could hear the noise from the people and cars until late. Having the windows open on tilt wasn’t great but the ventilation and not a/conditioning that i though it had was non existent, so made the choice of having the windows open. The pool was a bonus though if not pretty cold and at least it had a sauna as well. Still it was a good base to venture out and not a bad place for finding somewhere to eat in the evening.

We stayed one night after a long day at Europa-Park, and this hotel was exactly what we needed. It’s a large, business-style property with a spacious lobby and plenty of seating. Even in heavy rain, arrival was easy thanks to the wide white-curb area in front of the lobby—you can pull your rental car right up without hunting for parking, which is rare in Europe. Check-in was quick and friendly. Staff spoke English and German, and we were in our room within minutes. We had a family room with a queen bed and a sofa bed for the kids (9 and 12). The room was surprisingly spacious, with a table and chairs, lots of storage, and a complimentary minibar stocked with beer, soda, water, and juice. A nice standout: the bathroom had shampoo, body wash and conditioner, which we rarely saw at other German hotels. The shower was fully enclosed and easy to use, and the overall room was clean and comfortable—nothing overly memorable or “boutique,” but very good quality. We slept well and would stay again. The location is excellent if you're using the train. The station is directly across the street with two pedestrian bridges. From the front door, turn right, go up the ramp, cross the bridge, and take stairs or the elevator to your platform. Even with luggage, it was an easy walk. A convenient, comfortable stay—great for families and perfect for train travel.

Prettig hotel, mooie ruime kamer. Fijne uitchecktijd (uiterlijk 12.00 uur). Uitstekende WiFi. Ontbijtbuffet aan te raden. Ligt direct naast trein- en tramstation aan de rand van het centrum. Helaas kreeg ik na afloop bij het uitchecken nog een flinke rekening. Ik zou te weinig betaald hebben. Ondanks dat ik aangaf wel degelijk alles betaald te hebben werd ik tot 3 maal toe gemaand te betalen. Daar waar het gesprek aanvankelijk in het Engels was, werd er nu nog uitsluitend Duits gesproken (wat me minder goed afgaat). Omdat ik gelukkig een betalingsbewijs van deze site had, kreeg ik uiteindelijk mijn gelijk. Zonder enige excuses. Een teleurstellend optreden van de heer bij de receptie!

Auf unserer Durchreise waren wir (zwei Erwachsene, zwei Kinder) in zwei Wochen zwei Mal für je eine Nacht dort. Das Hotel ist riesig und hat eine eigene Tiefgarage. Nach 15 Minuten Suche habe ich mich gezwungen gesehen, zur Rezeption zu laufen. Dort schilderte ich mein Anliegen, aber die beiden Mitarbeiter konnten mir nur mitteilen, dass die benötigten Informationen normalerweise in der Zimmerbroschüre zu finden seien. Da eine solche in unserem Zimmer nicht vorhanden war, bot ich den Mitarbeitern an, mich zu begleiten, um den Sachverhalt direkt vor Ort zu prüfen. Leider wurde dies abgelehnt, und stattdessen wurde der Fehler auf meine Wahrnehmung geschoben. Ich habe daraufhin selbst zwei Flaschen Wasser gekauft, was an sich kein Problem gewesen wäre. Wir haben für eine Nacht im Novotel Freiburg am Konzerthaus übernachtet und waren rundum zufrieden. After a six night stay in Novotel Munich we had a five night stay here in Novotel Freiburg. The difference in hotels was remarkable. The hotel in Munich was 5/5 but Freiburg Novotel was 1/5. The location is great - right by the station (trains, trams, buses) and town but that is where it ended. The description says it has a pool but for all six days it was ‘closed for cleaning’. We had travelled with a child and planned on using the pool every day so that was disappointing. The spa area was also closed ‘for cleaning’ throughout our stay. There was meant to be a bar/ restaurant area but that was often closed. For example we went to dine there Sunday night - closed. We then tried Monday night - closed. Breakfast is buffet style and is in a nice room and could be good if replenished but was sketchy. The hot food was poor quality and poorly cooked, the croissants dry, fruit non existent etc etc. The rooms are very tired and need refurbishing. Our air conditioning didn’t work and our tv broke down twice during our stay. The mini bar fridge didn’t work. The area is very noisy late at night as it’s on the way back to the station and you hear the drunks going home - quite a few hang around on the steps of the building next door too with the associated debris/smell. From about 5.45am the garbage vehicles, laundry, drinks deliveries start so don’t expect to sleep as you get woken up with the loud bangs. The staff aren’t interested and in hindsight we should have moved hotels on day 1.

Amazing breakfast, very clean, all amenities other than a safe, great location next to trains and buses, very nice staff, only gripe is the addition of the use of the sofa bed in the room. It’s a bit hard you know your on it rather than a real bed but I would definitely stay again. There’s a pool too but we weren’t there long enough to benefit from it. Stayed with 2 teens.

It’s a bit hard you know your on it rather than a real bed but I would definitely stay again. There’s a pool too but we weren’t there long enough to benefit from it. Stayed with 2 teens.

Auf unserer Durchreise waren wir (zwei Erwachsene, zwei Kinder) in zwei Wochen zwei Mal für je eine Nacht dort. Das Hotel ist riesig und hat eine eigene Tiefgarage. Das Personal ist kompetent und sehr freundlich. Wir hatten unterschiedliche Zimmer, aber sie waren immer großzügig, geräumig und super sauber. Die bereitgestellten Kosmetikprodukte waren hautfreundlich und sehr angenehm im Geruch. Die Betten waren riesig und bequem. Das Frühstück am nächsten Morgen war so umfangreich. Die Auswahl war riesig und für jeden war etwas dabei. Selbst wenn man nicht dort übernachtet, lohnt sich ein Frühstücksbesuch auf jeden Fall!

Booked the room for 1 night. Got a fan in my room as requested. But then the cleaning staff knocked on my door several times in the morning despite a do not disturb sign and a check out time of 1200... Breakfast was not prebooked, cost 25 Euro and was not good. A standard continental set up with "English breakfast" but for the price? Not worth it. All in all, if I'm back in Freiburg, I could consider here again, but I would not stay 1 night or buy the breakfast.

Schön eingerichtetes Zimmer mit tollem Ausblick und großes Bad. Sehr sauber und tolles Frühstücksbuffet. Mit dem Aufzug alles gut zu erreichen (Zimmer, Lobby, Frühstück, Tiefgarage, Schwimmbad).

Good location and the pool had a nice temperature. The breakfast was good, but the staff did not manage to keep it filled up so there was a lot of empty plates in the buffet.

The property is next to the main train station, lots of taxis just outside the door, plenty of places to eat within walking distance..hotel restaurant did not seem to be open in the evenings…breakfast was great…

Nice clean hotel close to old town and train station. Only thing which could be improved was waiting time in reception for check in and check out. The line was not that long but it took about 20 minutes. Felt like receptionist had to make about 300 clicks on the computer for each check in. (So some room for improvement related Check-in IT soliton.)
